Chapter 8
Heyyyyyyy. Back with a newwww chapter.
Everybody! Dont skip the important notice!
Please read it priorly before continuing.... with the story. I have warned all of you... Its very Important and I had to let it all out.
Anyways.... This chapter is based on Esther's POV, I tried to avoid bringing up the story from Esther's POV, but there is nothing I can do since.. he has a lot of story about himself and skipping his part of story out is like tearing this book into two.
Also, there are new made up words in here.. so dont brain storm too much over it, as the meaning of those words are given in this chapter of the story.
So... yeah.
Okay.. enough chit chat.

The air was unusually chilly and the clouds greyed a little. The fallen leaves rustled past on the pavement. The breeze blowed softly but with a tinge of anxiousness in it. The brighter areas dimmed and the darker corners ended up darkening even more for one's own demise.
However, no man noticed the sudden drop in the atmosphere.. and if either of them did, they did not take it any less than the Weather Forecast not doing their job properly.
It was one of those unusual days.
Unusual... for a higher tier Angel and a damned Draken Devil in the same picture, without their weapons drawn out.
Not many get to see this sight, as the one and its signifiant other are meant to be sworn enemies of each other for eternity.
Except...
For this one.
"How are you?" The golden haired man asked me with a calm voice.
I hated him.
I stalked around him and then threw him a questioning look.
The Angel sighed "still the same I suppose?"
"Sight seeing?" I asked tilting my head to the side, with a cocky smirk. "Or.. is it trouble in Paradise?"
The curly haired laughed a little. His blue eyes disappearing and reappearing at once. "Oh .. no. I love the Paradise way too much, for me to leave it."
Gabriel smiled at me, with what seemed to be a concerned sympathetic smile.
What is he concerned of now?
I groaned in frusturation and mentally cursed at the damned creature infront of me. I hated this Angel more than any of the others, because this Goldilocks, right here... thinks that he can enlighten the good in me.
As if, there is any good left in me.
I am a Devil for godsakes and if God himself can't turn me into a good being... then I dont even understand why does his dog think he, himself can?
Truth be told... I hated his guts.
Just because he interrupted my easy-going life of a Devil for more than 14 times now and came out all too perfectly well without his body scarred or his fancy hair-do charred... he thinks, that he has owned a soft spot for himself in my non existent heart.
The heck with his whims and beliefs.
The Angel looked up at the sky with a suppressed smile. He sighed again and looked at me "so... a new place all over again?" He asked with a gleeful tone,
God and Devil! I hated that tone! What is he so happy about? Why are all Angels so damn gleeful EVERYTIME?
Its just plain annoying.
They sound like drunk teenage bastards in a shallow cheap bar.
"Like you werent watching me from up there." I snapped.
"Oh.. you caught me." He said shrugging his shoulders and looking around. "So.. why this place of all?"
"The farther I am from the city.. the lesser humans I will have to deal with..." I said casually.
I knew he had another reason, as of to why he really came down here in first place. Not to mention, he allowed half of the vision charm to take home in a human.
Not to forget.... that this human.. is that girl.
I grit my teeth and clenched my folded fingers, to keep my emotions at bay.
The Angel hummed in response, as if he was contemplating on what to ask next. He then looked at me and smiled again "you know, you are the only one Draken I met, who does not like a life of a party."
"Thankyou for acknowledging my boredom in my immortal life. Now, I would like it if you leave and be on your own way and do whatever Angel sh*t you came to do down here." I said and turned around.
"Thats why Im here." Gabriel called out to me. "But, then... I just happened to see you, with the human that I was supposed to do that Angel schwit."
I haulted and stood to listen his fair chuckle. I turned my head around and looked at him. His arms were crossed and his expression remained dangerously amusing.
"You do deal with lesser humans... I get it.. but, I wasnt expecting that human girl amongst the rest." He stated as a matter of fact.
I fully turned around and looked at the Angel.
"What I do with my life... is none of your concerns." I said in a threatening tone.
"Yes. I know.... but what happens to that girl, is and forever will be my concern." He said matching the same tone.
I rolled my eyes "What is it that you want Gabriel?"
His jaw dropped a little and his eyebrows quirked up, as if he wasnt expecting my question.
"Its not what I want... I just came strolling here. Just to see... stuff" He shrugged avoiding my question.
I could tell from his eyes that his end of the bargain, is not something that would be fascinating for me. Let the World, Heaven or Hell laugh... because, this damned thing with wings... definitely has some brotherly feelings for me.. and so on, he thinks I would be hurt by his stupid deal.
Did he forget that I feel nothing?
I smirked mentally, about how dumb the Angel infront of me is.
Trusting a Draken Devil is like digging your own grave and I know that, because I am that Devil.
Stupid light fantasies of resurrection, goodness, peace, love.
I crossed my arms and gave him a really? look.
"Okay.. seems like you're not gonna tell me shit, so Im going back to my place. Oh-and unless you want to join my side of the Realm, dont ever approach me again." I gave a fair sarcastic smile.
"Who said you, Im not going to tell you anything? Oh and I really like my own place up there.. so I wont be joining your party in a forever of lifetime." The Angel mocked back, shifting his weight on the other foot.
I stayed silent and watched him, waiting... patiently.
"Where were we?" He paused to think, "ah- right.. the girl."
"Justice." I replied.
"Yes.. yes.. its nothing actually, doing my survey on humans and her name popped up on my scroll.. so, I came to pay a visit." He shrugged, lying at my face.
I smirked thinking that he was dead wrong in assuming that Im the fool he thinks that I am.
"Didnt ever think that there would be a day where the great Angel Gabriel of the Paradise would lie to a Draken. What are you afraid of Gabriel?" I mocked the older.
He smirked back, "Im not lying..."
"Explain the charm then. I've lived long enough to have the knowledge that you white-obssessed exterminators are not actually keen on revealing yourselves to humans. What changed now? You scared the poor girl, she thought you were a ghost and she has gone crazy. Well done on that Gabriel." I mocked the Angel.
"I had my own reasons. She has a lot going on with her life." He explained.
"So.. you just decided to stalk her.... wearing those hideous clothes and simply smiling at her from the other side of the street? Now, Im not at all surprised for her reaction." I let out a dangerous chuckle. "You gotta work on your lying skills." I said, shaking my head.
"Again... Im not lying." He implied calmly.
The Legends of Realms, unbeknownst to humans speak that the Angel infront of me.. is not just some Angel, who annunced to Mary.... but, the Angel rather is a merciless warrior and till this day.. no Demon, Devil or Draken that crossed his path, has survived his blade.
Funny how, we are both the same, yet very different.
And till now, not once we raised our weapons against each other.
"Then explain." I stated back.
"Like I said, I came down to survey and my stay was intended to be short... however, things got a little bit more interesting when I noticed that there is this strange aura around the girl. Strange... strong aura of a Draken. The Authorities, on knowing this situation, sent me back.... and today with all glory and grace, I find you."
I blinked my eyes as I processed everything he just said.
"Now... for the real deal, why are you closing on that human girl?" He took a step ahead to me. His voice sounded strong again, like all those years and decades.
"Im not closing on to her. We keep accidently meeting each other. And if it wasnt for you today, completely creeping her out, she would still be at her University." I retorted and I looked at his smirking face.
Only later did I realise, I sounded like a creep who knew where she was.
"And how do you know that, that she was coming from there?" He fired back.
Shit.
The heck?
"I just know." I muttered but, I knew he heard it.
I heard a sigh, but I did not look at the latter.
"You should steer away from that Human girl. For her sake. For your sake."
I snapped my head upto him.
"Im already commiting enough treason, by meeting you and letting you go everytime. But, this... this is unacceptable" he shook his head "you are a Draken, the son of the first falle-"
"DON'T!" I growled and the aura around me darkened. The swift of dark halo forming instantly and dropping at the same time.
"I apologise, for my words." the Angel replied in an apologetic tone and my shoulders calmed down. "But still... you of all, should know this. The Heavens... dont take Drakens, way too easily. The rest of the Drakens... aren't like you.. they never were and they are not. And till this day... no Angel has let a Draken pass by just like that." His voice softened. "Although, it offends me, I still care about you.... Devil, Draken, whatnot.... so, if any of the other Angels learn of you roaming about near a human... they will come for you."
I pressed my lips together.
This is not the first time I heard those words.
But I could feel the pressure from his voice. He really was commiting treason against his own kind... for me.
"Dear Boy" Gabriel had a way of addressing me, since I was the Unnamed One...... and honestly, his addressal calmed me, thinking about the times when I was a fully fledged Demon who was utterly destroyed, shattered and broken.... and nobody were on my side. Not the Humans, not the Heavens, not the Hell... nobody.. but again, he was there for me. He was Gabriel.
He continued, " I know... I know, that you mean no harm to the girl. But... the Authorities, do not know of you. If they sense any Draken... they will kill them. And for this case, they might make me do it."
His words poured into me and I kept my silence. Im not used to someone caring about me. I only had three people in my life who, actually did care about me.
Idorian.
Gabriel.
Lykos.
I felt the numbness when I remembered his name.
Gabriel walked upto me and I could feel his purity halo suspended around him.
"And if I refuse to kill you... they will charge me with treason and strip me from my Home." The Angel voice softened again.
I looked up at him.
"Then, keep it a secret." I said back to him.
"You know that I can't lie if they ask of you." He confessed.
"Do it." I replied.
"Why? Is it because of the girl?" He asked with irritation.
I looked for an answer to reply him, but I found none. I ended up sighing.
"Is she your pet?!" The Angel's voice turned hard almost, as if he growled at me.
"No! She- she is not my pet." I said furiously. The fact that he called her a pet angered me more.
Why?
I do not know.
The Angel sighed and he massaged his forehead with his long slender fingers.
"Listen, just take my advice? Okay? Stay low and keep your distance from that human. You know how things will turn up, if you grow attached to her. She doesnt need any of this now... her life will get messed up, if you come too close to her... Its not my place to say this, but you wont bring any happiness to her. She dreams of living a life... let her live it peacefully, boy." He paused and looked at me sympathetically
"You know what happened centuries ago, when you got too close to that human."
Lykos.
I closed my eyes and grit my teeth.
The flashes of bodies and fire came before my eyes.
There amidst, the ruins.. was a single pillar standing tall with charred residue.
"Run... I will distract them." He whispered to me as he made his way to the men that were looking for me, the Devil.
Just as he reached them, one of the men shouted "oi- look at this. The Devil's friend. Grab him."
I watched in horror as the grown up men grabbed the strangly, light brown haired boy and put chains around his hands.
They were the same men, who fed, played and taught Lykos. Now.. why were they hurting him? I couldn't understand. I wanted to help him.. but I was too terrified to step out.
I was a coward.... a coward too afraid to even step up for something I had caused.
I heard the distant cries of a familiar woman. She was frantically trying to push past the crowd to get to her son.
The men, mercilessly hit Lykos with a whip that was tied with what looked like sharp bones. At every whip, the skin opened up as he bled to death infront of my own eyes.
His cries loud and clear as he begged for them to stop.
The crowd chanted to hit even more, to draw the Devil out of Lykos, assuming he was now possessed.
"Burn him." They shouted and I watched the terrifying scene unfold infront of me.
Hot tears streamed down my face as I choked on my own blood and bile in my mouth.
Lykos was already half dead when they strapped him to the pillar.
I gulped and swallowed the familiar long lost feeling of pain and hurt that surfaced in me.
He died because of me.
And I lived because of him.
The bitter adversities and outcomes I had to live after that.... was enough for me to realise that I was better off being in solitude.
But then again....
There are humans.
An unlikely bond sets up with us, Devils and them. Although, it is not the one filled with love and sincerity..... it is more of a bond made with similarities of sinfulness and lust.
The more sinful you are, the more higher Devils will come looking for you..
And as far as I know,
Justice.. is not sinful... and I am. She doesnt feel anything towards me... yet, I do.. but not of lust.... and it is definitely not love at the same time.
What she does to me... is definitely something Im not experienced to.
It annoys me... that, I fail to understand her.
It terrifies me... that, the amount of effect she has on me is nothing of what I have on her
It hurts me... that, in the end... I will hurt her.
Just like Lykos.
".... I hope you understand." Gabriel ended his ted-talk and I snapped back to reality.
"You asked me what I wanted..." he said stepping backwards.
"Leave, while you can."
My breaths increased its pace.
I cant leave.
No matter how much I try I cant.
Gabriel turned around to leave amd I called oit to him.
"I can't"
"What did you say?" He asked me.
"I said.. I can't." I sighed in defeat.
"Why is that?" Gabriel tilted his head looking at me in suspicion. I could tell he is still hung up on that stupid Pet-theory.
"She made me name." I mumbled, inaudibly.
"What?" Gabriel, now fully turned to face me.
"She made me name myself... just like Lykos did!!" I shouted. "So.. thats why, I cant leave. And so I won't."
Gabriel's eyes widened in shock.
I expected his reaction and I sighed again. I breathed loudly as I let the words out.
"There is nothing I can do to help you." The Angel said in defeat "and that is why, you are on your own now."
Gabriel turned around and disappeared into white mist.
I stood there in silence as I watched the white dust float around and fall on the pavement.
I was the only one born Unnamed in the whole set of the last 17 centuries... so that striked out the power to condemn me, which made me entirely powerful. A very powerful Devil... a Draken.
And... the power to make an Unnamed name itself... was a power to the infinite. The one who made an Unnamed Devil, name itself... was to be forever bonded with that Devil. The Devil can never harm the latter, no matter what.... and it protects his name holder from anything and everything that comes to hurt his holder.
People call it a blessing, to have a power over a Devil.. not a Demon, but a Devil...
But what I say is... its a curse.
A damned curse that signs up the death penalties over a hundred.
I lost Lykos to this penalty and I decided to never approach a human again.
And now Im here... with the history repeating all over again as if the Fates are playing against me, throwing in all of their ace cards.
Justice made me name... and I am now, bonded to her.
And when an Unnamed, not to mention... the only Unnamed Draken is named, every last living Devil or Demon on Earth or Hell will come to find me and kill me.
Just, like that... even the holder will have to pay the price
I wont let it happen again.
I wont sit by and watch death gloom its shadow over her, the way how it gloomed over Lykos.
I will kill every last being that will set their finger on her.
I swear on Heaven and Hell.
I will protect her.
I definitely will.
My mind was made and I knew what I was going to do.... what I had to do.
