"Why is the Knight next to Ra's al Ghul?"

"I knew his fighting style seemed familiar from Robin's footage! He's with the LOA!" I exclaimed and Dick winced. "Sorry... M'gann, how we doing?"

"You're all ready to drop. I'm de-camouflaging now." She said and I gave the signal to everyone. "Say when, Domino. Kaldur and Artemis just woke up.

"Now. I'm on my way down." I smirked and turned on the voice changer of my mask, climbing on Wally's back. "Don't drop me."

"Didn't drop you in Cadmus, won't do it now... but we seriously need to talk about this red suit because it's scaring me." He said and sped to the Cave the Light was in. "Hey, Vandy! Missed me?"

"Ra's, I believe it's time I introduced myself." I called out, jumping off Wally's back. "How feral should I get?"

"As much as necessary." Connor said and I widened my eyes.

"You do realize that means possible first degree manslaughter, right?"

"Eh, we're on our own."

"Good point... just leave the Knight to me and me only. He tried to kill a Robin and I'm not letting him get away with it so easily."

"Well played. Well planned. But the Light always has contingencies." Vandal said and we were sealed in, the top of the cave opening and ninjas dropped down. "Superboy may present a problem, but we'll deal with him when the other children lie bleeding on the ground."

Fucking Ra's.

"Go, Domino! We got this!" Dick said and I nodded, jumping down and landed in front of the Arkham Knight.

"I have a score to settle with you." I said as he pulled out a katana but I pulled out my guns. "Didn't you learn from Ra's and Talia? You never bring a knife to a gun fight."

"Who are you?"

"Oh, I'm gonna be your worst nightmare... you hurt one my kids, and I don't take that shit lightly."

"Domino." He said in realization and I turned off my voice changer.

"Showed you mine, now show me yours. Who the hell are you?"

"Someone who lived a life similar to yours." He said and swung the katana but I moved out of the way.

"Doubt it... I got out of my old life... I was saved." I spat, kicking his chest.

"And what about the one you saved? What about Jason Todd?"

"You keep that kid's name out your mouth." Dick called out and kicked the Knight's ribcage while Tim hit him across the helmet with his staff.

"Step away from my mom, asshole."

"She's not your mother, you pathetic excuse for a Robin. She already had a son." The Knight spat and tried to hit Tim but I stood in the way, making him lower his fist.

"Touch my fucking kid. I fucking dare you." I challenged and turned to Tim. "Mom? Really?"

"Can we put a pin on it? We're kinda busy here!" Tim groaned and pointed at the Knight who had Dick in a chokehold.

"Hey, let go of my bird!" I yelled and shot his helmet, but the bullet bounced off.

Tim and I glanced at each other in shock before running up to the Knight. I climbed on his back and wrapped my legs around his neck while Tim hit his ribcage and pulled Dick away.

I unhooked the crowbar from my suit and pressed it against his neck in an attempt to cut off an airway. Dick kicked the back of his knees and we both fell, my legs moving to his shoulders and I kept pulling the crowbar back.

"Quit, dammit! Quit!" I yelled as Tim grabbed my static gun and pointed it at his helmet. "Won't... do you any good, Robin!"

"That's what you think." Tim smirked and shot the Knight's chest when I let go.

"You're nothing but the replacement!" The Knight yelled, the voice changer malfunctioning for a few seconds revealing his true voice.

Why is his voice so familiar?

"Buddy, I'm the better version!" Tim taunted while I stared down the Knight.

"I feel like I've heard your voice before..." I whispered and he laughed.

"You have... surprised you forgot it so quick."

"Vandal has the right idea. This battle is pointless. Do not resist. The heroes have no jurisdiction here." I heard Ra's say before picking up my crowbar and hit the Knight's helmet, causing it to glitch and reveal a teenage boy in a domino mask, a white streak of hair on his forehead.

"Recognize me now?" The Knight smirked before kicking me back to Dick's arms.

"Who are-"

"Master!" One of Ra's goons yelled and we all turned to see him stabbed in the chest. "Knight, we must leave!"

"It's been a pleasure." The Knight bowed. "Until we meet again... Maeve."

Before I had a chance to react, he used a grappling hook to escape the Cave, holding Ra's body.

"H-how does he-"

"I have no fucking clue, Nightwing." I mumbled and removed the mask covering my mouth. "He... he seems so familiar."

"Someone from your past as Ace?" Tim asked and I shook my head.

"He's too young and would've called me Ace. He's recent, but I don't know who."

"He knows you, and knows you well." Dick said and I nodded, picking up a folded note the Kniggt left behind. "He went for the throat, just like you do... he's studied you."

Wish you never replaced him.

"Hey, baby sis! You good?" Artemis called out and I let out a small sigh of relief. "Loving the new suit, by the way. But I secretly love the green more."

"Why is she paler than usual?" Wally added and I waved it off, not tearing my gaze from the note and the very familiar handwriting.

"Call me crazy and deranged, but doesn't it look like Jaybird's handwriting?" Dick wondered, looking over my shoulder and I nodded.

"His voice... I know his voice. It sounded like him!" I exclaimed and turned to face them. "It sounded like Jason!"

"Domino, Jason's dead." M'gann frowned. "Has been for a year and a half now."

"But it sounded like him."

"Must've been a mod to mess with you." Wally sighed, walking up to me and placed his hands on my shoulders. "You're not gonna go through this again. You thought he was alive when his grave had fresh soil, when you thought you heard his laugh in the Manor, and when Robin put on his suit for the first time... Jason's dead, Domino."

"So why did the Knight sound like him? Why was he so familiar?" I whimpered and Artemis ran up to hug me.

"Because you still see him everywhere, that's why... you miss him." Artemis whispered.

"But I shouldn't... it's not fair to-"

"Me?" Tim called out and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Jason was a part of you in a way that I'll never be, M. You can miss him and still fight with me as Domino and Robin."

"You never truly stop missing someone, funny girl." Dick added and pulled me into his arms. "He was your boy. The one you saved and protected until his last breath. All that's left is to remember him the way he was, not what he should've been."

"I almost forgot his voice. Why did I forget his voice!?" I cried out.

"It's called time... I sometimes forget my mom's voice as well. It happens in waves and you just have to ride it out."

"It's called grieving, Mae. One never fully stops mourning those we have lost." Kaldur said and I lifted my head to see him wipe his own tears and noticed Manta lying dead on the floor.

"Looks like we both killed our fathers, huh?" I chuckled dryly and they all widened their eyes at me. "The asshole had it coming years ago and Batman isn't around! I have freedom to do whatever I want."

"You burned the body?" Connor asked.

"More like donated it to... science."

"Should've burned it."

"Now, where's the fun in that, SB?"

"We are now officially returning command of the Team back to you, Kaldur."

"Now we can go to Fiji for a much needed vacation." I sighed in relief and leaned back against Dick's chest. "God knows we need it. It's been a hell of a year and a half."

"This is unnecessary. You two have done brilliant work leading the Team under the most trying of circumstances." Kaldur said and I rolled my eyes.

"Dude, someone almost died every mission. That's not brilliant, that's peak stupidity... Never make me run a Team again, I beg you."

"Which is exactly why I'm thrilled to have this particular monkey off my back. Job's all yours, pal." Dick laughed and escorted me away. "Fiji, huh?"

"Eh, we need the break. I've been looking at hotels and everything. It'll be so fun!" I smiled and was taken aback when the Warworld was activated again. "Oh, you've got to be fucking kidding me! So close... so fucking close!"

"It's leaving Earth's orbit, heading out into space!"

Suddenly, a Boom Tube opened and Dinah and Captain Marvel fell from it, completely unconscious.

"Sandy beaches were right there! I could almost taste the saltwater." I whined, turning to Dick and Kaldur. "Why do I have a feeling that this would become a permanent problem that we'll have to deal with?"

"Because it already is." Kaldur said and I sighed.

"Always the optimist, Kaldur. Thank you."
