Chapter 2
The ground started to violently shake, in some areas the ground split apart, creating large gaps that people could fall into if they weren't careful.
Ash stood up and tried to keep his balance as he moved towards his friends, some of them had fallen down while the others were holding onto each other hoping to help keep each other standing up.
" Hey, are you guys ok?! " Ash yelled over to them, but the sound of the ground and buildings ripping apart over powered his lone voice.
Ash wanted to run over to them but before he could react, the ground in front of him broke apart, separating him from his friends.
Ash was pushed backwards and shoved towards the table. His left shoulder came in contact with the edge of the picnic table and made a large deep cut. He held his hand over the wound as blood flowed out, he was able to get back up with the ground still shaking.
" Serena! Bonnie! Clemont! " He shouted, wanting to gain their attention.
None of them could hear him, but he still had to get over there to check if they were all ok. The only problem was the gap that he had to cross over.
" Damn it Arceus, I said I was too tired for this shit. " Ash hissed before running forward, jumping right at the edge of the ledge.
He barely made it across but kept running in the direction his friend were in.
They were all huddled together, waiting for it to be over.
The shaking began to decrease with time and it was now easier to stand.
" You guys ok? " Ash asked once again, as he approached the group.
" Yeah, I think we're all just mostly a little shaken up from it, no pun intended. " Clemont responded.
" What the hell was that even about? " Misty questioned.
Sawyer rummaged through his bag and pulled out a first aid kit. " Is anyone hurt or injured? "
" I only have a few scrapes, but nothing major. " May replied.
" Same here. " Cilan, Gary, Trip, Max and Iris all said at the same time.
Brock, Alain, Trevor, Dawn and Serena all had minor cuts that drew a little bit of blood but not a ton.
" Hey Clemont... " Bonnie whispered as she tugged on his clothing. " I think I sprained my ankle. "
Clemont watched as she tried to hold back the tears that formed. " Here let me wrap it up. " He offered.
Seeing as everyone was helping tend to each others injuries, Ash figured that he could get away now without getting yelled at by Serena about his wound that refused to stop bleeding.
Somewhat amazed that no one had noticed the huge red stain on his clothes, he took out a cloth and a bottle of water. He wet the cloth and took off his jacket then proceeded to clean the wound. After he dressed it with gauze, he took out a clean identical jacket compared to the one that he usually wears. Shoving his blood stained jacket in his bag, he walked over to Clemont to see if he could help any.
Clemont was finishing wrapping up Bonnie's ankle when Ash came up to them.
" Need any help? " He asked the two siblings.
" No, I think we're good. " Clemont replied, standing up. " Did you want me to carry you? " He asked his sister.
" Yes please. " Bonnie accepted.
Bonnie wrapped her arms around Clemont neck as he tried to carry her.
" I think you should lay off the candy for a while. " Clemont complained.
" I'm not that heavy! " Bonnie argued.
" Uh, want me to do it? " Ash asked, somewhat amused watching Clemont struggle carrying someone that was probably half his weight.
" Please. " Clemont agreed.
Bonnie climbed onto Ash's back and he lifted her up with ease.
" Show off. " Clemont mumbled while catching his breath.
" Not my problem. " Ash shrugged.
Ash looked around and saw that almost everyone was done dressing their wounds and were ready to head back.
" Should we start heading back to Pallet town? " Ash asked the group.
They all agreed and started to walk back to the town that conveniently wasn't that far from where they currently were.
Walking around the cracks and gaps in the ground they had gotten to the path the leads right to town. As the town came closer in their sights they could clearly see that the shaking had done quite a bit of damage.
A lot of the buildings couldn't withstand it and had collapsed. People stood outside their homes looking at the damage the town had taken, although some tore up the boards and other parts of their house looking to see if anyone else was still in there, under all the rubble.
" I'm gonna check on my house, Gary you and some of the others go the the Professor's lab to see if he's alright while the rest help anyone else that is in need of assistance. " Ash ordered.
Ash walked down the dirt pathway that lead to his house, he tried to be as careful as he could as to where he walked.
" Are you still tired or did all this commotion wake you up? " Bonnie asked, still tightly holding on.
" No, believe me I still feel like i'll pass out any second from exhaustion. " Ash answered.
In no time they had made it to the front of Ash's house. It was one of the chosen ones that had collapsed, it was a complete mess. Shards of the broken window shined from the sun that was a dark red, the walls were broken into chunks and the wood from the wood stook out all in different directions.
Ash looked around, but he couldn't see his mother anywhere outside. ' Could she still be inside? ' He wondered. A little ways down the street he spotted one of the neighbors that had managed to escape their now so called house. " Excuse me. " Ash spoke, gaining their attention. " Do you know if my mother had gotten out of the house or not? "
" I'm afraid we haven't dear. " The lady replied.
" Alright thank you. " Ash sighed, bowing slightly to them before turning around back to his house.
" Sorry we couldn't be much of a help. " The lady's husband apologized.
" Don't worry about it. " Ash called back.
Ash slid Bonnie off his back so that she sat on a rock near the house.
" You think Delia is in there? " Bonnie questioned, slightly worried.
" Can't be sure until we check it out, is it alright if a borrow your pokemon while I go take a look? " Ash asked her.
" Yeah, but what about your pokemon? "
Ash showed her his watch that was still on his wrist, the screen was shattered and the whole thing looked like it would fall apart if you tried to take it off.
" With it in this condition, I can't call on any of my pokemon. " He explained.
" Then here. " Bonnie handed him four of her pokeballs.
" Thanks, i'll be right back. " With that Ash took off to the back of the house which was holding up better than the rest of it.
Ash attached the pokeballs onto his belt so he didn't have to carry them. The back door of the house that led to the kitchen was in pretty good condition, so he tried his luck in opening it. The door creaked and the building groaned from the slight movement. The door was blocked from opening all the way, so Ash just slipped through the thin space and crawled over and under the support beams that had crashed down.
Ash's injured shoulder ached every time he moved it, he figured he'd need to dress it up with a clean bandage soon rather than later as he could feel his blood seeping into the gauze.
He weaved through the tiny gaps and came to the stairs, he hadn't seen his mother in any of the other rooms so all he had left to check was the second floor. Ash proceeded up the steps, stepping over the damaged ones. When he made it to the top, he could see the outside sky through the hole in the roof.
The red sky had grown darker, meaning that it was getting late in the day.
" Hello? " Ash shouted, waiting for a response.
He got no reply in return, but decided to keep looking.
Ash made his way into what was left of his old room, the wall was torn down and his badges and pictures were scattered across the floor. Ash turned around to go check the other rooms but before he left he got distracted by a creaking and groaning noise, he looked around the room to see what it was but he came to the conclusion that it was just the sound of the floorboards under the strain of all the weight it had to hold.
Taking another step the floorboards creaked once again, but this time the noise was louder. Ash turned to look at his right where he saw his bunk bed coming right at him.
Not wasting any time, he pivoted on his right foot and leaped out of the way. Ash got out the door, but as the bed crashed into the floor, he lost his balance and ended up slamming into the wall.
The house started to sway back and forth, causing the parts that remained standing to break down.
Ash ducked under the falling support beams and checked the other rooms. He checked the bathroom and the spare bedroom, but he still couldn't find Delia. He pried open the last door that was to his mother's room, it was hard to clearly see what was in there with more things coming down every second.
One side of the house couldn't withstand anymore of the pressure and collapsed, crushing everything beneath it.
Ash slammed into the floor in the hallway and slid across as that side of the house had been the one to collapse. He hung onto one of the broken pieces of the floor as to stop himself from getting impaled by the long stakes of wood that stook out from the rubble. He eventually pulled himself up and climbed back to the room he was just about to enter. Holding tightly on the door frame, he scanned the room.
Delia laid unconscious on the floor at the foot of the bed and was sliding across the floor near the edge at the same danger Ash had just gone through.
Quickly, Ash cautiously slid down the slanted floor boards down to where Delia was. He had gotten a grip on one of the loose boards and grabbed Delia's arm with his injured one.
Ash tried to pull the both of them up, but the pain in his one arm prevented him from being able to use much of his strength.
" Damn it! " Ash cried out in pain as his arm stung like hell. " Do me a favor and fucking wake up! "
Ash frantically looked around for something that he could use, not finding anything else he decided to continue using the same strategy.
Ash used his foot to pry another piece of the floor that could act as a foot step. As he was struggling trying to pry it off, he felt something warm run down his arm that was holding onto the loose floor board. With his tight grip on it, a piece of the wood had dug into his hand, drawing blood.
" Shit, shit, shit. " Ash muttered.
After some time Ash had succeeded in creating a foot step. He stepped onto the loose floorboard that was right by his foot and slowly released his grip off the piece of wood that was holding them up. With the other board he was stepping on able to support their weight for now, Ash pulled the pokeballs off his belt and tossed them in the air one at a time.
Gardevoir, Florges, Mienshao and Liepard appeared and stood on the slanted door frame, looking a bit confused on what was happening.
" I need your help! " Ash yelled to them.
The pokemon nodded and clung onto each other and made a chain to reach them. Ash held his hand out so he could grab Gardevoir who was at the end of the chain the pokemon created.
" Just a little more! " There wasn't much distance between them as the pokemon continued to lower Gardevoir.
The loose board Ash was standing on was starting to bend from his and Delia's weight.
" Gard gardevoir! " The psychic pokemon spoke.
The four pokemon couldn't be lowered anymore without falling down themselves. Not only that but Ash's footing couldn't hang on any more as the wood bent too far and was now starting to snap.
" Ugh, fuck it! " Ash groaned as he jumped and attempted to grab onto Gardevoir.
He managed to grab on but his grip wasn't that great so he was slowly slipping. The poke chain pulled the two humans up so that they were up on the door frame.
" Would...it be too much to ask if...you could help us get out of here? " Ash panted, out of breath.
With the pokemons help they were all able to get out of the house with no other major problems.
" Ash! " Bonnie cried out as the boy came into her view. " Are you ok?! I saw the house shaking and collapsing! "
" Yeah, we're all fine. Thanks again for letting me borrow your pokemon. " Ash answered.
Florges set Delia down on the ground near the duo, Bonnie looked from the unconscious woman back to Ash. She narrowed her eyes as she stared at his hand that was covered in blood.
" What happe- " Bonnie began.
" How's your ankle doing? " Ash interrupted her, hiding his hand behind his back.
" It still hurts a lot, but other than that it's alright. " Bonnie answered while glaring daggers at him.
" I'll go see if I can get some ice for it from someone in town. " Ash informed her. " I'll be back, but in the meantime keep an eye out for any of the others. "
Ash walked off in search of ice while Bonnie and her pokemon waited outside the destroyed home.
So I guess there's not much in this chapter that explains what is going on but I guess it gives you a rough idea of how things are/look
Hope you enjoyed the chapter, sorry if you though it was bad...
