Mai's POV

Minato and I sat next to each other while we waited for our teacher to return. I looked at him, a pout present on my face. "Oh, come on, Mina-kun. It wouldn't hurt"

He looked at me, shaking his head. "We are not doing it, I like my perfect attendance. It's bad enough you almost got my in trouble the other day for making me steal some guy's clothes from the bath house."

I crossed my arms, the pout still present on my face. "You're not only a wimp, but a goody goody. And here I thought by now I would have changed you from a wimpy kid to a bad ass." I sighed.

Our conversation was interrupted by the class bullies picking on Kushina again. "Your hair is red like a tomato!"

"Yeah! You're a tomato, Tomato!"

"Nobody likes Tomatos!"

I blinked, "I like tomatos...."

Minato sighed next to me, somewhat used to my side comments. My eyes wondered around the room for the boy that normally stood up for Kushina, where was Teno? My concern grew when one of the boys pulled on her red hair.

Minato looked at her concerned as well, which made sense to me since he admitted to me a while ago he liked Kushina.

I nudged him, "Hey, maybe now's your chance to stop being a wimp and help out your- nevermind." A sigh escaped me when I saw Kushina grab onto one of the boy's arm's and swing him around, knocking down all of the other boys.

When she saw Minato looking she snapped at him, "What?!"

Minato, being the wimp he was, quickly looked away scared. My eye twitched at him, but a smirk formed when he glanced back at her, a small smile on his face before looking strait again.

"You know, you just blew a chance, Mina-kun." I muttered.

He goraned, "Shut up, Mai-chan."

"Aw, Kushina, you already beat up the boys." Minato and I looked back to see Teno walk in, looking down at the boys who were picking on her.

She huffed, her arms crossed. "I know you told me not to, but they were giving me no choice, dattebane!" Her face grew red at the end of her sentence.

"Ne, Mina-kun, I think she has a fever. Quick, bring her to the nurse, it will show her you care!" I ordered, tugging on his white jacket.

"Mai-chan, she dosen't have a fever." Minato sweatdropped.

I narrowed my eyes, "How do you know, you're not a doctor."

"You're not one either." He stated with a sigh.

"Shut up Mina-kun." I pouted again. "You suck, won't let me skip class, won't participate in my pranks, and now you're saying you know more medical things than I do. Just you wait, I'll go and train under a great medical ninja soon,then you can say anything then."

"What are you mumbling about now, Mai-chan?" Minato asked, as if he didn't hear anything from me.

"Oh, just shut up Mr. Future Hokage." I crossed my arms, Minato responded with a laugh.

My head snapped in both directions, making sure everything was clear. A bucket of orange paint was set firmly in my hands. A grin formed on my face as I made my way to the Hokage's office. My grin quickly dropped when I ran into two people.

Falling backwards I dropped the bucket of paint, making me pout as the orange paint flew everywhere. I looked up to yell at whoever it was when I noticed it was Kushina and Teno. Kushina had puffed out her cheeks as the orange paint had gotten all over us. Teno, whom was beside Kushina, was looking at me wide eyed as his face was dusted with red.

"Damn, sorry I didn't see you guys. The paint wasn't ment for you two." I sighed.

"Awe man, it got all over my clothes, dattebane!" Kushina complained before grinning at me. "It's okay though!"

I grinned back at her. Teno grabbed onto Kushina's hand and dragged her off. "Come on, Kushina, it's getting late."

"W-Wait, Teno-kun!" She objected, but he didn't listen to her as he continued to drag her.

I looked down at me clothes as well. My dark purple kimono was splattered with orange paint, along with my blue ninja sandals. I shrugged, "I guess I won't be able to prank Hokage-sama today. I guess I'll just have to drag Mina-kun into something tomorrow."

"Mina-kun! Did you hear him, he said we're gonna be on the same team!" I shouted, jumping on Minato's back.

Minato laughed at me while supporting my legs, used to me randomly jumping on his back. "Yes, I did hear him, Mai-chan. Who do you think our sensei is going to be?"

"I don't know, I just hope it's not a pervert." I said, my eyes looking up to look at my headband on my forehead. While I was proud to be a Konoha ninja, I still wished it was the Kessho village's headband on my forehead. "By the way, who was the other guy he said was on our team?" I asked.

Minato shrugged, "I don't know, I think his name was Akito."

Minato walked to the meeting area while I rode on his back. "You know, for a guy so wimpy, you're pretty strong."

"I'm not wimpy. Is that your favorite thing to say or something?" Minato asked.

"No, I'm just saying your appearance is wimpy." I answered, "I wouldn't be surprised if Kushina thought the same thing."

He paused, "Do you think Kushina thinks that?"

I blinked, looking over at his face to see a troubled look. A soft smile formed as I poked his cheek. "Nah, you just need to find a excuse to pick her up. I'm sure that will prove to her that you're not wimpy. Also, tell her the things you like about her, like her hair. You did tell me you really like her hair."

A soft smile formed on his face, which turned into a grin as he looked at me. "Yeah! Her hair is the most beautiful I've ever seen. And-"

"Woah now, I don't wanna hear about what you love about her." I interrupted and i gripped his shoulder. "Now, run! You're taking too long!" He chuckled at me before taking off into a sprint. To my surprise, he ran faster than I thought he could.

 I blinked when I saw a familiar white haired man standing with his arms crossed over his chest. Gripping onto Minato's shoulder's tighter, I flied over him before taking off in a full sprint, beating Minato to the man. I narrowed my eyes as I tried to remember where I had seen him before.

He looked down from writing to see Minato and I. A grin formed onto his face, "Oh, are you two my students?"

We nodded, looking around for the other student, whom had not made his appearance yet. Looking back at our teacher I narrowed my eyes again, my hands going to my hips.

He caught my look and sweatdropped. "What are you doing?"

"I've seen you somewhere, but I just can't remember where I've seen you." I answered.

Minato sighed, "You might just wasn't to ignore her for a little bit, sensei, she's weird at first-"

"You don't remember me?!" He cried. "How could you not remember a face as handsome as mine? A person as great as I am? How could you have forgotten me, Mai?!"

Minato blinked, "Wait, you know her?"

"Of course I do! I was one of the people that first greeted her to Konoha when she arrived!" He shouted.

I put a fist in my hand, "Oh yeah, you're, um..." I trailed off trying to remember his name.

His eye twitched, "Jiraiya!"

I grinned, "Yeah, Jiraiya!"

"And here I thought I wanted Mai to be in my team because she was said to be a good student. If she can't even remember my name how can I trust that she will be a good student?" He huffed.

My eye twitched before I sent a fist crashing to his face, knocking him back a couple of feet. "What did you just say, baka?!"

His eyes widened as well as Minato's. "T-That was just raw strength..." Jiraiya mumbled, rubbing his red cheek.

"M-Mai-chan, I didn't know you were actually strong! I thought you just liked to knock me down by calling my wimpy and not having any strength to back you up!" Minato grinned, only making my eye twitch even more.

"What did you just say, Mina-kun?" I glared.

He shook his head and hands, sweat dripping down the poor blonde. "No, no! It was a compliment!"

I narrowed my eyes, "Was it?"

He nodded, "Y-Yes!" After a moment of staring at him, I nodded to myself.

My attention was brought to someone else as I saw a figure walking towards us. A grin formed on my face when I realized it was our other team member. "Yosh! Everyone's here, can we start, Jiraiya sensei?" I asked.

He grinned at us, "Okay! First let's introduce ourselves! I'll go first. My name is Jiraiya, my hobbies include doing research.." He paused to let out a girlish giggle. "I like writing my books, as I am a famous author. My dislikes include being called a pervert, and being caught when I'm doing my research. And my dream for the future, that dosen't matter. Now, you!" He pointed at Minato.

Minato's eyes widened before he smiled a closed eye smile. "I'm Minato Namikaze, my hobbies include training and hanging out with Mai-chan. I like-"

I cut him off, "A certain red-head."

He smacked me in the back of my head before continuing. "My dislikes are when Mai-chan drags me into things that aren't necessary. And my dream for the future is to become the Hokage."

Jiraiya smiled then pointed to me. "You're next."

I grinned at him, "I'm Mai Suishou! My hobbies include pranking the old man, and training. I like sushi and dragging Mina-kun into pranks with me. My dislikes are when people doubt my medical knowledge-" I paused to shoot a look at Minato, who only sighed. "And when villages start up unnecessary wars." This caused both Minato and Jiraiya to look at me with widened eyes. "And my dream for the future is to stop any more wars from happening!"

Jiraiya smiled at me before turning to the last person, "You're next."

"I'm Akito Uchiha, my hobbies include training. What I like is nothing of your concern, as well are my dislikes-" I cutoff the black-haired male.

"Jeeze, you're a grumpy guy, aren't you." I mumbled.

His eye twitch, "And my dream for the future is to become a legend."

I raised an eyebrow, "Huh? A legend? So... you want to become something like a myth?"

A anime vein formed on his head, "No! What I meant was to become a great ninja to where stories are told about me all over!"

I huffed, "Why didn't you just say that then, stupid Uchiha"

Jiraiya only laughed at us, "Good, now tomorrow meet at the training grounds at ten O'clock sharp, make sure you don't eat breakfast."

I snorted, "Even if you are my sense, I'm not gonna listen if you tell me not to ear breakfast. If I'm hungry, I'll eat if I want to."

Jiraiya sweatdropped, "Mai... Just..." He sighed shaking is head as he turned to walk off. "I'll see you three tomorrow."

Jiraiya stood in front of us with a grin on his face. "So, the main object of this test, is to get the bells from me, simple."

"But there is only two bells." Akito muttered, his black Uchiha eyes narrowing.

Jiraiya grinned, "Exactly, that way there is one person tied to that stump." He pointed over to the three stumps behind us. "And they won't be having lunch."

Minato's and Akito's stumach's growled, I grinned. "I'll be okay with that! I ate a big breakfast!" I looked at Minato, my grin turning into a taunting one. "I bet you didn't listen to me, did you Mina-kun? Hmm, Mr. Goody Goody?"

He groaned, "Why am I still friends with you?"

"Because, you love me despite my teasing." I smiled, which only made him sigh.

"Oh, and before I forget, the person without a bell must return to the academy." Jiraiya smiled.

Our eyes widened, I looked at both of my team mates. 'He would really return one of us to the academy? But, aren't we supposed to be in a three man squad? That would make no sense, if two of us got the bells, and the person without the bell returned to t he academy it would be a two-man squad. There's something else at play here.'

"Ready," My body tensed as I got prepared to hide. "Begin!"

Minato and I jumped in the same direction to hide in the trees. Luckily we were next to each other as I needed to get him to work with me. "Mina-kun,"I whispered.

He glanced at me, "What?"

"Am I the only one that finds this test a little weird?" I asked, he shook his head.

"No, I find it strange too. I just can't figure out what it is." He whispered.

"Fire style: Fireball jutsu!" We looked over to see Akito shoot a ball of fire at Jiraiya.

 Jiraiya only sighed and jumped out of the way, closer to us. Sharing a glance at Minato we nodded and grinned.

Minato pulled out a kunai, which I noticed had one of his seals on it. While Jiraiya's attention was on Akito, I jumped down from the tree and lunged at him. A grin formed its way onto my face as I was bout to make contact, but Jiraiya quickly turned around and caught my fist.

He raised an eyebrow, "You weren't really expecting to land a hit on my, were you?"

When he pushed me back, Minato threw his kunai at Jiraiya, who just caught the kunai. A smirk formed on both Minato and my faces. I formed a handsign, "Crystal Release: Crystal needles!"

Jiraiya's eyes widened as light pink crystal formed from the ground, holding him where he was. Minato released his seal on his kunai, appearing in front of Jiraiya he quickly reached down and made a grab for the bells.

When Jiraiya turned into a log a groan escaped me. I stomped on the ground, my hands clenched into fist. "We were so close!"

Minato sighed next to me. "We almost had him." Minato paused, looking at Akito ad I. "I think I have a plan."

Akito snorted, "I'm not going to work with you two, there is only two bells."

"I'll give you my bell, okay." I snapped, "I just was the satisfaction of beating up that man! But I don't think I can beat him myself, and I don't even think with Mina-kun we can beat him. Akito, you're needed too."

Minato smiled, "Mai-chan's right, we won't beat Jiraiya sensei without working together."

Akito looked at us, his eyes settled to me. "And you'll give me your bell?"

I nodded, "Yeah! I can wait another yesr to become a ninja, after all, Mina-kun and I graduated early."

"Fine, what's your plan." Akito ordered.

"Jiraiya sensei!" I called while running to him, sweat dripping down me as I had just finished training. He looked at me from beside Minato.

"What, Mai?" He asked, raising a eyebrow.

I pointed a finger at him, "Why does Mina-kun get to know your summoning animal?! I wanna know how to summon a toad too!"

Minato laughed and teasingly stuck out his tongue, "Because, I'm his favorite."

I blinked before looking at Jiraiya, "Is that true, Jiraiya sensei?"

He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "No, that's not true, Mai. I just figured that the toad summoning suited Minato more than it suited you."

I stuck out my tongue, "A toad?!" A giggle escaped me, "Yeah! That does suit Mina-kun!"

Minato paused, as if thinking it over before his face turned red. "Hey!"

I ran up to him, my hand going to his forehead. "Do you have a fever?"

"Mai-chan! Stop!" Minato shouted as I leaned closer to him in order to inspect his fever.

"But, you may have a fever!" I shouted, a pout forming on my face as I looked the other direction. "Fine, be sick, I won't care."

He sighed, "Thank you."

"So, you saved Kushina yesterday, hmm?" I asked, leaning closer to Minato.

He looked the other direction staying silent. I narrowed my eyes, "You did, didn't you?"

Slowly he nodded, a grin formed on my face. "And did you use that as a chance to tell her how you feel about her hair?"

His eye twitched while a sweatdrop formed on his face. "I-" He sighed, "Yes, Mai-chan, I used that as an opportunity to say how I felt about her hair."

I squealed, hugging my blonde friend. "Yosh! Now you and Kushina can have babies and I can be the godmother!"

His face turned red again, which I ignored due to the face that he's always mean to me when I show my concern. "M-Mai-chan! We're not going to be having any babies anytime soon!"

"Who's not going to be having any babies?" Minato and I froze when another voice sounded.

Turning around we were met by Teno and Kushina. I grinned, pointing to Minato, "Mina-kun-"

Minato covered my mouth with his hand. "Nothing..."

 End of Chapter 44! The next chapter will be about Mai's Jounin years, and when Teno and her finally get together. I hope you guys liked the chapter :) I know there hasn't been much of Teno, but if you guys want me to have him in more, I can add in his POV in the next chapter.
