I Do

Part Three of Three

Time has been crawling by all morning, both at the cabin and the hotel.

Breakfast at both places took forever, and neither bride nor groom could eat very much. Pepper, after getting ready, put the finishing touches on flowers and some of the food, though most of it will be catered. Happy and Rhodey arrived fairly early, both dressed in their tuxes, though they were outside, rolling out the white runner, putting fairy lights on the altar, and moving the keyboard to the side of the altar for Ned's wife Charlotte to play during the procession. Then, they set up tables and chairs in the backyard for the reception. Pepper and the bridesmaids ran around setting up the centerpieces and tablecloths, putting out the food they had.

Pepper took care of the caterers and the flowers, and the cake was kept inside, protected from heat, little hands, and anyone who would happen to come whisking by to knock it over.

Grace herself didn't see any of this, being up in her old room. Her makeup took an hour and a half, and her hair — curled and pinned back with pale blue flowers woven into it — took two, but it felt like ten altogether. Her bridesmaids got dressed and did their makeup, and Hannah got Ellie ready, though Ellie was not having it.

Morgan was about to burst from excitement; she might've been more impatient and excited than Grace.

Meanwhile, at the hotel, Sam and Bucky were teasing Peter, and Harley was, too, but less so; Sammy had to be dressed in his tux, too.

Peter's hair was gelled and fixed, and May talked to him, kept him from throwing up due to nerves.

"What if she changes her mind?" he fretted.

May wanted to roll her eyes. "Why would she change her mind? She waited five, bleak years for you, you know. She loves you."

"You're right," Peter said. "You're right... but still."

"Just take a deep breath, Pete. You're fine. It's going to be fine."

"What if I cry?"

"Oh, I know you will."

"But what if I can't say my vows?"

"Take a moment and try again. No one will blame you. It's going to be fine."

"Okay," he said, nodding. "Okay..."

He put on his gold tux, adjusted it about twenty times, then added his light blue pocket square and carefully tied Ben's tie, which May fixed for him, even though she didn't need to. There were tears in her eyes.

The groomsmen got themselves dressed, and Bucky and Sam horsed around but somehow managed not to completely waste time. Harley was busy corralling Sammy, who had the energy of a thousand suns. At the very least, his suit wasn't wrinkled.

May went through a checklist before they left, making sure everyone had everything. Rhodey had forgotten his tie, and May got it herself after he called her, but everyone else seemed to have everything together but Peter, who didn't have to worry about bringing anything but his suit and himself.

At the cabin, Pepper and Wanda helped Grace with her veil and her dress, making sure every fold was correct, every flower was in place, and that the veil was secure in her hair. It fit perfectly, as they already knew, though Grace irrationally worried it wouldn't. She looked at herself in the mirror, and her giddy feeling increased.

"When will Peter be here?" she asked.

Pepper looked at her phone. "May texted and said they were on their way about five minutes ago. He'll be here soon. I hope the photographer gets here before they do."

The photographer was there a couple minutes later, and Pepper went down to meet her, and she began setting everything up. She was filming the ceremony, too, so she went back to put up that camera.

Soon after, May texted and said they were there, and Ned, Sam, Bucky, Harley, and Sammy immediately went in the house, meeting the bridesmaids (and flower girl) in the living room. Wanda and Pepper went back downstairs, and Pepper told May to have Peter stand in front of the lake with his back towards the house before she went to get the photographer.

Finally, she went back up for Grace, who was two minutes from running downstairs by herself. Instead, Pepper led her down to the living room, where everyone immediately told her how beautiful she looked, Sam and Bucky in a teasing sort of way characteristic of themselves (Sam particularly), and then they all followed her to the porch to watch Peter absolutely lose it when he saw her.

He hasn't yet.

Grace is walking towards him now, and his back is to her, and May is off to the side, telling him wait, don't turn around yet. The photographer is ready, camera poised to snap a photo the moment he turns around.

A small part of Grace worries he won't like it — the dress, the makeup, the hair, any of it — but she knows that that's irrational. Like MJ said when they were looking for dresses: she could be wearing a trash bag and he'd still love it.

She stops a few feet away from him with a rapidly beating heart, and the few moments that pass before May tells him to turn feel like ages.

The moment he sees her, tears come to his eyes, a product of the overwhelming happiness and awe that he feels, looking at her in that dress. She looks beautiful — she looks gorgeous — and that alone would make him cry, but it's not just that. It's their wedding, and she is his bride. And it all hits him like it never had before, and the nerves just melt away for now because he knows deep within him that all of this is — that they are — meant to be.

"Gr-Grace," he stutters, his heart overflowing, and he reaches out to touch her but he feels as though it's almost forbidden, like how you're not supposed to touch the art at museums. Like touching her would ruin it all somehow.

She's smiling, crying, too. "Hey, Peter." She realized when he turned that it wasn't just a first look for him, but for her, too. The same thing went through her head — this is their wedding day, and he is her groom, and it all feels like a dream again even though she knows it's real. It's better than all her dreams of this moment.

He finally steps forward, his hands on her shoulders, still looking at her with that same awe. His hands shaking, he lifts her veil, even while he isn't sure if he can even do that yet, but he wants to see her face, her smiling eyes looking back at him. "You are..." he starts, his next words more sincere than probably anything he's ever said in his life "... so beautiful."

"I know," Grace replies, laughing. "You look beautiful, too."

Peter smiles back at her. "Thanks, it really sounded like you meant it."

She reaches up and takes his hands. "I did," she says, verging on a whisper.

The moment dissipates when the photographer steps in and starts posing them for their pictures. The bridal party is brought in after that to take more pictures, and then they all go back inside for some last minute preparations before the guests arrive.

Grace, her bridesmaids, and the flower girl all wait up in her room, while the groomsmen and the ring bearer wait in Pepper's room (Morgan's room is the only other option), but the bridesmaids and groomsmen often walk back and forth, meeting in the hallway, making sure all is well with the bride and groom (and teasing one or the other when they feel it necessary). Peter never goes upstairs and instead kisses Grace before she does, then goes to the altar and sets up his own pictures on the front row of his side — one of his mom, one of his dad, and one of Ben. He waits there while Pepper, May, Happy, and Rhodey are seating the guests, making sure everything is ready, and meeting the pastor who's arrived to perform the ceremony, who stands with Peter at the altar.

And, finally, everyone is seated, everything is ready, and the bridal party is brought downstairs. Peter and Grace, then apart, both feel excitement and nerves (but good nerves) in their hearts. They each take a deep breath.

Bucky and Morgan walk first (she chose to walk with Bucky instead of Sam at the rehearsal dinner, prompting a twenty-minute-long beef between the two of them), and Morgan is beaming the whole time. Peter chuckles as he watches her, and Bucky lightly punches his shoulder when he goes to stand in his place. Next, Sam walks with MJ, who looks only mildly uncomfortable; all the eyes on her aren't her favorite thing. But this is for Grace and Peter, so she isn't complaining. Sam also punches Peter's shoulder, and Peter shakes his head while Bucky stifles laughter, as they didn't plan on both doing that beforehand.

Then, Harley and Hannah, the former holding Sammy's hand, the latter holding Ellie, walk down the aisle, and they leave Sammy with Scott Lang and his family at the back — Scott is meant to tell Sammy to start walking when it's time, a job he learned of two moments after he arrived. Harley and Hannah are just thankful that Sammy is behaving and hasn't lost the rings.

Finally, Wanda and Ned, maid of honor and best man, make their way down the aisle, and Ned smiles at Peter when he sees him, noticing how Peter's fidgeting.

"Okay, Sammy, go," Scott says, gently pushing Sammy on. Harley gestures for him to walk down the aisle, and Hannah smiles at him encouragingly. Sammy, the little pillow in his hands, runs straight to his mother, causing everyone to laugh as she directs him to his father.

There's more laughter when Hannah hurries back down the aisle, then turns back around with Ellie still in her arms. She tries to get Ellie to throw the petals, doing it a couple times herself, and Ellie picks up a single petal and drops it. Hannah takes her hand and helps her throw it, and then Ellie takes the little basket handle in her hand and dumps the whole thing out about two thirds of the way down the aisle, prompting more laughter. Hannah spreads the the petals out with her feet before retaking her place, and then everyone is instructed to stand for Grace's entrance.

"Don't be nervous," Happy says quietly, his arm laced through Grace's.

"You wrote your vows down, right?" Rhodey asks, at Grace's other arm. They're starting to walk towards the alter, having been waiting just outside the back door to know when to walk over.

"I did," Grace replies. "Mom has them." Her bouquet is in one hand, on Rhodey's side.

Her family and friends, on both sides, look at her smiling, some crying. Grace only sees Peter, and Peter only sees her, both of them with gathering tears in their eyes. Happy and Rhodey, also with misty eyes, hug her and take their seats next to Pepper, and Grace glances back at those pictures — Vision, Nat, and her father — before she stands in front of Peter. He lifts her veil for the second time that day, this time more slowly, then he steps back a little.

The pastor begins speaking. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of God to witness and bless the joining together of this man and this woman in Holy Matrimony. Marriage is a contract to be entered into thoughtfully and seriously and with a deep realization of the obligations and responsibilities. Marriage is the moment where your hearts and souls are joined together for eternity.

"The union of husband and wife is intended by God for their mutual joy; for the help and comfort given each other in prosperity and adversity; and, when it is God's will, for the procreation of children and their nurture in the knowledge and love of the Lord. Therefore marriage is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently, deliberately, and in accordance with the purposes for which it was instituted by God." Then, he says a prayer, and everyone present bows their heads. "Heavenly Father, we humbly bow before you today praising You, Lord and Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask for your blessings upon Grace and Peter as we celebrate this momentous occasion in their lives. Grant them happiness and contentment, as their two lives become one, as they create a new family and explore the depths of their love for one another. Bless their families and friends and the relationships which have supported, strengthened, and sustained them throughout their lives. Bless their home as a place of love and of peace. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen."

Everyone repeats, "Amen."

"The joining of two hearts as husband and wife is a commitment like no other. It offers opportunities for sharing and for personal growth that no other human relationship can equal. A husband and wife are each other's best friends, confidants, lovers, teachers, listeners, and critics. The bond between a husband and wife deepens and enriches every facet of life. Happiness is fuller, and commitments are stronger. Marriage also encourages new life and new experiences, and finds new ways of expressing love through the ups and downs of life. Grace and Peter, as your journey begins as husband and wife, I would ask you both remember to always treat each other with respect, and remind yourselves often of what brought you here today." There's a short pause, then, "And with that, I believe you have written your own vows."

They both nod, and then another pause comes when Peter and Grace both look at each other, waiting for the other to go first. "You go first," Grace insists quietly, and Peter takes a deep breath before getting the notecards out of his pocket, eliciting a laugh from everyone present.

"Grace..." Peter starts, taking another deep breath. "It was incredibly hard for me to write these vows — and that was because it's hard to put to words... how I feel about you. What we've been through. I've loved you since I was sixteen, and I haven't stopped since. I couldn't even if I wanted to. Even after being gone those five years, after the next few where we didn't know what to do, when we were figuring things out and trying to heal, trying to navigate a world so, so different than anything we'd ever known, I never wanted to let you go. I never wanted to stop being with you. In fact, I felt closer to you than ever before after pushing through all that... well, crap." Everyone laughs at this, including Grace, who has tears in her eyes. Peter chuckles, too, then continues. "I don't know if you remember, but the night of our first kiss, I was so caught up in the moment, I told you you were everything. I meant it then, and I mean it now. You are everything to me. I know you remember that, five years ago, I promised you I would never let you go as long as you wanted me, too. And I intend to keep that promise for the rest of our lives. Grace, I love you, and I promise you I will always be there for you. I will always care for whenever you need me, and maybe even sometimes when you don't, if you don't run me off before I can." Another laugh. "I promise to build the best home I can with you, and to push through whatever difficulties come our way. I know I've said it a hundred times, but..." he gets choked up and takes a moment, and Grace reaches over and grabs his hand "...I love you, Grace. And I promise to always mean it."

Tears are streaming down Grace's face, and she lets go of his hand to get the cards from her mom, trading out her bouquet. She stands in front of Peter again and collects herself before she can begin.

"Peter... I've spent the past year, this whole day, reminding myself that this isn't a dream. I spent five, long years hoping and wishing and praying for you to be back, thinking about this moment right here while still thinking it would never come. Losing you was one of the worst moments of my life, and getting you back was one of the best — and that came right before the worst moment of my life. And even while you were grieving yourself, you were always there for me. You always supported me, helped me through. Even when everything was crazy, when things were all strange and weird and we weren't the same as before. I was worried you would get tired of it all, but you never did. I worried when we were younger, before all this happened, that you would get tired of it all, but you never did. Still I never, not once, had to question whether you loved me or not. I always knew that you did. That you do.

"For five years, even when I thought you would never come back, I never let go of you. I never stopped loving you. And I promise that I never will. I promise I will always be constant, I will always love you, even when things get hard. I promise that I will support you, and I will be there for you. I will be beside you through the rest of our lives. My dad, he told us to stick with it. To never give up, even when it gets hard. And I promise you that I will never give up. Because I love you too much to ever even think of it. And I..." she lowers her cards, not needing to glance at them now, because she didn't write this part down "...I am so grateful that I get to spend the rest of my life with you."

"I love you," Peter says quietly through his tears.

"I love you, too."

The pastor smiles, then says, "Please face one another and hold hands." Grace gives Pepper her notecards, then takes Peter's hands. The pastor continues. "Grace, do you take Peter to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, to love, honor, and cherish, in sickness and health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," she manages, crying again.

"Peter, do you take Grace to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, to love, honor, and cherish, in sickness and health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," Peter chokes out.

"May we now have the rings?"

Sammy takes that as his cue and walks over, holding the pillow high. Everyone laughs, and the pastor smiles and thanks him as he takes the rings. He holds them up while Sammy goes back to his dad.

"The ring, an unbroken circle, represents unending love. As often as either of you look upon these rings, may you be reminded of this moment and the love you have promised to one another," the pastor says, then handing a ring to Grace. "Grace, please place this ring on Peter's finger and repeat after me: Peter, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and that I'm choosing to share my life's journey with you."

"Peter," Grace says, slipping the ring on his finger, her voice still shaky, "I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and that I'm choosing to share my life's journey with you."

"I give you this ring with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, and always."

"I give you this ring with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, and always."

The pastor turns to Peter, giving him the other ring. "Peter, please place this ring on Grace's finger and repeat after me: Grace, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and that I'm choosing to share my life's journey with you."

Peter puts the ring on Grace's finger. "Grace, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and that I'm choosing to share my life's journey with you."

"I give you this ring with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, and always."

"I give you this ring with the pledge to love you today, tomorrow, and always."

"Peter and Grace, you have pledged your faith to each other in the company of your family and friends. By the power vested in me by the State of New York, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Peter, a smile on his face, steps forward, wrapping his arms around Grace as he kisses her, and Grace holds him tightly, kissing him back in utter happiness.

When they pull away, the pastor says, "Family and friends, I am proud to present for the first time as husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Parker-Stark."

Everyone cheers and some cry, and Peter takes Grace's hand and they walk up the aisle, Grace grabbing her bouquet and looking at her father's picture as she passes her mother. They go back towards the house, and Peter kisses her again outside the backdoor, both of them smiling and giddy.

"Are you ready for our dance, Mrs. Parker-Stark?" Peter asks her when he pulls away.

Grace laughs. "I was born ready, Mr. Parker-Stark."

They wait for a bit for the food to be brought outside (covered, to be opened later) and for people to take their seats at the reception, then Pepper gives them the all clear to go in to begin the first dance on the dance floor. The song, unsurprisingly, is "L O V E" by Michael Bublé. It took them about thirty seconds to choose the song back when they were planning this thing.

They sway to the music, then they get a bit fancy and do some spins. Peter is careful not to step on Grace's dress, even as he quietly sings the lyrics to her, and she laughs just as quietly and starts singing them back to him.

When the dance is over, they kiss once more, then go back to the house with the bridal party to change into their reception wear.

Meanwhile, dinner gets started for the guests outside.

The main attraction is a build your own personal pizza; the caters are standing behind the table, ready to put whatever sauces and cheeses and toppings desired on a personal-sized pizza. There's also a salad bar and a build your own pasta station, with various noodles, sauces, and toppings. Finally, they have a selection of breadsticks, then a chocolate fountain, for a pre-cake dessert (because both Peter and Grace immediately knew they wanted a chocolate fountain).

Grace and Peter, now changed, go around and greet their guests before sitting down to eat themselves.

Clint and his family are sitting at a table together, and his kids particularly enjoy the meal for the night. Mrs. Barton compliments Grace's dress sweetly, as do the kids. Clint quietly adds, "Nat would've loved this."

They managed to get Carol an invitation, and she's sitting with Fury, Maria Hill, Stephen, Wong, Bruce, and Steve.

T'Challa, Nakia (T'Challa's wife), Shuri, and Okoye, Thor, Valkyrie, and Loki (yes, he's alive, and no one is surprised) are at a table near Nebula, Gamora, Quill, Mantis, Drax, Rocket, and Groot.

Scott, his daughter Cassie, Hope, Hank, and Janet are all together, along with Ned's parents.

Pepper, May, Happy, and Rhodey are sitting at a table near the bridal party's, which has two additions of Charlotte and Betty Brant. Peter and Grace sit down after making their rounds and getting their food.

They all eat and talk, everyone enjoying themselves, then, towards the end of dinner, it's time for the toasts. Ned and Wanda determined Wanda should go first at the rehearsal dinner. She politely calls for everyone's attention, standing up from her seat with notecards in her hand.

"Hello, everyone..." she starts. "I'm Wanda Maximoff, the maid-of-honor, and I've known Grace for thirteen years now — of course, five of them I wasn't actually here for, but..." Everyone chuckles at that, and she smiles a little before she continues. "Grace has been a light for me ever since I met her. I wasn't in a good place, I didn't know what I was fighting for. And even though I had hurt her, she forgave me. We were fast friends after that.

"After everything that's happened, she's been there. Even when we all lost a lot, and she was going through her own pain, she helped me with mine. Because that's the kind of person that Grace is. She's been like a sister to me, and I will never be able to repay her, but I'm going to try.

"She is brave, caring, dedicated, loyal, and so, so loving, especially with Peter. I don't think any human being could love someone as much as she loves him. And I know he loves her just as much.

"I remember, a few years ago, after Grace started her senior year of college, she invited me over for dinner, so I came here. Peter was here, too, and it turned out that he and Grace were the ones responsible for making dinner.

"Pepper, Happy, Rhodey, May, Morgan, and I all sat in the living room while they made dinner, and we heard a number of things coming from the kitchen." There's laughter before Wanda even begins the list. "There was some laughing and some singing — and there was no music playing — there was pots banging, drawers and cabinets opening and closing, and, once, there was glass breaking. That was followed by a sharp, "Peter!" which I can still hear to this day." More laughter. "I went into the kitchen to see if they were okay, and they were both laughing. There was spaghetti sauce all over them and the floor, and Peter started cleaning it up. Grace went to help him, and he told her not to move because he didn't want her to step on the glass, and the shocking thing was that she actually listened." Everyone laughs again, including Grace and Peter. "I went to help instead, though all I could really do was try to clean wherever Peter wasn't. Grace wiped off cabinets next to her and waited until the glass was gone, and then we cleaned up the rest of it. Pepper asked them if they just wanted to order a pizza, but they said they'd do it all over again. So, they went upstairs and changed and then went back down and made the sauce all over again. And there was even more singing and laughter than before. Dinner was two hours late that night — but it was still pretty good."

She turns to Grace and Peter. "My hope for you is that you will continue with that mindset for the rest of your lives. When something goes wrong, you try again, and you do it even better than the time before — and you enjoy doing it, because you're together." She looks back at the guests. "Now, if you will, please join me in raising a glass to the newlyweds and my close friends, Grace and Peter." Everyone does so, then claps for Wanda, who passes Ned the mic before she sits down.

Ned stands. "Hi, everyone, I'm Ned, the best man. Peter and I have been friends ever since our freshman year of high school, so, safe to say, it's been a while.

"Peter has always been a good friend. He's super loyal and considerate, and he's definitely supportive. He's also a huge nerd, which gave us something in common to become friends over." The guests all laugh. "Grace, I've found, is also a nerd, and that helped them bond; I was there for a good bit of their weird text-flirting, which almost always consisted of talking about books." Again, more laughter. "I called it then that they were gonna get married, and, it definitely wasn't quite a straight shot to get here, but we're here. I should've put money on it then, but, unfortunately, I didn't.

"All jokes aside, being able to see my best friend in such a loving, great relationship is more than enough payment for predicting the future. I don't know of any two people who were made for each other more than Grace and Peter. And I also don't know of anything that could come between them. They've been through almost anything and everything imaginable — including a weird, evil guy with a fishbowl on his head. That was... well, a bad trip, to say the least." More laughter. "I've had the privilege of watching them work as a team through everything from fighting bad guys and saving lives to making dinner and doing homework. And, sometimes, they made the latter seem more difficult than the former." Still more laughter. "No matter what they're doing, though, you can tell they're meant to be together. They're a team, and they both inspire me every day I see them. You guys are the best. Here's to you, and a long, happy, crime-fighting marriage." Everyone toasts, and then claps for Ned, who hands the mic to Grace.

"This might all be a little out of order — trust me, we know-" she says "- but, now, my dad is going to make his own speech. I know some of you may have heard this before but... well, we wanted him to be a part of the ceremony." She looks at Pepper, who presses play on the recording, and Tony appears, halfway through his just-in-case spiel.

"And last but not least — Grace. I'm sure you already heard but, even though you're twenty two and I'm supposedly not the boss of you anymore, you're still my little girl. Always have been, always will be. You dealt with the best and some of the worst of me, I'm afraid. You made me better. You saved me. That's why I named you Grace, remember? And I'm just trying to save you, and... well, I might have to... go to do that, but... it's not on you, okay? It's not on you or anybody else, it's on me. Or Thanos. Either one...

"Anyway, I know this'll be hard, but you'll get through it. You're strong. You're stubborn. So don't let this get you down — at least, not for long. Get out and see the world. I know you haven't been able to for a while now, and I want you to. Because if this new world is better than how it is now, I shouldn't worry too much, right? You'll be okay. And you're... well, you're capable now. You can fight your battles. You don't need me to protect you from them, especially when you got backup. And speaking of... Peter. If he's back — which I hope he is, he should be — stay with him. I'm sure I don't have to tell you twice, but... He's a good kid — he's a great kid — and he makes you happy. You make him happy. He's one of the smartest kids I've ever met, aside from Harley — you should introduce them by the way, if the universe wouldn't explode. He's also really, really selfless. To the point where you might have to stop him from being too reckless in his whole 'saving the world' thing.

"And Pete — because I know you're seeing this, too, since you must be back — I just want you to keep being you. That's all I ask. Keep being that friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Keep being as kind and good and brave as you are. Don't lose that. Same goes for Harley; don't lose who you are, don't lose the best parts. You've grown into a kind, good, intelligent young man, and I'm proud of you. Oh, and, I'm sorry I won't be there for the wedding — if you're watching this, I won't, anyway. I'm sending all my love. Hannah's good for you." He grimaces. "Man, this is sappy.

"Look, the point is, just... stick with it. Grace, I know how much you love Peter, so stay with him. Even if gets hard because, well, it will. Love is hard sometimes. It's wonderful but it's hard. So don't give up. When the going gets tough, don't give up. I don't think either of you will, but just in case, you know?" He sighs, then stands from his projected chair, seemingly walking over to where Grace is. "I love you three thousand, too, sweetheart, even if you only love me five. Don't forget that."

Grace wipes the tears from her eyes, and Peter reaches over to help her. The guests clap for Tony, and then, after a moment, Pepper clears the air. "And on that note, it's time for cake."

It's a tall cake, as it's a stack of books with blue flowers and gold leaves going up it, where there's a cake topper of a bride and a groom reading together. They picked the titles of the books themselves.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Fault in Our Stars, Pride and Prejudice, Marriage for Dummies, and The Great Gatsby (of course).

They cut the cake, which is a feat in and of itself, then look at each other with challenging eyes for a few moments, both knowing they're going to smash cake in the other's face.

"I think if any of us should get cake smashed in their face, it's you," Grace says.

Peter raises a brow, amused. "And why is that?"

"You smashed cake in my face on my sixteenth birthday. I never got you back."

He laughs. "Well, now's your chance."

She looks at him a moment more, then goes for it.

He turns his head, and it gets all over his cheek, some even getting in his eyebrow and on his collar. Sam, standing nearby, goes, "You got it on me!"

Peter quickly retaliates, smushing cake all over Grace's face. "It's in my nose!" she shouts, stepping back and laughing.

Once they're both cleaned up, they serve the cake to their guests, then have some themselves, and then it's time for the father-daughter dance.

Happy and Grace start, dancing to "What a Wonderful World" (Happy's choice). He starts tearing up almost immediately, and it makes Grace start crying, too.

Then, Peter and May do the mother-son dance to "Here Comes the Sun", which is just as emotional. May can't stop telling Peter how proud she is of him and the man he's become, and telling him how good he and Grace are for each other, and just crying over how grown up he is. And of course it all just makes Peter cry.

After that, while they dry their eyes, Rhodey steps up. "I know you're all ready to dance, but we have one more song to go." Grace laughs at him, and then steps up to do the last father-daughter dance with him. "Isn't She Lovely" starts to play, and they begin to dance. Rhodey smiles. "You ready for this?"

"The question is, do you remember the choreography?"

"Every step."

The song abruptly cuts to "Sweet Child O' Mine", and Grace and Rhodey begin the choreographed dance they've been learning over the past month. Only themselves, Happy, and Pepper knew about it.

The dance, which is a crowd favorite, ends with a fist bump.

"Now, we can all dance..." Rhodey says into the mic, but Grace shakes her head and he adds "... right after the bouquet toss."

Grace goes to the front of the dance floor to toss her bouquet, and all the unmarried ladies gather behind her. Most — Carol, Maria, Valkyrie, Nebula, Gamora, MJ, and Wanda — have to be pushed, but others — Lila, Morgan, Shuri, Mantis, and Betty — go excitedly.

Grace tosses the bouquet, then turns just in time to see it go straight for Gamora, who catches it on instinct. Quill immediately shouts, "Yes!"

Gamora sighs. "He's never going to shut up about this."

Finally, Grace takes the mic and says, "Now, it's time to dance. And to start us off is one of Dad's favorite songs."

"Back in Black" plays over the speakers, and people begin dancing. Grace finds Peter, who looks astonished. "I can't believe you didn't tell me you and Rhodey were going to do that."

"I mean, it was supposed to be a surprise, so I'd say I did what I intended to do."

They dance and mingle for what feels like hours before Happy and Rhodey start loading all the presents into Happy's car, in order to take them to the new house when they unload all the boxes. Pepper and May take Grace and Peter's suitcase to Peter's car, then get the bubbles ready to hand out to the guests.

Finally, they corral everyone into two lines towards the front of the house, where Peter's car is. The groomsmen have so kindly decorated it with streamers and paint on the back windshield. Grace and Peter walk through bubbles to the car to head to the hotel they're staying at for the night.

Pepper hugs Grace goodbye. "Be safe, okay? You have Savior with you, right?"

"Of course I do," Grace replies, teary-eyed. "We'll be fine."

She and Peter say goodbye to Happy, Rhodey, May, Morgan, and all their guests, then they hop in the car to go to the hotel near the airport. The radio is playing a song Grace doesn't recognize, but she likes it, even if she's not really listening to it. The AC hits her like a breeze, and the trees pass by the window.

"How do you feel?" she asks Peter.

He thinks for a moment. "You know that one High School Musical song?"

She laughs. "I'm serious."

"I am, too. It's the start of something of new."

"But it's the end of something, too."

"True," Peter says. "But I don't regret that it ended."

"I don't either." Grace takes his free hand. "I love you, Peter."

"I love you, too, Grace."
