I thought it might be cool to include the outline for the book so you can kinda see what in the world I was thinking as I was writing it. It doesn't exactly match the finished book as I made some changes as I was writing it, but I think that makes it all the more interesting. I also added some notes/commentary in brackets throughout the outline.

Saving Grace Outline

[I wrote this whole thing on my notes app in one sitting (with one break if I remember correctly) based on Tony and Peter's (and a bit of Nat's and Pepper's I think) fandom Wiki pages. I had not seen some of the early movies in the MCU yet, including Iron Man 1 and 2. Each bullet point is meant to be one chapter and the check marks are just how I marked the chapters I finished as I wrote.]

(Peter's schedule in Homecoming — Chemistry (Ned), Physics, History (Ned), Shop (Ned), Lunch, English, Gym (Ned), Math) [I don't know if Marvel had planned a schedule for him, or if they just put him in random classes in different scenes, but it certainly felt like the latter. I had to make this based on the random classes that I had put him in and also Marvel's to make things happen at the right time in the right place.]

Peter is a year and three months older than her (August 10th) [I miscalculated Grace's age to begin with thinking Peter was a year younger than he was (and trying to get them to be the same age) and Marvel's timeline is so messed up that nothing makes sense. It kind of works though seeing as Peter blips and Grace doesn't so the age gap after that won't be as big. Yay.]

• later he goes to say goodbye to Grace because he has to leave for Afghanistan, but she says she wants to go with him, agrees that she can go with him as far as the tarmac, Rhodey is there, he says hi to Grace and she's excited to see him, Tony says goodbye to Grace and she gets in the car with Happy, Rhodey tells him he's being irresponsible and he needs to be careful especially because of Grace ✅
• After and during the blast, all he thought about was Grace, meanwhile Grace was sick with worry when Tony didn't come back, Pepper and Happy tried to do what they could for her, but she was inconsolable, this leads to Pepper holding her and she has the idea to have Jarvis pay recordings of Tony's voice to calm her down, it works ✅
• Tony talking to Yinsen, "You still haven't told me where you're from." "I'm from a small town called . It's actually a nice place." "Got a family?" "Yes, and I will see them when I leave here. And you Stark?" "A daughter, though I wouldn't blame her if she wanted a new dad." "Why?" "I feel like I've failed her, especially as of late. I'm not the father I promised myself I'd be for her. And now I'm not with her. I'm not there for her. And I wasn't went I could've been." "The fact that you care for her like that says everything. And when you get out of here, you'll have a second chance. Don't waste it." [I don't even think I watched a clip of this when writing the scene. The dialogue was on Tony's wiki and I just wanted to include it], he reminds Tony again as he dies not to waste his chance or his life, Tony says he won't, Yinsen asks what his daughter's name is, Tony tells him Grace, "That's... That's fitting..." ✅
• Pepper wakes Grace and tells her Rhodey has found Tony and they're going to the airport to meet him, reunion between Tony and Grace when he gets back, Tony first sees her holding onto Pepper's hand, Grace gets in the car with Tony, Happy, and Pepper, Happy is trying to get him to go the hospital, but Tony wants a cheeseburger, "You want a cheeseburger, Grace?" "Yeah." "See, she wants a cheeseburger, you can't argue with that adorable face, can you?" ✅ [I wrote a lot of dialogue in advance on the outline when I got ideas]
• months of pancake breakfasts and new toys later, Tony goes out to the charity event and dances with Pepper, when they joke he could fire her, he says Grace likes her too much for him to do that, they argue, and when they almost kiss, Tony stops himself as he wants to talk to Grace before he pursues anything serious with someone ✅
• Tony has Pepper help him hack into the computer and tells Happy to take Grace to a safe house just as a precaution, they say goodbye to each other, Happy gave her cheeseburgers and played with her and they watched movies, then she was finally able to go back, Tony explains to her that he's Iron Man ✅

• Grace, Tony, and Pepper are in Stark Tower, celebrating the new clean energy resource they've developed, Coulson arrives and Tony wants to send him away, but Grace is excited to see him, Coulson is happy to see her, but asks her to let him talk to Tony and Pepper alone, she goes upstairs [Tony and Pepper were on a date basically. Grace wouldn't've been downstairs to begin with. So I changed it.], Coulson tells them the Avengers Initiative is active now that Loki's stolen the tesseract and mind controlled two agents, Coulson asks him to rejoin the Initiative, Tony has Pepper and Happy stay with Grace, Tony says goodbye to her and promises to see her soon, then leaves (he and the others soon recapture Loki, Thor arrives and steals Loki back, they fight, they take Loki back to SHIELD where Tony meets Bruce, Tony has JARVIS hack into SHIELD's database ✅
• Tony and Bruce go to study the scepter, argues with Cap, sort of bonds with Banner, discover SHIELD wants to harness the tesseract's power, Fury explains they were building weapons in response to Thor and the Battle of Puente Antiguo, Tony argues with Cap again ✅

• he calls Happy and tells him he's with Grace and Pepper is in a meeting with Killian, Tony recalls meeting Killian and expresses concerns about him, Happy reminds him to pay attention to Pepper more, Tony buys Pepper a huge stuffed bunny for Christmas, then mentions a suit he made for Grace, but asks if she had any ideas for Grace as he has no idea what to buy an eleven year old girl, Pepper says Grace mentioned a video game system [I don't know why a video game system besides it giving her something to do, but it ended up being a laptop instead? I don't know.], and Tony makes a note of it, and gets stuck in his suit so Pepper has to pry him out of it, Tony watches the news about the Mandarin, Tony says, "I'm just a man in a can. The only reason I haven't cracked up is probably because Grace and you moved in. Which is great. I love you, I'm lucky. But, honey, I can't sleep. You go to bed, I come down here. I do what I know, I tinker. But threat is imminent, and I have to protect the two things that I can't live without. That's Grace and you.", Later, Tony tries to sleep, but has a nightmare, Pepper tries to comfort him but his suit sees him as a threat and tries to attack her until he deactivates it, Pepper leaves him alone ✅
• Happy is injured in the destruction of the Chinese Theatre, and Tony takes Grace to see him in the hospital, outside, he's mobbed by press and he hurriedly puts his jacket over Grace's head and hugs her to him, then gets her into the car [Changed this for whatever reason. Drama? Probably drama.], he's asked if he would kill the Mandarin and he says, "My name is Tony Stark and I'm not afraid of . I know you're a coward so I've decided that you just died, pal. I'm going to come and get the body. There's no politics here; it's just good old-fashioned revenge. There's no , it's just you and me.", then he gives away his address, Tony wants to send Pepper and Grace away, Pepper drops her luggage downstairs when Tony tells Hansen he's with Pepper, Tony asks Hansen if their one-night-stand had resulted in a child, indicating to Pepper that she wasn't Grace's mother, Hansen teases that it did, but then told him no, Grace comes downstairs, carrying her bag, and Tony introduces them to each other and tells Hansen she's leaving with Pepper, they start arguing and Hansen points out a missile heading straight for Stark Tower on the TV, Tony sends his armor onto Pepper and Grace's armor onto her (SAI: Savior's Automated Intelligence) [Sai is named after vintage_grace who was the one who encouraged/convinced me to write this book in the first place], Pepper moves to shield Grace and Tony moves to shield her, then Pepper and Grace save Tony from falling debris, Pepper gets Hansen and Grace outside, Tony gets the armor back on himself and fights the helicopters, a missile is fired through the floor and destroys everything, Tony is pulled into the ocean and then passes out while Jarvis takes over his suit and gets him to safety ✅
• Tony wakes up in Rose Hill Tennessee with no power in his suit, Tony leaves Pepper a message and assures her and Grace that's he's okay, then apologizes and tells Pepper he's going to find the Mandarin, then breaks into a workshop and tries to fix his suit, Harley catches him and threatens him with a potato gun, "How old are you, kid?" "Ten." "Hmm. My daughter's eleven." "I'm almost eleven." "Yeah, sure.", they talk about Harley's home life and Tony asks him for help, then gives him something to retaliate against his bullies, after looking at an explosion site, Tony has a panic attack, then goes to find Mrs. Davis ✅
• finds her and gets attacked by Ellen Brandt, he defeats her, he saves Harley, then tells him to go home and protect the suit and drives away, Tony calls Rhodey, then gets into Gary's broadcasting van and finds out what he needs to know through a video ✅ [I love Gary and I'm gonna be real I almost wish Grace would've met him. What a solid dude.]
• Tony calls Harley and reveals the suit is charging up and Jarvis is a little messed up, and the Mandarin is in Miami, Tony builds things to fight the Mandarin with, Tony breaks into the Mandarin's mansion and finds that he's just an actor that Killian hired, and Tony is taken hostage, Hansen was working for Killian all along, but she starts to tell him something about Grace, but Killian enters, he reveals that he subjected Pepper to Extremis, but mentions that it was regrettable that Grace ran away as he wanted to test it on children, Hansen threatens to kill herself to help Tony, but Killian just murders her ✅
• Grace recalls how Hansen let her out the back window of the house they were in and told her to run to a safe place, Grace had Sai fly her suit to Tony, then Tony realizes the suit is charged by now and summons it to escape, Rhodey shows up and tells Tony that Savin is wearing the Iron Patriot armor in order to kidnap President Ellis ✅ [I originally planned for Grace to fly the suit to Happy's hospital room, but I thought about her just showing up at a public place in Savior and a lot of questions being asked and, in this Vicious (by V. E. Schwab) moment, decided it would make more sense for her to choose Tony as her safe place. I didn't really want her in the actual fight though, so I had her meet Harley instead.]
• Tony goes to Trevor and uses his speedboat to get out of there to save Pepper and Ellis using a remote control to save one of them, Harley calls and Grace tells him what happened, Tony kills Savin as Ellis is in the Iron Patriot armor, then saved everyone on Air Force One by making a chain of people holding onto each other and lowering them in the water, Tony orders Jarvis to send the Iron Legion to the battle with Killian ✅
• Tony sends Rhodey to the president while he looks for Pepper, he finds her but Killian attacks him, Rhodey saves the President while Tony runs to save Pepper from falling, but he failed and she fell, presumably to her death, Tony fights Killian, then puts a suit of armor on him and tells Jarvis to make it self destruct, then narrowly escapes the explosion, Killian survives, but Pepper hits him with a metal pipe, then fights off Tony's suit, and kills Killian, then Tony promises Pepper to find a cure, then destroys the Iron Legion ✅
• Grace apologizes to Pepper, Happy in the hospital, Happy gets released a few days later, Tony finds a cure for Pepper, then finds a way to get the shrapnel out of his chest and undergoes surgery, he makes the pieces of shrapnel into two necklaces, gives one to Grace and one to Pepper, they move into Avengers Tower, he throws the arc reactor into the ocean and digs out Dum-E and U, then continues to work as a consultant for SHIELD, Grace meets Bruce, then Tony begins telling him the whole story, and Bruce falls asleep ✅ [I don't know why I didn't write this in. Maybe I forgot about it, finished the chapter, then decided not to rewrite it. Who knows.]

• Grace has now been around the Avengers for about three years, Tony and the Avengers attack a Hydra base, they meet some weird mutants with weird powers, he meets Wanda, sees his team dead, and then Grace, she asks him why he let this happen, he takes the scepter and leaves, Clint is injured and will be taken care of when they arrive back at the Tower, Tony gets Thor's permission to study the scepter before he takes it back to Asgard, then they begin to plan a party to celebrate the capture of a von Strucker ✅
• Tony creates Ultron with a motive of protecting the world, and he tells Bruce about it, they use the mind stone [This confused me so much until I remembered the Mind Stone was in Loki's scepter. For the longest time I thought it was the Tesseract. But it's not, so now this makes sense.] to try to sync it with the body they made but gave up as it didn't work, Grace begs to go to the party, and Tony finally gives in and lets her stay for an hour, during which she visits the Avengers, Rhodey, and Hill, then Tony send her upstairs with some food and tells her to go to bed, she reluctantly goes ✅
• once she's gone, they break out the alcohol and party for some time, then everyone tries to lift Thor's hammer and fails, Ultron appears, then attacks them all, Grace is woken up by the noise and immediately jumps in her suit, which Tony has since dubbed Savior, and goes to help, has to beg Sai to let her do something, she joins the fight, punching and kicking the robots with the techniques her father had taught her for self defense, Tony continually tells her to get to safety, but she stubbornly refuses and successfully helps them defeat the robots, but one of them escaped with the scepter ✅
• They find that Ultron escaped through the Internet, and he also destroyed Jarvis' mainframe, Thor accuses Tony of being destruction to Earth and grabs him by the throat, but lets him go when Grace shouts at him to stop, though he's still angry, Tony tells them he created it to protect the world, Steve says they would win or lose as a team, they find that von Strucker has been murdered when looking for leads on Ultron, but all of their files on him have been deleted so they have to look through the physical files, Tony suggested that Ultron would find Ulysses Klaue as he had vibranium, Grace begs to go with him, but Tony won't let her and has her stay with Happy for the time being, and she argues that she isn't a little girl anymore, Tony says that maybe she's not, but she's still his little girl and he wants to keep her safe ✅ [I wanted her to meet Pietro, and I wanted her to be at Clint's later, and I wanted her to be more involved. So I changed it.]
• They find Ultron and battle him, his robots, Pietro, and Wanda, Wanda got to the team and Hulk went on a rampage, Tony stops him, but not after he causes a lot of damage, the Avenger's are forced to go into hiding, and Clint says he has a safe house, Tony calls Grace to tell her and she asks to be flown to him, but Tony said there was no way for him to do that, and he told her to stay with Happy and Pepper until everything died down, they arrive at Clint's home, Tony goes to fix the tractor and meets Fury ✅
• then they gather the whole team, then talk and realize Ultron would go to Helen Cho in order to repair his body, and they fly to find her, Tony finds Jarvis is changing nuclear codes so Ultron can't get them, he sends Jarvis back to the tower, they get the body from Ultron, but Nat's been kidnapped, they put Jarvis into the body, though Steve, Pietro, And Wanda arrive to try to stop it, then Thor arrives and charges the body, Vision pops out, then attacks Thor out of fear, says he wants to help stop Ultron and wields Thor's hammer to prove his worthiness ✅
• they battle Ultron in Sokovia, the Helicarrier shows up to load civilians onto, Pietro is killed, Hulk leaves ✅
• Tony reunites with Grace and introduces her to Vision and Wanda, then tells her about his plans to drop out of the Avengers but continue to fund it and build them a new place to live together, Grace made Tony promise that she could still go see them as she would miss them too much, Grace goes with Tony to the base when he says his goodbyes, and she goes to see Nat and Wanda after a brief conversation with Thor and Steve, after meeting Falcon and saying her goodbyes, she leaves with Tony ✅

• [Where the MIT presentation went I don't know.] Tony is presented with the Accords and agrees to sign them, he goes to the Avengers to present them to the others, and Grace convinces him to let her go with him as she wants to see the other, Tony wants her to leave during the presentation of the Accords, but she stubbornly refuses and sits down anyway, Ross launches into the presentation, then he leaves, and Grace follows them into another room for their discussion against Tony's wishes, she listens as they all argue, Steve turns to Tony, Tony tells them about Charlie Spencer, whom he never told Grace about, they all argue and as anger rises, Grace jumps up and begins shouting at them all to stop, to be civilized and to stop talking as if they weren't a team, a few try to say something to calm her down but she continues over them, Tony tells her that this is why he never wanted her to be there in the first place, and she replies that if she weren't there then who would tell them that were acting like children because Pepper is gone now, Tony becomes upset at the mention of her and tries to say something, but Grace yells at him and tells him he's already tore her family apart enough and ruined her life, then she storms out [Sometimes I would just forget to refer to the outline when I wrote things and it would turn out differently than planned.], Natasha asks Tony what he did that was bad enough to get Pepper to leave Grace, but before he can answer Steve is told Peggy died in her sleep ✅
• Steve and Sam tried to stop Bucky from being arrested after Peggy's funeral, but failed, Tony is already at the Joint Counter Terrorist Centre helping with the aftermath of the bombing, Steve, Sam, T'Challa, and Bucky are brought there, and Tony meets them, tries to get Steve to sign the Accords, they seem to be getting somewhere but end up fighting, later, Bucky escapes in Winter Solider mode and Tony confronts him, they all fight, then he, Steve, and Sam escape, Tony promises to bring them in himself, he goes home and tells Grace what happened, she's visibly upset and goes to her room, Tony, after talking with Nat about strategy, says he's going to go check on Grace, then finds her watching something on her computer in her room, he asks her about it and she tells him it's Spiderman, then explains to him who he is and mentions how he and Thor are the only heroes who haven't actually ever screwed her over [I didn't include this because I think I forgot and their anger was dying down by then but DANG.], Tony apologizes and tells her he's going to do what he can, then tells Nat that he has an idea (she also has T'Challa in mind), later, he prepares to leave and tells Grace where he's going — to recruit Spiderman, she insists on going with him as she's the reason she found him in the first place and Tony agrees, When they arrive, May greets the both of them and tells them that Peter isn't home from school yet, they get May to believe that Peter has been accepted for an internship, and manage to get Peter in on the lie, then Tony says he wants to discuss a few more things with May alone, May tells Peter to go show Grace all of his Star Wars stuff, but to leave the door open, they go into his room, Grace tells him that Tony will probably come in soon to tell him everything, but she needs to talk to him first, she tells him that they know he's Spiderman and she asks him to help her convince Cap's side to give up or at least be open to discussion, she wants to stop it from going any further but she can't do it alone, she hurriedly gives Peter her number so they can talk more when she finds out Tony's specific plans, then Tony enters and explains everything to Peter ✅
• Grace convinces Tony to let her go to the battle while Tony makes Peter's new suit, he sends Peter with Happy and has Grace stick close to him, they text leading up to the battle, discussing strategies, Tony tells Peter what to expect, talks to him about Cap, then tells him that he needs Peter to make sure Grace stay safe, just in case the other team decides to actually fight her, and Peter says he'll protect her, at the airport, Tony tries to get Cap to surrender to no avail, then calls in Peter, the battle soon begins and Tony tells Peter and Grace to keep their distance, Grace hides with Peter as she messes with his earpiece so they could talk without Tony hearing them, then, Peter goes after Sam and Bucky, Grace headed for Wanda first, but saw Tony going for her and Hawkeye and changed direction, looking for someone on Team Cap who was alone, she heard Peter talking to Bucky and Sam through her earpiece and started heading in that direction, by the time she arrives Peter is gone, so she talks to Sam and Bucky, who tell her it too late to fix it, she leaves them in the webbing and runs ✅
• Grace is called to rejoin the team as Tony calls Vision into the fight, Peter went for Wanda, so Grace followed and told Wanda to stop from a slight distance, she asked her to try to do something, to talk to Steve but Wanda tells there's nothing she can do, Peter moves on to Clint, and Wanda refuses to fight Grace, Grace manages to get near Clint after he shoots at Tony (Tony being distracted by ant man in his suit) and tries to talk to him but Clint tells her that he's sorry and there's nothing he can do, meanwhile, Peter's already swung away, but Cap takes him down by breaking his webbing with the shield, Peter talks to Steve, telling him what Tony had said about him, but also mentioned what Grace has said about him, when it becomes clear Steve isn't going to back down, Peter mentions that Tony also said to aim for his legs and does so [I just thought of that one vine after reading that. That was a good vine.], they fight, then Peter is forced to hold up a heavy platform, before Steve leaves, Grace manages to catch him, Steve doesn't want to hear what she has to say as he already knows what it will be, but she begs him to reconsider anyway, then Steve tells her there's nothing he can do and leaves, so Grace helps Peter with platform, then decides she's going to risk talking to their own team again, but Scott grows giant before she can, Grace takes the opportunity to find Nat, who's just recovering from getting knocked out by Wanda earlier, and she begs her to do something, Nat says she doesn't know if there's anything she can do and tells her she's sorry and they part ways, meanwhile, Scott grabs Rhodey and throws him, and Peter quickly webs him before he can get hurt, Peter held onto Rhodey and tried to web Scott and kicked him, then climbed on his face, but Scott throws him off, Peter has an idea based on The Empire Strikes Back and webs Scott's knees, then Rhodey and Tony punched him and managed to get him to fall down, Peter hits the ground as he falls, and Tony makes sure he's okay, and then tells him he's done and he's going home, Peter switches to talk to Grace and asks where she is, and she tearfully tells him she just talked to Natasha, who said she couldn't do anything, either, Peter sees her coming towards him across the battlefield [I think this is another case of not referring to the outline.], and, despite his exhaustion, goes over to her and takes her to the sidelines, she takes her helmet off and begins to cry, and Peter hugs her even though she has Savior on, and he tells her that everything will be okay goes back to Nat after Grace leaves her, and Nat stands in between Steve and Bucky as they try to escape, then lets Steve go, remembering what Grace said to her and telling that to Steve, then she holds back T'Challa so Steve and Bucky can get away, meanwhile, Tony and Rhodey are following their Quinjet, Rhodey tells Vision to shoot Sam's Falcon suit down, but Vis miscalculates and shoots Rhodey's arc reactor and his suit goes down, Friday calls for help and Tony shoots Falcon with a beam ✅
• Grace and Tony are at the hospital while Rhodey is being x-rayed, Peter was sent with Happy much to Grace's dismay, Tony is in the room with Rhodey and Vis while Grace waits outside, Nat shows up and Grace hugs her, and tells her that T'Challa told them when she did (see you when I see you), then Tony comes out and informs her and Nat of Rhodey's condition, then sends Grace in with Vis and Rhodey so he can talk to Nat alone, Tony argues with her and Nat says that they should've resolved everything when Grace told them too, but Tony says it was way too late for that now, Nat goes on the run, telling Tony to tell Grace that's she sorry and she'll miss her, Tony does, then calls Happy and tells him to come get her to take her back home, Grace meets back up with Peter and Happy, they don't talk much around Happy, then they get on the plane [Did I ever look at this outline???], Peter asks if War Machine is okay, she tells him, then he asks if she's okay, and she says she's okay as she can be, then Peter says he's sorry he couldn't help more, but she tells him it wasn't his fault and he did everything that he could, they go quiet and then she tells him what happened with Nat and he says he's sorry again and she tells him to stop saying that, he apologizes again, and she gives him a look, so he suggests taking a nap on the way back and awkwardly offers his shoulder as a pillow, they fall asleep ✅
• Tony goes to the Raft and talks to the detained Avengers, gets Cap's location from Sam and goes to help him, Zemo reveals Bucky killed Tony's parents, Tony, Steve, and Bucky fight, Cap and Bucky leave, Tony returns with the shield and meets Happy, Grace, and Peter at their home, tells Happy to let Peter keep the suit and they drive him home, Grace calls the front seat, leaving Tony and Peter in the back, Peter leaves, and they say goodbye to each other, "That was so a hug, Dad." • Grace is staying with Happy at Stark Tower while Tony is off in India, she hasn't talked to Peter since Civil War (two months), but she wants to, meanwhile, Peter has been thinking about her since being back at school in between hanging out with Ned, getting teased by Flash, and developing spider man stuff, and he thinks about how he no longer really notices Liz like he used to, though Ned does even more so now (scene of him looking at Liz), Peter's upset he can't tell Ned much about Grace, but Ned knows he likes her as he has to explain his infatuation with Liz suddenly disappearing ✅
• Grace hears Happy complaining about all the messages from Peter he gets, and Grace asks about them, Happy tells her mostly what they are and that he sends them to Tony So Tony knows what he's up to, Grace decides to text Peter, they text, she teases him ('Hey, Parker.' 'Grace?' 'Yeah, it's me. You didn't delete my contact, did you, Spiderboy?' 'No, of course not. I'm just surprised you're texting me.'), Grace says if he wants he call her after he calls Happy and tell her how patrols went as it would be nicer for him to talk to an actual person, Peter says that sounds nice and he says he'll call her the next day, Grace has been waiting for his call all day, finally he calls, he tells her about Spider duties (he stopped a bike thief, helping a lady across the street who bought him a churro, then accidentally stopped a man from getting in his own car), expresses his desire to do something more, Grace tells him there's just not much going on right now, asks him about school, talks about Decathlon team and how he quit to make time for Spiderman, which has made everyone mad at him, Ned still really likes Liz, stops himself because he thinks he's talking too much about himself, Grace assures him that there's nothing interesting for her to talk about as all she does is do her online classes and read and watch Netflix, Peter says there's gotta be more than that, but Grace says there isn't especially with her dad away and Happy being busy all the time, Peter sees a robbery and tells her he'll call her tomorrow, Peter, after fighting the "Avengers" in the bank and one of them used an anti-gravity gun on him and Delmar and Murph had to be saved, returns home and Ned finds out he's Spiderman, Peter tells him what he can, then mentions that he has so much to tell him about Grace Stark, which Ned promptly freaks out about ✅
• Peter then goes to Thai with Aunt May, Peter tells May he's stressed about the internship, then says he's been talking to Grace on the phone and texting her, and May asks if he larbs her, but he's distracted by a news report about the robbery before he can answer, May tells him not to get mixed up in that, then Peter asks for a new backpack, Peter started texting Grace during the day in between classes so she wouldn't be as bored (questions from before???), then, Peter tells Ned everything about Spiderman throughout his day, then during gym Peter tells Ned about what happened with him and Grace, and tells him that he's really starting to like her, then Ned overhears Liz talking about how cool she thinks Spiderman is, so Ned says, "We know Spiderman!" And promises that Spiderman will be at the party, Flash says, "Yeah, are you gonna get Stark's daughter to come, too?", Peter tells him to shut up, someone in his group says that they could just bring a random girl and they wouldn't be able to say it wasn't her, Flash points out the picture that the media got a couple years ago, and Peter says that it was taken when she was eleven, and Flash jokes that he's a stalker, causing Peter to become angry and blush, but Liz tells Flash to shut up ✅
• Peter calls Grace later that day and tells her about the party, Grace tells him how she wishes she could go but with Friday and Happy checking in on her whenever he can, she would never be able to sneak out to go, Peter says he wishes she could go, too, Peter says that she can't sneak out, but could he sneak in, and she tells him that Tony still isn't home and that Happy is working in another part of the building, and she could manipulate the cameras to create a blind spot out on the balcony, Peter swings over, Peter arrives and jokes that he forgot what she looked like since he hadn't seen her in so long, they sit down, they joke and laugh with each other, she draws him (she looks closer at him, "What?" "Nothing- stop looking at me." "What if I wanna look at you?" "Then I'd say you're a cliché sap; suck it up, Parker." "Rude!"; she pushes his chin up gently with her hand, "Tilt up just a little bit... okay. You were saying?", her fuzzy socks resting against his thigh when she scoots closer) [I added this after initially writing the outline because Grace's whole art thing was completely unplanned and only happened because I was trying to fit her into the dialogue in scenes she wasn't physically in whenever I could, and from there her drawing in scenes where she's present and the adults are talking was convenient. And then it just stuck.], Peter starts falling in love with her ✅
• Peter goes to the party, Peter is reluctant, but then ultimately goes inside, he wishes Grace was there but not so he could stick it to Flash, they meet MJ, then see Liz, who compliments Ned's hat, Ned blushes, Peter says it's great party, Ned stutters put a compliment about her outfit, she blushes and thanks him, Peter says he doesn't want to be Spiderman he just wants to be himself, but Ned tells them he needs to be seen with Spiderman to get Liz to like him, Peter says he thinks she already does, Ned says he's crazy, Peter sees an explosion and swings off to investigate, After Peter's run in with Vulture, Ned call him and tells him Flash is mocking him, but he says he and Liz have been talking which is a plus, Peter says he's just going to go home, then he finds an energy core left behind by the Vulture and his guys, whom Peter just fought, Peter grabs it, he gets a call by the time he gets home from Grace, she asks him what happened because Tony had just called her and mentioned what happened, Peter told her the whole story of the skirmish, starting with the party itself, then the weapons situation, and how he nearly drowned, then what Tony told him, Grace said he should listen to Tony because what he was dealing with sounded dangerous, Peter thinks she thinks he can't handle it, Grace says he doesn't know the full situation yet and she just doesn't want him to get hurt, Peter blushes, but tells her he'll be fine ✅ [Possibly another case of not looking at the outline, but I like the whole Peter breaking his promise situation. It makes it a bit more complicated.]
• Peter and Ned investigate the thing Peter found (which Ned calls the glow-y thingy), they encounter two of the guys Peter fought at the school and Peter follows them, and then puts a tracker on one of the men's shoes, they follow the men on computers at Peter's apartment, and wait for them to stop as Peter texts Grace and at one point talks to Ned about her, the men stop in Maryland and Peter decides to tag along on the Decathlon trip to DC ✅
• and texts Grace that he changed his mind and he's going, she tells him to take lots of pictures and send them to her, on the bus, after everyone on the team but Flash accepts him, Liz has everyone training for finals, Peter takes a picture with Ned and sends it to Grace, then he gets a call from Happy wondering why he just left NYC, Peter tells him about the DC trip and says that Grace already knows about it, At their hotel, Ned and Peter remove Peter's tracker, and Peter takes another picture to send to Grace, Peter prepares to leave, then encounters Liz in the hallway and asks if he and Ned would want to go swimming, Peter says he can't, but says Ned would totally love to, he tells Ned to hide the glowy thingy and go have fun with Liz, saying he'd be alright and he'd call Grace or Happy if he really needed help ✅
• Peter is stuck in the storage vault and has nothing to do now, he recalls the fight he just had with Vulture while hanging upside down, he gives Karen her name, explores the web combinations he as giving after having Ned take off the Training Wheels protocol, he makes a web hammock then asks Karen about Grace, who says everything she knows about her is what she's gathered from Peter's interactions with her that he's had with the suit on, as there's nothing about her online save that picture and a couple from when she was little and mere guesses at her age and her mother, Peter then wonders about her mother, noting that he's pretty sure Pepper Potts, whom Grace has talked about, isn't her actual mom, Karen says she knows nothing about that either, then Peter gets bored (only 37 minutes have gone by) and he searches through Vulture's stuff, and Karen tells him the energy core that Ned has will explode if exposed to enough radiation, Peter realizes Ned is in danger, he manages to open the door and hurries to Ned, Peter makes it to the Washington Monument just as the core explodes and goes in to save everyone in the elevator, he saves everyone, though Ned pushes Liz to the front to get her out as quickly as possible, then the elevator drops and Peter has to quickly save Ned, then he falls down the elevator while Flash asks him if he knows Peter ✅
• Grace calls him when the story hits and says it's lucky he was there and brought his suit, Peter says he takes it almost everywhere with him just in case, they talk more about his trip though he doesn't provide much detail, Peter mentions Ned telling him that he almost kissed Liz at the pool, Grace says it sounds like fun and she wishes she could go on trips like that and parties and things, Peter says he'll come see her and swing over, Peter meets Grace out on the balcony with the postcard, they sit over on the edge and talk about things, she mentions they're moving to the Avengers base and that it'll suck being farther away from him as they won't be able to do this anymore, they talk about Peter's parents and Uncle Ben, then Peter asks about her mom, so she tells him the story ("Can I ask you something?" "Sure." "Never mind." "Well now you have to ask me." "I think you'll be mad at me if I do." "Why would I be mad at you? Is it about my dad?" "No... actually it's about... your mom." "Pepper?" "If she's your biological mom, then, yes." "She's not." "Then no." "Oh." "I'm sorry, I shouldn't've-" "No, Peter, it's okay. I guess I should tell you considering I know what happened to your mom." "You-You do?" "When my dad figured out Spider-Man's identity, everything on record came up. And he gave me the run down so we'd know what we were walking into." "Do you know... how?" "The general... gist of it, yes. Peter, I'm sorry." "No, it's okay. I'm glad you know. When you get close to people, you kinda have to have this conversation at some point, right? So, here goes... My parents. A plane crash. Flying to Europe for their anniversary. Left me with May and... Ben. I was little. I don't really remember much. And, then, Ben. Shot in the street. Robbery gone wrong." *she grabs his hand, he squeezes hers* "Spider-Man could've saved them." "Peter, don't blame yourself." "I wasn't even Spider-Man at the time — of either. But I can't help thinking... what if I had been? Would they still be alive? I mean, Uncle Ben, at least..." "This may not be the best time to quote a lion, but..." "Actually, that's kinda comforting." "Well, I suppose it's my turn." "You really don't have to if you don't-" "No, I want to. It's like you said; the conversation comes with getting close to people." *she tells him*, "Do you hate her? Your mom?" "No. I mean, I wouldn't be alive without her, and if she hadn't've left my life would be way different. Aside from never leaving the house, I kinda like it the way it is now." "And you don't know who she is?" "Nope." "Do you ever wonder?" "Sometimes. But then I remind myself that I don't care. I've got Dad and Happy, and sort of the Avengers." "You've got me, too." He leans into her touch, his eyes locked on her... "Was that any good?" he asks nervously, breathless. She raises a brow at him. "Peter, that was the best kiss I've had." She pointedly adds, "That was the only kiss I've ever had." Peter laughs a little. "Yeah... me, too." "It was great, though. Really." "Well... let's give you something to compare it to." • Peter eventually leaves, stealing kisses on the way out; back at school, Peter nearly skips, gets detention with MJ, then walks out to track Vulture again ✅
• he tracks Aaron Davis and gets information from him that Vulture had illegal weapons on the Staten Island Ferry, he scouts and Tony calls him to apologize for not answering his calls, but said Grace had told him that they'd been talking, and he started to tell him to be careful but had to hang up to focus on the task at hand, he fights the bad guys, then FBI shows up and begins to arrest everyone, including him, Vulture suits up and begins attacking him and the agents, a weapon explodes and cuts the ferry in half, so Peter tries desperately to hold it together, Tony arrives and fixes the situation ✅
• Tony berates Peter for being reckless, and Peter argues back, Tony reveals he's actually there and he believed Peter and told the FBI and they would've pulled it off if not for Peter, Tony asks if he'd been lying to Grace all this time when he never mentioned Vulture after what happened last time, telling her he was back to regular Spiderman duties, and Peter admits that he was only because he knew Grace would tell Tony because she told him she wanted him to be safe, and Tony asks him why he didn't listen to her, as there was no way Grace would agree with him on something like that unless she really believed it was dangerous, Tony takes the suit back ✅
• Peter comes home in pajamas, May tells him she's worried about him and had no idea where he was, and she knew he snuck out of his hotel room in DC and every night, she asks if he was going to see Grace, then Peter tells her he lost the internship ("I lost the internship." "Can you still talk to Grace? Can you still see her?" "I-I don't know. I can't lose her, too, May. I can't."), May comforts him, later, he calls Grace, who tells him she was reluctant to pick up ("You know, Peter, I was reluctant to pick up..." "I'm sorry." "You lied to me, Peter. You promised." "I just... You sounded so... upset. I didn't know what else to do. I didn't want to be the reason you were sad." "Well, you are now, so that kinda backfired, didn't it?" "I just... I had to show Mr. Stark that I could do the big stuff — that I could be an Avenger. I had to... prove myself." "Not to me." "What?" "You never had to prove yourself to me, Peter. Never." "I... I'm sorry." "Do you have any idea how stupid that was? I mean, really, Peter-" "I know. I know. I was an idiot. And I am so sorry, Grace. I'm sorry I lied, I'm sorry I screwed up, I... I'm just sorry. It's all I can be."), he apologizes to her for lying and says he just wanted to prove himself, but she tells him he never had to, especially not to her, he apologizes again, she tells him how stupid he was and he says he knows that now, they talk and she forgives him, though she says there's not much she can do about Tony, and she says he deserves to have the suit taken away, just for a little while, at school, Peter is in detention, but he starts getting his grades up and texts and calls Grace a lot, though she says now isn't the time to sneak over to Stark Tower, and he helps Ned build up confidence to ask out Liz to Homecoming, Ned does and she says yes, and it gives Peter the idea to ask Grace to Homecoming ✅
• Peter goes to Stark Tower, and is immediately received by Tony Stark, who was talking to Pepper, Tony tells him he's not giving him the suit back, but Peter says he's not here for that, and asks Tony if he can ask Grace to the Homecoming dance, no Spiderman involved, meanwhile, Friday informs Grace that Peter's downstairs, so Grace goes downstairs to meet him, Tony tells Peter he knows his heart's in the right place but it just can't happen because he has to keep her and her identity safe, Grace arrives and sees Peter, then asks Tony if he gave him the suit back, then she sees Peter has tears in his eyes, Tony reluctantly tells her what happened, causing Grace to become upset with him, she argues, but Peter tells her Tony's right and her safety is the most important thing ("He's right." "What?" "Grace, your safety is more important than a dance." "Not to me!" "I don't want you to get hurt. I'm sorry. I was stupid for even thinking this was a good idea." "Kid, no you weren't-" "I'm sorry for bothering you, Mr. Stark."), Peter leaves and Grace runs upstairs, Pepper looks at Tony sadly, Peter tells Ned what happened, but Ned still convinces him to go, saying that he could go with MJ and Ned to Liz's house and her dad could give them a ride, then Peter realizes Liz's dad is Vulture ✅
• in the car they all chat and give Vulture clues that Peter is Spiderman, he stops Peter from getting out at the school and threatens him, then drops him off, Peter walks in, sees Ned, Liz, and MJ, then says he has to leave and runs out, he puts on his suit and goes outside only to meet Shocker, meanwhile, Ned apologizes to Liz and runs after Peter ✅
• he saves Peter with the web shooter, Peter tells him the situation and Ned says he'll help in any way he can, Peter has him call Happy and keep track of him on his phone, Peter used Flash's car and zooms off to fight Vulture, he calls Ned with Flash's phone and says his phone is in Vulture's car for Ned to track, Peter is trapped underneath rubble ✅
• fighting to get out, he cries for help, wishes he could call Tony or Grace, he thinks of Grace and how he wanted to give her the most normal life she could possibly have, how even if he couldn't date her he still wanted to be there for her, he thinks about Tony and what Tony said after the ferry, then motivates himself get out of the rubble and continues the fight, They fight on the plane, then on the beach, where Peter saves Vulture's life, then Vulture is arrested ✅ [Involving Grace in the fight just made the most sense while writing it because Ned only calling Happy when he can just as easily call Grace — and be more likely to get to an answer — makes no sense, and if Ned calls Grace, Grace isn't gonna sit at home and hope Peter doesn't, like, die. She's gonna go out there and help him. So she did, and I actually like it better that way — which means, yes, the 'I love you' scene was unplanned. The first I love you was meant for their little Homecoming at the compound.]
• later, Ned apologizes to Liz and she reveals she's moving to Oregon, during a Decathlon meeting, Peter meets Happy in the bathroom, Happy takes him to the Avengers Base, where they first meet Tony, who sends Happy on, Tony tells Peter he can date Grace as long as he understands that Grace can't do normal things girlfriends do in order for her to be safe, then, Tony takes him over to Happy and Pepper, then gives him his suit back and offers him a spot on the Avengers Team, Peter rejects, then Tony says it was a test and sends Grace and Peter on to catch up while reminding them Friday is always watching, Peter tells her about what happened at Homecoming she apologizes for not believing in him and they kiss ("So, I've been meaning to ask you, are my lips as perfect as you thought they'd be?" "Oh, shut up, Peter." "I'm serious, are they?" "Don't tell me you're serious when you're laughing." "Okay, I'm not laughing anymore. I'm serious." *kisses him* "Don't get a big head about this but yes." "I knew it." "Keep in mind you're the only boy I've ever kissed." "That's fine by me." "Oh, shut up." "You're the only girl I've ever kissed." "Well, that's fine by me too." "I think we'll keep it that way." "I think we will.", kissing, Friday: "Grace...", "What? Right now, she's the most gorgeous girl he's ever seen, "You look... stunning." "I know." Pepper: "Grace!" "Oh, fine. You look stunning, too." "Thanks, it really sounded like you meant it." "I did." *peter just stands there* "Do you... have something for-?" "Oh, right, yeah." *puts the corsage on her*), Pepper takes a couple pictures, on Grace's phone, then Tony leads them into one of the empty rooms deeper in the facility that Pepper had decorated like a high school homecoming dance, and Grace and Peter dance (L O V E; "Love, huh?" *he shrugs* "I love you, too, Peter Parker." - Grace is seventeen in Infinity War (over two years after homecoming), Peter is eighteen ✅
[So I had no idea what was going on in Infinity War or Endgame for SG. Then I went through the MCU timeline after finishing writing Homecoming and watched the movies I hadn't seen and decided to rewatch Infinity War (and Endgame) as I wrote, and I changed my system a bit since they were so vague plot-wise. I went through the script (I used scripts all throughout the book but not like this) and copy-pasted the scenes I needed to Wattpad. When I did that I had the idea to put Grace in Wakanda so she would be more involved instead of Infinity War being two chapters of hardly altered scenes we all already know. I had to reorder some scenes too so they would switch back and forth from Tony and Peter to Grace.]

• Grace and Peter text while he's on the bus to MoMA, then Peter's spider sense goes off and he spots a ring in the sky, then tells Ned to cause a distraction, after putting on the suit and his mask, he has Karen call Grace, he tells Grace about the ring and Grace reminds him that Tony and Pepper went out on a jog with Happy this morning, Peter tells her to stay calm and stay inside, away from windows just in case, he hangs up by telling her he loves her, meanwhile, Tony's just been with Strange and has heard about Thanos and the Infinity Stones, he called Pepper and send her and Happy home to safety and told Pepper to call him when she got there and to keep Grace safe ✅

G: "Yes, as a matter of fact, I am. For x years now." Nat: "That's great, Grace. I really like him, from what I remember." Steve: "Me too. Kid's got heart." Sam: "I don't like him. At all." Wanda: "If you are happy, we are happy." G: "Well, I am. I couldn't be happier." Sam: "Sure doesn't seem like it..." G: "It's just... I don't know where he is right now. I-I don't know if he's okay... I don't even know where to look for him. Honestly, he's probably in space with my dad because he's got too much heart... But that's who he is. • Tony is leaving a message for Pepper and Grace on the helmet, he tells Grace he loves her and he always will, and he says that if she can prove to MIT that he's her dad, they'll accept her on the spot, he also tells her what Peter said and he hopes that she'll the message, Grace sees a light out of her window, then recognizes it as a larger object, everyone in the base rushes outside, then find Carol Danvers, who has just put a ship down on the lawn, Tony emerges from the ship and Grace hugs him, then Pepper joins in, then Grace asks about Peter, Tony tearfully tells her that he lost him and he wanted her to know he loved her and he was sorry, Grace breaks down on the lawn, Pepper holds her and helps her up, (Carol asks Cap who Peter is??) ✅
• back inside, Tony yells at Cap while Grace is in the corner, huddled up with Pepper, crying silently, Tony faints and Grace lets out a sob as he's given a sedative, and she and Pepper sit by his bed as he rests ✅

Every flower, every cloud, every drop of water lapping the shore, every beautiful, wonderful bird soaring on the dark horizon. And all he can do is look at her — at her watery eyes and the way they're looking back at him. And he can feel his heart beating so violently and loudly in his chest, feeling it warming and filling up so fast that he's almost afraid it will spill over and come pouring out of his mouth, ruining the moment. But she alleviates those fears when her lips collided with his, their eyes closing, his right hand instinctively moving to her shoulder, his left going around her waist as she leans into him, her one hand cupping his cheek, the other in his hair, and he leans towards her, too, into the kiss. It's slow and yet it's fast — so fast that it's over within seconds but it felt like forever over and over again. When they pull away, he leans forward again, resting his forehead on hers. She stole his breath. He stole hers. His mouth quirks up at the corners — his mouth, which, she wondrously thinks, was just on hers. "Wow," he says. "I really was gone for five years, huh?"; "You didn't watch Merlin without me, did you?") [This was originally meant for their first kiss, but I didn't think it was awkward enough and I wanted to write it in the moment, so I moved what I had written to Endgame.], then blasts someone from Thanos' army coming to attack them, Peter says, "Wow, I really was gone for five years, huh?", then rejoin the fight ✅
• getting separated at some point along the way, Peter gets the gauntlet, uses instant kill, Peter webs onto Thor's hammer, then lands and ends up giving the gauntlet to Carol Danvers, Grace joins her and the other woman in getting the gauntlet to ant man's van, Thanos destroys the van [R.I.P. van] ✅

And as he replies, Grace remembers all those years ago when he said it to her for the first time. Memory blends with reality, and she hears double. Her father's voice, twice; one slightly nervous, a little unsure. Gentle. The other hard as cement, a victory speech, sure as the sun — even in the midst of all of this madness — hangs in the sky. "I am... Iron Man." (Separate chapter??: He snaps his fingers. [I ended up not doing this but dang the impact.]) and snaps ✅
• Tony talking to Grace???? ("Hey, Dad. I know we haven't talked in a while...", "Maybe from your perspective." "Dad?" "Hey, sweetheart." "I... All the times I've done this... you've never... talked back." "So I really am going to die, aren't I? Can't say I wasn't expecting it." "I... Gosh, Dad, I've missed you so much." "Hey, I know. But there's no reason to cry. This was the only way. And I'm glad I got to save the world in the process. I'm glad I was able to save you. And your mom, and Happy, and Morgan, and Peter, and Harley, and — well, everyone. How are they anyway? You've got to be, what, twenty seven now?" "Twenty six." [Nope. Had to fix that.] "Wow." "And we're great. It's been hard, of course, but... we're sticking together. We're healing. There's still a Tony-shaped hole in our hearts, but we're healing." "I'm glad to hear it." "Morgan misses you a lot. And so does Mom." "Yeah, that's the bad part about all of this." "Yeah, it really sucks." "Well... I'm assuming you're still with Peter?" Tony asks, slightly changing the subject. Grace rolls her eyes and chuckles. "Of course I am, Dad. There's nobody else I'd ever be with. Not even now that I can go out and meet new people." Tony laughs. "I figured as much. You guys were always so sickeningly in love with each other." Grace smiles widely. "You know, that's kinda the reason I even talked to you again today..." And then she tells him something that validates everything, that assures him that it was all worth it, and brings tears to his eyes. "I wish I were there," he says, happy but with a hint of regret. Grace shares the same tone. "I do too. But I guess a picture will have to do." And somehow Tony knows that it's time; there is no more time, and he will have to say goodbye. Forever. "I love you sweetheart." Grace knows it too, and he can tell her heart is aching. "I love you too, Dad." And then he is back on the battlefield, one eye unseeing, the other landing on his daughter, right in his line of sight, four years younger and so different. So scared. And Peter is right there next to her. ✅
• As the army turns to dust, then Thanos himself, Grace reaches Tony first, she asks him if he's okay, tries to help him stand, but he can't, he quietly says her name, so, still holding his hand, she sobs and tells him she loves him, and he weakly squeezes her hand, Peter arrives and tells him they won, but realizes Tony is dying when he doesn't respond and sees Grace has given up and falls back as Pepper arrives and tells him he can rest now (kid), and Rhodey arrives and can only watch with tears in his eyes (everyone takes a knee; Steve fell more than kneeled. He sank as though he couldn't bare to stand anymore. Even from this distance, Grace saw tears in his eyes; Bucky sank heavily, as if there was a weight pushing on him, forcing him to his knees. The weight of guilt, she knew. He lowered his head. She wanted to tell him that it was okay. That she — and, most importantly, Tony — has forgiven him long ago; Rhodey kneeled slowly at first, then all at once. Pepper shakily got up on one knee, still holding Tony's hand. Then, Grace, mustering all her strength, placed her hands on the ground and pushed herself to her knees. Peter's arms slid back, though they were still around her. And he supported her as she pushed one leg out, placing her foot on the ground. Peter soon did the same, opting to just hold Grace's hand tightly as their tears fell freely. They all stayed that way for a long moment, though it felt like years before Steve slowly raised. He walked over to Pepper, putting a comforting hand on Grace's shoulder as he went. He quietly offered to carry Tony's body back to their home. Though Grace already knew it wouldn't really feel like home anymore.) ✅

She hasn't changed all that much, aside from what blipping has done to her. But I changed... more. In a different way, you know?" (sIKE he brings her there bc she didn't get snapped and also they're engaged so that's cool: Harley had sent Grace pictures, but she was even more beautiful in person — blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a sad, almost apologetic look on her face, and that's beautiful too, in a tragic sort of way.) [Hannah is named after my best friend DJ_Tatortot who likes Ty Simpkins. She also helps me with a lot of my writing, so I wanted to name Harley's girlfriend after her.] "Yeah." "Seems like you and Peter are still going strong, though." "Yeah, we are." "Is it weird for you guys?" "You know, I feel like it should be, but it isn't. I've got the old Peter back, you know? He's exactly how I've remembered him for the past five years, and this is exactly what I've wanted for the past five years. And, yeah, I changed a little, but... like you said, he blipped; he's changed, too. And even if he hadn't... I mean, I'm in love with him, Harley. Like head over heels, bottom of the deep end in love. Still." "Wow." She laughs softly. "I know... It'll be different, for sure, but... a good different, I think."), Grace stands with Pepper and Morgan (Harley stands with them too??), Peter stands with May, Tony leaves Morgan and Grace a message, Pepper, Steve, Rhodey, Bruce, and Peter all listen, Tony gives Morgan her message first, then Grace, (to Pepper: guess he won't come back for me this time [Didn't use this but big oof.]) Grace stands and goes upstairs, crying, after a few moments, Peter quietly tells Pepper he's going up to check on her, he finds her crying on her bedroom floor, holding the necklace Tony gave her made out of the shrapnel that was in his chest, Peter asks if she wants to be alone, and she shakes her head, so he holds her to him and lets her cry, (She feels like that little girl, being held on the floor as she sobbed, not knowing if her father was coming home, a barley-a-teenager crying on the tarmac of an airport as her family fell apart, then crying in her mother's arms because her first — and only — love had just broke his promise, and then nearly an adult, crying on the ground because she'd just lost half of everything she knew, including him, that same love, her endgame, and a woman, sobbing for the loss of a mentor, a friend, an almost aunt that somehow always knew what to do, what to say. She was vulnerable — more than she'd ever been, a hole burning its way through her from the inside it as one memory, one feeling brought itself to the forefront. Her mother didn't want her. And the one who'd always wanted her, who'd given so much for her, was gone. And who would want her like that now? No one. No one could replace him, fill that hole. But they would certainly try — and, maybe, it would work. Maybe it would make it ache less.), then she tells him to tell her that he wants her, thinking about what Tony told her and how alone she feels, and Peter does, saying he will always want her, and he'll never let her go as long as she wants him too (And she was right. That ache, at the those words, shrank — just barely, but it shrank. And it would continue to shrink with time, though the memory of her father never would.) ✅ [This ending always got me, especially before I had the idea for the epilogue when it was truly the end I guess because of the emotion in it and also the certainty that it gives you that Peter and Grace are gonna stay together. Like they're hurting, and it sucks, and they will be for a long time, but they'll be together. Then, the epilogue kind of ties it up neatly, bringing it back to the father/daughter story it turned into when I started plotting it and began it when Grace was a baby. It was supposed to be a small Peter Parker fic at first and it turned into something more than that, and I think it's ultimately better this way.]
