"Why did I see everyone storm off? I literally just went to the bathroom."
"Looks like living together is taking its toll on everyone." Roy shrugged, untying his mask and I scoffed, locking the door of our compartment on the train.
"You do know I can sniff out a liar in less than three seconds, right? I was trained for that." I said and grabbed my make up bag, pulling out liquid latex, cheek prosthetics and spirit gum. "And I know more than I lead on... it's about the mole, right? I mean, that's the only reason you joined according to what Robin told me."
"I don't know how you can trust them so easily, Domino."
"Call me Maeve, Roy... and it's because I fought side by with these people for months. They've had my back and I've had theirs."
"Especially knowing that-"
"Artemis is Sportsmaster's daughter, Connor is a clone that could have programming we don't know about and Megan is a niece that Manhunter found out he had just weeks before she came to Earth?" I interrupted and he widened his eyes. "Like I said, I know more than you think I know."
"I don't understand how you and Robin could be so calm about this." Roy shrugged, sliding down to the ground.
"I'm the Joker's daughter. Hasn't it ever crossed your mind that I could be a traitor?"
"Once or twice."
"It's the same as me saying that you're the mole, Roy. I mean, you did give us more than enough reasons to doubt."
"I didn't-"
"You joined us outta the blue after your existential crisis the day we went to the Hall. The very same day you said that we'd be nothing more than sidekicks... not to mention that every time we tried to recruit you, you shut us down. You may be our friend, Roy, but that doesn't mean you're a saint and that we shouldn't suspect you." I pointed out and stood up after applying my prosthetics. "How do I look?"
"Normal and it's freaking me out. I'm used to your freaky smile." Roy shrugged.
"So am I." I shrugged, looking at myself in the mirror. "I don't like it... I look strangely normal."
"Didn't you say you had three facial reconstructions?"
"Yep, but J cut up my face again not too long ago and we're back to square one. It wasn't so bad and nothing Bats couldn't stitch up, but still."
"I think this is the first time I heard you say that you don't like looking normal, Maeve."
"Guess I've started to make peace with it."
"Took you long enough."
"No kidding."

"You look normal."
"Thought I was pretty?"
"Still are, but you look normal." Dick mumbled, rapidly wiping his tears. "But still pretty, Mae."
"Stop hiding, Dick." I sighed, untying his mask and he slumped his shoulders. "It's just you and me here. Everyone's mad at Roy right now and needs to blow off steam."
"He accused Haly of being the mastermind of everything, but it's not true! I know it's not!" He whimpered and turned to the Flying Graysons poster. "I just know he's not..."
"Then prove it. Don't let your feelings get in the way, Dick. You want to prove Haly's innocent? You have to put your own feelings aside and focus on what's ahead."
"I miss them..."
"I know you do."
"It's just not fair, Mae! It's not fair!" He cried, falling to his knees and I immediately engulfed him in a hug. "It's not fair..."
"Dick..."
"Why didn't I notice in time? I could've stopped them... I could've done something!"
Each year is the same routine. Dick screaming and blaming himself while I hopelessly tried to help him.
Grief is a funny thing. Apparently, it comes in waves. One moment, you're laughing and the next you're crying your eyes out because the wind changed and it reminded you of the person you miss.
The mind is a curious and dangerous place.
Makes me kinda glad I never have to go through this.
"Let it out, Dick... it's okay." I assured, feeling his tears soak my leotard. "I'm not going anywhere."
"I want them back... Sometimes, I want my old life back." He sobbed and tightened his grip on me. "I feel selfish for saying that."
"It's not selfish to say that you miss your old life with your parents, Dick. If I had your life, I would miss it too."
"Last thing she said was that I reminded her of a robin when I was on the trapeze."
"And that's why you chose it?"
"I thought... I thought that if I used it while I did something good, it'd be like they're still with me and I'd be continuing their legacy in a way."
"I like the thought of that." I smiled and wiped his tears. "I think they'll always be with you in spirit, so you gotta make them proud. And one way to do that is to make sure Haly's innocent."
"But how do I do that? Everyone's against him." Dick sniffled, turning to hide his face on the crook of my neck. "I think your coat's full of snot."
"Don't worry about it... and I have no idea how to do it, but we'll figure it out. We always do."
"What'd I do without you, funny girl?"
"Asking myself the same thing about you, bird boy... now come on, we're on in ten and have to leave immediately after."

"Who knew a Martian could be vulnerable to a human virus?"
"Why does all the interesting stuff happens when I go to the bathroom?"
"Because we don't have to wear prosthetics every night." Dick smirked and I elbowed him. "Sorry... But, when did you start feeling sick?"
"Just after boarding the train. It came on suddenly." Megan answered.
"Same with me the other night. I remember Ray rubbed my head for good luck right before we went on."
"Ray? That roustabout? He touched her before we boarded." Connor added and I raised my eyebrows before walking out. "And where is she going?"
"Mr. Haly!"
"Oh, Dahlia! My favorite aerial performer! Saw that your sister got sick, is she okay?" He asked and placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Oh... she just needs some rest. Dan said he was a lot better so that's good." I grinned and politely shook his hand off. "I have one question, though."
"Ask away."
"How long has Ray worked for you?"
"Picked him up at the start of the European tour. Poor lad's down with the same flu as the rest of them." He answered, and I felt someone pull me back.
"We'll check up on him." Roy butted. "Least we can do."
"If you insist." Haly shrugged and had a ghost of a smirk when I coughed.
"You should stay in bed." Dick told Megan while looking at me with an eyebrow raised. "You too, Dahlia."
"As a friend of mine once said, 'I'll manage.'." Megan assured and I nodded.
"So will I."
"You all split. I'll stay close to Domino... I don't like how Haly was looking at her." Roy said as we all walked away.
"That's because I don't think it's Haly. He always respects the performer's boundaries and she's made it perfectly clear that she doesn't like to be touched if it's not by us." Dick defended.
"Then if it's not Haly, who is it then?"
"No clue."

"Does this circus have an elephant I don't know about?"
"Not on foreign tours."
"Guys... I found Ray." Artemis said, pulling out a mask and we all widened our eyes.
"Search the train." I ordered, grabbing Dick's hand and left the compartment. "Guess we found out who was Haly then."
"If Ray was posing as Jack, then where's-" He was interrupted by a muffled scream in the room next to us. "Never mind... think we found him."
I kicked down the door to see Haly tied up on the floor of his office. Dick immediately ran to untie him while I grabbed his cane to use as a weapon.
"Who did this to you?"
"Ray. Ray the roustabout. Right after the train left Bruges." Haly answered and Dick nodded, immediately running away. "Hey, I'm not Houdini here!"
"Use this." I smirked, tossing him a pocket knife from my boot and ran after Dick, but almost immediately started to slow down. "Dan..."
"Come on, Dahlia." Dick sighed, grabbing my arm and forced me to run faster. "Perfect timing as always, funny girl."
"As if I asked for this, bird boy." I scoffed and was immediately followed by a cough.
"Dawn, come in!"
"Uh, Dan?"
"I tried to reach you the other way.
"I think the flu's knocked out my other way."
"Figured... Dane, Dean, Diane. Come in."
"We're chasing someone who's stolen Dawn's act. Her whole shtick, if you catch my drift." I whispered, exiting the cart.
"I got him. But he's on to me. Exiting the dining car now." Connor called out. "He's gone topside!"
"On it!" Dick and I said in unison and jumped to the top of the train. "It's Parasite!"
"Who?"
"Dude... he stole Supe's powers once upon a time. Do your homework." I rolled my eyes, pulling out another knife from my boot. "The weakness comes when he makes contact and feeds off the powers of others. Lucky for us-"
"We both don't have powers." Dick finished with a smirk.
"I have been a bit of a glutton today. Chowed down on the skills of nearly every loser in this troupe... my piece de resistance was Dawn Danger...or whatever her real name is." Parasite smirked, shifting back to his true form. "Thought I'd munch on her trapeze skills. Imagine my surprise when she tasted like Martian Manhunter instead. Mm. She made a lovely appetizer, so did little Dahlia Danger."
"Watch it." I warned.
"Mmm... tasted a hint of Joker Venom? Bit sweet but just enough to make one crazy. Makes me wonder what else the Daring Dangers are hiding... But guess who I want for my entree?" He taunted, pulling Connor towards him. "Mm. Now that's the full-bodied Kryptonian flavor I love."
"Everyone, stay whelmed. Subdue, but keep your distance." Dick ordered. Roy and Artemis raised their bows but were melted away by Parasite who developed lasers after touching Connor.
"You know, I almost never say this, but I'm sated. Hate to eat and run." Throwing Connor to the ground, he turned to fly away with a box but Dick immediately jumped to it. "Sorry, no hitchhikers."
"Robin!" I yelled, reaching out and grabbed his arm before he fell off the train but I was still too weak to hold him up. "A little help here would be nice!"
"Hang on!" Roy called out, grabbing my legs as Artemis helped joist Dick back up on the train. "You're still too weak to throw yourself out like that."
"Oh, shut up." I spat and turned to Connor. "Heat vision!? When did you get heat vision!?"
"I have the genetic potential for it. Must have been enough for him." He defended and I narrowed my eyes.
"You can continue your interrogation after you eat something and get your Venom shot. He drained it outta you." Artemis said, gently pushing me to the edge.
"I'm fine!"
"And I'm a brunette. Now, move."

"Looks like Parasite's working for Intergang. Everything he's stolen, they're all pieces of something. They're putting together a weapon that generates black holes."
"Come on. To build that, you'd need a particle accelerator." Roy scoffed.
"In English, please. I have no clue what that is." I called out, injecting myself with Joker Venom and winced.
"Like the Large Boson Collider in Geneva?" Dick asked, both of them ignoring me.
"The circus' next stop. Now that Parasite can fly, he's got a big head start on us."
"Sorry." Megan apologized with a frown.
"Not your fault. But this thing could wipe out entire cities. We need to hurry."
"You and I need to hurry. Without powers, the others would hold us back." Roy said, picking up his spare bow. "And Mae's-"
"After five minutes, I can knock you out without breaking a sweat. Let the Venom do its job and I'll be fine... probably a little crazier, but fine." I defended and grabbed my bat. "I'm going too."
"And my powers are back." Connor spat and punched a wall to prove his point, leaving a huge dent behind.
"How!?"
"I guess Kryptonians recover faster than humans or Martians."
"Oh, screw you." I rolled my eyes and he smirked.
"Don't even think about leaving me behind." Megan and Artemis said in unison.
"Yeah, I'm not working a mission with just boys. I need a balance." I teased and Roy sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Call the Bioship... we leave in five."
