Chapter 1

As I watched those beautiful sparkling amber eyes, so bright they would light up the darkest, gloomiest rooms, slowly fade into an eternal despair and darkness, looking as though all those beauties saw were hell on Earth, and I knew, that light was never to return. He was gone, and would never return.

Searing pain was all I felt. I felt like all the memories I've buried and shunned to despair, drilling into my skull. Agony filled my head. A low groan escaped me. My eyelids felt like 50 pounds. Struggling, my fragile feeling body managed to slowly lift itself off the cold, metal feeling floor. Fearing the unknown, I opened my eyes, revealing 5 others, all in the same condition as me. A few still in a deep sleep, and others wishing they were. The room looked like an abandon cell, giving me a dead, chilled feeling. The walls were as grey as I felt right now, with one single TV in the corner. The cell was as small as all the hope I had, and as grey as the feelings I had. There was 1 door, made out of the same material as the walls. Now examining the people, the 3 that were awake looked pretty freaked.

"Where am I!" I screamed, trying to stand up, but a blunt force pulled me back.

"Trust me, we've tried that" A female said, her long milk chocolate brown hair covering most of her face, also covering most of her long and slim torso.

"Calm down. . " Another girl soothed. Her half shaved sun blond hair accented her face so perfectly. Her small frame fit her clear complexion.

She was the only one who seamed calm, her slightly tanned face showing not much sign of distress. The other girl who was awake was the opposite, trembling and cowering, fearing the slightest movement. Dark brown hair covered her tear and pain covered face, trembling arms holding her blood covered legs. Another girl awoke. Dirty blond hair was flowing to her decantly broad shoulders. Her long body covering about fifteen percent of the floor. Her facial expression seemed to show fear that this room brang to anyone in it. Her immediate reaction was to bolt up, but the same blunt force pulled her long frame back, knocking all the air out of her. I looked down at my waist, and that small light inside of me died. Made of pure steel and iron, a chain was clasped to me and it seemed unbreakable. I looked to the chain and noticed I was tied to someone, almost like hand cuffs. I was tied to the last girl who was still asleep. Her red hair with blond highlights covered her entire face, but her long body made me feel kind of scared. I bent down on my knee, and slightly nudged her shoulder, knowing everyone should be awake to realize what was happening. A low groan of annoyance filled the room.

"Hey, wake up." I said, hoping she would at least open her eyes. Slowly her grey eyes started to scan the room.

"Where am I?" She asked, trying to walk around. I pulled at the chain.

"Hey, we're kinda stuck together" I said, holding the loose part of the chain. Her eyes widened.

"Saw. . ." She said, realization hit us all. I've seen it all over the news, people who've done bad things are put in life or death situations. I always thought it was a myth that the news made to get people to actually watch.

"Well, before we die, I'd at least like to die with people I know the name of, I'll start, my name's Rose." I said, the girl I was attached to spoke

"Hey, I'm Ella" giving everyone a small side smirk.

The calm girl spoke; "My name's Kobayashi, but if you can call me Koba if you can't pronounce it" she said, giving a blinding smile. The girl who I saw first spoke.

"I'm Reeses, and we're not going to die. I'll find a way out." She said, sitting down, pulling Koba with her since they were connected by the chain. The girl in the corner lifted her head, showing her bloodshot brown eyes.

"I-I'm Yuki" She stuttered, putting her head down again, probably filling her thoughts with worst thought possible about what was happening. The girl who just woke up raised her voice.

"Ok, let's get things straight, we're not dying. My name's Sapphire, and I'm not dying with a bunch of strangers. If we just stay here, someone will find us and we'll be safe, got it?" She said, trying to walk towards me, but she was stuck to Yuki so she didn't make it far.

"Ok, get up, I'm not going to have you be the reason I died" She said, yanking the metal chain. Yuki slowly made her way up, and followed her. Sapphire walked up to me, and grabbed me by the collar.

"We're not going to die, not today. As long as we don't screw around, I have faith that we can all do this" She spoke, giving us a small smile. A small ray of hope filled me, but soon disappeared when the sound of the TV turning on filled the cramped room with sound.

My head spun towards the noise, and my eyes widened, knowing that was was coming up next would definitely make me smile. The screen showed a black and white puppet. His eyes shared the color of the midnight sky. His two blood red symmetrical spirals on his cheek's gave the puppet a strange look. I grimmed at the sight.

"I want to play a game. . ." a deafening voice boomed, piercing my eardrums, making a ringing sounds cloud my thoughts.

"The cuffs around your waist are to represent how for the first time in your life you're actually attached to someone. All of you have something in common; You're all alone. You've always been. Rose, all your friends are dead. Your family thought you were insane. You've been alone since the incident." I shivered, remembering every second of it.

"Reeses, you don't care for humans, your only concern was you cats, to you, humans were just slaves for them. Koba, you're a murderer. You're a killer to your fellow mankind. Your act of reflexes are what got you into this situation. Sapphire, you've learned that sometimes doing nothing doesn't work, you've killed for the right reason, but at the wrong time. One mistake caused many more. Ending in everyone fearing what you're capable of. Yuki, your greed got the better of you, your want took over your actual thoughts and forced you to kill. Your family was scared of you. Ella, your fear got the better of you. All you ever knew was fear, and when it came down to it, you were a coward. When you needed to save your family, you were scared. You've all always been alone for one reason or another. Never been connected to another human. Now you're forced to. So, as of the game. . .The cuffs around your waist are slowly going to close in on you, sawing you in half. Sapphire, remember how you killed your mother's abusive boyfriend? Well, now is the time to use that 'skill'. You must kill your chain mate, Yuki to be free, if you fail to complete that task, your life will end Sapphire, you have 90 seconds, this game will not affect the other 'Participants', let's play" We all stopped in our tracks, no one dared to move, we were all silent for far too long, so quiet you could hear Yuki and Sapphire's fast beating heart beats. Sapphire looked over at Yuki, finally leaving her frozen pose. Sapphire's voice spoke, fear stuttered out.

"Y-Yuki. . .I can't kill you" She spoke, but her soft words were cut of by a large screech leaving her studdering lips. That sound I would never forget. The sound of blade entering human flesh, the sound of the blood curdling scream that let her sacred body.

"20 seconds remain!" Ella screamed out, as she dragged me with her, and hid in the corner. The chains were long enough for me to keep standing. 15 seconds remained. Yuki start thrashing.

"No no no no!" She exclaimed, horror filling her voice. Sapphire's voice boomed. "I-I'm so sorry Yuki" She said, walking towards her. Yuki kicked her legs, trying to keep Sapphire away. 10 seconds. Sapphire grabbed the hard metal chain and put it to Yuki's throat. Yuki's airway was stopped. 5 seconds remained and Yuki's face was slowly turning a light blue. Sapphire must of realized time was pretty much out. "No. . .No. . .No!" Her voice pierced our ears, feeling like blood was oozing out of them. The blades cut through her like her body was jelly. Sliding threw the poor girl with no mercy. Ear piercing screams filled the room as the sight of her poor demolished body, lying there, lifeless, and eyes full of regret. "Oh god. . ." Ella said, lowering down into a ball shape and just emotionally snapping on the ground, I was slightly pulled away by her, but managed to keep my balance. Koba walked over to Yuki, and made sure her neck wasn't to damaged. Resses laughed. "Her fault she didn't work for her life"

I'm going insane, this isn't happening, 'I swear when I wake up I'll go back to part time job as a vet and lay on my couch doing work' I spoke to myself, trying to wrap my head around this chaotic mess. "Guys, don't even try to disagree with me, you know if she wanted to live she wouldn't of hesitated to kill" she spoke again. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" Yuki yelled, as her voice filled the room, a loud clicking sound filled the room, the sound emanated from the area Yuki and Saphire's body, well, body parts layed. The chain that used to be attached to Sapphire released, and all that remained was the steel cuff attached to Yuki. I felt a small pull against my waist, and spun my head in the direction of it. Ella motioned for me to come close. "So far, I only trust you, Reeses is scaring me, Yuki seem's a little out of it, and Koba's way to calm for this situation, how about we stick together, I don't think I can handle this alone" She did have a point. I nodded my head, she wiped her tears away, forced a normal look on her face, and stood up. My gaze turned towards Koba, who was examining the chain that once held Sapphire. "I found a key" her soft, somehow calm voice spoke. Ella pulled me along to go examine it. It had a letter on it, in a crimson red, the letter 'R' was written on the flat part at the end. Another loud clicking sound boomed through the room. Our immediate reaction was to look at where the sound began from. We saw the the door that used to seem like it was sewn closed, finally open, giving me the small feeling of glee.
