confrontation

"It's harder but better to speak up. Fight for something instead of comfortably stay back."

Freedom and peace was fun while it lasted. There wasn't even time for me to talk to my mom again before Saul made the specialists come together to prepare for an actual war. Some understand how serious the situation is a lot better than others.

"I just don't understand why we don't fight yet", I hear Dane complain as he walks by followed, Saul being right behind him. "Simply because you're still students", Saul explains. I'm glad that Saul is our new principal but he's got a lot more responsibility than before so Sky and I can't talk to him as much as before. He's just in complete war mode.

"No, we're specialists and we've been trained for this", Dane argues. When will this hormone driven boy ever stop annoying me? He should learn to listen to orders or at least criticize them only when he knows better.

"No, you've been trained to know how to fight after you've finished school and if you want to be good soldiers then impress the Solarian soldiers with a filled reserve." "What a-" "We're just damn servants who are supposed to have fun being damn servants", Riv interrupts Dane and I'm kind of glad about him shutting Dane up.

"Language and mindset, both of you! I won't say it twice", Saul calls after them and looks at me. "Please, no lecture", I groan knowing what he would say. Thanks for nothing, Riven. He provokes Saul and I get to hear a lecture. 'This is exactly what I meant when I said that he's no good.'

I can already read the look on his face. "So we just shut up and ignore the fact that one of us has been forced to wear bonds that dig deep into her skin?", Riven snaps at Saul harshly and even I am surprised by the sharpness in his voice.

"Riv", I warn him nudging him softly, still give him a weak but thankful smile. "Do we have a problem here?", Stephen stops next to us when he passes by and I could actually slap myself for ending up in another uncomfortable situation like this one.

"I don't have a problem", Riven shrugs raising his brows in annoyance, "Scar just deserves someone a lot more caring by her side and as her family members. Someone who wouldn't put metal bonds around her wrists in order to keep her still when all of us know that we need her."

"It's better not to judge when you're on the outside of a matter, Riven", Stephen replies strictly and I furl my eyebrows. Riven starting this fight is one thing but him joining and letting it escalate? That's something completely new to me and I honestly don't like it.

Jealousy is not supposed to be a part of his character apart from the fact that he's being harsh. "I know a lot more than you think", Riven growls back. The other students enjoy the show by now but they've faded out in my view. I only concentrate on what's happening right in front of me.

"You know nothing, Riven. This is not your family and as far as I'm concerned, you're not even dating anymore so do yourself a favor and get your work done", Stephen snaps back. "This is exactly why I didn't want any feelings to be involved here", Saul complains strictly turning towards me as if I needed a lecture, "We're specialists and we're in the middle of a war. Get back to work."

"How are we supposed to get back to work when you're the one who put these damn metal bonds around Scar's wrists?", Riven growls angrily so that even I am surprised now, "There's literally blood on her wrists dripping down each day not to mention the pain she feels. And for what? She's the last person who could possibly hurt any of us. If anything, we need her and her powers. And even thought she's hurting, she's still here giving her best to help."

"That'll always be your issue, Riven", Stephen replies provokingly but calmly, "You're too fast too emotional about something for which is no space on the battlefield." I'm about to intervene when Riven's too quick and puffs. "And that's your problem. You don't love her enough to-"

"Enough!", Saul shouts loudly before Riven can push his lifted fist into Stephen's face and before Stephen could push his fist into Riven's stomach. "Dane, Riven, you're going to go back to the field cleaning it up with Musa and Scar, you're going back to your room."

"Excuse me?", I scoff not understanding why I would have to be pushed back now. What about Stephen? He's an actual teacher but lost control for the first time today. "Go. Now", Saul orders harshly and I decide to do what he says.

He wouldn't give in anyways even if I discussed this with him. He'll see how happy I'll be about it when he talks to me later. "He loves you deeply", Kat whispers towards me as I give her the bag that I was holding before. I know that she's talking about Riven and she's right. I smile at her weakly and leave.

If Saul doesn't want me here or doesn't need my help, I won't force myself on him. It's just not okay how he's talking to Riven and me differently than to Stephen. They might be brothers, but right now, they're teachers. Even if Stephen words were true, he shouldn't have spoken to a student in this way.

"Scar, you're already back? Aren't you supposed to-" Terra greets me as soon as I enter the suite. I sigh. I wouldn't be mad about being alone for some time. Terra's great but my battery for social interactions is empty.

"Riven picked up a fight with Saul and Stephen about me so Saul ordered me to come back here." "What about the others?", Terra asks interested but full of pity for me so I shrug it off. "It's fine."

"Were all of the specialists there?", Terra asks slightly too excitedly so I know the reason behind this question. I've noticed the way she looks at Kat. Since she's told us that she is gay, I realized what the look on her face means. It's completely fine for me, Terra's a lovely girl, but Kat's got a girlfriend sadly.

"Kat was there as well but she didn't say much", I tell her honestly and soften my voice, "I know that you like her, I could see it. But don't get your hopes too high as long as she's got a girlfriend. It's complicated but they're still together." "Oh", Terra frowns but quickly smiles again just like she always does. "Come on, let's sit down", I tell her letting her tell me more about her feelings.
