Chapter Two: Percy
Percy had had enough. He was done with his life. He was bullied, beat, and no one loved him. He wasn't needed by anyone. He had started to feel the tickle of feelings that weren't his a few years ago. But they were so small, he had though that his soul mate just didn't care much for him. He had a few friends, Jason Grace, Conner and Travis Stoll, Will Solace, Frank Zhang, Luke Castellen, (A/N I'M SORRY I HAD TO! I MUST HAVE THALUKE! And don't get mad at me because Thalia is a hunter and has sworn off all men and love like that in general. This is a fanfiction, and an AU. There are no hunters. ) and Calypso Atlas-Nightshade.
But they didn't really care for him. They wouldn't notice if he was gone. They hardly noticed him when he was there. The only reason he was still there was because of his mother. She was the sweetest woman he had ever known. The only person he felt actually loved him. But her soul mate, his father, had died and her husband now was only married to her because his soul mate had died and he had money that would just barely support them. Half the time, Percy starved himself anyway though. His stepfather was a drunk who liked his beers way to much. He spent most of their money on that. So there wasn't much money left over to buy food. When they did have food, there was barely enough to feed one person. So to make sure his mother had enough food, he wouldn't eat for days at a time until there was enough for him to have at least a little bit of food, or he would scavenge food from the school cafeteria or steal some from his friends.
But now... It had gotten so bad. He hadn't eaten more than a few crumbs in over a week. He had hit another growth spurt which made it that much worse. His stepfather was even more drunk. His mother away even more, having to work more hours to get more money. He was bullied even more at school. He was ignored more by his friends. His stepfather hit him more. He could feel that he was bringing down his soul mates mood. Where when he had first started to feel her, she had been happy and carefree, now that it had been three years, she was getting as depressed as he was. He knew that she always felt hungry like he did. And he knew that she saw the scars from his stepfather and the self-inflicted cuts on his wrists.
He grabbed a pocket knife from the kitchen and snuck out of the house to an old abandoned hotel a few blocks from his apartment. He ducked inside, checking to make sure no one saw him. He raced up to the top floor and ripped off his shirt, staring at the scars on his arms. He sat down and took a deep breath, closing his eyes and bringing the blade of the knife to his throat.
He felt a stinging pain from his soul mate and froze, glancing down at his arm.
Don't do it.
He stared at the words in bewilderment as they etched themselves into his skin.
Why not?
He cut into his arm in reply.
Tell me why you would.
She wrote back, the scars appearing on his arm as she wrote the words on her own.
No one wants me. No one loves me. I'm no one to anyone.
He closed his eyes again and brought the knife back up to his throat. He felt a frantic fear from his soul mate and felt her desperately carve something else into her arm. He glanced down at it in curiosity.
I do.
He froze. Staring at the two words in shock, unable to move or look away. His soul mate seemed to take this as a chance to continue.
I want you. I love you. You are everything to me.
Percy was confused. She didn't even know him. She hand never met him. Yes, she was his soul mate, but why would anyone want him? Having run out of room on his arms, he pulled off his jeans and cut the next words into his thigh.
Why? You don't even know me...
He stared at his leg as he waited for her reply.
I do know you. You are my soul mate. I'm yours. I've felt your pain, I see your scars every morning when I look in the mirror and when I get dressed. I see your scars everyday because they are also my scars. I feel your pain and it's my pain too. My name's Annabeth. What's yours?
Percy smiled. Annabeth. What a pretty name. It was also nice to finally be able to put a name to the girl who he was now seriously falling for.
Percy. My name is Percy.
He felt her smile, and he smiled too. It was her next words put him on guard.
Will you meet me?
He froze and stared at the words, hesitateing before replying.
Where?
He felt her elation and it made him happier as well. And then a though occurred to both of them, but it was Annabeth who put it into words.
I don't even know if we live anywhere near each other...
Percy, now desperate to meet this girl who had enthralled him so, immediately carved more words into his leg.
I live in Manhattan.
He smiled when she replied almost as fast as he had.
I live by Long Island. Do you want to meet at Montauk in two days? Promise that you'll at least hold on until then?
He was elated and couldn't say yes fast enough. Though, personally, two days seemed like too much time.
I'd love too. I promise I'll be there.
He felt Annabeth smile and he knew that they had both never felt happier than they did in that moment.
See you then.
The words appeared on his side. He smiled again, and wrote back a confirmation.
See you then!
He couldn't wait.
Two days later, he was at Montauk, scanning the beach for anyone who could be Annabeth. He kept his scars covered though, not wanting to draw attention to himself. He had looked at and discarded every girl he had seen so far. Until he noticed and blond girl sitting in the sand, her grey eyes sweeping across every male that passed her.
He saw her scars. They covered her arms and legs. And there, on her side, were the 'See you then' messages. His eyes locked on her and he started to walk over. She saw him and her eyes locked on him as well, watching him as he approached. He got nervous as her grey eyes studied him. He felt like she was picking him apart, pulling off his armor until she was staring into his very soul.
Then he was standing in front of her. He looked down at her, trying to think of what to say. Soon enough, he settled on just her name. "Annabeth?" His voice came out sofly. She nodded.
"Percy?" She said quietly. Her voice was sweet and melodious. But calculating, commanding, stern, and wise as well. It was his turn to nodded. He pulled up the bottom of his hoodie to show his 'See you then' scars. Then he pushed up his sleeves to show her their words from two days ago.
And in a moment, she was on her feet, staring up at him. She must have been at least five feet and ten inches tall. In the next second, Percy found himself wrapped in her arms as she enfolded him in a hug. For a moment, Percy was frozen and shocked stiff. Then he smiled and melted into her arms, closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around her. He felt her lift her head from his shoulder.
"You are perfect. I love you." She whispered on his ear. He lifted his head from where it was buried in her hair and whispered in her ear.
"So are you."
A/N Well... How was it? I might make a part three. If someone asked for one that is. Or just because I want to...
Anyway, that was 1,409 words long. I sincerely hope that didn't suck...
Well, In other news, I drew this:
It took me like, two and a half hours, but I'm really proud of it. I usually don't draw the whole body. It's typically just the head and face. And when I do draw the body, it's the same pose every time. With them using their hands behind their back and no feet. So yeah. I'm really proud of this!
I don't know why it's sideways but...
Anyway, I guess that's it.
And, you know, like I said in chapter one, this is from my other book One-Shots and Shorter Stories. writergirl1255 asked for a part three and I was just like: Why don't I just make this it's own book? With like, a plot line and stuff. So here it is! This whole book I guess is dedicated to you writergirl1255!
(As soon as I figure out how to dedicate a chapter to someone, I'll dedicate them all to you! 😘)
Yours in demigodishness and all that,
Annabeth_Jackson_12 <3
