Shelby's POV

When I opened my eyes, I saw myself getting into James's old jeep. It was his first car, he got it two years ago and he got into a car crash shortly after he got it.

"Let's go," James said.

"Hurry up," I said giggling getting into the jeep.

James got into the car and started it. I leaned over and kissed his cheek; he smiled and grabbed my face and kissed me on the lips. The kiss was quick, but the heat was intense, I could feel all of the love he felt for me. 'Am I dreaming?' I wondered.

"They are your memories," Amanda said appearing next to me. "I had to suppress them, but James wanted otherwise. Now that James is Alpha, there was no one stopping him from unlocking everything. Think of it like a movie," Amanda explained. "If you want, I can leave you alone for it,"

"How old were we?" I had to know.

"This was right after your 15th birthday. He was almost 17th. The two of you had been going out for less than two months but you were so in love. You have to trust that it was the hardest thing that I have ever had to do,"

I continued to watch them or me. She was looking at James as he drove, and his hand was on her thigh. "I have something to tell you," she said.

"What's that, beautiful?"

"I love you," she said. Her eyes never wavering. She looked at him with such love and desire. The car swerved a bit and James's smile was the biggest that I had ever seen it, except for when I kissed him in his office earlier.

"I love you too Shelby, I always have," James said, his eyes quickly moved to the side. "Shelby get out of the car."
"What? Why?"

"Just do it,"
"Ok," she said as she jumped out of the car rolling on the ground. She looked up to see the car in flames on the side of the road, but she kept looking around. I knew she was looking for James and I was too. "JAMES," She called out.

"Right here princess," James said getting up a couple yards away from where the younger version of myself. I let out a breath that I had been holding.

"What is going on outside of these memories?" I asked Amanda.

"You mean in the real world?"

"Yes,"

"You are lying in a hospital bed; James is by your side and you won't wake up until you decide you want to. It is all up to you,"

"Who did that?" I asked

"James still does not know. He has clues, but no one knows for sure. We were lucky the two of you walked away with nothing but scratches,"
"Why did you have to suppress this?"

"If you wake up, I would be happy to explain it to you,"

"Tell me how,"

"It is easy just open your eyes," Amanda said. Just like that we were out of my memory. I was in fact lying in a hospital bed with James by my side and Amanda fell out of her chair and almost hit the ground before Eric caught her. Darren and Thomas stood outside the doors; I could tell by the shadows that were in the window.

"You're awake," James said as he pulled me close to him. "Thank you," He said to Amanda.

"Why?" I said looking at her.

"We were under orders. Our former Alpha felt that the two of you learned that you were mates so early because of the powers that you both hold. I could not tell him definitively, so he made me suppress your ability to see your mate as well as your powers and some of James's powers," Amanda explained.

I turned to look at James, "Is this true?" I asked.

"Yes, all of your powers were hidden due to a warning from an oracle and a few of mine were locked away to keep you from sensing me too soon but apparently our close class schedule and being together all the time took its toll on the magic Amanda used. I am sorry Princess," James said.

I took all of the wires out, walked over to the door, and walked out of the room. Thomas grabbed my arm in an attempt to stop me, "I would let go if I were you," Darren said a little to late, I had already punched Thomas in the face and my arm was free from his grip.

"I'll be back..." I started to say.

"You just need time," Thomas finished. I knew he would understand, after all he knew me the best out of all of the guys.

"Shelby wait," I heard James call from the other room.

"Go," Both of the boys said.

"We can handle James for now," Darren said.

I nodded, I would owe both of them a favor and I planned to pay it off as soon as I returned, I bolted down the hall heading toward the stairs knowing that James would most likely catch up with me by the time I could reach the door. Darren and Thomas could probably by me another minute, but if I went wolf form, he would catch up with me easily. 'Don't forget about your new wings' a voice reminded me. I had not tried them yet, but I guess no time like the present. As soon as I made it to the roof, I looked down at my necklace.

"Shelby," James called out.

I turned around to look at him and unclasped the necklace and my winds sprouted and I flapped them a little to get use to them.

"Shelby don't" James said but he was too late, I ran over to the edge and prayed that my plan would work. I closed my eyes and focused on my wings, when I opened my eyes I was flying away from the infirmary and I saw Amanda had joined James on the roof. I felt bad leaving them, but I needed the space to think. I flew until I found the waterfall on the mountain that was at the edge of our pack land. I found a cave behind the waterfall and stayed there. I only had the one change of clothes; it would have been to risky to try and stop by my house. I did not want to see my father and I am sure they would have thought to look there first. I washed off in the waterfall and changed back into the clothes that I had worn to the bonfire. After changing I went and explored the cave when I found a fire pit I got a headache and sat down again.

"James I'm cold," The memory of myself said.

"I am hurrying princess, just a couple more minutes," James said. Within minutes the fire was lit, and we were cuddling on a blanket close to it.

"You did a good job on the fire pit,"

"Thank you, beautiful,"

"You are welcome," I had turned to face him. I brought my hand up to his face and he leaned into my touch. His hand moved up my waist to my hair and he started to play with it, my eyes closed at the gesture.

"Will you promise me something love?" He asked.

"Of course," I said opening my eyes meeting his dark brown eyes.

"Promise me that you will always love me and stay by my side?"
"Always," I replied. I wanted to do something to show him that I meant it, my heart started beating faster. I looked down to his lips and subconsciously bit my lip.

"If you want a kiss all you have to do is ask," James smirked. I leaned in and kissed him. It was my first kiss and it was perfect his lips were soft, and I could feel his hand slide back down to the small of my back pulling me closer. When the kiss ended, I slowly pulled away and opened my eyes.

"If I want to kiss you I will," I said blushing very hard.

"I love you," He told me for the first time. "You don't have to say it back, I know that it is soon, but I love you,"

I wanted to say it back but part of me worried that in a couple of days when he turned 17, he would find someone else as his mate. I thought that it was weird that he had not found one yet, but I knew it was coming.

"It is you, you will always be my choice," James said as if he knew what I was worrying about. He gave me a soft smile, I was one of the only people to see this side of him, at times I thought I was the only one who brought it out.

The memory ended, I opened my eyes and I started looking around for supplies to build a fire. I found matches and wood in the corner, this must have been here for a while, I assume it was from when we came here. I started a fire and sat down near it using the hospital gown as a pillow I lay down close to the fire facing the entrance to the cave.

Amanda's POV:
"I can't fly after her, her wings are twice as big as mine, you could do it if your father had not made me suppress your wings. James we can't let her be by herself, especially now that her memories are coming back,"

"I know that, where do you think that she will go?"

"I am not sure, she won't go home," I knew that Shelby was too smart for that. "Where do you think she will go? All of the memories I suppressed had to do with your relationship, where did you guys go together with that she would have been drawn to?"

"We went to a lot of places together, the lake, the mountains, the beach, most times we just were in the woods, she hated being home after her mother was taken,"
"Ok well, that eliminates your house and her house,"

"Call all of the hybrids, meet me at the lake in 20 minutes," James ordered.

"What do you want us to do? Look everywhere?"

"No, I want you to look almost everywhere. We know she isn't at the hospital,"

"Ok," I agreed pulling out my phone and messaging everyone. I walked back downstairs to have a word with Darren and Thomas. I found them in the room where Shelby had been sleeping while in her memories. "What the hell?" I said as soon as I saw them causing Darren to jump out of his chair.

"Come on Amanda you should know as well as we do that even if we stopped her today, she would have been gone by morning. She will be back," Thomas said.

I sighed knowing that he was right. "James wants all the hybrids in the forest in 15 minutes. I don't think that he will stop until he finds her," I said.

"Would you?" Darren asks, "If you had to wait like he did after finding his mate younger than all of the rest of us and losing her but having to watch her and pretend to hate her. We bought her a little time to herself to figure it all out on her own,"

I knew he was right, but I did not agree with what either of the had done, "Darren, Eric let's go we have a wolf to find," I walked out of the room. The boys had followed me out and we walked to the forest where we had met up with James about five seconds later a girl had walked up. I recognized her from one of my first hybrid recons.

"Amanda?" the black hair girl said.
"Hi Carli, it has been a while," I replied.

"Alright I need everyone to focus," James said. "Carli, I want you in your pixie form to go with Darren and search the lake. Don't be afraid to hit him if he tries to do anything. Amanda, you and Eric search the trails that lead to the mountains. Call me if you find anything, I am heading toward the beach," he finished. We all nodded and went our separate directions.

Carli's POV

I changed into my pixie form which meant shrinking to the size of a Polly pocket and having small clear wings. I sat on Darren's shoulder to keep from overexerting my wings.

"Come on tiny," Darren said.

"My name is Carli, weirdo," I said. "How old are you anyway?" I asked him because he looked very young.

"I turn 19 in a couple of months, pipsqueak," He replied.

"What are you anyway?"

"Vampire, werewolf and amazing," His annoying voice said.

"Who said you were amazing?"

"That's rude short fry,"

"What are you going to do about it?"

"Nothing I suppose," he said. After that, we walked around in silence and just looked for Shelby. When we reached the lake, I returned to my normal size after getting off Darren's shoulder.

"I don't think she is here," I said. "The only other thing with magic is you,"

"I'll let James know," Darren said then his eyes glazed over as he let everyone know that she was not at the lake. "He wants us to check the trails with Amanda and Eric, she wasn't at the beach either,"

"Ok," I said going back to my smaller size and getting on Darren's shoulder to continue looking for Shelby.
