Chapter 3

In the dead of night, no one noticed the darkly dressed man slip inside the Schnapp residents only to slip back out having got what he came for. The family snug in their beds would not realize anything was amiss until the next morning, much like they hadn't noticed nine years ago. Maybe when they bought the new house they should have gotten better security.

The walls were made of thick concrete the kind no one could hear you through. There was shackles and chains on the back wall directly above the bed, but they weren't in use, A small blue cased foam cot laid in one corner, and in the other a scared little brunette huddled.

A large metal door separated the girl from the outside world, a world she longed to go back to every time it opened.

Normally when the door opened it meant Blaine was coming and would hurt her, but this time when it creaked open there was a short girl with long dark crimson locks.

Scarlett had seen her before in the hallway when Blaine would come, or sometimes when she would be the one to bring Scar blankets or food. She was like an angel the brunette had thought up.

"Scarlett?" The girl asked quietly, she couldn't be over sixteen by the looks of it. She bent down til she was eye to eye with Scar.

"Y-yeah?" Scarlett's voice came out small and cracked from lack of water.

"Oh, yes, I almost forgot." She pulled a small flask out and handed it to the small child. "It's just water."

Scarlett took the flask and drank hungrily from it, watching the girl with curious eyes.

The girl watched her drink with a sad smile. "My name is Mandy; Do you mind if I pick you up?" She asked softly.

Scar shook her head, and Mandy carefully picked her up and walked toward the door, opening it quickly. "You've been here roughly two weeks, little one." She explained softly.

"I've called the police, they're on the way, but me and you are gonna leave before he wakes up, baby girl." Mandy carried her from the shed and through the backyard until they reached Blaine's Ford truck. "We're getting out of here tonight and never looking back."

Scarlett awoke with a start. "Mike!" She cried out.

Mike was up in a second, his hand on her upper arm. "What is it, Babydoll?"

"I remember something about those two weeks." She proclaimed quietly. "There was a girl with me. He kept her in house, though, so I barely saw her."

"Uh huh." Mike nodded, running his hand soothingly up and down her back. "She was at the station that night. Blaine had kidnapped and kept her like three months when she escaped with you."

"Mandy." Scar said. "Her name was Mandy."

Mike eased them both back down. "Get some rest, Babydoll, you need it." He wrapped his arms around her thin fame. "We can talk about Mandy when it's not three in the morning."

"But-"

"You need sleep, Scarly." He insisted, kissing her head.

She turned into him and laid her head on his chest, nodding. "Okay."

"Lilia?" Noah called, walking quickly into the kitchen.

Lilia Schnapp turned around from the stove exposing her six-month baby bump. "Yeah,"

Noah looked like he might cry. "Where's Alysa?"

Lilia shook her head, turning away from him to keep the eggs from burning. "In the playroom."

"She's not." He shook his head. "She's not anywhere in the house, Lils."

"What are you talking about!" The tall blonde turned to face her husband completely.

"She's gone." He sighed. "We've been watching the wrong daughter."

"Don't say that, Noah!" Lilia fought back tears. "I'm sure she's just next door at Sadie and Caleb's."

Noah shook his head. "I've already called them, princess, I've called everyone." He sighed. "She's just vanished."
