Chapter 2
I pulled on the rest of the strings and heads dropped to the ground. The zombies came swarming over the bloodied bodies. Tall guy was unexpectedly still alive along with some other people. I could tell he was losing his composure. I yawned silently through my mask and looked at the remaining people.
I want to go to sleep.
"Don't worry, it will be over soon." Hugo said waving his gun around. I looked around sleepily as Hugo shot at the others remaining. Why am I getting sleepy all of a sudden? I looked around again and I saw a figure in a darkened alley. I squinted my eyes and I could make out a guy. He was looking over our way. His dark black hair was parted so it covered one of his eyes. His eyes glowed a deep blue. He caught me looking at him and he grinned. He waved at me, then disappeared into the shadows. My legs felt weak and I fell to the ground.

I jumped up in my bed, my heart hammering against my chest. What happened? The door creaked opened and I looked over to see who it was. Ivy stood there with a worried expression on her face.
"Scar?" she whispered. I waved to her and she runs to me,"Scar, you scared me! You just collapsed all of a sudden and that guy was about to use that chance to kill us, but Hugo was all like 'bang bang' with his gun and-" I held up my hand and she quieted. She crawled closer to me and I rubbed her head gently. A message to her saying that I was okay. She snuggled closer to me and Hugo stood silently in the doorway. I could see that he had some bandages around his arms and body.
"I'm okay." he said sensing my concern. I nodded slowly and got out of the bed. Ivy followed closely behind. I walked out of the room and looked out the window. The blood was still stained crimson on the ground. Pieces of bodies was strewn around everywhere. My eyes wandered to the alley; nothing and no one. I turned to Hugo and looked at him. I didn't have to say anything and he understood. He nodded and I went out of the apartment. Ivy was about to follow me, but Hugo put his hand on her shoulder and stopped her.
"But," she began.
"Not now, okay?" Hugo said. I left the room, the door closing behind me. I walked out of the building and looked at the remaining bodies. I poked a severed hand on the ground then got up and was ready to go back in, but instead, I turned and headed over to the alley. I touched the brick wall, trying to see if I could get a message or anything. I felt a cold presence still hanging around the area. I turned back, ready to leave, but my eyes caught something. A shiny silver necklace laid on the ground. I crouched down and picked it up. It was a locket in the shape of a heart. A wave of nostalgia hit me, but I couldn't quite remember. I opened the locket and stared at it with surprise. I closed the locket suddenly and grasped it tightly in my hand. I turned and began to walk into the apartment. Hugo looked up as I entered the room and I threw the locket at him. He caught it and looked at it.
"What is it?" he asked. I motioned for him to open it and he did. It clicked opened and he peered inside.
"Hmm? What is it? What is it?" Ivy asked coming closer to look at it.
"Wait.... isn't this....?" Hugo asked. I nodded.
"What?" Ivy said and took the locket out of Hugo's hands. She looked inside and tilted her head,"Aw, is this Scar when she was a kid, how cute! But whose this next to her?" Hugo grabbed the locket.
"That's Scar's older sister." he answered.
"Scar has a sister?!" Ivy exclaimed. Hugo nodded.
"And she's not the type that you would get along with." he added.
"Why not?" she asked.
"Because her sister hates her and anything that does with her." he answered.
Hugo threw me back the locket and I give the picture one last look before shutting it.
"But aren't sisters suppose to be happy together?" Ivy asked. I sighed.
Not all sisters are like that.
"Yep, what Scar said, all sister aren't always like that." Hugo said.
"Well then, what did Scar do to make her sister hate her so much?" Ivy asked sitting down on the couch. I looked at Hugo and he nodded.
"Scar killed her lover." Hugo said bluntly. I face-palmed again and shook my head.
You're making me sound like the bad guy.
"Wha-?" Ivy began.
"Okay, okay, Scar's sister's name is Caroline, she had a lover, but the lover was actually using Caroline and would later kill her off along with Scar since he was a bounty hunter. Scar found this out and killed him for the sake of their safety, since you know Scar really admired her sister and cared for her safety. Caroline was too madly in love with him that she didn't believe Scar's story, so she swore to kill her one day. It broke Scar's heart and she ran away. The end." Hugo explained.
You could have at least made it a little dramatic.
He looked at me,"That's all the drama I can do."
"So, you," Ivy said pointing to me,"killed your sister's boyfriend?" I nodded.
Killer boyfriend or not, I thought it was still wrong for her to have a boyfriend.
Hugo smirked and I stared at him. I turned my attention back to Ivy,"That sounds really harsh since your sis loved him, but it seems reasonable since you know.... he tried to kill you and all." I nodded at least Ivy kind of understood the situation. I walked into the kitchen and got myself an apple. I pulled down my mask and began munching away at the kitchen table. Ivy stared at me curiously.
"She's wondering why you always wear that mask." Hugo said. Ivy whipped her head in Hugo's direction.
"You did not just read my mind." Ivy said,"That's invasion of privacy right there!"
"You want to know, don't you?" Hugo asked. Ivy pursed her lips.
"Yes..." she said. Hugo took out another one of his life killing cigarettes. He got out his lighter and tried to light his cigarette, but his lighter was out of fuel.
"Tch." he said under his breath. Ivy grinned suddenly.
"Aren't you pathetic Hugo? Ivy giggled.
"What did you say midget?" Hugo said looking at Ivy menacingly. Ivy shrugged.
"All you can do is read minds. I could easily beat you." she challenged. Hugo stood up.
"Don't get too cocky, kid." Hugo said.
Uh, how did we go from us talking about my murder case to who's stronger between you two?
"Get used to it Scar, we're the most random group of killers you'll ever know." Hugo answered. Ivy looked at me and came to my side. She looked up at me with her big sparkling eyes.
"You think I'm stronger, right, Scar?" she asked me.
"In your dreams girly." Hugo mumbled. She stared at him, lightning bolts striking out of their eyes. I smiled mischievously underneath my mask.
Then let's see who's stronger.
Hugo looked at me and grinned.
"What is it, Scar?" he asked.
How about we play a game?
"Oh, oh what is she saying?" Ivy asked.
"She wants to play a game." Hugo answered still a little bit ticked with Ivy.
"What kind of game? I love games!" Ivy said, her childish self showing.
We're going to go see who's stronger, Ivy or Hugo.
Hugo nodded slowly.
"Interesting game." he said. Ivy looked at Hugo, he explained it to her and her face lit up.
"So it's a battle?!" she asked. I nodded and she clapped her hands together,"Let's go, now! I have an urge to see more blood today." She darted towards the door and looked back at us. Hugo rolled his eyes and I stood up, ready to follow her. I walked towards Hugo, he had the unlit cigarette still in his mouth, I held up my pointer finger and a small flame floated. I lit his cigarette and began walking away. I looked back at him.
You know how I hate how you smoke, but I know that it helps you calm your skill better. You don't want the same mistake to happen again, right?
He shook his head and smiled, following me outside.
