Chapter 7
Frostkit and Shadekit sat at the edge of camp. "Is Mistkit still asleep?"Shadekit groaned as he looked up at the sky. "It's past sunhigh." he continued. "I'll get her!" Frostkit said excitedly as she ran off.
Frostkit put her muzzle right next to Mistkit's ear, "WAKE UP!" she yowled. Hissing, Mistkit jumped up and clawed Frostkit's face. "Ow......" Frostkit whined, tapping the scratch on her nose with a paw. "Serves you right! Why are you going around yowling in my ear this early in the morning?" Mistkit growled. "It's past sunhigh, Mistkit. Its time to get up." Frostkit reasoned. "You still didnt have to scream it...." Mistkit mumbled as she followed Frostkit to the center of the camp.
"Where'd you get that scratch from Frostkit?" Shadekit asked. "Ask Mistkit." she answered simply. "She yowled in my face. My ears are still ringing...." Sighing, Shadekit looked at Frostkit, "What do you guys want to play? Warrior and Mouse? " he asked. "As long as I'm not the mouse!" Frostkit purred. Shadekit looked at Mistkit, "You should be the mouse since you woke up last. I'll be the mouse next." "Fine," Mistkit said, then darted off. She could hear them running behind her. She swerved underneath the bracken of the camp walls and hid there. She heard Frostkit and Shadekit's paws stop just outside. "Come out here so I can catch you mouse!" Frostkit said in mock-anger. "Never!" Mistkit said as she rain deeper into the brambles, but her fur got caught on some of the thorns. Shadekit padded up to her easily, as his fur was so short it couldnt fet tangled up in thorns, and nipped her tail softly. "I win!" he grinned. "Great job, now will you help me out of here? Im stuck." Shadekit unsheathed his claws and cut off the thinner pieces, but a long, thick piece was stuck to her fur. "Come on, maybe one of the warriors will help us." He said his voice a bit muffled as he was holding back a bit of it so that Mistkit didn't get even more stuck.
Frostkit laughed loudly at Mistkit when she saw the large, green stick of thorns stuck to her fur. "Shut up...." mumbled Mistkit as she passed her and padded into Cherryshade's den. "Cherryshade, you are good at taking out thorns aren't you?" she said to the medicine cat, who turned around from sorting herbs. "Did you get another thorn in your pa-....oh dear....." Cherryshade drifted off as she stifled a purr of ammusement and began tugging on the stick with her teeth. Eventually, the thorns came out, along with many tufts of Mistkit's fur. "Your the mouse this time Frostkit," she said to her sister.
