Breaking Out
Grace's POV*
"I can't believe my husband and our best friend locked me in this damn basement," I snap as I fall back on the sofa. My eyes roam the room looking for anything I can use to pick the lock on the door, there's nothing, not so much as a paperclip. I walk over to the desk hoping I will find something, anything, I find nothing.
"Who the hell doesn't have one single paper clip, or a freaking key in a desk, damn it?"
"Mrs. Nelson, are you alright down there?" I hear Carl's voice at the door. I decide this is my chance and I run up the steps.
"Carl, is that you?"
"Yes, Mrs. Nelson. Are you alright? Are you getting hungry?" He asks me and I grin.
"Carl, I'm not feeling well at all. I feel...I feel,-"
"Mrs. Nelson, what's wrong?" I push the wooden sled down the steps in hopes he will think it's me. I step to the side. The door swings open hitting me.
"Uhh" I moan out. Carl peeks around the door and I grab his shirt moving him out of the way. His eyes widen as he sees me slamming the door shut.
"Shit, Mrs. Nelson, please, the boss will have my head if you go after them."
"My husband will not fire you Carl, I won't let him. I'll take the heat for this. Do you know where Prince and Jerome went? I'll tell you exactly where they went, to get our son from two kidnapping lunatics. I have been without my son long enough, and if I have to break some rules and piss off my husband to be able to finally be reunited with my son, then that's a price I'm willing to pay.
"With all respect, Mrs. Nelson, you haven't exactly seen your husband, my boss at his angriest, and trust me when I say, you do not want to see him at his angriest. He might be on the short side, but he does have a huge temper and when he loses it, there is no reasoning with him. He will have my head on a silver platter, and although he would never physically hurt you, he will think of what he will consider an appropriate punishment for you.
"Carl, do you really expect me to sit here and hope for the best? Let me ask you this, would Prince be so willing to sit here and hope for the best? I already know the answer, I might not know him as well as you and Jerome, but I have known him long enough to know not even hell would stop him from going out there looking for his son. What my stubborn husband needs to understand is I'm a mother first, then his wife."
"That's a big part why he loves you so much, Mrs. Nelson. He sees what a wonderful mother you are, but I know he would not want you going out there and risking your safety, or your freedom. He's already lost so much. I'm begging you, please, stop and think about this. If something happens to you, Grace, it would kill him, and your kids would have to grow up without their mother."
"Well, I see you managed to figure out a way to break out of the basement," Prince's voices bellows. I turn around to see him holding Dalton, I fall to my knees sobbing with joy.
"I told you I would bring our son home, Grace,"
"Oh my god, you saved our baby boy," I cry. He places Dalton in my arms and hugs us.
"Look at him, Prince, he looks so much like you."
"He has his mother's dimples. And look how beautiful his complexion is," Prince smiles.
"Well, he is the perfect combination of his parents. Every part of him is so beautiful," I sniffle. Prince kisses my forehead.
"When I first picked him up, I swore to him I would never let him out of my sight and I would never let anyone else hurt him. I already know I won't be able to sleep till we get a lot more security. I hate knowing that our kids will have to grow up surrounded by body guards, security guards right out-side of the house, but I will do whatever I have to do in order to keep you and our kids safe."
"I know, I hate it too, but what we just went through with Dalton, we can't take any unnecessary chances with the kids. I understand why we have to do this," he kisses me and grins.
"Grace?"
"Yes, baby?"
"How the hell did you convince Carl to let you out of the basement?" His stern voice asks me.
"I, um, well,-"
"Boss, is that you?" Carl shouts.
"Carl? Oh my god, Grace, you locked him in the basement?"
"Damn it, yes, okay?"
"Grace, take Dalton upstairs, I need to have a chat with Carl. You need to know he has always been my most honest, and loyal employee, so if I were you, I'd start praying now. I know damn well you somehow tricked him into letting you out of the basement."
"Can you blame me? My husband and my son were out there with a psychotic, kidnapping lunatic."
"Get upstairs, now, Grace. You wait for me in our room. I will be up there very soon," his harsh voice orders. I look back at him and he winks at me.
"You know I will never physically harm you, but girl, you have one hell of a punishment coming your way.
"Boss, I'm okay, Mrs. Nelson was just worried about you and little boss," he says causing me to chuckle.
"Carl, how the hell did my wife manage to lock you in the basement?"
"I pushed the wooden sled down the steps letting Carl think it was me, he opened the door to make sure I was okay, when he peeked around the door I grabbed the front of his shirt and pushed him to the side, I then proceeded to shut and lock him in the basement," she says behind me. I slowly turn to face her.
"Well, aren't you just the creative little vixen?" I calmly say as I walk away from her.
"Prince, where are you going?" I turn back around and grin.
"To think of an appropriate punishment for your sneaky ass."
"Oh my, see, I told you, he would never physically harm you, but he will think of an appropriate punishment for you."
"Carl, zip it, I'm already nervous enough."
"And rightly so, baby, I can also get very creative," I shout from the kitchen."
"Prince, where the hell are you? You remember me telling you not to give me a reason to arrest your ass, guess what? You're under arrest,"
"Jerome, why are you arresting my husband?"
"Because, Grace, he locked me in the basement in the house Heather was at with Dalton."
"Really, is that so? Prince? Ever hear of karma? He's in the kitchen, Jerome. I'm going upstairs to feed Dalton."
"Grace Marie Nelson, I can't believe you're being so calm about Jerome wanting to arrest me."
"Aw baby, don't you worry, as soon as we both get enough time to calm down, I'll come and bail you out."
"When?"
"I don't know, how long you plan on staying mad at me?" She asks, I lunge at her, Jerome grabs my arms and handcuffs me.
"Mmm, you are looking pretty sexy with those handcuffs on, Prince," she smirks.
"Really, Grace? This is turning you on? Okay baby, I'll remember that when I'm punishing you."
