Part 7. Chris
"Okay Erin, I know you're wanting to blow Tammy out of the water, and to be honest with you, I would love to see you blow her out of the water, but you now have our bundle of joy to think about," Eli says as he opens the front door to see Chris sitting on the sofa.
"Chris, hi," Eli says with a stunned tone.
"Hello, Eli. And what bundle of joy are you talking about?"
"Christopher, I'm so happy to see you. Please, can we talk?"
"Erin, I'm taking the groceries in the kitchen. You talk to your son as long as you need to," he pecks her cheek.
"Well, I see you two are still together. Mom, he's my age, but you already know that."
"Yes, Chris, I do know. I also know Elijah is a consenting adult. I know you're having a hard time with me and Eli being together, but you're going to have to figure out a way to accept the fact I'm in love with Eli, and we're having a baby," his mouth drops open, he jumps up trying not to explode.
"Mother, you're pregnant? Oh my god, you're pregnant by a boy young enough to be your son. Did it not occur to either of you to use protection? You're old enough to know better, mom."
"Christopher, we used protection every time we, we, um,-"
"Okay, I get it, mother, please do not spell it out for me."
"No protection is bulletproof," she snaps.
"And apparently one of Eli's bullets got through. Oh god, mom."
"Chris, I get you're struggling with this, but I'm at my happiest with Eli. Did we plan to hurt you? Of course we didn't, and we didn't plan on me getting pregnant either, but I am, so you can either try and be happy for us, or miss out on being a big brother to your baby brother or sister. I don't want to have to choose between you and Eli, please don't make me choose, but if I have to, you know I would never choose anyone over you."
"Damn it, mom. I'm not going to make you choose me over Eli, and besides, he is the father of my baby brother or sister. Oh god, this is so weird, my best friend is now the father of my brother or sister."
"Look on the bright side, it could be much worse," she tries to use humor.
"How the hell could this be worse, mom?" she sits down next to him.
"You could be Tammy and having no clue I'm about to blow you out of the water," she smirks causing him to become confused.
"Mom, what are you talking about?"
"Listen to this, Christopher," she pushes play on her phone and he gasps hearing Tammy's confession.
"Oh my god, mom, dad isn't the father?"
"Nope, your father isn't that baby's father and he has no clue."
"Mom, you need to make sure neither of them gets their hands on anything that belongs to you. This is all Tammy, she has been manipulating dad into giving her what she wants, it's time that greedy bitch pays."
"I don't ever want to speak badly about your father, Chris, but he isn't exactly innocent in all of this," she reminds him.
"I know, mom, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I'm defending him, because believe me, I haven't forgotten the hell he put you through."
"Thank you, for that, Chris. I just want to make sure I time this perfectly."
"I'm more than willing to help you blow Tammy out of the water, mom," he tells her lovingly. Tears begin to form in her eyes.
"Thank you, but I have to ask you this question. Are you willing to accept me and Eli being together and can you support us having this child together?" she asks her son while softly rubbing her belly. He places his hand on her hand and smiles.
"Yes, it isn't exactly what I would have chosen, but I can see how happy you are with Eli, and this child needs two loving parents. You have my support and my blessing, mom," he smiles and she quickly wraps her arms around him.
"I love you so much, Christopher. Thank you for giving us your blessing."
"Thank you, Chris," Eli says.
"Eli, you know the hell my dad put my mother through, so you better be damn sure you're completely committed to making my mother and my brother or sister happy and they feel how much you love them, I mean it," he threatens.
"Chris, how many people can you name on one hand that literally fell in love at first sight? I know, your mother and I. Okay, me more so than your mother, but nonetheless, I love and adore your mother. I give you my word, I will never hurt her, or your brother or sister."
"Okay, I believe. Please, always treat her with respect, and show her your love, don't just tell her you love her."
"My hero," she teases as she kisses his cheek."
"Did I just hear a car in the driveway, mom? You expecting company?"
"No, well, maybe it's Donna? Chris, please tell me you didn't come onto her."
"Relax, mom, I was angry at the time and I didn't mean what I said. No, I did not come onto Donna."
"Thank god," she sighs with relief.
"Umm, Erin, this guy just handed me this envelope. He said Ross and Tammy are suing you. They are taking you back to court. I also have to go with you."
"Don't you worry Chris, I just figured out the perfect time and place to blow Tammy out of the water."
"Umm, Erin, please don't take this the wrong way, but Tammy is going to bring up you being pregnant and you know she's going to make it seem like you're now some pervert in heat. Wouldn't it look better if you're married to your unborn child's father? Please don't think that's the only reason why I'm proposing to you, because it's not and I can prove it."
"How can you prove it, Eli?"
"I bought this last week when you were shopping," he gets on one knee and opens the small black box revealing the pink diamond he saw her looking at before going to Victoria's Secret."
"Oh my god, Eli, you saw me looking at this gorgeous ring?"
"Yes, now, you say yes," he winks.
"Yes, I'll marry you, Eli. I have to ask, how in the world were you able to afford this type of engagement ring?"
"My family owns several jewelry stores, including the one I bought this ring from, Erin. I'm not exactly a person with horrible finances. See, isn't it fun learning new things about each other?"
"Oh my god, Eli. Your family is one of the richest families not just in this state, but in the united states."
"Yes, Erin, that's very true, so if you should happen to need money for more than one lawyer, I got you covered."
