Description

Derek couldn't hide the amusement from his eyes as he let his gaze run over my face as if trying to take me all in. He had leaned in closer to me and I found myself unconsciously leaning back, not because I was scared of him in that moment but because I didn't want him so close to me that he could pick out all my little flaws.

To my absolute horror, he had grabbed a hold of my hand where it rested on my lap and placed it under his hoodie, right at the waistband of his jeans. My eyes had widened, first, at the feeling of his warm, smooth skin beneath my fingertips and then again at the feeling of a cool, metallic object that sat snugly between his jeans and his body.

A gun.

“Before any of them would be able to get close enough to hurt you, I'd have already emptied these bullets into them.”

Morgan is an enigma.

With a stone cold gaze and an even colder heart, it seems like nobody's able to break through the barriers she's built up around herself. That is until Derek, a man who is as much of a mystery as she is, comes barrelling his way into her life and turning everything she's ever known on its head.

Everything is telling her to stay away; there's no future for those that associate with people like him who have their hands soiled in crime and blood, yet the more she pulls away, the closer she finds herself coming to him.

With her life in danger and Derek being the only way out, she finds she has no other choice but to put all her trust in him, but they both have more secrets than they can count and together, they must find out if their unlikely relationship is worth the death and the heartbreak it will bring or if it was all for nothing. Can they save each other?
