Chapter 19

Chapter 19

It was this evening when I couldn't contain acting like a normal person under surveillance anymore.

Was it just me, or was it normal to get all tingly when I know I'm being watched, and start acting 10 times weirder than I was supposed to?

...

...

...

"Romeo! Where art thou, Romeo?!" I stood on top of the couch, one leg on the armrest and both arms in the air, pointing at the ceiling.

"Why hath you abandoned me at twilight?!" I started screaming, hoping that L could hear me through the cameras or something.

"When thou are so cold and so light?!" I dramatically took a hold of the attached pillow on the couch and tried standing on it. My body wobbled a bit before I croaked out another random line.

"I shalt ruleth the world amidst the vampires at twilight!" I choked on my own saliva before turning into a coughing blue fit. How the heck did I go from abandoned love to ruling the world-

"...What are you doing?" Light's voice wheezed through his nose when he saw my giggles rolling around the living room.

"Shakespeare," I snapped my fingers at him, coughing out some more before slapping my hand to my forehead with a flick of my wrist. I cleared my throat.

"Wherefore art thee so quite quaint in the moonlight?" I threw my hand towards my older brother who stared at me with a flabbergasted expression.

"Did you just call me beautiful in the moonlight?" He pinched his nose and scrunched up his face. "How do you even know Shakespherian-no, why even-"

"Tis not for us to answer fate, we shalt only falleth to our inevitable doom!" I swivelled my arms in the sky, bending downwards into a stretch before jumping down heavily from the couch.

"Aghast! Behold the monster in front of us, tis our loveth yond drops of sorrow us apart!"

Honestly, I felt high on dopamine, which I had no idea where that came from.

"I think she's being affected by the cameras." Ryuk also blinked in wild amusement before chuckling as usual from my eccentric display.

Light stared back at me blankly before wheezing out another snort.

"Okay, I'll stop now. I just needed to get the dopamine out of my system." My voice cracked from all that screaming, clearing my throat once again before I started coughing from the dryness.

"You are so weird." Light muttered before going into the kitchen and coming back with a glass of water, which I gladly threw down my throat.

"Hey, a genius needs to be crazy sometimes." I puffed up my chest and grinned before walking to the table and placing down the cup. "That's where the inspiration comes from."

"I wouldn't call you a genius." Light glanced down at me, bemused. "Maybe just above average."

"Hehe, average for the little girly? You might be making a bit of an understatement there." Ryuk's paws were in front of him as he whirled around the basket of apples.

"Oh apples, apples, you look so scrumptious, my lovely apples!"

"Achem, you're talking to someone who will potentially be your classmate two years later." I flung my arm around my brother's neck as he shifted forwards because of my weight.

"You're planning to graduate that soon?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Oui, monsieur! I plan to finish a total of 29 courses within this year so my transcript will be completed by September!" I grinned mischievously.

"As if that's possible," Light scoffed and batted my arm off his shoulder.

"Oh, I plan to make it be." I crossed my arms smugly. "Then you will bow down to your queen!"

Extending my arms like a vampire, I puffed up my chest.

"I will compromise if you actually pass all 28 and make it on time for the exams." Light's eyes glinted and dared me to accept.

"Is that a challenge, my sweet brother? Because you will regret it." My eyes gleamed at the image of Light bowing down at my feet.

"You will do my laundry for a month if you lose." He raised the stakes higher.

"All of my snacks will be covered from your wallet for a month," raising my eyebrows and licking my lips at the thought His gaze followed my tongue before tearing it away and smirking. His eyes glittered with sheer amusement before the corner of his lips lifted.

"Deal." He extended his hand as I shook it.

"It's a done deal."

"Can I bet 24 apples if she wins?" Ryuk questioned as we both ignored him.

"Sweet and casual." I whispered darkly and patted my brother a 'well done on his shoulder. "That's how our relationship should be."

"How is your online plushie store selling?" I bobbed my head as I drank the strawberry milk from the vending machine. The strangest thing about Japanese drinks was that the flavours were so heavenly good that you could barely understand what flavour you were exactly drinking.

I was drinking strawberry milk.

Yet it tasted like bubble gum.

But it was still good.

"I've already sold 8." Isame placed both her sewing kit and needle onto the table before looking curiously at me.

"Have you gotten the information yet?" She asked.

"Left it with Aoiko," gesturing to where she would usually sit, making the other two frown between their bites of their lunches.

"Miyara sent her the listening device yesterday," I added before scooting in my seat.

"But Isame, keep another copy of the information." My eyes lingered on her face before moving on.

"Also, there has been a temporary misshapen in my house. I cannot carry the pages." I opened the AP duotang and distributed the pages evenly between them. After all, Light had already given me full knowledge of the Death Note.

"But Isame, keep another copy of the information." My eyes lingered on her face before moving on.

I couldn't risk him finding out the ones that I tore ages ago. I spoke in fluent Chinese that they had finished learning just a couple of days ago.

Unsurprisingly, Chinese was much easier for them to learn than French. It must have been the pronunciation and similar japanese sounds.

"Keep this safe with your life," I said as the three nodded in unison. "Do not let anyone close to it, or touch it. If they do, write their name on the paper without hesitating."

Shutting my mouth before deciding that I wanted to fuel L's passion even more, I smirked.

"Do not write the death cause. Just the name."

"Yes," they all replied.

"If there is any chance of it being stolen, destroy it. I don't care if you shove it down your throat or burn it into pieces. Make sure no one gets to touch it."

"Roger," Miyara answered for the rest of them.

"Right, imma scoot over to the resource room for my science tutor." I stood up and patted them each on the shoulder.

"Do your best."

Just kill me.

Kill me now.

My whole face whipped to the clock behind me, staring at the long hand tick by a millimetre. I reached out my hands, trying to grasp the clock from my seat.

"Hello darkness my old friend~ I've come to talk to you again~"

"Sayu! Focus!" Hoshino slammed his textbook on the desk as I flinched from the loudness.

"Yes, sir, sir." My head ducked below as I continued to whimper by listening to his 4th hour of lecture.

I want out.

The voice inside me rasped out bitterly.

Can't you just kill him?

"Is this clear, Sayu?" Hoshino bellowed out before I lifted my head and vigorously nodded.

"Crystal clear as the South island waters, sir."

I scribbled down the formula and continued focusing.

29 courses, 5 of them being gym, which I only have to do 1 course this year, the other 4 courses will be omitted gratefully by Hoshino.

24 courses, 5 of them being home economics in which all I have to do is make 5 full courses for the teacher, and I will pass them this week.

19 courses, in which 5 of them consisted in math that I would be able to pick up pretty easily.

14 courses, 4 sciences, which I will inevitably struggle on. Science was never my strong point.

10 left, 2 history courses.

8 courses for electives.

I'd probably choose 2 English, essay writing and the language itself. I can probably pass in a single day for those.

2 Japanese classes, essay and creative writing.

I'll try law, keyboarding, and two random other classes in which I'd probably choose the easiest.

I can make it. I can pass.

The only hard ones are math, history, and science.

I physically started to sob before Hoshino slapped his ruler onto the desk.

"Sayu, you're late today. Where have you been?" Mom opened the door as my hair whirled in front of my face with my body slouched with 5 textbooks in my backpack and 5 workbooks in hand.

"Hell," I muttered before stepping into the house and weakening on my knees.

"I was in hell," I groaned before falling forwards, only to be caught by my brother's big hands.

"I told you it was impossible." He frowned at my disordered state before grabbing the books from my hand.

"No!" I glared at him, gritting my teeth before snatching the books away from him. "I will prove it to you so that you can bow down to me!"

I swore, earning a smack on the head from my mom.

"Sayu! Language!" She called before huffing back into the kitchen while wiping her hands on her apron.

"Is seeing me bow down to you that appealing?" Light raised his eyebrows before taking the books out of my hand and helping them into my room.

What do you think? One of the most classic God characters from anime bowing down to a side character and apologizing for his mistake.

Totally worth it.

I will carve the image into my mind, and paste the achievement on my walls.

"My older brother, a stuck-up genius brat thinks that him lowering his head isn't a humiliation? Please!" I nudged him in the shoulder playfully as he placed the books on my desk.

"I'd also like to see that," Ryuk's edgy grin trailed behind us as he floated to where Light stood and peered down.

"Bowing is a very common thing in the workplace, Sayu." Light shuffled my books before turning back to me with a confused frown.

"You're onto grade 12 science already?"

"I told you the little girly should not be underestimated." Ryuk grinned wilder before plopping down on my bed. My eye twitched only slightly from his actions.

Have you showered yet Ryuk?!

"I prefer to taste the bitter before the sweet." I winked before slipping the backpack off my shoulders.

"Science is definitely not my thing," I shook my head before hearing Ryuk's snicker as he rolled around on my sheets.

Fu-

My sheets!

"And you say you want to become a mad scientist." Ryuk batted his eyelashes purposefully. He knew I wasn't too keen on his germs laying on my bed, and he also knew with the surveillance cameras, I was able to do nothing.

"I swear, I hate doing equations on the freaking paper! You can't even see the chemicals?!" I answered indirectly Ryuk's question before stamping my foot as a 14-year-old should.

"Oh, so you like doing the physical stuff, girly?" Ryuk teased after Light ruffled my hair with a fond chuckle.

"If you need my help, just call for me, okay?" His eyes glinted as he brushed a lock of my hair behind my neck.

"Oh, you're always too busy for To-Oh!" I plunk down on my seat before tilting my head.

"How many are there?"

Light's eyes flashed at my question before rolling his shoulders to give off a fatigued expression.

"28. 9 in Light's bedroom, 6 in yours. The others are all over the house. Oh, 2 in your bathroom, by the way. Your blind spot is just before you enter your room." I heard Ryuk's answer without moving my gaze an inch from Light's face.

Curses. L doesn't even give me a blindspot for changing.

Well, as long as there are more in Light's room.

"I think there's 6 parts, 2 written, 1 multiple choice, 1 section for short answers, 2 for theory, and 1 for history." Light answered with a slight laugh.

"Aw, come on! I suck at history! How the hell am I supposed to clear it?!" I grumbled before lightening up.

"Hey Light, you better tell me what question they asked for History. If I'm lucky they might test it on the same topic." I cackled at my ingenious idea.

"Hey, I got in with effort. You better amp up your studying if you want to make it in." He held up his hands and backed away.

"Fine! Just you wait!" I called before I heard his chuckles and Ryuk's snickers exit out of my room.

Oh hell, I will pass like my life depended on it.

Author's note:

You know, I've been doing a lot of research on psychopaths, and apparently they have emotions, which most people misunderstand about.

They can feel guilt, pain, desperation, and many more except for them, it's more like an on and off switch.

Sometimes, they blend into society, not understanding why people would cry, feel pain, and even bother taking the harder way when they could really just solve it with a crueller method.

I think I've gotten so into my character that I'm beginning to turn a bit... emotionless?

Just the other day my mother was sobbing about how my grandmother was diagnosed with Dementia. Dementia is a disease where the person has symptoms affecting the memory, for example, not being able to recall their family members.

The symptoms can vary from completely forgetting how to communicate with others. But it really pains the family members when this happens.

My mother was crying so badly but I couldn't sympathize with her at all.

The only sentence that was swirling in my brain was that, "if she caused you so much pain, why don't you just kill her with a drug or something?"

Of course, I didn't actually say it out loud, because instinctively I knew that I would wreak my relationship with her if I did.

My mother continued fretting over how she should deal with this, and I could see her breaking down.

But I still don't understand.

Thus why I'm currently panicking. This story-
