Chapter 6: Typical Teenage Drama

It had been a week since Julie brought Molly to the McVie house and left her in John and Christine's care. The kids were still upset about the idea of their dad's mistress bringing the child that tore their entire family apart. Emily, who usually was the goody-two shoes daughter who could do no wrong started the whole "leave me alone" method of typical teenage girl trial period.

"Emily, come on, we're going to be late for your dentist appointment." Christine said, knocking on her door.

"Mum, I'm not going." Emily said.

"Yes you are, so come on and let's see when you can get your braces off." Christine said as Emily rolled her eyes at the memory of getting them, it was just around the time that her parents were finalizing their divorce.

"Fine, I'll go!" She huffed, opening the door to reveal Christine disapproving of her style choice.

"No, go change your clothes. I'm not about to let you walk out of this house in a shirt that doesn't cover your belly or your breasts." Christine said.

"Mum, it's a crop top and shorts. It's in style and it's what all the girls wear these days." Emily said.

"I don't care if it's a damn landmine, go change." Christine said as Emily stomped back in her room, slammed the door on her way in.

"Emily, quit slamming the bloody door!" Olivia said from the next room to hers.

"Fuck off Olivia!" Emily said, changing into a different outfit which was not what she wanted to wear.

"Emily!" Christine proclaimed.

"Mum!" Emily proclaimed back loudly.

"Get your ass out here right this minute!" Christine said, fuming over her daughter's mouth. She was done with the foul attitude and choice of words she used now.

"You know what, I'm sick and tired of being here with all of you. I'm done!" Emily said, coming out of her room, walking past Christine as she dialed a friend's number.

"Emily, do not walk away from me young lady, get your butt back here!" Christine said, yelling down the hallway and down the staircase as Emily flung the front door open and walked outside.

"I hate you!" Emily said as a neighbor heard her, Christine's face contorted I to shock as her heart and mind started racing.

"You don't mean that, you're just upset over the fact that I won't let you walk out of this house, looking like that and the fact that Molly is here and you can't accept it. You're being rude to your family and for one, I'm sick of it." Christine said.

"Yes, I am because my mother is so fucking delusional over the fact that the sole person responsible for the divorce is in the house!" Emily screamed at her mother when John walked by in shock of what he heard.

"Apologize to your mother right now young lady!" John said, holding Molly but looked at Christine who was nearly in tears.

"No! I'm leaving right now and I'm not coming back! I'll have someone come over and get my things!" Emily said walking down to where her friend's car was parked, putting her bags in the back as John hurried into the house and put Molly in her swing before he caught Christine before she fell to the ground, absolutely distraught, crying loud enough to where Henry and Olivia could hear her as they came rushing out to the front porch.

"What happened?" Henry asked.

"Emily... Emily..." Was all Christine could say as she was crying to the point where she could not stop.

"Dad, what happened?" Olivia asked him.

"Emily decided to leave." John said, the kids were looking at each other.

"What?" Olivia questioned.

"Emily decided to leave?" Henry asked.

"Yes." John said, consoling Christine to where she was no longer crying but laying his arms with her head buried in his chest.

"She's not going to leave home, she's being a typical teenage girl." Henry said.

"She said she's going to have someone come get her things." John said.

"I have to go find her." John said.

"Dad, that's literally impossible. She has way too many friends." Olivia said.

"Do you two know any of her friends?" John asked.

"I know two but that's it and that car does not belong to either of them." Olivia said.

"My baby." Christine mumbled as John, Henry and Olivia looked at each other.

...

Emily and her friends were on their way to a party, it was not a school night and she had done this for the last two weekends.

"Em, we really missed hanging out with you!" One of her friends said.

"I know, it's just you see what I have to deal with all week long." Emily said.

"So, what's up with your dad being back home, I thought your parents were divorced?" Her friend that was driving, questioned.

"They were, but like when mum and dad we're on tour, they rekindled their relationship and now, they're back together again, which I'm not upset about at all. That's not why I was so upset earlier." Emily said.

"Then why were you upset earlier on the phone?" Her friend asked.

"Because my ex step mum, brought my stepsister to my mum and dad a week ago and dumped her off to live with us." Emily said as her friends gasped.

"No way!" Her friend said.

"Yes way, my mum is so delusional about it all. My dad cheated on my mum and I can't stay there when my family thinks it's okay." Emily said.

"Emily, you know your mum just wants what's best for everyone. You might think it's just a delusion but remember how depressed she was when your dad wasn't around?" Her friend asked.

"Yes, but that baby will only cause her more pain because she's not hers." Emily said.

"Em, let your mum be happy. She deserves the happiness, even if the baby isn't hers, let her be happy." Her friend said.

Emily just stared out the window but heard her phone ring, looking at the caller ID, wanting to ignore it but decided to answer it.

"Emily, what the hell is wrong with you?" It was Olivia.

"You just like playing big sister, don't you?" Emily questioned.

"You made mum cry and she broke down in dad's arms when you left." Olivia said.

"I'm sorry Olivia but I can't be there and see mum faking her happiness. Like, you know she's unhappy with a baby that isn't even hers." Emily said.

"Emily, mum is happy. I mean, dad is home and right now, her and dad are giving Molly a bath, worried about you." Olivia said.

"Well, I'm not coming home. I'm done with a fake family and I'm done with you!" Emily said harshly.

"You can't be serious Emily, you're sixteen, not of age. You need to get home now." Olivia said.

"Olivia, it's the weekend and I already had plans that I told mum and dad about already at the beginning of this week, so do me a favor and leave me alone." Emily said, hanging up the phone as her friend pulled up at the house where the party was.

...

Christine was putting a diaper and clothes on Molly when Olivia came into the room that was being turned into the nursery.

"Mum?" Olivia questioned.

"Yes darling?" Christine asked.

"Do you need anything while I'm gone?" Olivia asked her.

"No sweetheart, I'm just trying to calm down. Emily is really worrying me but I'm okay." Christine said, walking out with Molly in her arms as they walked down the hall and down the stairs.

"Mum, she'll be back Sunday. She's just being a brat right now." Olivia said.

"I know she's not happy about this but what can we do when your father got full custody." Christine said.

"She'll come around, but what if we have a girls day next weekend. Just me, you, Emily and Molly?" Olivia asked.

"I'd love that sweetheart." Christine said.

"Me too mum." Olivia said as she kissed her cheek.

"I'll see you for dinner, be safe and I love you." Christine said.

"I will mum and I love you too." Olivia said as she walked out the door and to her car and left.

...

Christine was making dinner when John came in from getting a few things she needed.

"Hey baby." He said, kissing her cheek.

"Hey darling." She said, kissing him on the lips.

"I got the cheese but they didn't have your ice cream, but I did get something that you might like." He said.

"Cookie dough, sounds good." She said, peeking into the bag.

"I tried calling and texting Emily, but she's not answering." He said.

"I've tried to as well but she's trying to adjust but at the same time, she acted out." She said.

"She's grounded as soon as she comes home." John said.

"I agree." Christine said, looking into the oven to see what she has cooking.

John stood there, admiring her as he still felt guilty for leaving her, it was the worst decision he ever made.

"Honey?" He questioned.

"Mhmm?" She looked up with questionable eyes.

"I think it's time we have the talk about my infidelity. We haven't really talked about and I know no words will ever take away the pain I caused you." John said.

"Okay." She said, coming to sit down on the barstool beside him.

"I messed everything up and I should've stayed with you and the kids but I told Julie to let me talk to you after she found out she was pregnant." John said as Christine wiped away tears.

"I agree you messed up our marriage but I was at fault too. I was distant and tired all the time, but when she told me you two were together and that she was pregnant, I should've made more an effort to be a better wife but when you told me that it was best if you married and had Molly with her, I had to let you go." She said.

"You were the best wife and I put pride first instead of making our marriage better and I never knew what I had until I left you. I'll regret for the rest of my life but I'm going to make it up to you, I promise." He said.

"You did make it up to me by coming back to me." She said.

"You mean the whole world to me." He said, caressing her hand as Olivia came in, seeing her parents having a moment as John pulled Christine onto his lap.

Olivia walked into the living room when Henry joined her.

"How are you?" He asked his sister.

"I'm good." She said, sorting through her shopping bags.

"Retail therapy?" He asked.

"Yeah, I just needed a few things. I got a few things for mum." She said.

"What'd you get?" He asked.

"Makeup, hair stuff, some clothes and mum's favorite bottle of wine." She said.

"I went and got a bottle of Jameson a couple of days ago." He said.

"How do you drink that stuff?" She asked, laughing.

"Usually with a fizzy beverage over ice." He said.

"Well, me and mum are drinking mimosas and margaritas tomorrow." She said, holding up a bottle of champagne and tequila.

"Those are so girly, but she deserves it after Emily's outburst this morning." He said.

"She really hurt mum. I never once had an outburst of such disrespect towards mum because I knew the repercussions if I did." Olivia said.

"I hope mum and dad ground her after she comes home, like it isn't the baby's fault. I'm not too happy that she's here but I don't want to hurt mum more than she's already been." He said.

"She hates Julie and what happened after she found out the reason why dad left." Olivia said.

"Dinner is ready." Christine said coming into the living room to tell them.

"Mum, I got our favorites." Olivia said, holding up the three bottles of what she got.

"Let's have this with dinner." Christine said as Henry and Olivia followed her into the kitchen.

"Mum and I prepared roasted garlic and rosemary chicken with her signature potatoes and parsnips along with a salad and rolls." John said, sitting down the chicken and other items.

"Looks good but mum and I are cooking and preparing dinner tomorrow because we're having just a me and her day." Olivia said.

"Speaking of girls day, mum and I are taking Molly to Julie tomorrow because it's the weekend. I know with it being Spring and all, that you two don't really have any time together since you work all the time and she does too with her new album project, so tomorrow, it'll just be you two and I'm taking Henry with me to the fishing dock." John said.

"It'll be nice for you both to get to spend some much needed time together, just don't go overboard." Henry said.

"Hey, once you have one margarita, it's hard to stop." Christine said, smiling as they plated their food and started eating.

"Your mum and Aunt Stevie can tell you about the Pina colada story backstage after the last show on the 'Mirage' tour." John said, winking at Christine.

"Oh God, that was a fun night but I also remember you and Mick got high and you tried to have your way with me on my dressing room table with Stevie standing next to me." Christine said.

"You instigated that after you pushed me up against the wall after we come off the stage." John said.

"That's because you liked what I was wearing." Christine said.

"You mean the black camisole with the sparkly red shorts and jacket one where dad stood behind you while you were playing piano?" Olivia asked.

"Yes." Christine said.

"You could see the video where dad was looking at your backside the entire time, while playing." Henry said.

"Like I said, your mum instigated it." John said.

"We all had a little too much to drink that night and I was just having my own kind of fun." She said as John's hand rubbed her thigh, making her jump.

"Alright, let's eat." John said, smiling while he looked at Christine's glowing face, trying not to laugh.

...

Christine was laying in bed, reading a magazine when John came out the bathroom from taking a shower, dropping his towel as she looked up, the look on her face told him she needed him.

"Feeling alright Mrs. McVie?" He questioned, getting in beside her.

"Oh yeah, it's just..." She was speechless.

"You look so sexy when you blush." He whispered in her ear.

"I'm just a little tipsy from dinner. You poured me three glasses of wine and I'm just a little buzzed from it all." She said.

"Want to fool around?" He asked as she laughed.

"Sweetheart, our kids are home and we both need to rest, after dealing with our typical teenage drama of a daughter. I don't feel like it but you can hold me until I fall asleep." She said as he slipped a pair of briefs on and cuddled up to her.

"I will gladly hold you darling." He said as held her as she drifted off to sleep.

He drifted off to sleep with her but he stared at his blue eyed girl and thought life could not get any better than this.
