After a few weeks, neither of the two had talked. Dan had been avoiding Phil ever since he starting figuring out everything. He realised that what he felt for Phil was special, and Phil taught him to accept it to be okay. But that doesn't stop Dan from being scared to talk to the guy he likes.
Every once in awhile, Phil would try to talk to Dan, code word being 'try'. He didn't want to talk to Phil, and kept moving away whenever he tries. Finally after many attempts of trying to speak to him, he gave up. If Dan wasn't going to talk, there was no use trying. He just scared away another attempt at a friend.
Dan starting feeling bad for what he was doing to Phil, but he couldn't help it. He knew what his parents would say if they found out what Phil was like and how he felt about him. Phil's parents probably felt the same, seeing as he lives with his grandmother.
-
Dan quickly fixed his fringe before heading to school that morning. He quickly got on his uniform and everything finished before walking out the door, yelling goodbye to his mother.
He stood on the doorstep as he took a second to watch the raindrops fall like shards of glass from the sky. He sighed and put on his headphones, playing Blink 182 First Date and threw his hands in his pockets as he walked.
He stopped in front of a cafe shop that was on the way of the walk when he saw something through the window. It was a guy with short brown hair sitting next to a guy with long black hair as they laughed. As he got closer he recognized one of the guys as...Phil? What was he doing here? His flat was the complete other way.
He stepped inside and grabbed a drink, trying to hear what the two were so happy over. He took a sip of his tea as he leaned against a wall near the two as he listened in on them.
"Yea, we used to be great lads, but now it's like he's TRYING to avoid me! Did I do something?" The brown haired guy laughed. "Oh, Philly, you probably didn't even do anything. You're too kind to even scare him away. If anything, this 'Daniel' seems like a nice boy."
Dan blushed a bit hearing the compliment. At least someone noticed.
"Yea, nice is one word. Twat is another good one. Oh even better, 'A twat who likes to listen in on conversations'." Phil laughed as he looked over at Dan. Dan flushed darkly. How long did he know?
"N-No! I swear I wasn't listening! J-Just uhm..getting a drink for the walk! Uhm.." Dan coughed nervously as Phil just rested his chin on his hand and smiled at him. "Dan, I know I'm cute and all, but the stalking is a bit much, don't you think mate?" He smirked.
Dan would've blushed more if he could. "Phil, I wasn't stalking you, honest!" Phil just laughed at his reaction. "Dan, I'm only joking, calm down!" He rolled his eyes, amused with how much Dan was freaking out.
Dan stared at Phil a minute as he laughed until Phil noticed. "Staring a bit instensly there, Daniel. Not that I mind." Phil winked jokingly.
Dan rubbed the back of his head and let out a nervous laugh and quickly left out the door and continuing back up the walk.
"Dan, wait for me you spork!" Phil laughed as he jogged to catch up. Dan turned around and smiled. "A twat? Really Phil? Am I that bad?" Phil only replied with a smile. "That's one word." Dan rolled his eyes jokingly. "I don't think I want to hear the others."
They continued to walk as Phil named off words, half of them he didn't even know but only heard.
They reached the church finally, both soaked from the rain since neither brought an umbrella. "Wow Daniel, you look a bit wet." Dan smiled. "Only ever for you, 'Philly'." He laughed and sat down on a bench. Phil sat next to him. "Okay, 1: you just made a sexual joke at me. And 2: don't call me Philly again." He smiled. "Sorry, Philly." Phil only rolled his eyes as Dan laughed. "Shush Danny boy, the priest is speaking." "Ooh, speaking over the priest. I like the naughty type." Dan laughed before finally paying attention, making it Phil's turn to turn a light shade of pink.
-
Phil was packing his bag when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He looked over and saw a little kid from one of the other classes. He bent down to look the kid in the eyes. "Hey cutie, where's your parents?"
The kid didn't say anything and just looked at Phil. Phil tilted his head confused. "Do you need help finding them?" The kid spoke finally. "My mommy and daddy says your bad. They said you like the devil and will hurt us."
Phil sighed. He go this a lot, it didn't bother him much. "Kid, what do you think? Do you think I hate god?"
"Mommy said your gonna make your friend bad too. She said you hurt people and make them bad like you." Phil stood up and put on his bag. "Yes, I do. So you better hurry and go before I feed you to the devil for dinner." The kid screamed and ran away.
"Phil? I knew you were ugly, but did you have to make the kid scream?" Dan came from the bathroom smiling. Phil turned and just laughed. "My face can't be that bad, seeing as you like to stare at it so much." They both laughed. "I only stare to remind myself that trolls really do exist." Dan said before quickly running off, Phil chasing him for his rude comment.
-
Phil fumbled with the keys as he tried unlocking the door to his house. Finally getting it right, he swung open the door and walked in, Dan following after. "Granny, I'm home!" Phil yelled out to the house but didn't hear her reply. He shrugged. "She's probably at the store."
He set his bag next to the couch and took off his uniform jacket. He walked up the spiral steps heading upstairs. Turning down the hall, he stepped into his room and threw the jacket onto his bed before starting to unbutton his shirt.
"Phil, mind if I borrow some clothes? I didn't really bring a spare." Dan chuckled softly. Phil smiled. "Take your pick. Do you prefer black, or black? Actually, you look like you'd prefer black instead." They both laughed as Phil threw a shirt to Dan.
As they changed, Dan couldn't help but look over at Phil. His skin was so milky and looked so soft as his back arched. Standing up gave dimples at the bottom of his spine, and he smiled at noticing this about Phil.
"Enjoying the back of a troll?" Phil laughed. Dan blushed before slipping Phil's shirt over his head. "Shut up, you spork."
Phil left downstairs into the kitchen to find something for them to eat, seeing as they didn't really eat their lunch. They mostly ended up messing around and making a mess instead. Phil noticed a note on the fridge from his grandma and read it.
Dan came up behind Phil and rested his chin on his shoulder. "What's it say? She at the strip club again?" Phil rolled his eyes and smiled. "Unless you would call my aunt and uncle strippers, I don't think so." Dan took a bag of grapes from the fridge and ate one. "What for?" Phi shrugged his shoulders. "Dunno, but she said she might be home late, if at all."
Dan nodded. "More time for us then." He winked. Pihl laughed. "Since when did church boy become such a flirt? I thought that was my job."
Dan shrugged. "Looks like you've been fired." They both laughed.
"Well, either we cook or we order in something." Dan got excited. "Ooh, let's cook! I've been told I'm better than Chef Gordon." Phil just smiled and started pulling out bowls and ingredients to make dinner. "What are even going to be making?" Phil shrugged. "Just throw things together and see what happens, and hope it's edible." He smiled as Dan looked worried but amused.
Phil threw Dan an apron. "Why do you get the one with the body on it?" He laughed. "I deserve the one that looks like me. It's like looking through a hole in my shirt, isn't it?" Dan drew out a 'sure' and laughed.
Finally they started baking, or, at least attempting to. I guess that wouldn't be what you call it either, as soon they weren't even cooking anymore.
"Gordon, huh? I'm surprised you can even name these, much less cook with them! We aren't getting anywhere!" Phil complained. "What? My cooking's good, you're just ruining it." Phil rolled his eyes and threw flour at Dan's face. "If you cook so well, why are you covered in the food instead?" he laughed.
Dan took a handful of flour and threw it back at Phil as it painted over his face and hair. Soon they started throwing food around at each other as Phil threw an egg at him. Dan took an egg as well and smashed it over Phil's hair. Phil grabbed a whisk and starting jabbing it towards Dan as he kept backing away. "Phil, no! You know I hate whisks!" he laughed. Phil smiled and pointed it at Dan again as he backed away.
Whilst backing up, Dan slipped over an egg that had been on the floor and starting falling backwards. He closed his eyes and waited for impact, but it never came. He opened his eyes again to see that Phil had caught him, and their faces were dangerously close to each other.
And could feel Phil's hot breath on his face. "Dan, you seem to have slipped.." Their lips barely touched as Phil spoke. He so badly wanted to lean up and just kiss Phil, but Phil lifted them up and wiped flour of Dan's shoulders before letting him go. "You good mate?" And just nodded before smiling. "I think maybe we should just order in." Phil laughed before agreeing.
Phil called in a Pizza and it arrived only half an hour later, enough time for them to clean up and change. They payed and both sat down on the couch and put on a movie as they ate.
Halfway through the movie, Phil was laying down across the couch, Dan laying in his arms, the song 'If It Means A Lot To You' playing in the background. (i will love you if you know that song) "Phil, can I ask a personal question.." Phil nodded. "Do you like girls or guys?" Phil looked down at And. "Guys mostly, but I've liked girls before too."
Dan nodded at his reply. "Do you like anyone right now?" "Yes." he replied, still looking down at Dan. "Are they a boy or a girl?" Phil thought for a second before answering. "A boy." Dan was scared for the next question as he looked up at Phil. "Is it okay if I like a boy too?" Phil nodded. "You can love whoever and whatever you want."
Dan's eyes moved down to Phil's lips. "Phil.." "Yes?" "Can I ask you another question?" "Of course, Dan." "Have you ever wanted to kiss that guy, the one you like?"
Phil smiled a bit, his eyes flying down to Dan's lips before going back to his eyes. "I find myself wanting to quite a lot." Dan looked back into Phil's eyes. "Why haven't you?" Phil shrugged. "I don't want to scare him away, I guess. He's probably not used to having guys like him." "How do you know he doesn't want you to?"
Phil smirked. "I would still need his permission, wouldn't I?" Dan smiled. "What if he made the move first?" Phil's eyes went back down to Dan's lips once again. "He wouldn't have to, because I think he just gave me permission."
Dan smiled before leaning up, Phil leaning down to meet him in the middle as their lips finally met. Dan's soft lips fit in perfectly with Phil's scarred and rough ones. Their lips moved in sync as Phil pulled And up closer to him. The kiss lasted only 15 seconds at most before they pulled away. "And, can I ask you a personal question as well?" Dan smiled and nodded. "..When you asked those questions, were you confessing something to me?" Phil smirked.
Dan only smiled softly before turnign his head away and resting it on Phil's chest. "That depends, do I need permission to say it?" Phil smiled and kissed the top of And's head. "You don't need permission, bear. Say what you want when you're ready."
Dan looked up at him. "Bear?" "You remind me of a cute bear doll I had as a kid. It was cute and soft and loved cuddles, and I loved it." "So, I'm soft, cuddly, and cute?" Dan chuckled lightly as Phil looked down at him again. "You forgot I loved my bear too." he smiled. "Well I love you too, lion." Phil rolled his eyes. "We have pet names now?"
Dan laughed. "You started it!" Phil smiled and pecked And's lips again before pulling him closer. "Just shush and finish the movie you spork." "Troll." Dan whispered back smiling, cuddling into Phil.
-
Phil's grandma locked the door behind her as she stepped inside, removing her coat and shoes. Walking down the hall, she saw the bit of mess they forgot to clean and smiled to herself. "Those kids.." She head down the hall a bit more, walking into the living room where she heard the TV still on. She turned it off before turning to the two lying asleep together on the couch. Smiling, she pulled a blanket nearby and covered them with it. Petting Phil's head, she whispered to herself.
"I know you don't want to be hurt again, but please don't hurt him either. You're a good kid Phillip.." She walked away and into her bedroom, sitting down onto her bed. She looked to her bedside table and picked up a photo frame, a tear sliding down her cheek as she smiled.
"I know you're still watching over him. I think this kid can help Phillip as much as he can help him too. I hope so, I'm too old to be around to watch him forever." She laughed a little. "Oh, I miss you sweetheart." She held the frame close to her chest as she laid down, another tear rolling down her cheek as she fell asleep.
-
Dan wiped his thumb lightly over the cut in Phil's lip. "Phil, I'm so sorry. This shouldn't have happened-"
Phil grabbed Dan's wrist and smiled. "Dan, I'm fine, really." Dan let a tear slip as he pulled Phil into him. "I know it was him who did this, I'll stop him, I promise. You don't deserve this..."
