After Thor follows the thing — it really needs a name — Steve turns to everyone else. "Three minutes. Get what you need."

Grace looks at Tony as everyone else clears out, and he shakes his head, gently saying, "No. You're not going."

She sighs. "I figured as much."

He seems surprised. "Really? Just like that?"

"I had a little talk with Fury," she replies. "Although, I could go and help, just... I don't know, stay kinda out of the way. Maybe be a distraction again. Whatever I can do."

Tony shakes his head again, gently. "No. No, Ultron will definitely be there, and we need to play it safe."

Grace frowns. "Yeah, I understand... I still don't wanna stay here by myself, though." Sitting here, worrying about them all while trying — and definitely failing — to distract herself sounds like absolute torture.

"I'll try to contact Fury, see what he can do."

"Okay. Thanks, Dad."

He hugs her, then turns and starts to go suit up, and Grace goes the other way, looking for the thing. She's trying to think of a name for it — or is it him? — what is it? Who knows.

She finds it talking to Thor outside, on a platform she can't reach without Savior. Wanda is watching them, almost with a look of curiosity. But she turns when she hears Grace's footsteps.

Grace comes to stand next to her, looking at Thor and the thing. Wanda turns back to them awkwardly. Finally, Grace says, "Kinda freaky, isn't it?"

Wanda seems surprised at Grace making conversation. "What?"

"The... thing. Or whatever it is."

"Oh," Wanda replies. She hesitates. "No, I... I would not call him 'freaky.' He is... remarkable."

Grace shrugs. "Yeah, I guess. I'm trying to think of a name for it- him. It'd just be easier if we had something to call him."

Wanda nods, and they both go quiet again. What she showed Grace weighs heavily on her mind — she saw it, of course. She saw them all. Finally, she says, "I'm sorry."

"You kinda already told me that," Grace replies gently.

"Not just for what I did, but... for everything."

Grace looks over at her, then. "What do you mean?"

"I saw what you saw," Wanda explains. "And I'm sorry."

Grace sighs. "Don't be. I'm learning from it all. Maybe I needed it."

After a few more moments of comfortable silence, Wanda leaves, going to get suited up for the fight to come. So, Grace resigns herself to thinking of a name for the thing. She thinks back on the conversation they all had after he first came out of the Cradle.

Then, she gets an idea.

When he and Thor come back inside, they spot her instantly. "Stark isn't letting you go, is he?" Thor asks with a hint of worry.

"Nope," Grace replies. "But I might get to hang out with Fury again."

Thor chuckles before walking off. "Good luck."

She looks at the thing, following him as he begins to walk off too, though not with Thor. "How do you feel about 'Vision'?" she asks.

"What?" he says, confused.

"You need a name, so I came up with one — well, technically, Steve did-"

"Vision," he says, testing out the word. "Yes, that will do." He looks down at her. "Thank you, small one."

"My name is Grace."

"You can give me a name, can I not give you one too?"

Grace considers for a moment. "Well, the Stark family is particularly fond of nicknames, so sure, I guess."

They pass Tony, Steve, and Bruce as they sit, talking about the battle to come.

"I get first crack at the big guy," Tony says. "Iron Man's the one he's waiting for."

"That's true, he hates you the most," Vision butts in.

Not long after, everyone meets at the Quinjet, including Grace. Tony hugs her. "I got to Fury. He's sending Hill to come get you."

"Okay," Grace says. She hugs him again, trying not to think about the fact that this could be the last time she does so. "Be careful. Please."

"I will, sweetheart. I love you."

"I love you too."

Then, she hugs Bruce, Steve, Thor, and Clint. Vision stands apart, watching, so she holds a fist out to him. He just looks at her, confused.

"Make a fist," she says. He does so, then she grabs his wrist and hits his fist against hers. "And now we've come full circle," she says, thinking of Rhodey.

Vision's still confused as she walks away, looking at Wanda and Pietro, who are standing off to the side. After a moment's hesitation, she walks up to Wanda and hugs her. It's another, 'It's okay,' to Wanda's apology. And as Wanda gingerly hugs back, Grace is pretty sure she gets the message this time.

Then, she looks at Pietro. Minutely, he raises a brow at her. Already blushing, she gently hugs him too. He ruffles her hair when she steps back, smiling a little. "Be safe, Iron Child."

She rolls her eyes, though her face is beet red. "I should be saying that to you, Roadrunner." Then, she looks at all of them. "Do me a favor and find my self defense instructor, okay? Oh, and, by the way, his name-" she points to Vision "- is Vision. And, no, it cannot be changed."

Hill showed up in an official, government-looking car, which took off at what felt like the speed of light after Grace got in the passenger seat.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"The Helicarrier," Hill replied. "Safest place you could be right now. You got your suit?"

"Yeah," Grace said, fiddling with her bracelet. "But if the Helicarrier is the safest place I can be, then why would I need it?"

"Just in case. You always wanna be prepared."

"Okay," Grace said simply. Then, she remembered something. "Wait... isn't the Helicarrier a Shield thing?"

Well, it was, and they reached it rather quickly. Once on board, Grace met Fury, who smiled at her. "There's some secure rooms in this place where you can wait it all out."

"Wait what out?" Grace asked.

"Whatever mess is about to transpire. I'm just gonna go ahead and head to Sokovia now, considering I know they're gonna need help in one way or another."

"Well, if you can use me, I brought my suit," Grace replied, holding up her wrist to show him her bracelet.

Fury smiled wider. "I thought so. Which is why I have a job for you."

When the Helicarrier arrives, the entire city is in the air — high in the air. Grace is standing with Fury, suited up. Rhodey is around somewhere, ready to join the fight too; Grace saw him on the way to Sovokia.

Natasha's voice comes over the comms when they get close enough. "I didn't say we should leave... There's worse ways to go. Where else am I gonna get a view like this?"

"Glad you like the view, Romanoff," Fury says, smirking. "It's about to get better." There's a long pause as the Helicarrier rises to be level with Sokovia. "Nice, right? I pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."

Steve sighs. "Fury, you son of a-"

"Cap!" Grace warns. "There are children present. Children being about half of the Avengers."

"Who's on what half?" Steve asks curiously.

"If you have to ask, then you know."

Tony sighs. "We don't have time for this. Grace, what are you doing?"

"Helping you get the civilians on board the Helicarrier so you can blow the city and Ultron apart. Obviously."

"And Sai's flying you out if something happens?"

"Mhm," Sai says. Grace echoes that to Tony.

"Alright, fine. But stay far away from Ultron."

"That I can do," Grace replies.

Hill, who's sitting at a nearby computer, says, "Altitude is eighteen thousand and climbing."

"Lifeboats secure to deploy," an agent says. "Disengage in three, two... take 'em out."

The lifeboats deploy, stopping at the edge of Sovokia, ready to take the civilians to safety.

Pietro's voice comes over the comms, causing Grace to smile. "This is SHIELD?"

"This is what SHIELD's supposed to be," Steve replies.

"This is not so bad."

"Let's load 'em up." Fury nods at Grace, so she gets outside and flies off the Helicarrier, searching for civilians.

"How many can I carry at once?" Grace asks.

"One adult or maybe two small children," Sai replies.

Grace sighs. "It's something. I'll try to direct them to the boats; I can probably save more that way."

"Good plan."

She lands next to some civilians and points them towards the life boats, telling them they'll take them to safety. They readily run for them, and Grace searches for more.

"Sir, we have multiple bogies converging on our starboard flank," Hill says over comms.

"Show 'em what we got," Fury says.

"You're up."

"Yes!" Rhodey shouts soon after. "Now this is gonna be a good story."

"Yep. If you live to tell it," Tony replies. Grace can tell they've found each other.

She finds the rest of the team, where the larger crowd of civilians are.

"Alright, let's load 'em up! Alright, here we go. Here we go, let's move. Let's go everyone!" Steve's saying. He sees Grace and nods at her, smiling a little. She nods back.

"Number six boat is topped and locked," an agent says over comms. "Or, uh, or stocked, topped. It-It's, uh, full of people."

"Incoming!" Maria shouts. Grace hears a crash and gun shots, but reminds herself to focus on the task at hand. That Helicarrier is filled with agents, including Nick Fury, who have much more skill and experience than she does. She's not needed there where she won't be to do much: she's needed here.

She guides people into the life boats, trying to fill them up as quickly as she can. She looks at Steve. "Is anybody going to search the rest of the city for stragglers?"

Steve shakes his head. "We'll worry about that. You do what you're doing. I'm pretty sure this everyone, though."

"I'll do a scan just in case," Sai says. After a moment, she continues. "I don't detect any, but there's a lot going on, and it's a big city. I could've missed someone."

"Thor, I got a plan!" Tony suddenly shouts.

"We're out of time," Thor replies. "They're coming for the core."

"Rhodey, get the rest of the people on board that carrier. Grace, get on one of the boats."

"On it," Rhodey replies.

"Not until the civilians are all on board," Grace says. "I can fly, remember? I'll get out in time."

"Then finish up with that boat and follow Rhodey," Tony replies. "Avengers, time to work for a living."

Grace fills up the boat, then lifts off, following Rhodey's lead back to the Helicarrier.

The Avengers continue talking over comms as they battle Ultron. It sounds like it's going pretty well. Tony, Thor, and Vision blast Ultron, then Hulk punches him into oblivion. Then, Ultron's bots start to retreat.

"They're trying to leave the city," Thor says.

"We can't let 'em, not even one. Rhodey!" Tony shouts.

"I'm on it," Rhodey says, flying towards the bots.

"Dad?" Grace asks.

"Do what you can, but don't push it," Tony replies. "Sai, Rhodey, don't let her push it."

"I won't," Sai says.

"Got it." Rhodey turns to the bots. "Oh, no, I didn't say you could leave. War Machine, comin' at you, right-" Vision flies through, helping to destroy the bots. "Okay, what?"

"That's Vision," Grace says, flying up next to Rhodey. "He's Jarvis, but he's not Jarvis. Oh, and he can lift Thor's hammer."

"What?"

"We gotta move out," Steve says. "Even I can tell the air is getting thin. You guys get to the boats, I'll sweep for stragglers, be right behind you."

"What about the core?" Clint asks.

"I'll protect it," Wanda says. "It's my job."

Grace hovers near the lifeboats, watching to make sure everyone gets on. Clint and Natasha pull up in a car. Clint gets on a boat, then Nat leaves, probably going to get Bruce.

But then Clint gets out of the boat, running at something.

"Grace, come on," Rhodey says. "We gotta load a boat onto the carrier."

Grace flies off with him, reminding herself that Clint knows what he's doing, and she can't do anything to help him — especially when she doesn't even know what he's doing.

"Thor, I'm gonna need you back in the church," Tony says.

Thor asks, "Is this the last of them?" He's talking about the civilians.

"Yeah. Everyone else is on the carrier," Steve replies.

"You know, if this works, we maybe don't walk away," Tony says.

"Maybe not," Thor says.

"I don't appreciate that kind of talk," Grace reminds them from the carrier. She tries to push it to the back of her mind.

She looks back at Sokovia, seeing if the last lifeboat is on its way over to the carrier. Instead, she sees an eruption of red — Wanda's magic — from the church. Hulk jumps onto the Helicarrier, on the other side, then sets someone down. It looks like Nat. He jumps back onto Sokovia, then springs into the air, landing in a jet. Ultron is soon flung out of it.

And then the city drops.

"Dad!" Grace shouts, reaching for it as if that would do anything.

"I got it!" Tony says, strained. The city's fall slows, and the last lifeboat starts to head for the Helicarrier.

"Thor, on my mark," Tony says. There's a blast of lighting, then, "Now!"

Then, the city explodes. Grace's heart clenches as she helps unload the lifeboat. Steve and Clint are on it. Clint looks like a wreck.

That's when she notices Pietro is on it too. But his clothes are riddled with holes, and he's bleeding. He's laying on the floor, on his back, and his eyes are open, and he's staring up at the sky. At nothing.

"No," Grace whispers. Tears well up in her eyes, but she breathes, reminding herself that she'll have time to cry later. She needs to focus. Still, tears roll down her cheeks.

She helps the rest if the civilians, then Clint out of the lifeboat, then looks down at Pietro. The last one in the boat. Rhodey goes in and gets him out.

"He saved me," Clint says numbly. "He... He saved me."
