Chapter 13
Alice Lumiathin*TRIGGER WARNING*
As we walk into my childhood neighborhood, we see everything burning. We walk the few houses that have finished burning then we come upon my house.
"Wow I would hate to be the person that lived here." Christopher joked.
"Christopher this is Alice's house." Emma whispered as quietly as possible. My house was perfectly intact. The same house I grew up in. I walked up to the door and turned the handle. Before opening the door I took a deep breathe in expecting total destruction, or a bomb blowing up. I cracked the door then when hearing nothing I open it completely by slightly tapping it with my foot. I walked into a clean house. Not a single thing out of place. I felt a gut wrenching twist in my stomach for all of those houses and innocent people in the fire. We all split up in pairs. Thomas and I, of course, were together. We went to my parents room first on the top floor. Everything was broken, but no sign of my parents. For one minute as I was walking over to my room I felt slight relief that they may have escaped. Then I opened the door to my room. I feel like throwing up from such a gory sight. There was blood everywhere, and there were my adopted parents laying on the floor with their eyes open. I can't do anything. The stench of burning flesh was there. Everything of mine was broken, or torn, or was burnt. I walked over to my closet, and found a note. From Cia.
Darling Alice,
This is what happens when you cross me. I told you to give up last time we met, you foul little girl. Remember, this isn't the end. I WILL BE BACK FOR YOU!
I am completely frozen. I fell to my knees not believing what had happened. I then found myself bawling into my hands. I can't handle this. How can someone be this cruel? This is torture. How can her followers allow this? I hear someone at the door. I don't even bother to turn around. Then I feel someone's arm around me.
"Come on Alice let's get out of here. You shouldn't have to see this. No human should have to see this." He pulled me on my feet and led me out of my room and shut the door to the past. I have to focus on the mission at hand. He pulled me into a tight hug. I unleashed all my tears for everything into his sweet smelling shirt.
"I'm so sorry Alice."
"They didn't deserve this." I say as I force myself out of his arms.
"Let's get the things we need, and get out of here before someone notices." I say holding back any tears I have in me. I have a feeling this is not going to be the only fatalities we have here. So we start down the stairs. As we come upon the garage we run into Emma and Christopher.
"Oh Gosh! You guys scared me did you find anything?" Emma asked out of curiosity. I didn't say anything fearing I would start crying again, so I decided Thomas should talk.
"Nope, but Alice was thinking there might be something in the garage." Thanks Thomas. I wish I didn't have to do what I have to at the colony.
"Ooo-Kay then let's go." Of course I led in case I saw anything. I opened the door cautiously, but thats when the bomb went off. Everything was muted, and there was a ringing in my ears. The bomb was probably just pressurized,so it couldn't do real damage. I looked around frazzled. Everyone was fine just getting up. There is no way we can stay here any longer. What is here isn't that important. When the ringing in my ear stops I hear meowing... Willow.
"Willow! C'mere kitty kitty!" I called. Then an excited Willow came running to me. I picked her up and put her in my bag.
"Are you guys okay?" I say calmly helping Christopher up.
"Yea no injuries. I think we should get going though." Emma had pretty much just read my mind. So we hustled out. We ran until we couldn't run any farther. We ended up at what everyone calls the foothills. This is where any rebels that survived would live. We have to get through here to get closer to the colony. It's perfect place to rest for a bit. We are making pretty good timing luckily. It's only 12 o' clock. We soon came across a barbed wire fence. A man with a shot gun came out.
"State your name, and business then we'll see if you get to live."He has a thick country accent.
"Um Alice can we trust this guy?" Thomas questioned my thought process. I shushed him with my hand.
"My name is Alice Lumiathin. These are my friends Thomas, Emma, and Christopher. We are heading to the Chevokolian colony."
"Come quickly. We don't want to draw attention." We hurried onto his property then inside.
"Thank you so much." Thomas thanked the man.
"No thank you. My name is Clay Shiloh." Seems pretty rebel to me
"I'm so glad to see more rebels alive." I am so relieved that Clay is a rebel.
"Yea apparently there are more than humans alive." He said as he pointed to Willow in my bag.
"Sorry she's from my home." I spit out.
"She's fine. How long will you be staying?"
"Just enough to eat and relax for a minute. The colony is less than 6 hours on foot."
"I'm glad to hear the heroes want to get it done soon." Clay called us heroes how odd.
"Yup that's the kind of people we are." Christopher spoke up. Clay led us to his dinning room and gave us sandwiches.
"Thank you for the food Mr.Shiloh." Emma is so formal.
"Please call me Clay. It's no big deal."Everyone was talking so I snuck out to the bathroom. I closed the door, and un-bandaged the previous cuts. I relapsed those washed them off, then went to my other arm, and cut all the way up to my elbow. The blood was a beautiful sight. I tried to be quiet, and not cry. I ran some cold water and bandaged my arm. I decided to walk out with a serious face like my usual self. I came upon the kitchen.
"The sandwiches were really delightful, but we should be going." I'm glad we ran into Clay, but we need to go. Maybe if we're lucky he will have some kind of vehicle we could use.
"Well thank you for the visit. Good luck on saving the world!"
"Thank you we will need all the luck we can get." Thomas joked. With the final wave from Clay we were running again. Ten minutes passed when we faced our next challenge....... Cia.
