Chapter Four- Vanilla Cake

Chapter Four

I jolted awake at the sound of loud banging coming from the other side of my bedroom door. I quickly got up rushing towards the noise and opening the door, revealing my dad standing in front of me with a bored look on his face.

"I'm going to be out of town for a few days. This house better stay spotless." He warned, glaring down at me with his permanent anger filled eyes. I nodded my head softly and looked down at my feet, not wanting to make eye contact with the man who caused me so much physical and emotional torment.

"W-where are you going?" I asked, lifting my head up. Trying to make some form of conversation. I know he hurt me, and I know he was a horrible person. But a part of me still longed for the way he treated me when I was younger. The way he gave me so much love before my mom passed away. I still remember being taken to the ice-cream shop every Friday when he would pick me up from preschool, taking me shopping for a new stuffed animal when I would lose my old one. They way he use to lift me up on his shoulders when we would go out for a stroll at a strip mall or park. The way he would randomly come in my room and offer to play dolls with me while Yoongi tried to rip the heads off of my Barbies and put them on his G.I Joes.

"It is none of your business." My father stated flatly as he continued to walk away. I closed my door and sighed, why did he have to be so cruel to me. My mother's death had a huge impact on him, bigger than any grief counselor or family member could have imagined. He changed completely. Like a switch was flipped and took over his emotions and physical being. I think the reason he hates me so much is because I am an exact replica of my mother. My parents started dating at age 15, and now that I am 18 I look just like her when she was this age.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I felt my phone vibrate in my hand. I took it out and looked down and the text message I had from Yoongi.

I read the message and thought about what I should do. Of course I wanted to hangout with them ... see Namjoon. But what if my dad came home early or called me and I didn't answer? I didn't want to be punished again for wanting to have fun. At the same time though, he did say he'd be gone for a few days. Ah fuck it, I deserve to enjoy myself.

I put my phone down to charge on my night stand and went down stairs as soon as I heard my dad's car pull out of the driveway. I let out a groan as I felt the stabbing pain coming from my ribs. I lifted my shirt up slightly and stared down at the purple bruise under my ribs. It was raw and almost the size of my fist. I pulled my shirt back down and decided to try and ignore the pain. I entered the living room and plopped down onto the soft grey couch, turning on the T.V with my remote. I flipped through the channels and settled for a random movie that was playing. I didn't get too far into the movie before I started to feel sleepy. I really needed to catch up on my lack of sleep, so I decided to submit to my body's wishes.

YOONGI'S POV

I mouthed my part of "Run" as the boys danced behind me, watching themselves in the mirror. We transitioned into the chorus where Jimin is in the front leading his part. I eyed him carefully as I followed with the choreography. His face looked so serious and engulfed in what he was doing. His fluffy grey hair was sticking to his forehead with the sweat that was caused by our constant rehearsing. As if on cue, he caught my stare through the mirror sending me a quick smirk before he turned and I was now back in the front. His hand softly brushed my side during his move to the back, and my face began to feel warm. We finished up the choreography to Run and I grabbed my water bottle, taking a big sip to calm down my thirstiness...which wasn't just from the exercise.

"I'll be back, I need to use the bathroom." I overheard Jimin say as he got up from the floor. He quickly looked over at me and made a tiny head movement and headed off to the bathroom. I looked around, making sure no one was paying attention to me, and began to walk out of the practice room, following Jimin's path. I was stopped by a deep voice calling for my name.

"Yoongi hyung!" I turned around and noticed Namjoon looking at me with a straight face. He motioned me to come over so I did as he asked, mentally cursing myself for the horrible timing.

"We are done for today, but next rehearsal we need to work on everyone's transitions for silver spoon. You did good on Run, but if you need extra help, J-Hope and Jimin should be fine with helping you out. I know I definitely need the help." He laughed as he watched the practice video. I nodded my head and turned around to face the bathroom.

"You good? If you need to use the bathroom go use it!" Namjoon laughed as he hit my arm jokingly. I laughed with him and awkwardly ran my hand through my hair. I started to walk towards the bathroom in search of Jimin.

"Jimin?" I called casually, incase we had members from our staff lurking around. I pushed the door to the bathroom open and smirked as I saw Jimin leaning against the sink countertops. I looked him up and down, taking in his appearance. A few strands of his hair were stuck to his forehead, and his white t shirt clung to his chest nicely.

"Yoongiiiii," he whined as he walked towards me and pulled me into a tight hug. Even though he was sweaty, all I could smell was his sweet cologne.

"What's wrong?" I asked seriously as I rubbed his back while he clung to me. He pulled away from my hug and looked me in my eyes. Damn ... he is so beautiful. He slowly leaned forward, a few inches away from my lips and I huffed in excitement. The last time we got to enjoy each other was yesterday afternoon while we were at the studio. We did spend most of our time working, but the end was filled with slow make out sessions. I know it was only yesterday, but I could never get enough of him.

Jimin all of a sudden pulled away and rushed towards the sink once he heard the bathroom door open. I stood there confused like an idiot and just watched Jimin as he pretended to wash his hands.

"Oh are we having a party in here?" Hoseok joked as he walked towards the bathroom stall. I rolled my eyes and walked out of the bathroom. Once again, PERFECT timing. None of the band members knew about our relationship, we tried to keep it as lowkey as possible and for the most part it worked. It was pretty easy for me to pretend but Jimin had a harder time with it> He constantly wanted to show skinship and be with me 24/7, which made me feel really bad because I loved when he did. But the standards of South Korea would look down upon us, especially since we were idols. We had to keep this hidden, no matter how hard it was.

Once I got back into our rehearsal studio, I pulled out my phone and decided to call Y/N and let her know that our practice was over.

Y/N POV

I woke up to the sound of my familiar ringtone. Looking over to my side I grabbed my phone and put it to my ear, not bothering to look at the caller i.d.

"Hello?" I asked, a yawn escaping my mouth.

"Get ready. We are picking you up in a bit." Yoongi's voice filled the receiver and I smiled, answering him with an "ok"  then ending the call.

Even though I met the boys yesterday, I was super excited to see them again. They were such a sweet group of guys and they gave me a sense of comfort. I smiled and made my way up to my room to get ready for the day. I made my way into the bathroom and could see the bruises on my collarbone and on the side of my neck. I shut my eyes tightly and took a deep breathe.

"It's going to be okay ... I'm going to be okay." I told myself. I opened my eyes and began my normal routine of brushing my teeth, washing my face, and doing my hair. Once I finished with everything I went back to my room and searched for my outfit. I decided to settle with a black and white floral short sleeved blouse which I covered with a jean jacket to hide my bruised arms. I slipped on some light washed jeans and my white converse. It was about 45 minutes later when I finally finished getting ready. I decided to make up my bed while I waited for Yoongi.

Once I finished,  I looked down at my phone and saw the call coming in from my brother and quickly answered it.

"Hello?" I asked into the receiver, as I fluffed the last decorating pillow that was on my bed.

"We're outside. Hurry up." Yoongi stated before ending the call. He was always so blunt. People that didn't know him probably would think he's rude, but he's really a soft little bear. I grabbed my phone and slipped it into my back pocket as I made my way downstairs and out the door.

After the short ride, seated in between a hyper Tae and a nervous Jungkook, we got out of the car and entered the house. Jungkook always acted awkward around me as if I was about to give him cooties. He didn't seem to have much experience with girls, although I wasn't experienced at all either. I never had a boyfriend, never been kissed ... as was just as new to hanging out with guys as he was with girls.

The boys each dispersed into different parts of the house, leaving me standing awkwardly at the entrance. Jin and Jungkook headed to the kitchen, looking for something to eat while Suga, Jimin and Tae walked to the living room and sat on the couches, arguing about what who had the most "sweg" in the group. I looked over at J-Hope who was informing us that he was going to take a shower as he walked into what I believed was his bedroom. I sauntered into the kitchen and sat at the bar stool that was facing the kitchen island. The kitchen was huge and had glossy marble counter tops, reflecting the artificial light given off by the modern chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

"Do you want some Y/N?" Jin asked as he pulled out a cake from a cake holder on the counter. Jungkook had already gotten his piece and made his way to the couch to eat it. I smiled at Jin and took the piece of cake he cut out for me. It was a vanilla cake with pretty light blue frosting. I took a piece and brought it up to my mouth. The frosting was a cream cheese frosting and you could taste that it was homemade. The cake was rich and baked perfectly.

"This is really good!" I exclaimed, looking up at a pleased Jin.

"Thank you, I made it myself." He grinned as he threw away his paper plate that once had his piece on it. My eyes widened in shock. I was decent at cooking but I could never bake, let alone something this good. I finished munching on the cake and threw away the plate, then taking my spoon to the sink.

"You need to teach me how to bake!" I exclaimed looking over at him. He smiled pridefully.

"It's actually not as hard as it looks, you just need to practice and eventually you figure out how much you should put into something." He shrugged. I smiled at his response. I wish I could bake for fun.

"Where's your bathroom?" I asked politely. I could feel my bruises beginning to burn and it always helped to run them under cold water.

"It's down the hall on the left." Jin answered pointing towards the small hallway.

"Thank you," I added as I bowed slightly, walking towards the hallway. There were two doors on the left. I chose the one that was the farthest from me. I opened the door swiftly, and my face began to get hot as I realized I wasn't in the bathroom. Namjoon sat at his desk with a pair of black beats resting over his ears. His eyes were glued to his laptop as he seemed to be working on something. I looked around his room which was surprisingly very neat. His bed had plain black sheets that were neatly covering his mattress, and next to it was a nightstand that was holding a lamp on top of it. To my surprise, his dresser that was next to his closet had a bunch of Bear Ryan's on it. My eyes traveled back to Namjoon who was now looking at me with amusement.

"I-I....s-sorry!" I stuttered as my face began to redden. I turned around to leave the room but Namjoon called after me.

"Y/N! Wait!" He called making me turn around and look at him. He got up from his chair and walked up to me, his dimple filled grin showing on his face.

"Were you looking for something?" Namjoon asks, as he leaned against the door frame.

"Y-yeah, I was looking for the bathroom," I replied looking down at my feet as my I felt my face become a darker shade of red. He chuckled, and walked out of his room.

"You're on the opposite side of the house Y/N," He informed, looking down at me, trying to hold back his laugh. He began walking and I walked beside him, playing with my hands nervously.

He remained quiet for a little bit and then broke the silence by asking me a question. "Are you okay? I mean about what happened yesterday," he asked, his voice turning into a softer tone. My heart began to race, and I got nervous thinking about what he could possibly know.

"W-what do you mean?" I asked, looking up at him in confusion. He smiled and ran his hand through his thick blonde hair.

     "You left early." He answered.

"I had to study for my exam..." I answered back, laughing nervously and I avoiding his eye contact.

"The exam you said you were having ... during the summer?" He asked, looking down at me with a confused expression. My heart started to thump against my chest faster, setting my anxiety on edge.

"Y-yeah, I meant that I had to, um," I blurted out, trying to cover up my lie. *Fuck....* I thought as soon as it escaped my mouth. It was so obvious I was lying.

"Ah, well never mind. You don't have to tell me your secret," he teased looking down at me, sensing not to egg the subject on any longer. I forced a smile on my face and laughed awkwardly. We stopped in front of a door which I presumed was the bathroom. I tuned the knob and looked back at him smiling as a way to thank him.

"You have a beautiful smile..." He blurted out, looking down at my lips. His eyes darted from my eyes back down to them and I did the same. He was biting his lower lip, which sent butterflies to start flying around my stomach.

"T-thank you." I replied, casting myself out of the trance I was in. Namjoon smiled before I closed the door behind me. I looked into the mirror and sighed with satisfaction.

He makes my heart race.
