The autumnal colours engulfing the orchard were stunning. It wasn't a particularly nice day or anything, with grey clouds whistfully pushing past the sky.....but the browns, oranges and reds definitely livened things up.
Apples grew here throughout the summer, making jobs for certain students who felt like selling. It was all for experience, after all.
Wooyoung tugged at his purple locks weakly as his eyes scanned over San's slim back. His broad shoulders moved as he reached out to pull a branch closer, the leaves almost becoming rejuvenated by his cold touch.
"I love this time of year," the vampire murmured lightly as he turned to view the shorter. "It's like a breath of fresh air after such unbearably 'perfect' weather."
"Well, I can take or leave it," Wooyoung hummed as he walked closer to see what the other was doing. "I'm not good with the heat of summer."
"Aaw, but you looked rather adorable in shorts."
Shoving him with annoyance, Wooyoung merely rolled his eyes and looked up at the tree. It's leaves were holding on for dear life, preparing to fall and leave the tree bare for the winter.
There was a loneliness to thinking about it. Eventually, he'd be free of this school, free of the rules it followed.....yet free of freedom. Once he left, his life would be determined and set in stone till the day he died.
"You have a little pout while you think," San said quietly, locking his hands behind his back and walking along to the next tree. "It's endearing."
"What do you gain out of observing me?" The purplette had to ask. "And if you say 'enjoyment', I will have to call to put a restraining order on you."
"Darling, nobody has the power to restrain me. Though an empty threat is still cute."
"You're so annoying..."
"Am I? I wasn't aware of that."
"Because people feed you nonsense. If you were truly listening to us 'lowborn' kids that weren't blinded by idiocy, you'd see this."
San couldn't help the soft smile that reached his cheeks as he spun around and pulled Wooyoung into a tight embrace. There was something so 'lovable' about him, and the vampire simply couldn't resist.
His smile, even though Wooyoung took it for granted, was a precious rarity. He couldn't allow other, less innocent, people view his weakness. That's what he considered his emotions to be - a weakness.
"You're always doing this," the younger sighed, looking up to meet the older's gaze which was set on him. "So touchy. It bothers me."
"Darling, everything about myself bothers you. I've stopped worrying over it."
"Then why do you continuously seek my approval, huh? Why must you control my life? Seonghwa and I always spend our weekends together, yet I'm stuck here with you, because you 'want to spend time with me'. For the last time, I am not your 'toy'. I do not belong to you, nor will I ever."
San sighed, dejectedly tracing his thumb over the younger's cheek whilst studying his irritated features. For a man who could have anything he ever wanted, there was but one thing he desired. The one person who refused to comply.
"I will never force a specific life upon you, Wooyoung.....though I'd be able to make yours better."
He called me Wooyoung? What is up? The purplette thought with surprise. Why is he like this? "My life isn't bad, San. It's not something that I'm ashamed of, and there's no need to offer the world to a happy person."
"I agree. But the cards are on the table, and I just wanted to remind you of how I felt."
"Does this mean you'll give this a rest?"
"Of course not. My parents never raised a quitter, Darling. Anyway, I'll let you go if it's Seonghwa you're wishing to see."
Wooyoung groaned, tilting his head back and stepping away. "Don't try to lay guilt on me. You always manage to make me feel like a bad guy."
The ravenette winked knowingly, turning to walk back towards one of the trees. He wordlessly sat down and stretched his legs out in order to rest. The impenetrable aura he carried returned, making the hairs on the back of Wooyoung's neck stand up.
Why someone like Choi San wanted a human like him, was a huge mystery to everyone. Nobody could work out what was so special about Jung Wooyoung, not even the pureblood's close friends.
"You're a weirdo!" The shorter hissed before confidently storming back towards the orchard's entrance.
San only watched his cute figure disappear, raising his awareness and guard again since he had nobody else around to inform him of danger.
Wooyoung, to him, wasn't like the other four boys he had turned into vampires. Those were all suitable candidates to stay by him through life. Trustworthy and strong. But the little purple haired teen was different....he wanted him in a different way.
Unfortunately, any romantic relationship between purebloods and humans was doomed to fail from the minute it was born. Children couldn't be born from them, so little affairs here and there were the end of it. Purebloods married purebloods, end of story.
A crackle from behind the tree alerted the boy of company, though he wasn't worried. He smelt him long before the sound, and the aura was recognisably one of his friends.
"What brings you out here on a murky Saturday, Jongho?" The teen enquired, leaning back on his palms.
"Curiosity."
"For?"
"Your human's little friend was looking for you, so I failed to mention you'd be here. I wanted to see if he'd found you.....clearly not."
"Poor Seonghwa," San chuckled softly, "Probably found Yeosang. A cruel twist to the story."
Jongho emerged from behind and stood alongside his friend, almost watching over the older like a guard dog. "Should I have done otherwise?"
"No," San hummed, picking at the grass absentmindedly, "Yeosang was getting restless, anyway."
