Winter P.O.V

I was 4 when it happened... The day I lost my parents..

"Mommy! Daddy! When are we gonna be there?!" I yelled from my booster seat behind my mom in the back seat. My mom and dad laughed a little, "Soon, pumpkin." My mom said softly, my dad looked back at me, seeing the road was empty.

"Hey, Snowy, when we get to you Gram's house, how about we go swim-" he was cut off as my mom screamed, "TOM!!" My dad's eyes snapped forward in time to see a truck coming right at us, I was so scared, I started to cry. My dad swerved but it didn't do any use, the truck collided head on with my parents' small Honda and I heard my mom scream, "Winter! Cover your head!!" I covered my head and curled up, squeezing my eyes closed.

Somehow, I felt the car roll and when it stopped I uncovered my eyes and crawled to the front seat, my mom and dad were bloody and broken. Mom wasn't moving and dad's face was twisted in pain, "Snowy... Call for help..." He croaked and I got the cell phone from the glove box, "Sweetie, just k-know.. Me and mommy will always be with you... Never give up hope..."

I, knowing what that meant, started to tremble and sob. "Daddy! No!! You and mommy are gonna be okay!!" He smiled sadly at me and his eyes closed, "I love you, Snowy Girl..." I never let anyone ever call me that name since... It hurt too much and I had too much hope that it'd bring my mom and dad back... It's stupid to dream like that.. I watched them die in front of me...

The next few weeks I was getting into the foster system, the day after my 5th birthday, I was shipped to my first foster home in Phoenix, Arizona. It was awful... They treated me like dirt...

Next home was also torture, in Topeka, Kansas. The parents I got assigned to never seemed to actually want me... I spent 8 years going back and forth like this... Until I was flown from New York to Charlotte, North Carolina.. My host mom was actually nice, cared for me, everything... I've lived there with a older brother that's 18 now since I was 13. I'm 15 today and I still remember that day 10 years ago like its a movie played in front of me...
