With that being cleared... let's begin with the new chapter.
Happy reading!
--------------------------
I didnt know what to believe anymore.
For a brief moment.. there was an intense stare off that gave out the feeling of a war breaking out and few minutes later the ravenette stranger's laughter reached the air.
I looked at the duo seated and wondered what was even going on.
I mean... the very first time I saw Esther.. and this.. Ian together, Esther didnt look very much happy and dragged Ian out of the supermarket that day. Even today when he walked in, it wasnt exactly all rainbows and spring.
Esther looked furious, his eyebrows scrunched, nose flaring and veins popping all together. Did he intimidate me? Yes. A flat yes. I was shivering when he walked into the Cafe. His eyes trained on the other dark haired man whose smirk intensified when he walked in. His sea-green blue eyes gleaming with some dark emotion.... or... just emotionless.
For the moment back there, anyone could've mistaken them as enemies... but right now?
I snapped out of my thoughts when Ellie waved her hands infront of my face. I blinked rapidly and looked at her, annoyed.
She smiled and shook her head, placing a vanilla latte and an Iced americano on the tray. Ellie turned and went back to set up the new coffee bean crusher that turned up today.
I sighed and looked up to watch the duo only to be met by a pair of exciting sea-green orbs looking right at me. My eyes widened a little and Esther looked away.
What was he doing?
All the more reason why I'm trembling even worse inside.
I mustered up my courage and walked over to the table with steady hands. I placed the tray on the table while my eyes stayed glued to the table and not anything else. I slowly looked over at Esther and avoided Ian's piercing gaze at all costs.
Esther sure did intimidate me.... but... he wasn't a bad person. I mean.. afterall he did save me in the previous encounters, no matter how intimidating he looked.
As of for Ian? He just gave off bad vibes for some reason and my preposition of steering away from him was crystal clear. Our first encounter was enough to draw the life out of my soul and I did not want to spend another second with him alone, no matter whatsoever.
"Is there something else you would like to order?" I gulped.
Esther avoided his gaze from meeting mine "no.. thankyou."
I muttered a small 'oh okay, alright' and turned around to head down into the employees room to shut myself in, but I was caught off when I heard the other dark haired man clear his throat.
"Actually... I want something." Ian said looking up at me.
I looked sideways at him and froze.
You can do it Justice.. just ask what he wants.. get him that.. then you can leave.
Easy peasy.
I faked a smile as I turned to face him "yes?"
"Sit down."
My smile dropped.
"Pardon?"
"Sit down." He tilted his head and pointed the empty chair between the duo by raising his eyebrows up.
"I-I.. s-sir I..-"
"What are you doing Ian?" Esther groaned and I looked down at him with pleading eyes.
"I'm asking the lady to sit on the chair... nicely." He looked up at me and grinned as I felt a shiver run down my spine.
"I- " I began and then sighed sitting down while masking my fear and discomfort.
Where is Ellie?
The awkward silence loomed in and I chewed the inside of my cheek in anxiety. I could hear the matching beats of the clock ticking and the bothersome sound of Ian's fingers tapping on the table.
Esther kept on staring at his fist propped on the table. His deep oak brown hair hiding his eyes from my sight.
I didnt know what I was even doing but before I realised that I was staring, Esther's gaze met mine. A tingling electricity ran through me as I caught a glimpse of the softened expression in his eyes before they returned back into being the same hard cold stare.
Ian's slurping noise is what drawed me into the reality. We both simultaneously snapped our heads to face him, who had his chin propped on his palm, elbow resting on the table. While the other hand held his drink as he continued slurping through with a fearful loud noise.
A threatening smirk painted on his face, bringing out the textures of his face. His dark raven hair almost as dense as Esther's. He lifted his eyebrows and snickered.
"What?" Esther groaned with irritation.
Ian kept his drink on the table and looked at us. "Well.. you tell me."
What in the world was happening here?
Ian's gaze shifted towards me and I shrunk in my seat.
"So... Justice.. tell me a bit about you." Ian said smiling with his eyes gleaming.
"I-I... d-"
"You can stop bothering her Ian."
"You dont have to voice for her." Ian snapped with a devilish smirk. "Now... Justice.. Justice right?"
I nodded my head slowly, fiddling with my fingers
"I want to ask you a simple question, but you have to look into my eyes to answer it."
I gulped at his preposition. That's exactly what I had sought out to NOT to do in his presence.
"Ian drop it! You're scaring her for no reason.." Esther pressed on and I could hear him hiss in anger.
Ian's eyes darkened and his smile only grew wider.
"Dear Justice..." he cooed and I wanted to bury myself from my anxiety surfacing within.
I held my breath and my fist curled in confusion.
I did not want any conversation with the said man.
Ian took a deep breath with his gaze darkening with each second and I could feel Esther moving in his seat.
Something wasnt right.
Ian dragged his fingers slowly on the table still staring at me.
"What..." he began very very painfully and slowly.
"What are you- you cute human?" He giggled at me and I took a double take at him.
He smiled cheerfully, his eyes almost disappearing.
I let out a breath that I didnt know I was holding in all the time
"I got you!" He said pointing a finger at me and laughed out loudly slamming the table with his hands.
I silently looked over at Esther and he was also in the same state of shock as me. Ian's squeaky laughter echoed in my ears and I let a breathy awkward laugh.
What in the world was going on in here?!
"You should have seen your faces.. oh my soul.." he shook his head still laughing. "What did you think I was gonna ask?"
"Uh..me?" I squeaked, unsure who he was talking to
"Yep." He said slurping his drink.
"Uh... I dont know?" I mumbled looking at him.
"Oh c'mon.. I can see you lying. All this suit.. and dark eyebrows surely did their work on terrorizing you. I want to see what you thought of me." He grinned, his head propped on his palm.
Is this guy even for real?
For a second he would be like the devil.. and the next moment he would be a toddler?
"... you were some Druglord... and you were here.. for.. human.... trafficking?" My voice faded away in embarrassment.
Esther choked on his drink and began coughing loudly. Ian's squeaky laughter erupted again and my cheeks flamed.
What did I even say? Christ Lord..
"I'm so sorry.." I quickly apologised.
Ian looked at me and gave a smile "it's okay... if you're taking me as a druglord then I've already got answers for my other questions.." he chuckled and I simply pulled a smile, not knowing what he meant.
I awkwardly gazed over to the counter and Ellie was found to be cleaning the counter.
I should go help her.
"Umm.. I should head back now.." I said moving back with my chair.
"Oh wait! I've got something to say!" Ian exclaimed.
"Uh.. yes?" I asked unsure.
"Did you fall from the heaven, 'cause you look like an angel..." The ravenette said winking at me and a slight smile dancing on his lips.
My face heated up and my words got stuck in my throat.
The statement reminded me of something Ellie had said not long ago and her words creeped out of my tongue.
"No..." I said simply mustering my sanity, remembering Ellie's words. "..but I did scrape my knee crawling out of hell."
I heard Esther snort and I looked at him. A gentle smile making it's way up to his lips, bringing out the serenity of his face.
Ian muttered something that sounded like 'nice.. I like it.' but I paid no attention and walked away from their table with a small smile on my face.
Ian did look like one of those cold CEOs in movies, the intimidating aura... and everything.. but he actually turned out to be a softie. Minus points for using a pickup line... but eitherways, I made a mental note to thank Ellie for rambling out to me about some dude in the local bar who used a couple of pickup lines on her
It's not like everyday I am capable of holding a normal conversation with a guy, without flinching and sweating. For some odd reason... I felt comfortable... safe.
I opened the counter door and crept in.
*********
"Take this prescription and come back next week for a check up." Dr. Hayes, the specialist in cancer treatments voiced out.
I took the prescription and looked at it.
Great.. more medicines
"Dr Hayes... is.. this gonna work? Will... I be okay?" I mumbled and Dr. Hayes sighed.
"Dont lose hope Justice. We can make it work. I will make it work. All you have to do is stay healthy without any stress... the rest we, doctors will see." Dr. Hayes replied.
"But... the stages? I am dying... all this treatment.. its no-"
"Dont say that!" She cut me off "you will love through this. There are so many new inventions today. Some miracle will get to you and trust me... you will become just fine, dont lose faith Justice... you will have to hold onto that no matter how hard time gets. "
I sighed.
I cant give up. Not yet.
If I will die... I will die...
I dragged my chair, muttering a thankyou and slowly turned around to head out.
I twisted the door handle and walked out. The awful hospital scent invading my nose and I scrunched my nose up in disgust.
I didnt know what my disease was.
Cancer.. yes.
But exactly? No one knew.
They said something that was close to Sarcoma, but I carried no symptoms to the disease.
Could that mean it was something even more deadlier?
The survival rate for Sarcoma was 5 years... and considering that I was already in Stage3 that could come on the category of that cancer, did that mean I was going to die earlier than before?
I mean-
"Move!!" I heard someone tell and I looked up to see a commotion. Nurses were running around and doctors were rushing forward, accidentally bumping into my shoulders.
I saw the metal stretcher being dragged ahead. Nurses holding up the IV and pushing the stretcher at the same time. I leaped to the side to make way for the approaching band.
All amongst the commotion, my eyes caught the body of a man... or what at least looked like a man.
His arms twisted and legs in a knot, while the nurses did everything to restrain him. His body was scrawny and as pale as paper. He was wearing a charred grey shirt that was torn at one sleeve. His legs were bare and there were no signs of pants on him. He seemed to have no hair on his head either, allowing his whole forehead to be on display. There were incoherent grunts and muffled moans coming from his mouth.
My heart beat fastened in fear.
The band of doctors and the strange man came closer towards my direction. His yellings getting only louder, to be replaced by growls and devilish chuckles.
My eyes were stuck on the panicking doctors, not realising that a pair of bloodshot eyes were looking at me. I flinched and almost squeaked when my eyes met with the strange man's dark eyes.
His tongue rolled out as he began glaring at me with his hungry eyes.
My fingers began trembling at the sight and my soul left my body.
His gaze didnt waver as he continued boring holes in my head. His grin only growing wider.
I sucked in a deep breath as the stretcher passed by me.
The restraints snapped and the man lurched at me, pushing a nurse to the ground and smacking a doctor at the same time.
I screamed as the man made his way to me with his mouth hung open. Tears streamed down my face taking me into a trance.
No...
No...
His eyes was all that I saw. His dark soulless eyes that beckoned death itself.
His eyes reminded me of him.
I tried to shuffle away but my legs were giving up on me. The strange old man cocked his head forward to my face. A pungent reeking smell erupting from his body, that caved in me casting all kinds of fear. The yellings and shouts of other people in the hallway faded away and it was only me and the strange man.
His pupils larger than the normal size as red veins surrounded his eyeball.
All out of nowhere his hands grabbed my arms with a harsh grip and the said man erupted a death filled scream. I screamed back as well in fear prying his hands away but failing miserably at the same time.
The man, himself drawed his hands back and continued screaming, curling into a ball on the floor.
"It.. burns!" He yelled loudly "it BURNS!!"
One of the nurses pulled me back and stood infront of me.
The doctors set on to get the man to listen to them, while he screamed in pain.
The doctor snapped his head to one of the nurses and pulled his hand forward "now!!"
The nurse on command began fumbling in the metal box looking for something.
The strange man whipped his head to see me "you!!"
I stumbled back holding my screams at bay. The doctor sticking the syringe up with some transparent content in it. He injected him with the serum and the man eased down.
"I found you.. I found you... I.." he slowly mumbled and his eyeslids shut.
Everyone took a breath of relief while settling back to their works.. while I stood there still. Paralysed.
My lower lip quivered as my heart beats escalated in fear.
I felt someone's hands on my shoulder and I flinched with a yelp leaving my mouth.
"Hey! hey! It's okay.. calm down.." the nurse replied soothing my shoulders.
"Let's get you out of here.." the nurse mumbled manoeuvring me in the opposite direction.
I was still in a frozen state when the nurse helped me sit. She left my side and walked away saying that she would be back in a bit.
What just went down?
Wasnt I having a normal morning?
I stared down at my trembling fingers and slowly pressed them together to stop the shaking.
"Here." I heard the nurses voice as she kept a cup of coffee next to me. I slowly took it with trembling hands, glancing at the golden haired nurse.
"Its not that great.. but I think it will taste just fine.." she said with a small smile and I nodded, sipping the warm coffee.
The liquid gushed down my throat and I felt my sanity returning to me.
"Thanks.." I mumbled, looking at my shoe.
"No problem!" The nurse replied with a cheery tone.
"No.. I meant... really thankyou.. for what you did back there.." Is said looking at her.
"Its alright.. we get all kinds of weirdos in this hospital everytime, so I just acted out of instinct. You dont have to thank me." She smiled at me.
I smiled slowly and sipped my coffee.
"Your hands are still trembling.. are you sure you are okay?" The nurse asked me with concern in her tone. Her blue eyes gleaming.
I let out a breath and looked down at my hands. "Its okay... it will go away soon."
Silence filled in but it was a warm silence. The one that I was okay with.
The nurse finally got up and stood facing me. "well.. I have to go now." She said clasping her fingers.
"Oh.. umm alright." I muttered awkwardly and she sent me a plain smile. "Wait! May I... may I know your name please?" I asked.
The woman turned around to face me. Few lines of worry strewn across her face as her eyes gleamed. Hesitation, clear on her face.
Oh.. I shouldnt have.
"Oh no! It's okay if you dont want to-"
"You can call me Gabrielle!" She blurted loudly. "-la."
"Gabriela?" I asked confused.
"Yes." She gulped with a soft smile.
"Thankyou Gabriela..." I said smiling and she returned the same smile.
She turned around and began walking away, leaving me to my thoughts.
I turned on my heels and walked to the main entrance with my loose hanging thoughts and amidst all the anxiety and fear.. I remembered the golden haired woman.
Let the Lord bless you with his love and keep you safe. Thankyou Gabriela.
I prayed for her as I walked to the bus stop outside.
I smiled as the sunlight beamed on my face igniting hope in me.
End of Justice POV:
***********
Esther's POV:
My eyes gathered the surrounding of the room and my nose scrunched up in disgust. I scanned the room and my eyes fell on a certain goldilocks who was smiling to himself.
Irritated, I asked him "what are you smiling for?"
He looked up while his blue eyes gleamed at me. "Someone just prayed for my well being."
I snorted and shook my head "weirdo."
I walked over to the metal bed and saw the scrawny old man lying there. Countless wires stuck into him as some machines beeped.
Gabriel shuffled and sighed looking at me. I knew exactly what was going through his head.
"Do you have to do this?" He groaned
I sighed and looked at him. "He wont make it eitherways. His soul is already devoured by the demon."
The man's limbs were strapped to the bed with belts.
Atleast... one problem got out of the way.
"Listen.. this is... I.. I cant allow you to do this!" Gabriel confessed with a frown across his face.
I grit my teeth in annoyance. "Look.. you said that I was on my own when you realised what that girl was for me... but then you came back knowing all too well what will happen once you step into my game."
The golden haired man huffed in annoyance. "Me? Me? I came back because you called me!"
"Well you should have known better of what you were getting yourself into the moment you came back here." I replied with annoyance. "She is your mission. Justice.Waters." I grit my teeth as I took a step towards him.
"You are meant to protect her..." I hissed at him. "..from my kind..." I mumbled and walked away to focus on the possessed man.
I removed the cords that were injected into his body and waited for his eyelids to shot open. The blood in my veins irked at his sight.
I wanted to kill him..
So bad...
The dark halo forming itself around me and I felt Gabriel stepping away to allow me to lead the interrogation.
It's a good thing that we creatures, were able to keep up our true identities through the vision charm. Clearly... we were entirely invisible to the useless dingy camera in the room.
I kept my urge at bay, because I wanted answers first. If it would be the other way around... then I will obviously lose control and snap his neck the moment his eyelids stray open.
The possessed squirmed in his sleep and minutes later his eyelids slowly opened like curtain drapes.
His black pupils way too large to come in the context of normal. People would state that he is a drug addict who intakes cocaine on a daily basis to have his pupils blown up... but I'd rather say otherwise.
I took a deep breath tilting my neck to hear the bones crack.
The possessed began laughing with happiness when his eyes landed on me "My family! you're here to save me! Free me. Oh-wait.. is that what I see?"
His eyes trained somewhere behind my back.
"Oh the heaven and hell! It is the great guardian angel Gabriel of the Paradise!" The man loudly laughed.
"Are you here to bless me Angel? Redeem me of my sins?" He mocked the Golden haired man while he kept his cool.
"No." I smiled "I am here to redeem you."
$$$$$*****$$$$$
I grabbed his neck and pushed him down as he let out strangled incoherent noises.
I felt the bones bend in his neck and I watched playfully as his eyed rolled back.
"Hey! Stop it!" I heard the Angel's voice but I blocked it off.
"You're going to kill him!"
"You wont get any answers if you do that you prick!" Gabriel yelled and that snapped me out of kill-rush.
The man coughed and gasped for air, as I glared at him.
"Oh... oh..." the man laughed again, mocking my last strings of sanity. "Are you going to kill me Devil?"
I must admit.. the man sure did have balls to speak with that tone after I almost snapped his neck.
".. will that make you feel any better? Huh?" He laughed again.
"Shut up!" Gabriel yelled in annoyance and I looked at him with a shocked expression.
It's not like everyday you can find an angel snapping at other beings. That too... Angels like Gabriel.
"What?" He asked me and I just shrugged "he is getting under my skin too." He replied and looked at the possessed man.
"A Devil... and an Angel.. the Gabriel.. together in one place. Am I missing out a century?" The demon let out a gasp, followed by squeaky laughter.
"No.. but you will miss your head in few moments if you wont shut up and answer my questions." I grit through my teeth.
"I'm not afraid of you Devil.. I'm not afraid of your fancy blade either Angel." He said in a hushed tone. "The only person I'm afraid of.. is my master-"
"Yes thankyou for acknowledging my balde. We would like to know who your master is." Gabriel cut in.
The man ignored Gabriel's preposition and I could swear that I caught Gabriel's eye twitch in annoyance.
"... will be proud of me when I'm freed. I will tell master about my new find. I will be granted a stronger host.." the squeaky laughter continued "... want to know a secret? " he asked in a hushed tone.
I clenched my fingers into a fist as I looked at him.
"I found it.." he said in a hushed tone. " how about you let me go in exchange of this information? Yeah? I found... the Draken's holder. Petite little thing I must say... I feel sorry for her to have fates inclined with a Draken. If only... if only it wasnt for those stupid humans... I would have had her. Her screams were so fulfilling.. so precise... and satisfying. I wanted more of if.. but she fu**ing burnt my hands when I touched her. I wanted to pay her back with something that coul-"
Crack.
My fist collided with his face and I heard his nose crack.
Crack.
"You dont mess with her."
Crack.
"You stay away from her."
Crack.
"You dont f**king touch her."
Crack
Crack.
Crack.
Blood pooled out of his nose and his lips were burst open.
My breaths were heavy from containing my true form within. The evilness scratching underneath my skin, begging me to let it out.
I held his neck and squeezed it.
"Name." I venomously hissed at him.
"Mine? Or my Master's?" He squeaked.
"Both." I hissed squeezing his neck harder
"N.. Nu- Nullius." He answered.
"Your master?" I questioned him a he blinked his eyes to get the blood out of them.
"My master will kill you, you lowly Devil!" He hissed and I smirked at him.
"Name." I hissed.
"L-Lylith." He mumbled and my eyes widened in shock.
Not that b*tch again.
"Ha ha.. are you scared of her? She will kill you if she will find I'm dead." He smirked at me but my grin widened at his face.
"I dont give a single flying f*ck." I said tightening my grip on his neck. This time, sure to snap it.
He groaned and gasped for air as his eyes watched me in horror.
I leaned in towards him and stopped at the shell of his ear, loosening the grip for a moment. "Can I tell you a secret?"
His gasps were heard in the room, while he chose to stay silent.
"I am that Draken." I whispered into his ears and his body froze.
The dark halo combusted around me and my true form revealed itself. I was sure my sea-green irises were gone and were replaced by a pair of plain obsidian black orbs.
The air dropped around me and I gently smirked at him while he trembled under my grip, now being able to see my true form.
"I hope... you rot.. in hell Nullius."
Another shrill scream erupted in the air as the said man squirmed in my hold. His distraught figure twisting even more as the crunches of his bones could be heard too loud for my own satisfaction.
The demon screamed and yelped for mercy as he slowly died out and dissipated from the man's body.
The monitoring machine beeped a milestone showing a flatline.
Lylith.
Why her out of all the damned devils?
I looked upto see Goldilocks and his he had his right clasped over his left.
Pathetic.
"I can see you." I said simply, eyeing his weapon.
"Yes. I know. I'm just being cautious. Now.. can you switch your eyes to the normal shade. Its creeping me out." The Angel stated plopping his hands in his pockets.
I snorted and closed my eyes, feeling the surge of darkness fading away.
I opened my eyes and Gabriel heaved a sigh of relief.
The door opened and the doctors and nurses rushed in, trying to get the dead man back
Ofcourse, none of them saw either of us for our vision charm.
I sighed and walked out of the room, with Gabriel on my side.
"You know her?" Gabriel asked me once we were both out of the hospital. I looked at him and groaned.
"Yes. A complete pain in my a*s. It took me years to shake her off of me." I mumbled as I massaged my forehead.
"Is she a threat?" He asked me.
"She is right under Mr.Oh-so-I-love-my-throne." I snapped "ofcourse she is a threat."
Gabriel sighed. "The more we go in this direction the more the problems will add up."
"We dont have a choice." I mumbled and looked away. "I cant let them get to her. I wont let her see the cruelty that's hidden from her eyes. I wont let her go through any of this.."
I looked back and caught Gabriel looking at me in a longing gaze. Concern-filled gaze.
"She is just my name holder Gabriel. Dont get far with your imaginations. You know I dont feel anything." I said looking at him in his eye.
"Yes... yes. I know." He mumbled and let out a breath. "What about the Devil?"
"What about her?" I asked turning to leave
"What if she will come to know of what happened today. You do know the risks of it right? Justice.. is a human... and if they will get to-"
"I know.. I'm working on it." I paused and looked at him
"Eitherways... Lylith has thousands of minions working for her all over this world. What makes you think she will notice one gone?" I quirked my eyebrows up
"I've got a bad feeling about this..." Gabriel muttered and I laughed.

Author's Note.
To those who think Ian is all rainbows and sprinkles.... hold that thought. More is yet to come... (he is a Devil.. what do you expect?)
Gabriel and Esther sure do make great partners... but Gabriel will feature alongside Esther only until I bring about Ian's motives and role in this story.. because the main supporting role in this story is Ian/Idorian. :)
What do you think of this chapter? Lemme know your thoughts.. dont be a silent reader. It will help me out a lot..
