"Violet Berry!" The woman says my name.
I freeze in fear and just when the peacekeepers touch me, I hear her voice.
"I volunteer as a tribute!"

"No!!" I yell as I wake up.
I look around realizing that it was just a dream, the real nightmare is happening right now.

I take a bite of my bread. Where should I go next?
I then spot someone coming, it wasn't Micah for sure but Sabrina.

I don't want to risk my life so I climb down the mountain. I then ran in the opposite direction to where she was.

After a few minutes, I spot the Cornucopia realizing that I am ran quite far away.

Suddenly, I feel someone pushing me on the ground.

I see face of Lena from District 2. She had sword right on my neck.
"Hi there."
"Where did you get that sword from?" I asked.
"One waterfall had surprises in the cave. Too bad you won't see them."
"Speak for yourself."
I kick Lena off me with all my strength. She then fall into the lake, I hold her in the water and then stab her in the heart.

A cannon sounded.

I had her blood on my hands, it took me a second to realize what I have done.

I have killed a human.

I killed a 13 year old Lena from District 2.
I can imagine her family and friends breaking down right now and hating me with burning passion. I killed someone's daughter, maybe sister, friend.

I try not to show my panic and get my thoughts together.
I go through Lena's body to see if she has anything. I don't need the sword so I let it be taken by the hovercraft.

No time to cry, I will have plenty of time to be guilty if I win.

Now I know that there's a cave with weapons which is probably for District 2. But the one that I got to in the end of the day was marked with number 12. It was getting late so it was no time for being picky.

I went inside remainding myself that District 12 products coal. I was suprised to see a lot of caves inside one cave. This was pleasing because I can hide easily.

I sat on the ground and took a bite of my bread. The water from the lake is safe to drink so I don't have to worry about thirst. Just when I went calm, I heard a canon.

I got alarmed, took my knife and went outside the cave. But there was no sign of anyone.
Going back inside I started thinking of who it could be.
Was is Micah? Sabrina? Another career? That girl from 12?
The only way to find out of to wait until midnight.

Next day arrived and I ate breakfast in the cave. I'm a little tried of eating only bread for so long. Is there meat on the arena. I started thinking of Districts that could have meat.
District 10 products livestock, maybe near that waterfall there will be something? But then on the other hand there can be real bulls there ready to kill me.

I crawl out of the cave and see the waterfall in the distance. I start walking there but see some blue butterflies.
At first I thought they were harmless but then I spotted someone lying on the ground.
Their face felt familiar, it took me a minute to realise that,

It was Micah.

I ran up and shake him.
"Micah!" I yell but no answer.
He was completely unconscious but not dead, I could feel his heartbeat.
He has a bow and arrows with him but no visible injuries. What happened to him?

I grab him by his arm, I need to transport him to the District 12 cave. His body is heavy but I keep dragging by the arm to the waterfall.

When I finally take him there, I have to sit down to catch a breath.

I then realized the reason of Micah's unconsciousness, the butterflies.

I remember reading about them in a book about animals from different districts. My mum got me it for my birthday, she knows nothing about my interests but I read it anyway.
The butterflies were called 'coma butterflies' those were little insects that live in District 5. They put a person into a deep sleep, it lasts for different amounts of time depending on how much they have bit you.

It mean that Micah is going to survive, at least I think he will.

All I can do now is wait.

It's getting darker and darker. I almost fall asleep when I hear screaming from the outside. I take my knife and go outside, I am willing to risk my life for the only person that cares about me.
I see two of the careers, a girl from 1 and a boy from 2. On the ground there was a girl from five, the careers were beating her up like crazy. There were more like animals than humans.
They were hitting her with the swords and slam her head on the ground. When the girl stopped moving, they started breaking her bones. Legs, arms and then spine. Her canon sounded but that didn't stop them from anything. In the end the boy cut of five's head, hands and legs.

The fear, shock and disgust froze me. Couple minutes after the pair left, I threw up on the ground.
How? How a human can be so cruel?
I then notice something on the ground after the hovercraft take five's body away.

A small bottle.

But it didn't have water inside,
it was wine.
