“So Yuvraj knows that you were present in that building when Vini fell off?” Mandira asked Devika in a whisper as they headed towards the escalator.
“Yeah, but why didn't you tell me it was Yuvraj who tricked you for six long months and made you run away from the wedding? Especially when I almost ended up dating him.” Devika complained to Mandira as the escalator descended to the ground floor. Both of them were carrying shopping bags.
“He saved you from a murderer, Devika. And you would have been safe till the time Vini was in coma. But you told him everything yourself,” Mandira explained.
“So you were basically hoping that Vini never opens her eyes?” Devika asked in disbelief.
“Sort of,” Mandira accepted guiltily.
They stepped on the ground floor and began heading towards the exit.
“I told him that Vini deserves to be hanging between life and death. Now I regret saying that.” Devika regretted uttering those words. Her anger had shut down her sensibility in that emotional moment.
“You shouldn't have said that,” Mandira agreed.
“When did our lives become so complicated?” Devika groaned in frustration, earning weird looks from the people passing by.
Mandira faked a cough and dramatically replied, “Ahem, when I got engaged to Vidyut.”
“Things would have been different if we had not tampered with the evidence three years ago,” said Devika, constantly feeling guilty as if it was a part of her job.
They had just stepped out of the shopping mall when Mandira spoke, “Devika, even I would have panicked if I saw someone falling off a building right in front of my eyes. I'd be sick for days after that.”
As soon as those words left her mouth, a person fell down at their feet from above. Everyone, including Mandira and Devika, shrieked at the scene. Both of them stepped away immediately. They were still recovering from the shock when security called the police and locked the entire shopping mall. If it was a murder then the culprit must be in the building. So no one was allowed to leave no matter how much they complained. Mandira didn't threw tantrums. She was too shocked to do that. She was sitting by the fountain, shopping bags kept on the floor. Devika was comparably in a better condition after witnessing that horrifying scene.
“Mandira, are you alright?” Devika asked with concern.
“I feel sick,” she could still see blood flashing in front of her eyes.
Devika pulled out Mandira's phone from the pocket of her shrug and pressed on Vidyut's phone number. Vidyut was kind of shocked to hear Devika's voice but when he was told about Mandira's state of shock, he came to the shopping mall as soon as possible. But the police did not allow him to enter the building because the investigation was going on.
The doors were opened after almost two hours. Vidyut first dropped Devika at her place and then took Mandira home.

Mandira felt light-headed, as light as feather of a bird. Vidyut was supporting her frame against his body. He was afraid that she will fall on the ground lifelessly if he let go of her. He guided her to their bedroom and covered her with a blanket. She was shivering even though the weather was not that cold.
Kajal and Vaidehi entered the room with worry written all over their faces.
“What happened to Mandira?” Kajal asked while checking Mandira's feet which were freezing cold.
“A dead body fell at her feet in the shopping mall. She is in a state of shock since then,” Vidyut explained.
“A dead body!?” Both, Kajal and Vaidehi, gasped.
Vidyut nodded, “Turns out it was Disha Bansal. Her father is one of the investors in Bhai's recent venture.”
“It was suicide or murder?” Kajal asked.
“It appears to be a suicide.”
Vaidehi decided to share her doubt, “But why would anyone jump from such a busy building? If one wants to commit suicide, they'll do it at home, workplace, or a secluded place.”
Vidyut looked at his sister suspiciously, “You know way too much about suicide, Vaidehi. Should I be worried?”
Vaidehi laughed at Vidyut's reaction, “C'mon, Bhaiya. My mental health is far better than you and Vikram Bhaiya. It was just a guess.”
“Let's not talk about it right now. Mandira's body temperature is low. We need to warm her body,” Kajal suggested.
“I'll take care of that. Leave both of us alone,” said Vidyut.
“How?” Vaidehi asked curiously.
Vidyut stayed silent. He turned to Kajal for help. At first, Kajal couldn't understand why he was looking at her. He just wanted to warm his wife's body. But then she finally understood why he was unable to answer Vaidehi's question. He was going to warm Mandira's body by his own body heat.
“Umm... Vaidehi, let's go. I'll tell you later.” A very awkward Kajal left the room with a very confused Vaidehi.
Vidyut sighed in relief and locked the door as soon as the girls walked out. He looked at Mandira, who sitting silently on the bed. He got rid of his Kurta while taking slow steps towards her.
Mandira stared at his bare chest. “I don't think I can handle sex right now.”
Vidyut removed the blanket from her body and got rid of her shrug. “Don't worry. I'm just going to hold you in my arms to warm your body.”
“Oh.”
He reached for the hooks at her back and threw away her blouse on the edge of the bed. His eyes fell on her bare chest, making her even more nervous.
Her body was already heating up under his gaze, without him touching her. She wasn't shivering anymore. Blood rushed to her cheeks, much to Vidyut's amusement.
“You are already getting warm, I guess,” he smirked.
Mandira began fanning her face, “The weather is so hot. Of course, I'm getting warm.”
“If that's the case, then there's no reason to hug you.” He teased her.
Mandira glared at him, “What do you mean!? I'm your wife. Do you need a reason to hug me?”
Vidyut chuckled at her reaction and pressed his lips against hers, shooing away that frown from her face. Their bare chests pressed against each other as they made out in daylight. The kiss ended after long moments. He caressed her beautiful long hair, “You must be hungry. What do you want to eat?”
“Something spicy and savory.”
“How about Gol Gappe?” He suggested.
Mandira got excited, “Who can say no to Gol Gappe?”
“Alright, I'll be back in fifteen minutes.” He wore his Kurta and walked out of the room.

That afternoon, Yuvraj received a call from Vini's doctor and he immediately went to the hospital. When he entered the ward, the middle-aged doctor greeted him with a smile. That smile made him hopeful. That his sister must have shown some improvement.
“Mr Yaduvanshi, your sister finally showed some improvement. The nurse saw her fingers moving just a while ago. I am confident that Vini will soon regain her consciousness,” the doctor couldn't be more happy about his patient.
Yuvraj couldn't help but smile, “Thank you so much, doctor.”
“But this improvement happened all of a sudden. I'm trying to figure out the cause. Do you have an idea perhaps? Oh, and her recent reports show some brain activities. I'm certain that she might not be opening her eyes, but she can definitely hear our conversations.”
It took some moments for Yuvraj to grasp the information. “Wait, does that mean she showed improvement because of something she heard?” He asked.
The doctor nodded, “There's a possibility. I also heard that a lady accompanied you on your recent visit. It's possible that the improvement shown by Vini is related to their pleasant relationship in the past.”
“Their relationship wasn't pleasant... but it was significant, for sure,” Yuvraj replied awkwardly.
“Please bring here her more often. I want to figure out if her presence is really motivating Vini to open her eyes or it's just a coincidence,” The doctor requested him sincerely.
Yuvraj was uncertain if Devika will agree to the idea, especially after their ugly fight right in front of Vini's unconscious figure. But he was going to try to convince her. His sister's life was at stake.

The chapter was supposed to be posted yesterday but I spent the entire day watching He Is Psychometric. It's been twelve hours since I finished it and yet I'm feeling sad. The drama is fun, but also depressingly beautiful. Those who have watched it would know what I mean.
Btw, Kim Kwon is my new crush 😍
