10 ~ I'm back! What, did you think I'd die?

A/N: I'm sorry for not updating for a while!! But here it is!! I love you all! Thanks for all the lovely comments. :)

"Nothing's happening." Regina says worriedly. "Don't tell me we traveled all that way for nothing."

"Shh." Bae says, holding her wrist. "Her heartbeat. It's getting stronger."

"Look at the dreamshade." Henry says quietly. It slowly starts to fade.

Her pale cheeks slowly start to gain their colour.

The first thing I see when my eyes decide to finally open is white. White everywhere. I blink rapidly, trying to clear everything.

Voices. That's what I hear. Talking. At first it's so distant, and then, it gets louder until I can distinguish words. Gradually, with lots of blinking and with a huge effort, the world comes back into view.

People. There's literally a million people crowded around me.

"Ruby?" Someone asks. I look down. I seem to remember the little kid for the other day.

"Hi." I smile at him. "It was... Henry, wasn't it?"

*******************

"Bl**** heck, mate." A man in a long black coat turns around, running his hands through his hair. Everyone looks sad. And... some of them look annoyed.

I don't know if you're like me, but if you've ever woken up to a million people staring at you, you'll know the feeling. It's kind of like your personal space is being invaded.

"Don't you know who we are?" The little boy asks.

"You're Henry." I say with a smile.

"We're fairytale characters. Well - they are." Henry points around to everyone. "David - Prince Charming. Mary Margaret - Snow White - Hook - Captain Killian - Neal - Baelfire... Peter Pan... and you're in Neverland."

I keep smiling at him. "OK, I believe you Henry. But what I'm doing here puzzles me. Where are my family?"

"You don't have one." The one they call Baelfire says softly. "But we can be your family."

I get out of bed slowly, feeling my muscles cramping up from lying down so often. Henry jumps up to follow me.

"No, kid." I say softly. "I just need a moment alone. Please? I want to remember you, I really do. I'm sure you're nice - all of you."

A woman with short black hair lets out something that roughly transcribes as a snort. "Most of us, dear. Not all."

I push past them all, walking down the steps shakily, holding onto the banister. The woods sway around me, and the world dips in and out. I take a few steps, rather doggedly, and find myself before the lake. So tired I can hardly think, I sink onto the sand and stare out at the waters. What is wrong with my brain? I remember nothing of this place, or these people.

*******************

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Henry launches at Pan, who steps back quickly. "Why can't she remember?! Mr. Gold?" He asks imploringly.

"I have no idea." Gold shakes his head. "Everything was done right... except..."

"Her parents." Pan says softly. "She has no identity. She doesn't know her parents."

"I'm not going through another portal and teleporting just to find them. Count me out." Regina says curtly. "Now if you'll let us all leave and go home... you can have your little Neverland all to yourself."

"NOBODY leaves this island!" Pan says, eyes flashing. "No one! Not until I get what I came for."

************************

This is bugging me. A lot. I remember nothing. I feel for those coma patients, now, that remember nobody or anything.

Resting my head on my knees, my eyes feel wet. Great. I never cry. Not hardly ever anyway. But now, I do. I can't remember anything. Who am I? I don't even know my name.

The tears drip onto the sand. My head starts hurting again. What's happened to me?

I don't look up at a noise beside me until someone appears right in front of me. I scramble backwards but he backs off a step. "Sorry. Mustn't have been thinking. The name's Peter Pan."

"I'd give you mine but I don't know it." I shrug.

"Ruby. Ruby Parker." He offers.

"Really?" I perk up slightly. "That's not a bad name."

"No." He smiles. "It isn't. Can I play something for you?"

"Sure." I don't move. He sits down in front of me and pulls out a funny looking instrument.

"That's a strange looking musical instrument." I say.

"Yes it is." He blows on it softly. The notes that come out are tantalisingly beautiful. Haunting, almost.

As I listen, a picture suddenly flashes into my mind - sitting around a campfire... beside the boy, Henry. Listening to the music.

"You want to dance?" The boy called Peter Pan asks. I can see myself back away towards the roaring fire.

"No! Not... with you..." And then, we're dancing. Something flashes, and then a different scene - us flying together. Faster than fast around the island, wind in our hair. I'm smiling in enjoyment.

The memory suddenly fades as the music stops. My vision clears back again. "Keep going!" I say excitedly. "I'm starting to remember."

"No." He says softly. "If I keep going, you're going to turn into a puppet."

"What?" I ask, perplexed. "It was helping me remember."

"Remember me yes. I don't want you turning into a lost girl just yet."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

He sighs. "Never mind. I think I know something that might help. Care for a walk?" He gets up and reaches down. "Take my hand. Hold on."

Hesitant, I take it. He pulls me up, then gives me a quick wink and closes his eyes.
