Allies' House
The Brit hurries down the stairs. He's heading to his secret room.
"They left," he says. "I need to go to the basement. There's something I need to verify in my secret room. Before I do that..."
He goes back into the bedroom and to the table to his left. He first observes the picture.
I once asked Canada to make a picture about the vivid dreams he had been having lately, Britain thinks. A like-side castle is quite an interesting setting for a dream.
He moves onto the medical papers next to the picture.
The difference between coma and comatose: one is a state of unindefinite sleep, and one describes being in a said state.
Britain looks over at Canada. "Matthew... I hope it's not what I think it is."
Lastly, he faces the mirror. "... Stay in there, you little... thing."
Finally, he heads downstairs and to his basement. He knows the basement is locked with bars, so he casts a spell to transfer himself to the other side of the bars. The room is nearly dark, candles lit far apart.
"Where could that book be?" England questions himself. "I know it's here somewhere."
The Brit scans around as he squints his eyes, hoping to find that book. The first book he caught is his latest bodice ripper, which is something he'll get back to when this situation is over. The next thing is called Arcana Magica. That is a book he should have paid attention to more, but he did not. The third book is called Velveteen Rabbit, a children's book for him. He also found another children's book called Peter Rabbit, a book Sealand, the British man's twelve-year-old younger brother, favored over.
He is at the last part of the basement, and he has not yet found the book he's been searching for. He takes a glimpse of the mirror.
"... I look tired, too," Britain confesses to himself before turning away.
As he walks to search for the book, a shadow follows behind him. The shadow makes sure that he doesn't get caught, especially when England had caught him in the upstairs room. England has no notice of the shadow, since his attention is to find the book. Finally, he finds it at the table and opens the book, his eyes scanning through the pages.
"There it is!" he exclaims, the shadow hovering behind him. "Just what I need."
The shadow says no word.
With instinct, he says, "I know you're there."
The shadow, warned, disappears.
Britain swivels around, and he discerns nobody, sighing. "One of these days I'm going to say that, and there's actually going to be something there." He closes and holds the book besides him. "Anyway, I should head to the meeting room."
The Brit egresses from his basement.
-
Russia, France, Japan are already in the meeting room. They await for the rest of the members coming to the meeting.
The Russian chuckles. "We haven't had one of these in a while.~"
"That is true," the Frenchman agrees, "but I believe all of our mortal friends will be attending this meeting as well. I wonder what this meeting is about. Let's hope Angleterre has an explanation for this."
The Japanese silently nods. "Hai. It is strange for Arthur to gather us this early today."
A couple of footsteps are being heard, so the trio in the room turns their attention towards the source of the sound. In comes the room are Australia, New Zealand, and a Australian mortal, Dreamz.
"Hey, mates," she greets as she takes her seat, her Australian accent thick.
Australia and New Zealand sit around Dreamz, just in case something berserk happens to her. Dreamz notices that her—sometimes, she can't bare herself saying this word—albino boyfriend isn't in the room.
"Where's Gil?" she asks.
"I am not sure," Japan replies. "He is probably not going to come either way."
Dreamz nods.
Another mortal, Jenna, enter the room with a Mexican nation, the two sitting down. "Hey, guys. What's going on?"
"No clue," Shelby, an American mortal, answers as she appears in the room, taking a seat. "I hope this is serious."
"Aiyah," China butts in with Sammi, the fourth mortal. "Do we have to be here? It's early in my time!"
"Alfred said it was an emergency meeting," Sammi repeats although her face is drooping. "We have to be here."
"KIKU!"
Japan glances frantically everywhere before being hugged by his girlfriend. Annalise has arrived, along with an somewhat insecure Taylor and her very worried sister named Hope.
"A-ah, Anna-chan!" He tenses up.
"Hello, little Sunflower," the Russian sweetly calls to his friend.
"Hey, Ivan." Hope returns a smile at him, planting her butt on her chair. Her smile falters off as her mind wanders to someone specific.
"Is Lovino coming?" Taylor questions as she sits down.
"He's not," a new voice pops in.
Her eyes, along everyone else's, glance towards the Vietnamese girl who's face is quite stoic. However her top teeth are grinding on her bottom lip. Seborga comes up behind her, his expression somewhat sorrowful.
"Sebastian and I didn't want to worry Lovino about... him," Thaovy adds as she sits down in her seat. "That's why he's not gonna come. Don't worry, Tay. Antonio's with him."
The Canadian nods in acknowledgement. "Thanks."
"No prob." Thaovy slightly smiles.
Thaovy's smile disappear which makes Seborga more worried. He knows that her brother in a deep sleep is affecting her, and he does not want her sad. The Italian attempts to hug her, but she nudges away from him. That causes a little crack in his heart. America then strolls in the room. He doesn't seem to be loud; he is silent for once.
Shelby takes a notice of the change. "Alfred?"
He doesn't respond to his girlfriend, so she lays it off. Germany, finally, is the last one to walk in the crowded room. He scans the room and notes to himself that all of the nations and mortals he and America called are here. He takes his time to chat through everyone before he lands on Japan.
"Ludwig-san, do you know why we are here?" Japan asks his friend.
"Something bad is happening," Germany states, "and I hope that Brit has the answers by now."
"Then where's Feliciano-san?" Japan adds curiously.
The German does not want to reply, so the conversation leads to an awkward silence between the two. Japan observes his friend's face and comes up with a conclusion.
"Oh. I see," Japan responds hesitantly. "I am sorry."
After another awkward moment, Germany sits down between Thaovy and Japan. He gets aware of the Vietnamese girl's emotionless face. She is staring into space, her mind not focusing on her surroundings.
England now enters the room, all eyes focusing on the Brit. Everyone is curious about the meeting. They are all muttering to their friends, but Britain cuts them off.
"I'm sure you all are wondering why we've brought you here today," Britain announces to the nations and mortals.
"Yes, I want to know why you got me up so early for this," the Chinese man complains, Sammi trying to hold him down.
"Yes, it is very important," England continues. "We are under attack by a creature from another world... one in which had been thought to be extinct at this point."
The Brit heads to the chalkboard. He picks up a piece of chalk to draw on it. As soon as he is finished, he writes a word on the top and moves out of the way for everyone can see the drawing. The drawing is absolutely hideous and horrendous. This figure he had drawn does not look specific to what the figure actually does. Its hands are sharp and pointy-looking, his hair is shaped like sideways mountains, and the face only looks psychotic, in a cartoon way.
The nations and mortals glance at the picture in confusion and horror. The nations and some mortals aren't believing on what they had experienced. The rest of the mortals, however, are stiffing their laughter, especially Dreamz who can't seem to stop.
"This, ladies and gentlemen, is the beast," he states. "A Faucherêve."
"A dream reaper?" France has translated the French word.
"Please, I can draw better than that," Dreamz brags, her laughter not dying down.
England returns her a death glare, but she doesn't see the glare.
China attempts to pronounce the name. "Fow...chur...rehv? That doesn't make any sense!"
"So this is all about your imaginary friends?" Russia concludes. "I think you need to get more rest."
"ARTHUR!" America shouts. "This is serious, so don't try to pin all of this crap on a fairy or whatever! It's not funny!"
"I know it's not!" England protests. "I'm telling you this is all real!"
Dreamz starts to fume up. "Is it more real than you? 'Cause I think this is all a big hoax!"
"Dreamz, calm down..." Hope warns with a serious tone.
"Why should I!? If this asshole is trying to explain that an imaginary figure has done something horrible, then I'm starting to think this meeting is hopeless!"
France agrees with her. "I agree. It's beginning to look like this meeting is pointless, Angleterre!"
The arguments begin to slowly increase in volume. Other nations but Seborga join the argument. Hope, Taylor, Jenna, Annalise, and Shelby are trying to end this fight, but they all eventually bring themselves in the argument as well. Australia and New Zealand are forcing Dreamz to stay back and not to try murdering Britain. Seborga cowers underneath the table. Thaovy remains in her chair with closed eyes and an intense yet calm face.
"What do you think, Germany?" Japan asks through the fighting.
Germany thinks of all of the possibilities of letting England talk or end the meeting instantly. He believes that England is trying to give an answer to the nations, but it's not believable.
"Y'ALL SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTHS!"
The noise flickers to an end as everyone looks at Thaovy. Her eyes look murderous, and it's scaring her mortal friends. Not many people has seen this side of her before.
"Everyone of y'all are acting like fools. Is this is what y'all do—besides us mortals—at every fucking meeting!? Just arguing and fighting all the time, and no work ever gets done!? This is ridiculous, even for me! This fighting is at an end now." She takes a break. "Look. Just look at me, Annalise, Taylor, Jenna, all of us mortals. We are tired from your pointless arguments. Arguing is not helping anything at all, especially to you Dreamz." She glances at Dreamz. "If you guys want to settle the point Arthur is making, you guys should let someone trustworthy to decide. Ludwig?"
Germany sighs. "... Let him talk."
Thaovy gasps in surprise. "You're with him!? I thought you are gonna s—"
"Let's at least hear him out since he brought us all here to discuss it," he interrupts.
Russia smiles a little. "All right, sounds fair to me.~"
Hope nods, other mortals following her. "It's reasonable."
"This better be good," China states.
"I agree," Thaovy adds. "I am not gonna waste my time on some shitty topic you're bring up, Arthur, but it better be worth of my time."
"Oh, okay. I won't mind listening to Angleterre's delusions a little longer," France comments.
Dreamz butts in. "Same here."
America uncomfortably stays silent, but Shelby leans to her boyfriend and grabs his hand.
"Don't worry, Al," Shelby assures in a soft voice. "I'm sure this is going to be helpful."
He only nods back at her.
England nods to the German. "Thank you, Ludwig. Now, a Fauchereve is a creature who gets in touch with the human world through dreams, thus being called a 'dream reaper' as Francis pointed out."
"But what does that have to do with us?" The Chinese man points out.
"I'm getting into that. Today at about two forty, Matthew has fallen into a coma," Britain says.
"Who?" Russia questions.
"Your next door neighbor," Britain answers, the Russian nodding in confirmation.
"Wh-what!? Is he okay!?" France frantically demands.
"We're not sure, but we do know that he is not the only one affected. Isn't that right, Germany?" The Brit looks over at Germany.
"Ja. Both Roderich and Feliciano have fallen into a coma, Austria at three thirty-five and Italy at two o'clock on the dot."
"Whoa, hold up!" America halts. "So Italy was the first one to be hit by this!?"
"It would seem that way." England slightly looks down.
"Do you hear yourselves talking!? This is nonsense!" China complains.
"Yao!" Sammi shouts. "You shouldn't say something like that!"
"I'd hate to interrupt, Sammi-san, but he is right," Japan butts in. "All of this sounds sort of ridiculous. I don't think it could be a dream creature that was at fault for them falling asleep."
"It does sound odd, but there's no other explanation, is there?" Germany claims.
"... May I continue, if you please?" England asks.
"Go ahead," Annalise responds.
"Anyway, the creature has a habit of lurking in peoples' reflections and is able to transform into the person that its victim most admires, whether it be a lover, a child, a pet, a parent- anything. In dreams, it masquerades as the said person and fullfills any wish you may have, filling you with the need to sleep more in order to continue as it enjoys its company."
"It must take my form all the time then." France cues himself with his signature laugh.
"Having some nice dreams actually sounds pretty good," China comments. "What's so wrong about this creature?"
"What's wrong is that the more you slip into that dreamland, the harder it is to get out. Until finally your mind disconnects from reality entirely. You fall into an eternal sleep while in the real world, your body rots away."
The room is filled with silence.
America breaks the silence. "... So you're saying... that Matthew is going to die?"
"Mon dieu!" France screams.
"Are you kidding me!?" Hope screeches.
"That's not always the case, though. If someone's will is strong enough, they can see past the illusion and keep the curse at bay, at the least."
"... What does its true form look like if we see past the illusion?" Germany asks.
"Well, often times like the dead, from what few accounts have been obtained from victims who survived it. Whoever this creature is masquerading about as, that person is decomposing in the shadows. It is also likely that if you do so past the illusion, the creature will have no idea you're seeing it for what it really is," he explains further in.
Germany comes in a realization. "So that's what I saw!"
"Yes, you saw the creature in person. Well, in a way. You were able to see pasts its tricks, but sadly that is not the case for others," England adds.
"... Yes, I did. He was in the form of Feliciano only... He seemed to be consumed in shadows, and I feel like it's not the first time I've seen him in my dreams."
"It's likely that this has all been happening for some time right under our noses," the Brit finally concludes.
"That bastard!" America shouts.
"Well, if Ludwig saw it, maybe it's not so silly after all," Russia claims.
"First, we need to gather all of the coma victims," Britain starts. "It will be easier to monitor them then." He faces Germany. "I'm counting on you to get Italy and Austria, since they are the closest to you."
"We can get them with you, Ludwig," Seborga suggests. "I can help you with my fratello while V—Thaovy here can help your fratello with Roderich."
"Sure, why not," Thaovy mutters, looking downwards.
"Can I come with?" Japan asks.
"Sure!" Sebastian replies with a smile.
"Danke, Kiku, Thaovy, and Sebastian," Germany says.
The four leave the room.
"As for the rest of you, I am going to make a potion that will allow us to enter the dream realm so that we may try to exorcise the demon ourselves," England continues. "I'm afraid that's the only way we can save Matthew... and the rest of them."
"What should we do?" Jenna questions.
"Call your families and make sure they're all right. Let them know what's going on for us nations, especially there is a chance we won't be coming back. Mortals, attempt to lie on them."
The seven mortals nod.
"Well, if we die in the dreamworld... our minds will disconnect from our bodies, and we will die in reality as well. We must be careful," the Brit warns as he leaves. "It'll be even more trouble if we don't hurry."
"I'm going to check on Mattie," America states.
"Me too," the Frenchman follows.
"... I'm going as well," Hope adds in, her voice soft.
The three leave after Britain.
"... So.~ All of this magic and dreams business is pretty exciting, huh?" Russia asks the rest of the remaining people.
"I guess," China answers before yawning really loudly.
"Oh, you sound tired. Maybe you should take a nap before we go about this," the Russian suggests.
"Sounds good to me. Sammi?" China calls to his girlfriend.
"Yes, please," Sammi begs.
"I'm coming with," Russia adds. "I'll protect you and Sammi from the evil Fauchereve.~" He laughs after that.
They leave as well.
Five mortals and three nations are left in the room in silence.
Annalise says out of no where, "I remember that Arthur has a room where there are beds at, along with some magic inside there. Should we go there?"
"I don't see why not," Mexico replies as the eight jump out of their seats and follow Annalise.
