Chapter 71- Uchiha Sasuke, Friend or Foe
I do not own Naruto
Oh, and since Yuki and Naruto are together, and it's obvious Sakura supports them, I'm not going to have Sakura say she loves Naruto or anything like that... Because that would pretty much ruin the relationship I've tried to make between Sakura and Yuki.
........................................................
"There's absolutely no trace left." Kakashi muttered, frustrated. He jumped down from the roof to stand beside me and Yamato.
"The transportation jutsu... It's such a troublesome jutsu." Yamato said, looking at Kakashi. Placing his hands on the ground, Yamato took down the wood that had been acting as a cage to keep Naruto safe from Madara.
"Kakashi sensei, what he was saying..." Naruto muttered.
"It's dangerous to believe what he was saying." Yamato interrupted.
"But if it's true, Sasuke is-!" Naruto was yet again interrupted.
Kakashi pulled down his headband, covering his Sharingan. "Naruto. I know how you feel, but you must not be impatient. For now, we will keep what Madara said to ourselves. We're in the middle of reconstruction and must avoid unnecessary mayhem. Furthermore, until we check all the facts, we can't trust him. There's too much that we don't know about his claim that the higher ups in the Hidden Leaf used Itachi to slaughter the Uchiha clan. Especially you, Naruto. Do you understand?"
I walked over to Naruto, placing a hand on his shoulder as I noticed his hands tighten into a fist. "Yeah, I understand, dattebayo." He answered quietly.
Snow continued to fall, only making the room we stood in colder. My lungs burned from the cold, warning me if I didn't get dressed in something warmer I would most likely come down sick. But, as of what has just happened, I didn't find myself up to the simple task of going to grab my coat.
"I'm sure we're going to hear an ear full for what we did to the inn." I muttered, looking at the wall missing.
This seemed to make both Kakashi and Yamato pause to look and realize the damage that was done. Yamato and Kakashi sighed and sweatdropped when they realized I was indeed right.
.............................................................
"Look at what you did to my inn!" The owner was currently yelling at Yamato and Kakashi, although Kakashi wasn't really paying attention as he let Yamato handle the situation. "This is why I hate ninja!"
"I-I'm sorry. I'll make sure to get it repaired." Yamato apologized.
I looked at Kakashi, noticing him looking at Naruto, who was sitting on the roof of the inn. I sighed quietly to myself, leaning further on the building behind me. At the moment there wasn't much I could do to help Naruto, and I knew he needed some time to think. At the same time, I needed my own space to think as well. While the snow did make me cold, it did seem that my body has grown used to it and now it wasn't as cold as it was before, that or I was really starting to run a fever.
'Sasuke...' I thought, 'Can you still be saved? Or has he just buried you so far deep... No, even the most evil man can be saved. Sasuke, he still has a chance, I can't give up on him.' I shook my head, glancing at Naruto again. 'Naruto, I know you're probably not going to give up on him either.'
I blinked, sensing five familiar chakra's approaching. Although it seemed they were still a good distance away, it made me a bit proud to say that I noticed their presence so far away. "Kakashi sensei," I muttered, catching my teacher's attention. "Sakura, Lee, Akamaru, Kiba, and Sai are on their way here. I don't know why though."
Kakashi blinked, looking around, as if hoping to see them. "Huh? Where?"
I pointed to the left of him, "They should be coming from that direction."
He paused his eye wide before he seemed to give a closed eye smile. "Ah, I see. You know, your mother was able to do the same thing..."
"So I've heard." I gave a small smile.
...........................................................
It took about ten more minutes before they finally showed. Yamato and Kakashi were on the roof, trying to get Naruto to come inside. I had stayed on the ground, my arms crossed as I realized he was collecting natural chakra, wondering when exactly he had been able to go into sage mode.
"I see, so he must have learned that in the two weeks. Damn, am I losing my edge? It took me a whole year to get that down." I muttered to myself.
"Finally found you." Kiba smiled, I glanced at him.
"Ah, hey Akamaru." I smiled at the dog then looked at Kiba. "Kiba."
His eye twitched slightly. "Why do you like my dog more than me?"
"I have a list at home, I'll give it to you when I'm back." I smirked when his eye twitched more.
"Sakura, Lee, Kiba, Sai." Naruto said, standing up. I quickly noticed his eyes weren't their normal blue, but rather a yellow orange and his pupil now resembled a toad's. "What are you doing here?"
"Naruto. I need to talk to you." Sakura said.
Naruto looked at Sakura, his head tilting as he waited for her to talk. She glanced at me before looking back at Naruto. "Sasuke dosen't mean anything to me anymore. I must have been crazy to like him for so long."
My eyes narrowed as I tilted my head down, letting my bangs shadow my eyes. I clenched my fist, ignoring Naruto as he looked confused at Sakura while trying to clear things up. 'She's lying... but why? It's obvious she still loves Sasuke, just by the look in her eyes. Why would she lie and say he means nothing?'
"Why should I love a rouge ninja who's a criminal?" She asked, answering whatever question Naruto had asked.
"Who says you get to choose who you love?" I asked, my eyes glaring at Sakura. Everyone seemed to look at me shocked. "Love isn't something you get to choose, it's something that happens, Sakura."
I didn't miss the pain that sprouted in her eyes, but she pushed it away while acting angry at me. "I'm not a little child anymore. I can face reality, Yuki. Oh, and Naruto, you can forget about that promise you made to me long ago. You can stop chasing after Sasuke, okay?"
This only made me more angry. Even though deep down inside me I knew Sakura was trying to do something good, it didn't register. My teeth clenched while I glared at Sakura. "Do you really think this has been all about the promise he made to you? If so, then you're really missing a whole lot more." I sneered before turning around and walking away. My body shaking from all the emotions that had been happening today.
"Y-Yuki..." Sakura muttered, only to be ignored by me as I walked past the inn.
At the moment my most recent emotion was anger, raw hungry anger. I needed some alone time because it was only a matter of time before I either punched something, or started crying out of frustration. I also knew Naruto knew she was lying, and I didn't want to see his face when he finally said something to her.
My body stopped after reaching the edge of the village, where no more buildings stood. Slowly I leaned to my side, letting the building catch me before I could fall. The freezing stone seemed to cool me off, further telling me that it wasn't that I had gotten used to the cold, but I was indeed running a fever now.
"Did she really think..." I muttered, staring at my breath that hovered in the air. "Did she really think we would stop going after Sasuke? Besides, she could have at least come up with a better lie, idiot."
"Yuki?" I blinked looking up from the snow covered ground.
The red hair was the first give away from who it was, plus the two beside him. I gave a small smile, the most I could manage at the moment. "Ah, Gaara." I looked at the other two siblings. "Temari, Kankaro. I guess I forgot you would probably be here, since you're Kazekage and the Kage just had a meeting..."
Gaara stared at me, before walking closer a look of concern on his face. "Are you feeling okay, Yuki?"
I blinked, "Huh?" He placed his hand on my forehead, which I found quite odd as I didn't really take Gaara as the one to care this much.
"You have a fever..." He muttered, looking around. "Where's Naruto? I did want to see him anyway, you as well. But it would be better if what I said was with you both, and I don't want you alone since you're sick."
Temari smirked, nudging Kankaro, who seemed to smirk as well as they looked at us two. Gaara didn't pay any attention to them as he helped me straighten from the building I was leaning on, only now had I realized how much more fatigued I felt. After a moment, I made myself stand up by myself. Gaara looked at me, as if ready for me to fall.
"I'm fine, thank you, Gaara." I gave a small smile. My smile seemed to fall when I realized Sakura, Kiba, Akamaru, and Lee's chakra were leaving, but Sai's remained. "Naruto-kun's this way."
........................................................
Upon seeing Naruto and the others I quickened my step, despite feeling sick. It only pushed me more when I realized how troubled Naruto looked, as well as Sai, who I had guessed had just tole Naruto something. Naruto looked over to see me leading Gaara, Temari, and Kankaro towards him.
"Yuki-chan?" He muttered.
"Look who I found." I forced a grin while pointing to the Kazekage. "He said he had something to tell us."
That gained the attention of everyone, as we all looked over to Gaara. Temari was the first to speak. "We will tell you everything that happened at the Five Kage summit."
....................................................................
"I see." Yamato muttered, his arms crossed. "Who would have thought the meeting would have become so intense. I guess with Danzo..."
I stared at Kakashi, noticing my sensei sigh. "I'm not too eager about becoming the Hokage. And even if the situation requires me to accept... I'll have to return to Konoha first and hear about what others say."
"Madara has declared war on us!" Temari growled. "There's no time to deliberate."
"I'm sure everyone will approve." Yamato shrugged.
"Except Naruto, since he wants to be Hokage now..." I muttered, glancing over at Naruto hoping to at least get a smile out of him. My smirk fell off as I noticed Naruto looking down at the ground, a extremely troubled look on his face. I inched a little closer to him, letting my shoulder nudge his softly.
I knew what Naruto was feeling, and it was because of Sasuke. The only difference was that I wasn't going to let the pain that ached in me show, as I needed to be strong for Naruto right now.
"Naruto, this is a battle to protect the eight-tails and the nine-tails. Namely you. And it's also for the ninja world. As the Kazekage, I would give my life to protect you. If Sasuke Uchiha confronts the Allied Shinobi Forces as a member of the Akatsuki, I will show no mercy." Gaara said, looking at Naruto.
I bit the inside of my cheek, still trying to keep the act going. "Naruto, Sasuke dosen't care about you. All he wants is darkness." My eyes widened as Gaara continued to speak. "Naruto, you told me, 'I'm going to become Hokage.' I have become the Kazekage." He crossed the few steps to walk over to Naruto and I, and he placed his hand on Naruto's shoulder. "If you are prepared to bear the burden of being a Kage, then do what is right as Sasuke's friend."
Naruto's eyes met Gaara's for a moment before shutting his eyes shut and tilting his head down to the ground. Slowly his arm raised, then he pushed Gaara's hand away. Gaara looked a little shocked, but also slightly pained at the small action Naruto had done.
I glanced at Naruto, noticing his eyes glazing over. Concern filled me, this may be too much for Naruto to really handle. Gaara looked at me, "Yuki, do you think you could help-"
"Gaara." My voice only came off as a whisper, "I... I really can't. Because, even now I still believe Sasuke can be saved. And I-I know there still has to be a part of him that does care. It's just..." I stopped myself, realizing I was about to say something that shouldn't be said.
'If you just killed the last piece of family you had, because you believed he was the true reason for your family's death. But then, after you killed him yourself, don't you think you would be doing what Sasuke is doing?' I thought, but kept it to myself.
Gaara's shoulder's seemed to drop slightly, his eyes closing for a moment before he stopped looking at Naruto and I.
"We've said all we have come to say." Temari said. "Let's go, Gaara." Then she turned to look at Kakashi. "We will return to our village. Kakashi Hatake... With the understanding that you will be Hokage, the sand will take action. As allied nations, I pray there will be no conflicting intel between us."
"Understood." Kakashi answered.
And with that, the three siblings turned to start walking away from us. Only to stop when Gaara paused. "I consider you two my friends." Naruto's eyes widened as he looked up at Gaara's back. "In the past, 'Friend' was merely a word to me. Nothing more, nothing less. But after meeting you and Yuki, it made me realize that the meaning of that word is what's important. What does it mean?" He turned his head to look back at us. "Can you do that for Sasuke? Think hard about that." Then, turning back to his siblings he muttered, "Let's go."
I looked from the white ground to Naruto. My concern grew when I noticed how unwell he was looking. I took a step closer, so I was standing in front of him. "Naruto-kun?" I muttered, placing my hands on his shoulders. Once again, his eyes seemed glazed over and dark circles were visible under his eyes. I ignored Yamato, Kakashi, and Sai as they talked behind Naruto.
I took notice how clammy he was feeling. "Yuki, you're coming with me and Sai." Kakashi said.
"Okay." I muttered, looking at Naruto. "Naruto-kun, are you okay?"
His eyes slowly looked at me, and it was around then that he began to hyperventilate. "Y...Yuki..." Then, his body completely gave out. My eyes widened as I quickly caught him before he hit the ground.
"Naruto!" I shouted, supporting his body weight as I tried to keep him from falling to the ground. "Damn it!" I growled, "I should have done something earlier..."
Kakashi, Sai, and Yamato quickly surrounded me. "He's hyperventilating." Yamato said.
"Kakashi sensei, help me get him inside!" I ordered.
Kakashi nodded, picking up Naruto and carrying him inside the inn. "Naruto-kun, I need you to breath steady. It's okay." I tried to sooth as I walked beside Kakashi while bringing Naruto inside. "Forgive me.." I muttered before hitting a nerve at the back of his neck.
"Why did you do that?" Kakashi asked.
"That will help him calm down, since he isn't awake anymore. I'm guessing with everything happening all at once he had a panic attack, right now it's best if he stayed and rested. If I had more training with medical issues like Sakura, then I could have done more..." I muttered, watching as Kakashi placed Naruto down on the ground. I placed a pillow under his head and pulled a blanket over him. "Kakashi sensei, since I'm going with you and Sai, Yamato will stay here with Naruto, right?"
Kakashi nodded, "Yes, I'm guessing you didn't hear what we were talking about, and you probably have no idea what we are doing, right?"
I nodded, "Sadly, you're correct. So if you wouldn't mind filling me in?" He seemed amused, and nodded. I looked over at Yamato, who had followed us in the room. "When he wakes up, try to make him get some more rest, and if he starts having another panic attack, either try to calm him down."
Yamato nodded, "Don't worry, Yuki. Naruto will be fine."
I paused, then nodded and turned to leave. "Take care of him for me."
.................................................................
"I see." I whispered, running along side Kakashi and Sai's clone. "I should have known she was going to do something stupid with how she was acting. I don't think she can do it."
Kakashi looked over at me, "Do you think she is weak?"
"That's not it. I know Sakura is strong now, way stronger than when we were Genin, but even then... Not only does she still love Sasuke, but I'm pretty sure even she hasn't gotten as strong as Sasuke." I answered. By now we were beyond the snow covered land, but my body was still taking the effects from being in it for so long without proper protection. My lungs burned and my speed was slowed slightly, but I kept any attempt of coughing in. If Kakashi knew I was sick, he would probably send me back. If Sakura was going to deal with Sasuke, I was going to be there.
Even then, I didn't miss the glance from Sai's clone. However, if he did or did not notice anything, he didn't say anything. Instead he looked at Kakashi, "She got to us. Yuki, I'm trusting that you can find them, please hurry!"
Then the clone turned to ink, leaving Kakashi and I running. "Yuki, can you sense them?" Kakashi asked.
I nodded, "Yeah, and Sakura has already left them." I clenched my teeth as I forced myself to move faster, ignoring the burning in my lungs as I did so.
Even now, I wasn't going my normal speed, if anything I was barley faster than Kakashi. Maybe I don't like the snow as much as I thought I did. "I'm sorry for making you hold back so much, Yuki. I know you want to rush into the fight, but it'sbetter if we stick together." Kakashi said.
I blinked, slightly relieved that Kakashi had not noticed that I wasn't holding back, but rather pausing myself as I was sick. I cleared my throat. "It's fine, Kakashi sensei. I know you're right though, it wouldn't be good if I went in alone, just like Sakura."
He sighed, "At least I taught one of my students right."
My eye twitched, 'If only he knew the only reason I was still here with him was because I was sick...'
I paused slightly when I noticed four body's laying on the ground. "Kakashi sensei." I muttered.
He nodded, "Yeah, let's get them out of the way." I nodded and walked over to Akamaru first.
Kakashi sighed, "Why are you so obsessed with that dog?"
"If Naruto-kun dosen't become Hokage, Akamaru is going to take his place. He's also my part time dog." I answered, picking up the white dog and carefully walking him over to under a tree.
When I turned around I noticed Kakashi's only visible eye twitching. "I wonder about the mental health of my students sometimes, you included, Yuki."
I raised an eyebrow, "I think the only one whos mental health you need to worry about is Sasuke's. And maybe Naruto's, but mainly Sasuke's."
He shook his head and went back to moving the boy's to where I had placed Akamaru. "Lady Tsunade sure did teach Sakura well."
I nodded, "I'm thinking about getting a little more training from Tsunade."
"It wouldn't hurt, but I have a feeling you could even get the training from Sakura now." Kakashi said, placing Lee down before turning to me. "Where is Sakura now?"
I closed my eyes as a way to help concentrate. "She's that way," I pointed north. "And Sasuke's with her, along with another person. We should hurry."
.............................................
"Shit!" I cursed, realizing Sasuke's chakra spike. Forgetting about being sick, my body sprung into action as I found myself moving at my normal speed, completely passing up Kakashi.
"Yuki!" He shouted warningly, I ignored him.
Sasuke was just in sight, about to hit Sakura with the Chidori. I raised my arm, forming crystal just in front of Sakura to shield her. Her eyes were wide as the crystal formed just as his hand he was about to hit her. Just seeing him about to his Sakura enraged me, along with bringing back the sharp painful memory of him doing to same to me three years ago.
Sasuke stopped, his head turning to me. "Ah, I see Yuki is here."
I glared at the Uchiha, noticing the blood from his left eye. To add to the giant piece of the bridge missing, it was safe to assume he finished off Danzo. "Sasuke, you really intended to kill Sakura." I growled. I looked from Sakura to the red head on the ground.
Kakashi, finally making it jumped over to stand beside me. I released the crystal, letting it fall to the ground in shinning pieces before dissolving back into air. Kakashi sighed and paused to look at me almost disapprovingly, but dismissed it as he knew if I hadn't rushed out Sakura could be dead right now. Instead he turned to look at Sakura, "You tried to kill Sasuke by yourself, didn't you?"
Sasuke seemed to smile, but not in a way that I had ever seen him. "It's just one after another."
Kakashi ignored Sasuke, as he continued to talk to Sakura. "You don't have to shoulder such a heavy burden by yourself. I was the leader of Team 7. It was my cowardice that split all of you up."
I glanced at Sakura then at Kakashi. "Sakura," He continued. "I said something irresponsible to you in an effort to put you at ease. I must have been trying to convince myself of that too. I'm sorry I'm such a careless sensei."
"Kakashi sensei." I muttered, clenching my fist.
"Sasuke," Kakashi said, looking from the ground to Sasuke, who watched us with only hatred in his eyes. "I don't like to repeat myself. But I'll say this once more. Do not become possessed by vengeance!"
My eyes widened when Sasuke started to laugh, his head tilted back as if what Kakashi just said was the funniest thing he had ever heard. Then, as quickly as he had started laughing, he stopped to look at us expressionless. "Itachi... My father... My mother... My entire clan! Bring them all here! Do that and I'll quit right now!"
"I don't want to kill you." Kakashi said.
"You talk like you could kill me at any time!" Sasuke scoffed. His eyes grew wide into an insane look while staring at Kakashi. "Stop acting like you're still my sensei. I'm itching to kill you... Kakashi."
"At least show some respect." I growled. "Look, I get it. I understand-"
He glanced at me, "Yuki... Stop acting like you even understand how I feel. Your clan's death and m clan's death were completely different!"
'Even though I don't want to...' I thought. "Sasuke, I know you're better than this."
Slowly his eyes were narrowing down on me. "Oh? I don't think you know me at all, Yuki. It's not just Kakashi I'm itching to kill, but it's you as well. After all, I never really did get to fight you."
"I don't want to fight you, Sasuke." I shook my head. "But if you're going to make me, then I will have no choice."
"Yuki, I'll handle Sasuke." Kakashi interrupted. "Sakura... Heal that girl to the point that she can speak."
"Kakashi sensei." I clenched my fist. "I... I need to do something. Just as you said, it's not just your burden to shoulder."
"What are you trying to say, Yuki?" Kakashi asked.
"Either let me fight, or I'll stop you from fighting at all." I said. Kakashi took notice of the pieces of crystal forming around the air, which was only a fact that I was just going to fight with or without him.
Sasuke's head tilted to the side, a menacingly grin on his face. "Yuki, I can't wait to kill you."
"Sorry, Sasuke." I answered. "But nobody's going to be dying. If anything, I'm dragging your ass back to Konoha."
...................................................................
End of Chapter 71! So in the next chapter I will be having Yuki fight Sasuke, in case you couldn't tell. Any predictions on how that's going to go?
And I am sorry for the late upload, but that was why I tried to make this chapter a little longer. I just hope it was good... Anyway, just a little heads up that this story will end right when Naruto leaves before the war to hide him out, and that is where I'll pick up on the part two of this.
This is not edited.
