29- Zayn finds out
Evelyn's pov:
The ring of my alarm woke me up from my peaceful sleep as I shut it down before standing up from the bed and stretched my hands. Wearing the slippers, I walked to the window and removed the curtains, enjoying the May weather. Few rain drops were falling on the window pane and dropped down. Nobody can say anything about London's weather.
Smiling to myself, I went in the bathroom and did my daily routine. I walked out of my room, tying up my hair in a bun. Other days, I would see Doniya in the kitchen, cooking something delicious for us but today she wasn't there. She was at Bradford, spending few days of her holiday with her family. She wanted me to join her as my summer vacations had also started but I denied, wanting her to spend the good day with her family all on her own.
Walking in the kitchen, I made myself some toast and set it on the dining table. The soft pitter patter of the rain filled my ears as I smiled, eating my toast.
Done eating, I grabbed my phone from my room and dialled Doniya's number. Over the past few months, she had become a very important person of my life. I miss her presence, her friendly and motherly nature towards me.
"Hey Evelyn." I heard her voice and smiled.
"Hey Doniya."
"Everything alright? You're calling me at 8 in the morning?"
"Yeah everything's good." I nodded,"It's just that I miss you."
"Aww Evelyn, don't make me burst into tears now." She chuckled softly,"I miss you more baby. And that is why I told you to tag along me with."
"Yeah my bad." I sighed sadly.
"Okay listen." She said and I hummed,"I will just call Zayn and tell him to visit you. Not that he hasn't done this before but yeah, you guys can have a good time."
"No." I denied quickly,"I don't want him to get bothered for a silly reason. And in fact, we just met yesterday."
"What!" She laughed,"Another date and you guys didn't even bother to tell me?"
"It's not like that." I laughed. Sure, me and Zayn met a lot after our first date but it was nothing like a date. Or maybe it was, but I was happy that we were taking it slow.
"Evelyn?" I heard her, getting back to the earth.
"Huh?" I asked her, mentally cursing myself for zoning out.
"Where are you? Thinking about Zayn?" She teased, laughing at the end.
"Ugh." I groaned,"I shouldn't have called you in the first place."
"Ouch, I'm hurt." She joked as I laughed.
"You know, I just kind of feel lonely." I sighed,"The same emptiness I felt when Liam left me for the X-factor."
"I totally understand." She said softly,"Don't worry, I'll just send Zayn."
"But-"
"Shut up Evelyn. Go get ready, bye."
With that she hung the phone as I just stood still and then burst out laughing. "You're crazy Doniya." I muttered, shaking my head.
Walking back in my room, I searched for an appropriate outfit to wear and finally decided on a light blue oversized hoodie and a knee length denim jeans. Satisfied with my look, I walked out and opened the window, taking in the sweet smell of rain. For the first time, I was genuinely happy, like really really happy. All my problems were slowly clearing out, making me step forward in my life. I gave Anthony hundred pounds when Ronald gave me my money for working with him and Anthony finally deleted the video. Just the thought that Anthony will never bother me again, gave me immense pleasure and happiness.
Moving away from Wolverhampton did change my life in a good way but I missed Mom, Dad and Arianna. I don't even know where she is; hasn't even tried to contact me once. Whenever I call her, the number is always out of reach. Our friendship was just fading away and I didn't even know how to stop it.
I heard the doorbell and smiled widely before rushing to the door, opening it quickly and stared at the person in front of my eyes.
"Evie." Liam smiled, hugging me quickly.
"Oh hey." I said, a little disappointed as I was expecting Zayn but Liam's my brother, I'm happy that he's here.
Pulling away from the hug, I invited him in and told him to take a seat on the couch.
"Would you like something to drink?" I asked,"Coffee, hot chocolate?"
"No nothing." He said, shaking his head,"I just wanted to talk to you."
"What about?" I said, sitting besides. He was looking tensed and confused so I put my hands over his shoulders,"Is everything okay?"
"I don't know." He sighed, fiddling with his fingers,"I don't know what to do."
"Is this related to Danielle?" I guessed.
"How do you know?" He asked, turning to me.
"Oh the boys told me." I replied quickly.
"hmm yeah." He nodded, turning his head away.
"What's the matter?" I asked softly. Seeing him like this always broke my heart.
"She thinks that I don't have enough time for her." He replied, his voice faltering at the end,"Just doesn't understands that I've my tours and all. I'm trying to balance this all but it's difficult for me."
"I know Liam." I assured,"Here she needs to understand you. You are right in your place, so stop worrying."
"How can I?" He croaked out,"It hurts to know that I'm not doing enough to keep our relationship strong."
"Stop it." I scolded him,"You're doing everything you can. It's her who needs to work things out."
"But I just can't go and say that you're the one who should understand?" He groaned, shaking his head.
"Why can't you? Just go and tell that you need to talk and work things out." I advised,"That will surely help you out."
"Maybe you're right." He said, smiling a little,"Okay enough about me, how are you doing?"
"Without Doniya, lonely." I answered honestly,"With you, happy."
"Aww." He gushed like a teenage girl making me laugh,"Don't feel lonely, you can visit us anytime."
"Yeah yeah." I rolled my eyes,"You guys are free everyday."
"I mean okay, we were out for tour but now we're back for few months, you can visit us." He shrugged.
"Thank you." I chuckled.
"Um. Well Evie,I wanted to ask you something else." He said, looking at the ground.
"Yes?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Is there something which I should know and you haven't told me yet?" He questioned, turning his head towards me.
"No." I lied quickly, as I could feel my heart beat increasing and my hands started sweating,"Of course not."
"Do you remember the day when we promised each other that we'll never hide anything from each other?" He said, smiling at the memory,"You can tell me anything you want."
I moved my eyes away from him and just shook my head,"There's nothing I'm hiding from you." I had this gut feeling that he got to know about me and Zayn.
Liam's phone rang, interruption our conversation as I sighed in relief. He picked up his phone and talked to what felt like Danielle.
"Evie I gotta go." He said after ending his call,"We decided to talk."
"Okay good luck." I wished, smiling at him.
"Thanks, see you around." He smiled, hugging me one last time and then walked out of the flat.
Ringing of the phone brought me out of my thoughts as I walked in my room and picked up the phone. I stared at the caller's name with horror and confusion smitten over my face. Why the hell is he calling me? I thought everything is over.
Biting my lip, I thought of declining the call but just couldn't because I just wanted to know the reason he was calling me again, even when we already declared that everything is over.
"Hello." I said, answering the phone,"May I know why you're calling me again?"
"Huh?" He asked,"To ask for my money,of course."
"Excuse me?" I frowned,"I thought this was over."
"When did I say that?" He questioned.
"What the heck Anthony?" I shouted,"Last month, you were the one who came up with this deal, that I give you hundred pounds and you delete that video. You even said that you deleted that video."
"Oh cmon and you believed me?" He laughed evilly as I just stood at one place, shocked.
"You're joking, aren't you?" I laughed nervously, biting my lips.
"Why the hell will I joke?" He yelled,"This isn't a thing to be joked out. Get me my money."
"But you told that everything is over!" I fought back as the tears started filling my eyes.
"I never said that." He stated flatly,"That's the worst thing about you, Evelyn Payne, you trust every single human being very easily."
"I know that you deleted that video and now you're just lying to get the money." I gritted as the tears started falling down.
"You really think that? God, Evelyn, you're so stupid." He groaned.
"Stop faking it. Just accept that you deleted it." I whimpered, hoping that he was just lying about not deleting that video. He did has a point that I trust everyone without thinking twice.
"I'm not faking it. Stop being a cry baby-"
I cut the phone and fell down on the floor, scooting closer to the couch and cried. My phone rang again but I didn't pick up. I just hugged myself tightly and cried my heart out. I was tired of everything, tired of myself, tired of getting hurt. What did I do to deserve this?
The doorbell rang as I whipped my head towards the door. Must be Zayn, I thought, quickly getting up and ran to the bathroom, washed my face and when I looked presentable, I opened the door.
"Hey." Zayn grinned.
"Hi." I whispered, forcing a smile and quickly turned my eyes away.
"Come inside." I said and he nodded, looking curiously at me.
"By the way, Did Liam come here?" Zayn asked plopping on the couch while I stood besides him.
"Yeah. Why?"
"Oh, he told us that he was visiting you." Zayn replied, looking at me but I just looked down,"Are you okay?"
"Yeah." I looked at him,"Should I bring something for you?"
"A glass of water please." He asked sweetly. Nodding, I walked in the kitchen and took out a glass.
I heard my phone ringing and I stood frozen in my place. "Someone's calling you." Zayn shouted from the living room. What it it's Anthony, I wondered and shuddered at the thought.
"Coming." I replied quickly, pouring the water in the glass.
"Never mind, you missed it." Came Zayn's voice and I sighed in relief.
"Well someone's now constantly messaging you." He said and I quickly scampered out of the kitchen but stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Zayn holding my phone.
