two men, one woman
"It's like history repeating itself, like mother like daughter."
Surprisingly, mom, dad, Sky and I enter the hall together. It feels like we're actually a real family. I wouldn't have needed Andreas here, but mom insisted on doing this together. I think she feels the same and just wants to be with the family.
Obviously, Andreas and her still like each other so she wouldn't want to decide between him and us. Sky also joined us because we both know how important this is for mom. "It'll be fine", mom whispers to me as I rub my hands nervously.
I nod not wanting her to worry and sit down on my seat watching everyone else come in. "Hey", Stella greets me as she walks by and I stand up to hug her. "You're here as well?", I ask surprised but glad about her being here. I've spent way too little time with her the past weeks.
"Of course, S", she chuckles, "We're princesses, remember?" "Wait, I'm here for being a part of Eraklyon's leading family not because of Rosalind?", I ask confused and she nods amused. "You might not want to emphasize that you're someone important, but you're still the princess of Eraklyon."
I nod slowly realizing that Rosalind still plays games. She couldn't decide whether one of our family can sit here or not. We're supposed to be here. Still, she made us feel like we need her to be somewhere together.
"How are you doing?", Stella asks pointing to Stephen with her head. Why is he here? I'm pretty confused now. "Saul and him have always been members here", Stella tells me and I nod.
"It's complicated but I'll tell you about it next time. You need to enjoy the evening with your uncle. I know you've missed him", I say letting her go to her uncle. We could talk to each other on the next day as well.
"What's so interesting about Saul's brother?", Andreas mumbles while we're having dinner. Sky sits next to Bloom and mom and dad have chosen the seat in front of us so Andreas can perfectly watch who or what I'm looking at.
"Just wondering how he's doing", I lie just a little. "He should take care of himself. There's no need for you to look out for him", Andreas says with his mouth still full with food. "Andreas", Stella's uncle speaks up, "Someday you're coming to the capital and take lessons from Stella's teachers in decency. At least Sky and Scar were lucky to be growing up with Saul."
Before anyone else says something, Stella tries to make him shut up but of course, he doesn't stop once he's started his speech. "Oh come on, you know that it's right. At least Sky has made better decisions and fished the fairy who's transformed. Thank god, Scar has experienced the same. Those powers make up for the decoration on her face."
Yeah, as if his behavior is somewhat better. I've finally learned to accept who I am which involves this scar. "I don't fish for fairies", Sky defends us, "And my sister is good just as she is." "Do you want some water?", Stella asks him once again but he shakes his head.
"Don't be a spoilsport. I prefer some champagne." "Can you hold yourself back a little?", Stella says once again politely. "Are all of you such spoilsports?" "No but you behave like an asshole", Sky intervenes annoyed making me giggle. Well, someone had to say it.
"What did you say to me?" "Were you too busy focusing on your champagne?", Stephen joins this conversation, "Do we need to emphasize that you're an asshole?" "You are aware of being an absolutely nobody, right?", Stella's uncle says sharply looking from Stephen to Sky and back, "Less than a nobody. I've got cleaning staff who are more worth than you two boys."
"Hey, don't talk to them like that", Stella warns her uncle, "You can't come here and be so respectless to my friends. Every word that you've said was unwillingly or willingly hurtful and you're drunk. Now I'm a spoilsport. Have some water."
Oh god, poor Stella. She's just made her uncle her enemy. He hates being told to have some water. He's an addict. "Your mom was right. You've changed. It's a shame. You can forget about the stone for now", Stella's uncle states standing up and leaves. It's great that he's left but I give her a worried look. "What is he talking about?", I ask her. "Tomorrow", Stella answers shortly.
The party continues after the dinner and others are changing their seats to talk to someone else but we stay where we are. Sky's waiting for Bloom to come back, I watch Stephen and also dad and mom look like they're a young couple.
Is that what they've looked like when they were young? Did she actually love him? I'm done worrying or watching Stephen so I go outside to get some fresh air. This whole event is freaking me out.
It started so good and I was happy for Sky that we actually spend this evening as a family which involves Bloom. I know what it's like when the partner is not accepted in the family. Him and Bloom deserve any support that we can give them.
I see Riven standing in front of the school and smile relieved. I'm about to step closer when Flora appears to my view as well. Riven's clearly flirting with her. I know what his flirting looks like. I sigh rolling my eyes about how I was stupid enough to believe that we were so close again.
"You're cold", I hear Stephen behind me, "Come on, let's get you back in and warm up." Without asking, he lays his jacket around my shoulders and I smile at him thankfully. "Thank you", I mouth and follow him inside. "How was dinner with Andreas?", Stephen asks interestedly.
"It was fine, actually pretty fine. Mom and dad seem like they're quite happy to have each other. Dad was even talking to Bloom, Sky and I a bit. I wouldn't complain if it'll be like this from now on." "I'm happy for you", Stephen smiles at me shyly as we enter the dining room again.
