The siblings were all in the kitchen by the table as Five was standing at the edge of the table, putting a cutting board on the table before he walked over to get the bread while Maddie was standing over by the door, leaning her back against the wall.

"What's the date? The exact date" Five asked as he grabbed the bread "The 24th" Vanya said "Of what?" Five asked as he walked back to the table "March" Vanya said "Good" Five said "So, are we gonna talk about what just happened?" Luther asked.

Five ignored Luther as he put the bread on the cutting board "It's been 17 years" Luther said as he got up from the chair "Actually it has being a little bit over 16 years" Freddy said and Five looked at him with a small smile before he looked at Luther and scoffs "It's been a lot longer than that" he said before blinking behind Luther and stood on a chair to get the marshmallow for his sandwich "I haven't missed that" Luther said.

"Where'd you go?" Diego asked "The future" Five said and blinked back to the table "It's shit, by the way" he said "Called it" Klaus said and lifted up his finger.

"I should've listened to the old man" Five said and opened the refrigerator to get the peanut butter before he walked back to the table "You know jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice" Five said before he looked up and narrowed his eyes at Klaus "Nice dress" he said before looking back down to make his sandwich.

"Oh, well, danke!" Klaus said "Wait, how did you get back?" Vanya asked "In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time" Five said causing all the siblings to have a confuse look on their faces.

"But project your consciousness forwards into a suspended quantum state version of yourself that exists across every possible instance of time, that is hard and dangerous and it can go really wrong" Freddy said, knowing exactly what he was talking about making them all except for Five to look at him confuse "It was" Five said with a small smile. He was glad that Freddy haven't changed, he was still the smartest.

Freddy noticed how the others was looking at him "What, he shifted, it make sense" he said, "That makes no sense" Diego said "Well, it would if you were smarter" Five said and Diego stood up, ready to go after Five, but Luther put a hand in front of him.

"How long were you there?" Luther asked "Twenty-seven years. Give or take" Five said and the siblings all widened their eyes while both Luther and Diego sat back down.

"So what are you saying? That you're 40?" Luther asked "No, my consciousness is 40" Five said and closed his marshmallow and peanut butter sandwich "Apparently, my body is now 16 again" Five said "Wait? How does that even work?" Vanya asked "Delores kept saying the equations were off. Eh" Five said before taking a bite of his sandwich.

Maddie felt some jealousy running through her body 'Who the hell is Delores?' she asked inside her head.

She spend a long time staying single for Five, she guess he just assumed to do the same, but she was a fool.

"Bet she's laughing now" Five said "Delores?" Vanya asked, but Five took another bite of his sandwich as he picked up the newspaper from the table to see their father Reginald Hargreeves on the front page and he read the headline above the picture of Reginald.

"Guess I missed the funeral" he said "How'd you know about that?" Luther said "What part of the future do you not understand?" Five asked annoying.

"Heart failure, huh?" he asked him "Yeah" Diego said "No" Luther said.

Maddie rolled her eyes "I have heard enough" she said before she walked out of the kitchen with Freddy behind her.

Five watched her leave the kitchen with a sad look on his face.

"Hmm" Five said before he clicked his tongue "Nice to see nothing's changed" he said before walking away "Uh, that's it? That's all you have to say?" Allison asked "What else is there to say? The circle of life" Five said before he left "That was interesting" Luther said.

When he had eating his sandwich, Five walked into the living room, looking at the portrait of himself that was hanging above the fireplace.

Vanya walked up to him "Nice to know Dad didn't forget me" he said as he turned to look at Vanya "Read your book, by the way. Found it in a library that was still standing" he said before he walked around Vanya with his hands in his pockets.

"I thought it was pretty good, all things considered" he said before stopping behind her causing her to turn around to look at him while he was looking up in the ceiling.

"Yeah, definitely ballsy, giving up the family secrets, writing all the stuff about Maddie and Freddy. Sure that went over well" he said as he looked at her while taking some steps closer to her.

"They hate me" she said "I don't think Maddie and Freddy hates you" he said "The others do" she said "Oh, there are worse things that can happen" he said "You mean like what happened to Ben?" she asked "Was it bad?" he asked "I wasn't there, but Maddie told me about it. She told us that Ben died in front of her" she said and he nodded "I better go up and talk to her, I have missed her so much" he said before walking out of the living room.

Five walked upstairs and into his room, he opened his closet to only find a full row of Umbrella Academy uniforms with red accents "Ah, shit" he said before he grabbed one of them.

He changed into his blue umbrella uniform. A dress shirt, tie, and vest underneath a blue blazer with matching schoolboy short, and with blue shorts and black knees length socks.

After he have changed, he walked out of his room and towards Maddie's room where he saw Freddy walking out of the room.

"Hey Fred" Five said and Freddy looked at him "Hey Five" Freddy said and they did their secret and special handshake.

That handshake was something Five and Freddy invented together when they were kids. Freddy and Maddie had their secret whistle, so Five and Freddy decided to invent a secret and special handshakes, that only the two of them used.

We're living different lives

"I need to talk to her" Five said "She is in there" Freddy said and pointed towards the door "Is she mad?" Five asked "I don't know, some of the times, it's hard to tell" Freddy said "Is she mad at me?" Five asked "I don't know, she haven't throw anything at you or giving you the killer look yet, so I think she is fine" Freddy said and Five sighed.

"I bet she wouldn't even talk to me, I bet she is really angry at me for leaving like that" Five said "I doubt that" Freddy said and Five looked at him "She know that you didn't mean to" he said "Do you think that she will forgive me?" Five asked "Only one way to find out, go in there and talk to her" Freddy said "Okay" Five said and took a deep breath before he walked towards the room.

"And Five" Freddy said and Five looked at him "It's good to have you back" he said "It's good to be back" Five said and Freddy was about to walk away when Five spoke up "Hey, Fred" he said and he looked at him "Thank you for keeping her safe. You kept your promise" he said "Of course I did" Freddy said with a smile "Thank you for that" Five said "You're welcome" Freddy said "No, really, thank you for everything, I owe you more than once" he said "You don't owe me anything, she is my best friend" Freddy said before he walked away.

Five opened the door to see Maddie sitting on her bed with a knife floating around her fingers. "Hey" he chuckled nervously and Maddie moved two of her fingers forward causing the knife to flew right towards a shooting target that was hanging on the wall and the knife right the target right in the middle.

She then turned to look at Five "Hey" she said "We need to talk. Can I come in?" he asked "Yeah" she said and Five entered before he closed the door behind him.

He walked over and sat down next to her "So are you mad at me?" he asked "Mad, what could I be mad about?" she asked "With the whole leaving you behind for all these years" Five said "No, I was never mad. Sad yes, but never mad" she said before she looked at him.

"Five, my whole world collapsed when you left. I couldn't even describe the pain I felt" she said.
"I didn't knew that I mean so much to you?" he asked "You mean everything to me, you idiot" she chuckled a bit before letting out a sigh.

"I don't even know what you were doing this whole time when you were away...were the future really that great you didn't want to come back?" she asked "Not at all" he said "Then why didn't you come back...It have being almost 17 years for me, 17 painful years" she said "Trust me Maddie, I tried...but I couldn't" he let out a sigh "I'm truly sorry. If I could come back sooner, I would have done it so without hesitation" he said "What happen?" she asked.

"Will you let me explain?" he asked, she gave him a quick look before looking away and nodded.

"You know that I never wanted to leave you, right?" he said and she nodded "My plan was to go back to you and show you after the next jump, but--" "It was there it went wrong" she said, cutting him off and he nodded "I never wanted it to happen" he said "I know. You jumped forward in the future and got stuck, didn't you?" she asked and he nodded "I did" he said.

"What have you been doing?" she asked "It's a long story" he said "Will you tell me?" she asked "Not now, but I promise later" he said and she nodded.

Five's eyes then spotted the piano still with the carving, he then saw that Maddie still have pictures of them in her room "I can see that you have not changed out the pictures or painted the piano" he said "Why would I?" she asked and he looked at her "I never stop believing that you would return one day" she said and he smiled.

"You still have that watch I once gave you" she said as she spotted the watch around his left wrist "Of course and I have never taking it off, not once" he said "I can't believe that it still works" she said "Neither can I" he said and she smiled which 'cause him to smile as well "You have no idea, how much I have missed that smile" he said.

"I'm glad you came back" she said "I'm glad too. You have no idea how much I have missed you" he said and she looked at him "I have missed you too, so much, you damn idiot" she said before wrapping her arms around gim.

Five wasn't used to hug, the last hug he had was years ago, and that was from Maddie too. 

He was stuck in the future in an apocalypse for years and never got to hug anyone, he spend twenty-seven years without any physical contact. He didn't really care about hugs and it was the last thing he needed until today. So it actually felt nice and he was glad that the first hug he have gotten in years was from Maddie.

So Five let out a smile before he wrapped his arms around her.

"This is nice" he said quietly as he hugged her tighter while she let out smile.

Both Maddie and Five felt whole when they were hugging like this, happy to be with each other again.

Maddie know that she wasn't dreaming, this was real, Five had came back to her, like she was always hoping. He was really here again. She was so happy hugging him again, she felt whole and her pain and problems just went away when she could feel his skin touching hers, when she could feel that he was near her.

And tearful skies
Are home again

They pulled away and Five spotted the necklace around her neck "Still have the necklace" he said "Of course, I promised I would never take it off, and I never had" she said before she looked at him.

His dark brown hair that almost looked black was a little messy after the jump but still perfect, and his green eyes that was looking right back at her, were still warm and they were still able to get her heart to beat faster, and get her to forget everything around her and while bringing out a smile on her face, like they were always able to do.

No matter how many years have past or will past, Five was still beautiful.

Five's and Maddie's eyes locked "I'm so sorry for leaving, I should have taking you with me, but I didn't. I'm so sorry for hurting your feelings. For leaving you alone for all those years, just because I wanted to time travel. I'm sorry, can you forgive me?" he asked and she nodded "I accept your apologize" she said and he smiled "Thanks for coming back" she said "Always and I will never leave you again. I promise" he said and she smiled.

Both Five and Maddie leaned closer to each other before Five lifted his right hand up to Maddie's left cheek and their lips was few inches from each other.

But then they were interrupted by Luther "Five! Maddie! It's time for the funeral, so get down here!" he shouted from downstairs causing both Maddie and Five to pull away.

"Come, let's go to the funeral" Maddie said as she got up and walked towards the door.

As she put her hand on the handle she turned around and looked at Five "Are you coming?" she asked, he smiled and got up before he walked over to her and they left the room.

Thunder was rumbling and it was raining as everyone went outside to the courtyard before standing in a circle.

Everyone except for Luther and Diego was holding a black umbrella each, except for Klaus who was holding an pink umbrella made for kids.

Maddie was standing between Five and Klaus and Freddy was standing next to Klaus, smoking while holding his own umbrella.

Maddie looked over at the statue of Ben.

She could feel tears in her eyes, God, she miss him so much. She still felt that it was her fault that he died, if she could just have being stronger or more in control, maybe she was able to save him but she wasn't and now she has to live with the blame.

Then she could feel someone grabbing her hand and she looked to the left to see Five looking at her "You okay?" he asked and she nodded.

"Did something happen?" Grace asked and they all looked confused at her "Dad died. Remember?" Allison asked "Oh. Yes, of course" Grace said, looking down as her smile faded "Is Mom okay?" Allison asked and Diego looked at her "Yeah, yeah, she's fine" he said before looking back at Grace while Klaus pulled up a smoke with his free hand "She just needs to rest. You know, recharge" Diego said.

"Whenever you're ready, dear boy" Pogo said, looking at Luther who was holding the urn which contained their father's ashes.

Luther opened the urn before he flip it upside down causing the ashes to fell straight down on the ground, making a pile.

Luther looked around at the others awkwardly "Probably would have been better with some wind" he said before he looked at Freddy "Freddy" he said "What?" Freddy asked, looking at Luther "Would you mind making some wind to send it off?" Luther asked "Yeah, I would mind" Freddy said "Would you do it?" Luther asked "Maybe in a hour or two" Freddy said and took a puff of his cigar "You are not going to do it there, are you?" Diego asked "No" Freddy said.

Luther then looked at Maddie "Maddie, would you tell your pet to created a little wind" Luther said "Hey" both Maddie and Freddy said "I'm not a pet" Freddy said, giving the cigar back to Klaus who quickly took a puff of it.

"Freddy is a human being, I don't want to tell him what to do, he can do what he want, so if he don't want to, then no one shall force him to do it. And I also think that dad is fine right where he is" Maddie said.

Silence took over for a few seconds.

"Does anyone wish to speak?" Pogo asked, breaking the silence "I will" Maddie said and they all looked at her "Reginald, you were a terrible father when you were alive. And you were a terrible father when you were dead" Maddie said causing Five, Freddy, Klaus and Diego to try to hold in their laugh.

"In all regards, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made what I am today. For that alone, I shall forever be in his debt. He was my master...and my friend, and I shall miss him very much. He leaves behind a complicated legacy--" "He was a monster" Diego said, cutting Pogo off and Klaus laughed at Diego's words.

"He was a bad person and a worse father. The world's better off without him" Diego said "Diego" Allison said "He is not wrong, he was an asshole" Maddie said "He was" Freddy said.

"My name is Number Two. You know why? Because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names. He had Mom do it" Diego said.

"He is not wrong, he was an asshole. He was horrible to us. He emotionally abused us. Gave us childhood trauma. He put us through hell, tortured us with our own powers for years. Treated us as lab rats. He never gave any of light of day unless it was for a new training session and worse of all, we had numbers for names. Damn numbers" Maddie said as she remember the experiments Reginald put her through, damaged her for life.

"If you really think he was so horribel, then why did you stayed for so long?" Luther asked as he looked at her "I didn't stay for him. I stayed in case Five returned to Academy" she blurted out and Five looked at her.

"Would anyone like something to eat?" Grace asked "No, it's okay. Mom" Maddie said "Oh, okay" Grace said.

"Look, you wanna pay your respects?" Diego said as he stepped into the circle so he was in front of everyone "Go ahead. But at least be honest about the kind of man he was" he said "You should stop talking now" Luther said and Diego turned around to look at him "You know, you of all people should be on my side here, Number One" he said "I am warning you" Luther said, a little aggressive "After everything he did to you? He had to ship you a million miles away" Diego said "Diego, stop talking" Luther said aggressiv "That's how much he couldn't stand the sight of you!" Diego said as he was poking his finger at Luther's chest.

Luther push Diego's hand away and threw a punch at him which Diego dodged causing them both to let out a grunt as everybody stepped back "Boys, stop this at once!" Pogo shouted at them.

"Here they go again" Maddie said as she rolled her eyes "Jesus, those two never stop fighting" Freddy said.

Klaus put his hand in front of Maddie and Five and backed away, but Five push his arm away.

Luther threw a punch at Diego, hitting him making him step back "Come on big boy! Come on!" Diego shouted at him, punching him again.

Pogo let out a sigh and a scoff, shaking his head before he turned around and went inside.

Diego dodged another of Luther's punch, he then jumped up and punched him three times causing him to grunted.

"STOP IT" Vanya shouted "Hit him! Hit him!" Klaus said "GUYS STOP IT" Maddie shouted.

Luther grabbed Diego's shirt "Get off me!" Diego shouted and punched Luther in the face causing him to let go.

"We don't have time for this. Come on Maddie" Five said.

"Come here, big boy!" Diego said and Luther threw a punch towards Diego who jumped to the side making Luther's fist hit Ben's statue causing it to fell down on the ground, breaking "Oh..." Klaus said "And there goes Ben's statue" Allison said.

Diego then grabbed one of his knives "Diego, no" Vanya shouted, but Diego threw the knife at Luther and it just hit a little bit of Luther's arm leaving a little cut on his arm.

"Okay, that's is enough, Fred" Maddie said "On it" Freddy said.

Maddie walked over to Diego while Freddy walked over to Luther. They both grabbed their left wrist and at the same time they flipped Diego and Luther around in the air causing them both to land hard on the ground.

The other's eyes widened when they saw it "That is how you fight" Maddie said before walking away "Impressive" Five said as she walked over to him and he put an arm around her before they walk back inside, "Idiots" Freddy said before he turned around and followed after Maddie.

Luther quickly got up before he put his hand on the cut and walked inside fast.

Vanya walked over to Diego as he got to his feet "You never know when to stop, do you?" she asked "You got enough material for your sequel yet?" Diego asked "He was my father, too" Vanya said before walking away.

Diego walked over to Grace "Mom. Let's go inside" he said before he took her inside and everyone left except for Klaus.

Klaus walked over to the ashes before he bent down "I bet you're loving this. Hmm? The team at its best. It's just like old times" he said and took a last puff of his cigarette before sticking it into the ashes.

He then got up "Best Funeral ever" he said in a sarcastically voice while walking away.

"The Golden Rule still applies, you still need to treat people the way that you wanna be treated and you seeing it less and less these days. But you can disagree with someone and still respect them. You can even hate someone, you can hate and abhor their actions they're doing. They're doing terrible things and they need to be hated. But you still need to treat them with respect. Because people have an automatic tendency to assume that if someone is disagreeing with someone they are their enemy and they're inherently bad and they should be fought"
