...Chapter 1...
Winter P.O.V
I woke up to my alarm clock blaring the song Victorious by Panic at the Disco and I groaned slightly, sitting up and running a hand through my hair. Mid terms are soon, gotta study tonight... Test today in World Geo...
My basic thoughts consisted of making sure I get good grades.. I know, I'm the nerd of the school. I'm a glasses clad protector of the library that can't even talk in class.. Yup... I'm totally nailing this high school thing.. Note the sarcasm...I get up and put on a band tee, my oversized batman hoodie, skinny jeans, and my favorite black converse high tops.
I walk into the bathroom, groggily and begin to straighten my night black hair that has streaks of light green in it. I then put on my black rimmed glasses and fix my hair by brushing it and it falls over my right eye and covers half my face. I like to think that if people can't see my face, they can't judge me... Not like people talk to me anyways.
I walk downstairs and my foster mom smiles at me, "Morning, Winter." I nod in her direction, I've been depressed since the accident and she knows I mean well; even if I look like I don't care. I love her to death honestly, my foster brother, Josh, walks in and waves at me, a half smile on his lips, "Hey, kiddo.." I smile a tiny bit and the only reason why is that Josh halfway understands me. I'm really close to him, he let's me talk to him if I need it..
I grab my breakfast and run out the door, "Bye Grace, bye Josh." I start to walk to school and when I get there I see something I haven't seen for a while: a crowd in front of the school around what looks like a guy. I tried not to get noticed and I just keep my head down but no, my luck had to have Mr. Popular spot me... I saw him watching me and our eyes met.
I looked away quickly with a blush on my cheek and I ran off inside the school. My heart was racing, thoughts whirring, my legs felt like jelly. I walked quickly to my Advanced World Geo class and took my seat near the back. The teacher, Mr. Tai, walked in after the rest if the students had gotten here and I saw Mr. Popular with him.. He's in here..? Oh right, I'm a year ahead in this class. I'm with the 10th graders even though I'm in 9th grade.
"Good morning class, please welcome our new transfer student, his name is Jayden Scott and I expect you all to treat him with respect." Mr. Tai said to the students while I studied for my test. I looked up and saw Jayden heading to sit next to me and I grabbed my black Attack on Titan beanie and pulled it on quickly, once again looking away as he sits down.
Mr. Tai starts the lesson before the test and I hear Jayden whisper to me, "Hi, I saw you coming into school. I'm Jayden." I blushed lightly and glanced at him and whispered back, "Winter... And yeah, you seem to be pretty... Popular already..." He looked embarrassed, "Yeah, transfer kid on his way to a basketball scholarship already at 16.. So interesting." The hint of sarcasm in his voice causes me to smile and blush again.
"I want to get to know you a bit, Winter.. Can I see you during lunch?" I thought about all of the people sitting with him at lunch. "I... Don't like crowds..." He nodded, "I can get them away. Please?" He pouted at me, I smiled a little again and stifled a small laugh.. I haven't laughed in a long time... I nodded and he smiled a smile that seemed to brighten the room, I felt my heart melt a little and my face flushed crimson.

I walked into the cafeteria and Jayden saw me and smiled that smile again, he got up and walked over to me, "Hey. Glad you took me up on my offer." I nodded shyly and a few of the other jocks came over and laughed, "Come on, man! Why are you talking to the mute?" I shrunk back at that and Jayden noticed, "Hey, man, chill out. Don't say that about her."
The jock just ignored him and his attention tired on me again, "What, mute? Cat got your tongue? Or are you still screwed up because you don't have parents?" That hit a cord in me and I looked down, fists clenched, tears pricking the back of my eyes. I heard Jayden's voice turn icy and he stepped in front of me, "Back off, dude... If you don't want my foot so far up your butt that you can't walk, I suggest you shut up and go away..." I've never had anyone stand up for me before... Jayden is... different...
The jock rolled his eyes and walked away, muttering something that I didn't hear and didn't need to. Jayden turned to me, his eyes soft. "Are you ok..? I-I'm sorry... About your parents.." I nodded, "I-It was a little over ten years ago.. I was 4... I-it was a car crash..." My voice trembled and I felt the tears fall down my cheeks, I felt Jayden lead me out to the hall; like he knew I didn't want people to see me cry.
As soon as the door closed he wrapped me in his arms, "Hey... Hey... It's alright, Winter... I'm here..." I blushed and tried to stop the tears but couldn't. Jayden tilted my head up and he saw my grey eyes with a tint of violet in them. "You have beautiful eyes.." He said softly, I blushed more and got a small smile on my face.
"D-do you wanna come to my house tonight? I need help with some of the Geo homework anyways and... We can talk." I quickly nodded and my smile grew a little, he smiled, "You should smile more often, it's beautiful..." I blushed and giggled lightly. Man I haven't done that in forever...
I couldn't wait to go to his house.. I'm actually excited.
