Chapter 6
No one seemed to pay attention to the car that turned sharply into the driveway. Didn't even look twice as its tires squealed to a stop in front of the small check in gate.
"Name?" A barely qualified guard asked sternly, sizing up the black porsche.
The driver's side window let down slowly to reveal a man wearing dark sunglasses. He stuck his arm out, holding a paper out for the guard. "He's expecting me."
The guard nodded and pushed the button for the metal arm to raise up. "Have a nice night."
"Will do." The driver answered, rolling back up the window and pulling forward.
A sleeping figure in the back caught the guard's attention as the porsche passed, but he quickly forgot about it and returned to his phone.
Winding up the long gravel drive, the porsche came to a stop in front of a large dimly lit facility, a short man with brown hair hopped from the driver's side. He walked around to the backseat on the passenger side and opened the door, revealing a small sleeping blonde child.
"AK, it's time to get up." He said softly.
The little blonde stirred and sat up, looking at the man curiously. "Who are you?" She asked, rubbing her eye with the back of her hand. "You're not the man from earlier."
"No I'm not, little one, my name is Jacob." He held out a hand to her. "We need to go inside, Alysa Kate, before it starts pouring down cry."
Alysa having never met a stranger or feared anything, nodded and took his hand, leaping from the car. "Are we going to see Blaine?"
Jacob picked her up. "Yeah he's inside."

The Schnapp house had mainly calmed down by the time the three teens had arrived.
Everyone had come to terms with what was going on and had agreed to let the police work.
The brunette entered the house in a fluster, the others close behind. "Daddy?"
Noah Schnapp turned around and looked sadly at his daughter. "Scarlett, honey, we have to tell you something." He sighed and pointed to the couch.
Scar nodded and went to sit gingerly on the armrest of the couch. "What is it?" She looked around at all the people and counted them silently.
She frowned and recounted. "Where's Alysa Kate?"
Aunt Millie, who sits on the couch, reaches over and squeezes her knee. "Stay calm, okay." She smiled sadly as Lilia sighed.
"She was taken." Scar's stepmother Lilia said, trying hard not to cry.
"What?" Scar sat forward more, shock clear in her voice.
Michael unfroze at her tone and was to the couch in a second, his hand over her own tightly clasped ones. He didn't say a word; however, knowing it wouldn't help.
"Alysa wasn't here when we got up this morning." Noah explained in a grave tone. "She was just gone."
"No way." Scarlett shook her head, eyes shut tightly. "No way! I'm dreaming right now."
"It's real, Babydoll, this is really happening." Mike whispered softly, prying her hands apart, and frowning at the marks embedded in her palms.
Scarlett shook her head again, tears slipping down her cheeks. "W-who?" She choked out.
"The police don't know yet." Caleb McLaughlin spoke up. He hated seeing her cry.
"What about security cameras?" Ella suggested.
"What now?" Lilia raised her head and eyed the little girl curiously.
"The security footage would show who came by here." Ella clarified. "You would be able to see anyone coming or going."
Noah thought a moment. "Did we check the tapes?"
"No and even if we did it wouldn't tell us anything because it's too dark." Finn declared. "Not that you didn't have a good idea, honey." He smiled weakly at his daughter.
For a moment everything was silent as the news absorbed into everyone until finally Scarlett spoke up.
"We were all watching the wrong kid." She said quietly. "All this time we were worried about me when we should have been worried about AK. He played us, but he couldn't have played us alone." She ran a hand through her hair before getting up, letting go of Mike's hand. "I need a minute."
With that she threaded her way outside and into the backyard, taking long deep breaths. She was leaving and she didn't plan to return.
