Part 3

Addison decided that being asleep wasn't much better as painfully being awake. Dreams haunted her, having her toss and turn, and again toss and turn. Nolan's words forced through the sleepiness in her head.

You wouldn't understand.

Three words, and yet the amount of hurt, as if she had inflicted an insurmountable amount of betrayal upon him, was a nightmare.

She would understand. Granted, she didn't know what to understand, but if it was for Nolan, she would try.

Some life long best friends meet each other at school or on a playground as children, laughing and giggling together. But she met Nolan after college, when they had been assigned to a case together. Ever since then, they were partners. Even though they hadn't known each other for long, Addison felt that they had known each other all her life. They were quite a pair;  Addison being the reasonable and responsible one and Nolan being the joking and mischievous one. They could handle any situation together because of their contrasting different traits and different ideas. But now she had lost her best friend and the only friend, the only true friend that she ever had. And it was all because of that lunatic.

Nolan didn't even know her name, and yet the moment he was discharged from the hospital, he set out to find her, spending day and night searching.

That maniac belonged in an asylum and Addison was going to put her back in one. So then, finally, she and Nolan could go back to their lives, without ever seeing her again.
