Chapter 14

Sonic's POV

I watched Kianna closely as she cuddled into me, shivering. It was a cold night tonight. The others are gathered around the fire that Tails made. Kianna kept yawning so I insisted that she go to sleep. She tried going to sleep, but it was too cold so I decided to snuggle with her and keep her warm. One of her stumps dug into me. 'We need to get her old clothes back, or get her some new ones.' I thought. She was still wearing the red bikini. We cleaned her up earlier and got rid of all the blood and white stuff, and tended to her cuts and scrapes. She turned around so she was facing me and she cuddled into my chest.

"Werehog…" She started. I looked in her eyes as she looked in mine. "Thank you… For everything… I don't deserve how kind you're being to me after everything I did…" I smiled and hugged her.

"Of course you do. Besides, everybody deserves a second chance." She smiled and nuzzled my nose with hers.

"Werehog… I know I've asked a lot of you, but can you promise me something..?" She asked, sitting up. I smiled and sat up next to her, putting my arm around her neck as she shivered.

"Again?" I asked, smiling. She looked down, sadly.

"I understand if you say no."

"Sorry…" My grin faded, "I'm just joking. Anything." She looked back up at me and smiled.

"Can you promise me that I won't have to go back?" She asked.

"Back? Back where?" I asked.

"I don't wanna go back!" She wailed, and she started crying into my chest. Keanna, Amanda, and Tails came rushing over. 'I gotta introduce them soon.'

"What's wrong?!" Tails asked. I hugged Kianna and smoothed down her hair, whispering reassuring words as we both ignored Tails and the others.

"If I have anything to do with it, you'll never go back. You'll never set foot in that awful place ever again. I'll kill that Eggs-for-brains for you if it's the last thing I do. Got it?" I asked.  "I promise." Kianna nodded. Tails and the others stayed quiet. I looked up at them and gave them a sad look. They all nodded, then walked away silently. I focused all of my attention back on Kianna. She snuggled into me, quiet tears streaming down her cheeks.

She bit her lip in an attempt to stop crying, but she failed. I smoothed her down and hugged her. "Just let it all out, ok? Don't hold back." I told her. She nodded, then started bawling. She put her head on my chest and hugged me as she cried. We sat like that until she cried herself to sleep in my arms.
