Chapter 23: Two Shots

Chapter 23:

"Oh my god! What the fuck did I do?!" I screamed.
Barbara and Griffon sat next to me, trying to calm me down. However there was no calming me down.
I just stabbed my boyfriend.
"Gavin, you said it was self defense. You wouldn't have done it unless you felt the dire need to do so," Barbara whispered to me.
"What if I killed him? What if he's dead! Oh my god!" I cried out, sobbing loudly. I couldn't catch my breath and tears continued to stream down my face.
I screamed involuntarily and Griffon ended up slapping me hard across the face. I held my cheek tightly, feeling it sting where she slapped me.
"Gavin, pull yourself together. You need to calm down. People are already terrified and having you scream at the top of your lungs isn't helping," Griffon told me. She sighed and pulled me into a hug and held me whilst I cried into here chest.
Suddenly, I heard a bloodcurdling scream. My head shot up and I looked at the stairs, preparing to get up and run down them. Barbara and Griffon let go of me, tensing up as well.
When I heard another scream I instantly jumped up and ran down the stairs, Barbara and Griffon followed closely behind me.
Once I reached the bottom I heard the familiar noise of walkers. People were grabbing any type of weapon and jabbing it towards them, however it was obvious we were about to be overrun.
Griffon dashed towards Geoff and picked Millie up, letting Geoff protect the two of them. I turned to Barbara and noticed her giving me a fearful look.
"We need to leave. There's too many to kill. Round up everyone and get them somewhere safe. I need to get Michael and Dr. Weston," I told her. Barbara again gave me a terrified look but I was already running up the stairs.
I dashed to the room Michael and Dr. Weston were in, opening the door and looking inside.
"Gavin! Stay out! I don't need you getting in the way," Dr. Weston growled at me.
"We need to leave. Now. There's a shit ton of walkers downstairs," I told him.
Dr. Weston stopped doing what he was doing and stared at me. He muttered something under his breath and he snipped off the thread he was using to stitch Michael up. He quickly began bandaging him up.
"I need someone who can carry him. He's still unconscious and I doubt he's gonna be waking up anytime soon," Dr. Weston told me. I nodded and dashed back downstairs.
I looked around before spotting Ryan at the bottom of the stairs, looking for a weapon. I ran over to him and grabbed his arm, pulling him along with me.
"What are you doing?" He asked me.
"I need you to carry Michael. Come on," I told him. He looked at me in confusion but followed me nonetheless.
We went back into the room and Dr. Weston nodded to Ryan leading him over to Michael. He explained how to carry him and how he couldn't move him too much or his wound would reopen.
Ryan picked Michael up gently and carried him close to him. I held my breath as he picked up, however we went back down the stairs and joined the rest of the group.
I pulled out my knife, preparing to fight against the other walkers. I lead Ryan and Dr. Weston through the house. It was difficult to find a route that wasn't infested with walkers. Eventually, I found a route that wasn't as bad the others. I rushed along through the hallway, killing a couple walkers quickly.
Eventually we made it outside where Barbara had assembled everyone. It was beginning to snow again and I noticed a horde of walkers approaching.
I barged past the others to the front, preparing to leave this place in search of another. I thought over the different places we could go. There was a couple towns over that could offer some protection from the cold and walkers.
However, once I got to the front of the group, I noticed we had more problems then what I originally thought.
A huge man with bright blonde hair stood in front of me, gun pointed at my head. His knee, along with part of his arm, were wrapped up in old and dirty bandages.
I felt somebody move behind mine. I heard a whimper that sounded similar to my brothers and I wondered what got him so nervous.
"Hello. Um... What are you doing here?" I asked shakily.
"No, that's not how this works. You're group has a huge debt to pay to us," The blonde man said.
"Oh yeah? And what's that? Last I checked, you attacked us first," I growled. I heard some people start telling me to wrap up whatever was happening since the walkers were close.
"No, you're little wannabe hero decided it'd be smart to shoot me twice. You owe my group a lot," The man said.
"Well, that's too bad, cause you aren't getting shit," I growled, beginning to pull out my knife again.
"Then I guess I'll do what the wannabe did. At least I'll be doing you a favor. I'll be killing a traitor for you," The man said.
He suddenly shot two bullets at me. I tensed up, preparing for the searing pain I was about to feel, however when I felt nothing, I looked down.
My brother now laid on the ground.
Dead.
