Chapter 59- Zero and Ichiru's Past -Part 3-
I do not own Naruto
3rd Person POV
..................................................................................................................
Two children waited outside the white building. The slightly taller boy was clenching his fist, a strange look of determination on his face while the female held her hands together while staring at the automatic doors. When the automatic doors opened both children snapped back to attention.
A woman with freshly cut white hair sat in a wheelchair, a blonde man walked behind her, wheeling the chair out of the hospital. Once he was outside a nurse in a white uniform helped him stand up the woman before taking the wheelchair. The two children ran over to the two adults.
"Mom!" Ichiru exclaimed, quickly noticing the woman jump slightly. "S-Sorry."
A soft smile claimed her lips. "It's okay, that's you Ichiru, right?"
"Yeah..." Ichiru trailed off, looking at the white bandages around here eyes.
"Mom," Zero muttered walking up to the woman and wrapping her arms around the woman's waist.
Kiki moved her hands around before they found the top of Zero's head. "Hey Zero, how's my little girl?" Her voice was as kind and gental as ever.
"F-Fine..." Zero whispered.
Ren smiled slightly, "Come on guys, lets go home." He wrapped his arms around Kiki's shoulders and helped move her in the right direction. When he noticed her stumble a little bit he slowed down his pace, the two children following his example.
"Aren't you two supposed to be in school?" Kiki asked.
"Dad said I could have to day off so I can get you from the hospital." Ichiru said, walking closer to Kiki.
Kiki nodded her head slightly, "And, Zero?"
"I'm not going anymore." Zero said.
Kiki's footsteps paused before she moved her hand out again, searching for Zero. Seeing this, Zero quickly moved closer to her mother, allowing her to place her hand on her head. "Why not, sweetie?"
Zero paused, as if thinking up of a answer. "I don't have a wish to be a ninja, it dosen't seem like my kind of thing." She lied, ignoring the look she received from Ichiru and Ren.
"I see..." Kiki whispered, "Ren, what was it you said you needed to talk about?"
Thankful for the change in topic, Zero walked along Ichiru before looking up at her father. "Ah, yes. It's about my sister."
Ichiru's attention snapped over to Ren, as well as the attention of the other two females. "Oh, did you fine her?" Kiki asked.
"I guess you could say that." The pain in Ren's voice was clear to everyone. "Apparently she married some guy in the Okami clan, and they had a kid."
"The Okami clan..." Kiki whispered. "I think I've heard about them, their a clan in Konoha, not as big as the Uchiha, but their very powerful."
"Well, the clan has been massacred." Ren muttered, coming to a stop as well as Kiki and their two children.
"Ren... I'm so sorry." Kiki said, placing her hand on top of his.
"My sister and her husband were part of the people that died." Ren said.
"And, what about their kid?" Ichiru surprised everyone by speaking next.
"She didn't die. Apparently she was the only one that wasn't killed." Ren reached his other hand in his pocket, pulling out a folded up picture. He handed the picture over to Ichiru and Zero. "Her name is Yuki, I was surprised to learn she looks almost exactly like my sister."
"Can you describe her?" Kiki muttered, her cheeks turning pink from embarrassment.
Before Ren could say anything, Ichiru spoke up. "She has blonde hair, I don't know what color eyes she has though because their closed. I think she is short though." Ichiru paused. "She's really pretty."
Ren smiled as well as Kiki. "I bet she is." Kiki said.
.......................................................................................................
"When are you going to get Yuki?" Ichiru asked as he sat next to Kiki at the kitchen table.
Ren raised an eyebrow as he set the plate of food at the table, amusement clear on his face. "I sent a letter to the Hokage, and explained the situation here. I'm hoping in about a month or two to go and get Yuki. Why are you so concerned?"
Ichiru looked down, his face turning red. "No reason."
Zero narrowed her eyes at Ichiru, she was occupying the other seat next to Kiki, much to Ren's annoyance. "I don't believe you, why are you suddenly so obsessed with Yuki? You haven't even met her!"
Beside them Kiki smirked, while she was unable to see the two children bickering, she could imagine it clearly. "Come on, guys. Let's just eat. Ren, what did you make?"
Ren paused, as if remembering Kiki was now blind before answering. "Just a bowel of pork ramen."
"Ah, Ichiru's favorite tonight." Kiki smiled, followed by Ichiru's brilliant grin and Zero's frown.
Ren stared at Ichiru, a happy feeling settling in him. Despite Kiki's tragic event, it seemed as though it snapped something in Ichiru. While he still had moments where he would go back to his old self, he tended to be more happy and showed plenty of emotions.
"Dad, are you going on your mission tomorrow?" Zero asked, looking up from her untouched bowl of ramen.
"I talked with the Tsuchikage, he said I can take a break from missions for a week." Ren answered.
Zero nodded then looked over at Ichiru. "So, tomorrow you're going back to school?"
Ichiru looked at Zero and nodded slightly. "Yeah, I'm going to try to graduate a year early. Deidara thinks if I can graduate a year early maybe the Tsuchikage will allow me to train with him and Deidara."
Kiki's head snapped in Ichiru's direction. "You were thinking of graduating a year early?"
"Um, y-yeah. I did want to stay in the same class as Zero, but since she won't be going to school anymore then I figured I would just try to graduate a year early." Ichiru muttered, looking down at his bowl.
A smile lit of Kiki's face. "That's so great, Ichiru!"

One Year Later
......................................................................................................................
Ichiru walked back to his home, a small smile on his face. Deidara walked next to him a confident smirk on his face. Both boys now wore a new headband around their foreheads.
"I hope we get put on the same team, hmm!" Deidara grinned.
Ichiru nodded, "Yeah, that would be nice, but I think Zero would be a little upset."
Deidara paused, "Oh yeah, she had wanted to be on the same team as us, un. But..."
"But when Dad died all hope of her ever returning to the ninja world vanished." Ichiru finished, gripping the sword his father had used.
"Yeah... How's your mom doing?" Deidara asked.
"Still grieving, I think Zero's getting frustrated." Ichiru muttered. "I told you who did it, or at least who they thought did it, right?"
Deidara nodded, "Yeah, you told me that his eyes were turned black, just like your mom's eyes. But instead of him just going blind, they killed him."
Ichiru nodded, "Yeah, it was the same guy. Anyway, I better head home. I'll see you tomorrow for the ceremony!"
Deidara offered a smile, "Yeah, see you then, un!"
Ichiru walked towards his house, a small smile on his face as he placed his hand on his forehead, feeling the cool metal. His black hair had grown out, giving him a messy look as he didn't bother to brush it often. If his mother still had her eyes, she would have told him to get it cut by now. Now though, if was only Zero who bickered to him about his growing hair.
He snapped out of his thoughts when his house came into view, a grin forming on his face as he prepared to make sure everyone was happy. Walking up the porch steps he opened the door. Light flooded the darkened house, letting him see two white haired females sitting on the sofa. The older female's hair had been pulled in a tight ponytail, letting her medium length hair fall down her back. Her black eyes stared into space as she chatted quietly with the younger female next to her. The younger of the two had her hair down, letting her long hair fall down her back. Her red eyes stared at her mother as she too talked to her.
"I'm home." Ichiru smiled, walking in the house after shutting the door.
"Welcome home, Ichiru." His mother's soft voice greeted.
"Guess who graduated today!" He grinned, placing his hands on his hips and puffing out his chest.
Zero rolled her eyes, "I don't know, maybe the dobe who has a headband around his forehead."
Kiki playfully slapped Zero's arm. "Zero, don't call Ichiru that. I'm so proud of you, Ichiru. I know Zero is too, she just won't admit it."
Ichiru chuckled lightly while walking over to the two women on the sofa. "That means I'll be going on missions, starting next week."
This seemed to pull a worried frown on both women. Ichiru quickly noticed and waved his hands. "Don't worry though! I'll probably be on the same team as Deidara, and I have Dad's sword. He did teach me how to use it really well."
Kiki slowly searched for Ichiru, then placed her hand on his head. "Ichiru, do me a favor."
He looked up at his mother, waiting for her to speak. A small smile formed on her lips. "Act your age. You may be a ninja now, but you're still ten years old. When you're here act like a ten year old. Of course, when you're on a mission I don't expect you to act like that."
"So, when I'm with you, act like I'm a kid." Ichiru muttered.
She nodded, "Yes, when you're with me."
He laughed, looking at Zero who was smiling at him. "Sure thing, Mom."
.......................................................................................................
Fire licked at buildings, the screams of civilians filled the air. Black smoke hindered the seight of those around as ninja's scattered the village, looking for the intruders. Two boys were seen together, their eyes wide as they were just returning from a mission.
"What the hell is happening, hn!" Deidara shouted, looking over at Ichiru.
Ichiru's eyes went in the direction of his home. "Come on, Deidara!"
Before the blonde could say anything, Ichiru took off. His training had made him fast, and as Deidara only trained with explosives he wasn't quite as fast yet. Ichiru pulled the long sword from his face as he made his way to his house.
It had been two months since he had graduated, and he had just got back from his first mission outside the village. Who knew that once he returned, his village would be attacked. He moved past the screaming civilians and attacking ninjas, his only thoughts on two people.
He could hear the annoyance cries of Deidara, his team mate, but at the moment nothing else mattered but Zero and Kiki. He had already lost his father, he was determined not to lose his sister and mother.
Upon arriving at the house his eyes narrowed on the fact that the door was busted down. His heard hammered in his chest as he approached the house. His body quivered as he entered the dark house, looking for anyone.
"Zero? Mom?" Ichiru yelled looking around the house.
Silence answered him, which only put him more on edge. It was too quiet in the house. He spun on his feet when he heard a small tap behind him. His eyes widened when he saw a tall figure with blood red hair.
The man's voice chuckled. "Lookie here, another bug to crush."
Ichiru's body froze, his eyes wide as he noticed the slumped over figure behind the man. His eyes widened as he lost the grip on his sword, sending it to the ground. Then, the man lunged. Ichiru was frozen, unable to dodge whatever jutsu the man was going to use.
A flash of white sent Ichiru to the ground, followed by a girlish scream. Ichiru's eyes snapped over to whoever pushed him out of the way. His heart stopped for a moment. Zero stepped back, clutching her right eye tears clouding her other eye.
"I-Ichiru, are you okay?!" She asked, not noticing the man walking towards her again.
Ichiru nodded and shoved her out of the way while grabbing his sword. He thrusted the sword up, the man's body stopped. Crimson liquid dripped down the blade before the man fell over, the sword still in his heart.
Ichiru ignored the man for now, just like he ignored the horrible feeling he recieved from taking a man's life, as he looked at Zero. "Are you okay? Zero?"
"H-He did something to my eye." She cried, clutching her eye.
Ichiru stood up shakily, his body on defence when he noticed another figure at the door. He relaxed slightly when he noticed the blonde hair. "Deidara, help me. I need to get Zero to the hospital."
Deidara's eyes paused on the figure on the other side of the room. His eyes going to Ichiru, they both knew Kiki was already gone. Right now, their priority was getting Zero to the hospital, and hopefully she would be treated immediately. Deidara placed his arm around Zero's shoulders as he guided her out of the house.
Ichiru paused to look at his dead mother, then walked towards the door. He paused to yank the sword out of the man's chest, then he continued walking. The fresh blood dripped off the sword to the ground as Ichiru walked towards Deidara and Zero.
"Zero, let me see your eye." Ichiru muttered, noticing the weird look from Deidara but chose to ignore it.
"What?" Zero muttered.
"Let me see your eye." Ichiru repeated.
Slowly, Zero uncovered her injured eye and opened it. Ichiru's heart dropped when he saw her eye. No longer was it red, like her left eye was, but now it was black. Deidara noticed as well, his own eyes widening.

End of Chapter 59! I've decided this will be the end, for now, of Zero and Ichiru's past. There will probably be more later on. I know the chapter jumped around a bit, but I couldn't think of any other way to do it. So starting next chapter I will be back at the present storyline, which will probably cause some tears...
This chapter is not edited.
