Saving Alice

1900's: discrimination against black people are worse then ever. This a story about a black orphan who struggles to save the people she loves in a world of hate and anger.

They killed my friends. And now they have taken her away too. They are going to destroy humanity. Looking around, I see the blood shed: it starts of my anger like an erupting volcano. I am one in a black sea that is drying out. We are killed for one reason and one reason only: we are black!

Angry and frustrated, I grit my teeth. I need to save my friend, Alice, other wise they will kill her like they have killed hundreds before her. Stomach churning, I slowly make my journey towards the prison where they are keeping her hostage. Hoping to go unnoticed , I run through the dirty streets but it is in vain as the white people spot me leaving.

They try to catch me but I am an agile runner and my speed is no match for their sluggish movements.

Clenching my fist, I stagger through dark allies, stumbling on twigs and sharp rocks. The thunder rumbles in the inky black sky and fat drops freeze me to the bone. The world is crying and so; I am too. Nobody could survive the journey to the holding cells- especially a fragile, under-nourished black orphan like me. Still, my determination drives me. I carry on: ploughing through acres of once green fields, swimming through fierce rivers and doggedly climbing colossal trees...

I watched from my hiding place, a small space between the rotting bins and dirty walls. they grabbed her thin wiry wrists. We had been on the run for over a month now but we knew that our freedom would finally come to an end. "Your execution will be in three weeks" growled a menacing voice, " If you don't co-operate, you will die sooner so I suggest that you follow my orders correctly." I didn't wait for them to find me. I ran as fast as my legs would carry me: I hoped they wouldn't catch me...
