a prince
"Six months to fall in love with a stranger - time's running."
Olivia's POV:
"How is she doing?", Stephen asks me as soon as I call him back. Poor boy. I know he's grown up to a young man by now but he'll always be Saul's little brother in my eyes. He's been a loving a child and he became an even better man from what I can tell. Stephen is calm and thoughtful, but also confident enough to speak up when needed. Which is why I'm wondering why he wouldn't do so around Scar.
"She's trying to hide her fear", I tell him honestly and try to be as quiet as possible so Saul wouldn't hear me from the other room. I'm mostly tryign to calm him down. I don't like being involved in this either but Saul wouldn't stop thinking about a plan to help her. "Has a date for the coronation already been set?"
"Not exactly. They're figuring something out between August and September. She's got about eight months to be ready." "And the other important dates? Is anything going to happen before the coronation?" I don't need to have mind magic to know what he's asking for. "The marriage is to be set in May or June. Six months."
"Six months", Stephen whispers through the phone. I wait for a moment in case he needs some time to really understand what I've just said. None of us can believe it. My daughter is expected to be married in a few months. I hoped that she would be able to spend her twenties studying or travelling like I did until my mom got sick and I had to work in that bar. I mean I got to know Saul and Andreas there which is the key to me being here but it doesn't have to be the same for Scar.
She's always worried about her powers and her scar and I wished that she would have some time to find peace. I wonder what it was like for Andreas to get married to me in the United States of Earth. Why didn't he tell me about Eraklyon? How was he even able to do it when law is so strict here? Why has Saul never talked to me about it?
"Have you already met that guy?", Stephen asks frustratedly making me feel sad for him. It's hard enough to not know what they are during war but now that they're over before they've started.. "No", I answer softly, "We were told that he'd arrive tonight. From what I know he's a prince." "Of course he is", Stephen mutters, "Damn Eraklyon law. Which nation is he from? Do I know him? Every prince has to be in their nation's army before."
Stephen could indeed know him as he's been a soldier the past years but from what I know, he's been in Solaria. "I only know that he's from the Triad Kingdoms. They didn't mention a name." "Triad Kingdoms.. Alright. He can't be from Solaria. That would be an interest of conflict for Queen Luna. William wouldn't risk this.. He can't be from the Kingdom of Sparks or else Eraklyon and Sparks would be so much more powerful than Solaria. But if he's from Eraklyon.. He could look like Sky, you know. I think you should find someone else, Liv. The same-"
"They are trying to set them up as quickly as possible so it's less forced if they fall in love before getting married", I interrupt Stephen knowing that he's just making a story up to be able to forget about his actual problem, "If you want to see her-" "No, no", I can hear him literally shaking his head, "No, Liv. I mean thank you but.. Don't tell her that I called you. Just make sure that she's not being forced into a cold relationship, I'm begging you." "We're trying our best, Stephen", I promise him hoping that all of us are happy in nine months.
"Saul, we need to talk", I tell him as soon as Stephen hung up. I can't stop thinking about all of these things that he hasn't told me about. "Now's a bad time, Liv", Saul replies stressed as he puts his suit on, "Scar's.. The prince has arrived. We have to be downstairs for welcoming him."
"This can't wait for too long", I make clear but also understand the importance so I change my clothes as well. "What can't wait for too long?", Saul asks me worriedly, his eyes wide open. "You know what I'm talking about", I reply coldly. The more I think about, the more I am disappointed, "Come on." What a timing. Stephen just asked about him, now I'm going to meet my daughter's future husband.
"Olivia, Saul", we are greeted by William as we stand in front of the entrance. "Where's Scar?", I ask him confused. He's going to be her husband so she should also meet him first. "I've asked Alani to train her in royal behavior this afternoon", Saul replies before William could speak up. How could he not tell me this let alone plan her schedule with me? I hoped that she would be the first to see him so no one could tell her their opinion before making up her own.
What if everyone is pleased with the young man? She wouldn't dare tell anyone that she doesn't want to marry him at all. She'd just pretend that this is normal. None of this is normal. Scar doesn't need any behavior lessons. I look at Saul disappointedly but William points to the black Range Rovers arriving. In the name of King Harold, please let him be a good man. Please..
"Prince Alexander from the kingdom of Sparx", William greets the young man who reminds me of Stephen right away by taking a gentle bow. As soon as he turns to us, I'm about to do the same but he shakes his head. Well, no one's ever told me how to be the mother of a princess. "It's my pleasure, Olivia", he smiles at me gently and gives me his hand.
"Prince Alexander, welcome to Eraklyon", I improvise hoping to speak politely enough. "Thank you. I'm thankful for the opportunity to come here", he continues and moves on to Saul, "Mr. Silva. I've heard a lot. I was hoping for a challenge between you and I." Saul tries to hide his chuckle when giving his hand to the young man. "I try to avoid having any issues with the royal family of Sparx", Saul jokes slightly. "You're excused by myself." "Alright, we'll find a free morning but for now, let's head to William's office."
