Chapter 39: Tables (Claire's POV)
I sat there on the couch, waiting anxiously for the text that Leo was supposed to send me when he gets here so that I can get out. I just want to go home now. Home as in Leo's house. I was sitting there when my phone dinged in my pocket. I shot up out of my seat and looked at it.
I'm inside, unlock your door.
I inserted the key and unlocked it. I opened the door but saw nobody. What the-
I gasped and slammed the door shut immediately when I saw Leo, Flynn, and Theo fighting with four or five other guys, all of them stumbling into this hallway. I heard a lot of crashing, a lot of thuds, a lot of grunts in pain. I finally opened the door and saw Flynn running over to my door. I opened and stood there in confusion. "What the hell is going on?"
"You didn't think we can come in here and get you out without getting our hands a little bloody did you?" he chuckled, "Come on, Princess, let's go!" He grabbed my hand and began running down the hall.
"You son of a bitch! You took her!" Leo yelled at Theo.
"My mom is a bitch. God damn it, Peter!" Theo yelled while shaking his hand after punching the guy from earlier who came to check my room. "Strong jaw," he nodded.
"You-"
"Guys! We're short on time here!" Flynn exclaimed, snapping them both out of it.
"Are you okay?" Leo walked over to me.
"I-" I stumbled back, tripping over one of Seth's men who had passed out. "Oh," I gasped.
"Are you okay, Claire? Look at me." He held my face in his hands, tilting my chin up.
"I-I'm okay, yeah no, I'm okay," I breathed out. He sighed in relief, his forehead resting against mine. I threw my arms around his neck and we stood like that for a second, Flynn and Theo staring at the ground awkwardly. "Um- guys," I stuttered.
We all looked forward, seeing about five or six more men. "Is there any other way out of this hallway?" Flynn asked.
"It's a one way ticket to hell," Theo answered.
"Just stand back, okay?"
"But you-"
"Stand back, Claire!" Leo yelled.
I huffed but retreated my steps and stood a little further away. There were fists and kicks flying everywhere. Leo, Flynn, and Theo were all bleeding, but a lot less than the men on the floor.
"Come on!" Theo yelled.
I ran over and Leo grabbed my hand, all of us sprinting down the hall. "You've got to be fucking kidding me," I mumbled, retreating and going back once again as a few more men came. "Did you bring any help?!" I called out to Leo.
"I did, they're not here yet!" he replied before knocking a guy out. "God damn that hurt," he winced, shaking his hand.
"Leo, duck!" And he did. This is just unbelievable.
"It's like you're in a movie, huh?" Flynn asked while coming and standing beside me.
"Yeah," I nodded absentmindedly. "What are you doing here? Go!" I pushed him back there. He whined before kneeing a guy's stomach. That's that then.
"Claire!" I looked past them and saw Aesha. "Come on!" she yelled, waving me over.
"You want me running through that?!" I screamed.
"Hurry the fuck up! Just do it, bitch!" she yelled.
I looked at the people in front of me, praying to god before taking a deep breath. I ran through, dodging people falling over and the kicks they threw. "Holy fucking Jesus," I panted, standing beside her.
"Hey!" We looked to the left and saw another man coming over. Bigger. Way bigger.
"It wasn't us," we said in sync. He marched right past us and over to them. It might take all three to take that one down. "Let's go!"
"What are you doing here?" I asked while she pulled me to the exit.
"I'm the getaway driver," she chuckled. "Duh!" We got to the exit of the house and stopped seeing Seth there. "Uh oh," she mumbled, "Hi," she smiled. Before he could say anything, we heard echoing footsteps and all three of them panting and breathing heavily.
"We- god damn it," Leo said breathlessly, resting his elbow on my shoulder. "This guy," he scoffed.
"Theo, what are you doing?" he asked through gritted teeth.
"Oh, how the tables have turned," Aesha and Flynn said in sync. Everyone looked at them.
"Just shut up," Theo said to them before turning to Seth. "I know what you're doing. Let them go," he said.
"His father killed my wife!" Seth yelled.
"No, he didn't, cut the bullshit. You know who did it, I know who did it, tell him," Leo stepped forward. Seth punched Leo right in the jaw and we all froze.
Dumbfuck.
Leo wiped his now bloody lip and stepped back. "Tell him, Seth."
Was he not going to hit back?
"Leo, what are you doing?" Flynn asked.
"I thought we're supposed to kill him," Aesha said. I stared at her. "Just saying," she shrugged.
"Leo, take out the gun," Theo mumbled. I glanced at his waistband and saw the gun behind him, tucking in.
Was he really going to kill him?
It wouldn't bother me if he did, I just don't want to be here to see it. "Are you gonna do it?" I whispered.
He looked down at me while reaching for the gun. He stared at me for a long time before sighing, "No." He took out the gun and handed it to Theo. "Up to you," he said as Theo took it. "I'm gonna need that gun back though," Leo mumbled.
He's trusting Theo with the gun?
"Let's get out. Now, go!" Flynn said before Leo grabbed my hand and pulled me out with him. We all got out and filed into his car as I saw the people from the race filing into their cars as well and driving off. They probably handled most of the men working for Seth.
Is this real? Am I dreaming?
We sat in the car, waiting, I'm not sure what for. A gunshot echoed and Aesha and I jumped. Flynn was driving, she was shotgun, and Leo and I were seated at the back. I grabbed onto his arm tightly, closing my eyes. He sighed before pulling me into him and holding me there. "He really killed him?" I whispered.
"I don't know, love," he said, resting his head on top of mine.
Moments later there was a knock on Leo's window. I looked up as he rolled it down. "I didn't kill him," Theo said, handing him the gun, "But I don't think he's gonna walk any time soon," he shrugged. Leo took the gun and tucked it under the seat. "Do I get a ride back home or what?" he asked.
"Get in," Flynn said.
He came and sat on my other side. Flynn began driving in silence, Aesha fell asleep on the way back. It was almost over an hour's drive. "You okay?" I looked up at Leo as he asked me that. I nodded slowly. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah," I mumbled, wrapping an arm around his torso.
"I told you not to get out of the house, didn't I?" he asked.
"I didn't, they just grabbed me at the door," I whined. He glared at Theo who simply blew him a kiss. I kicked his leg and he rolled his eyes, staring out of the window.
"Did you get dizzy?" he asked.
"I got so dizzy, I even passed out," I explained. I began telling him every little thing that happened and by the time I was done telling my story, I was exhausted and very sleepy. "How long was I gone?" I asked.
"Almost eight hours," he whispered, running his fingers through my hair before kissing my forehead.
"I'm tired, Leo," I mumbled.
"Go to sleep, babe," he chuckled.
The last thing I heard before I dozed off was Theo telling Leo, "You got the right girl, man. Keep her. You love her?"
"Of course, I do. Everyone isn't a fuck face like you," Leo replied. Theo laughed and I bit back a smile myself. I fell asleep, feeling Leo's fingers running through my hair and kisses on my forehead.
I woke up after that in bed. Changed. Cleaned up.
What the-
"Oh, good. You're awake, I got you spaghetti," Leo grinned, walking in.
I rubbed my eyes while sitting up against his headboard. "Did you change me?" I asked while he sat in front of me.
"Of course, I did," he smirked while rolling spaghetti around the fork before blowing on it and holding it up.
"You're gonna feed me now?" I chuckled.
"Duh," he chuckled. After feeding me the spaghetti and talking to me for a while, he lay beside me, his legs tangled with mine, his arms around my, fiddling with the hem of his shirt that he'd put on me. "I'm so sorry, Claire."
"Don't be. Watching you fight was a sight to see," I chuckled, running my fingers through his hair.
"You have no idea how much I love you."
"I think could take a guess," I chuckled before leaning down and kissing him.
His hand slipped under my shirt and rested at my waist. He broke the kiss only to pull his shirt off his head but before he could take mine off, the door pushed open and Ace and Max came running. Ace barked before staring at me, grinning. I picked them up, kissing them all over.
"They came and called me you know," he sighed, scratching Max.
"I saw them running upstairs. Figured we parented them well," I grinned.
"Hmm, so well that we can't get a moment alone," he grumbled.
"Go annoy Flynn, go," I kissed them before putting them down. They ran back out and I closed the door behind them, locking it. I leaned against the door, staring at him.
"What?" he chuckled. His hair was a mess, he was shirtless, his sweatpants were hanging loosely at his waist.
"You look fucking beautiful," I sighed. I stepped forward and he reached out and grabbed my shirt, pulling it to him, me with it.
"You look fucking beautiful," he whispered with a smile before kissing me, hard.
It's just impossible to resist Leo Jackson.
You can't quite resist your savior when he looks that good.
"I love you, Leo," I mumbled against his lips.
"I love you, Claire."
