I woke up to the sound of the door knob jingling. I slowly sat up and prepared for Nathan to hurt me like Aaron did. 

'He must have found a key. He can't be happy after what I did. Maybe I should fake sleeping and he might leave me alone.'

I quietly laid back down and closed my eyes just as I heard the door slowly open. I heard him sigh and slowly walk over to me, his heavy footsteps shaking the ground slightly. 

"I am so sorry Bailey." I heard him whisper to me. I felt him kneel down near me and then his hand grazed my cheek. The tingles coated my face without warning and I jumped up, no longer faking sleeping. 

I saw Nathan jump and I sat up quickly and huddled myself into my comfort ball again and scooted into a corner. 

"I am sorry Bailey if I pushed you too far yesterday, I didn't mean to scare you." His voice was so soothing and comforting. Like I told myself before, I was no longer going to let him get to me. 

He is probably using some sort of magic to do this to me. 

I thought to myself fiercely. I spared a quick glance at him and saw that his eyes were red and puffy, there were dark bags under his eyes and he looked exhausted. 

"Please say something Bailey. What did I do wrong? What do you want me to do differently?" I didn't respond, I just kept looking down at my knees. 

"Are you mad at me?" I slowly shook my head. 

"Are you sad because of something I did?" I shook my head again. 

"Did I scare you?" I nodded my head and hid my face. 

"I am so sorry Bailey. I didn't know it would scare you. I promise I would never hurt you or do anything to make you upset on purpose." He sighed and sat down a few feet away from me. 

"Can you tell me about these people who did those things to you?" I shook my head. "Why not?" With my mouth still glued shut I just shrugged my shoulders. 

"Do you think they are going to come back and hurt you?" I nodded my head. "I will never let you go near those people again. I will protect you with my life Bailey." I saw out of the corner of my eye, Nathan's hand start to come near me but then stopped. 

"Please say something Bailey. I need to hear your beautiful voice again." His voice sounded so weak and broken. I licked my lips and said softly, 

"Please just stop this acting. Send me to work and punish me already." I saw his eyes widen and his mouth fell open. 

"What are you talking about Bailey? I would never do any of those things! Please, look at what I have done to you, have I done anything to hurt you or did I try to ever send you to work?" I was silent. 

"Please Bailey, please let me in. I can help you. You can trust me." 

"That is what Aaron said to me the day he took me." I hissed. "But look where it got me!" Nathan jumped back at my fierceness, I even jumped at my own voice. 

Where is this coming from! This isn't me!

"I am sorry Bailey. But I'm not like Aaron. You can truly trust me. I won't hurt you!" I shook my head. 

"I am not falling for it again. I won't open up. I won't calm down. And I won't let you in. I was fooled once when I was younger, and I finally escaped and I won't be drug back in!" I growled, getting louder and louder with each sentence. 

"Bailey. Please. I can't go on without you." 

"Sure you can. Get rid of my and go find yourself a better mate, one that is actually worth something." I spat, then whipped my head away from and and turned my back to him and let the tears that were threatening to fall slide down my face silently. 

With every word I spoke, it felt like someone was slowly tearing away pieces of my heart. 

"But I can't Bailey. You are the only person for me. I can't get another mate. If you reject me, it could potentially kill me, and I can't leave my pack without an Alpha. My Beta isn't ready to be Alpha either. Please Bailey." 

I was silent. 

"You don't have to let me in now, but please just let me show you that I am not like Aaron. Let me show you how much I care for you. Please." His voice was cracking. My shoulders dropped. I wanted so badly to jump into his arms, I wanted to engulf myself in his scent and feel the tingles coat my body. 

But I couldn't. I couldn't let him in. I just couldn't...

"Just one chance Bailey. Please?" 

I finally caved in. 

"Just one chance." I whispered. I secretly whipped the tears away on my face and turned towards Nathan. He looked so broken and weak, but when he realized that I was giving him a chance, his eyes lit up and he smiled. 

"Thank-you Bailey." He whispered, it looked like he wanted to reach out and hold me but he stopped. I couldn't help but feel the urge to go closer to him as well.

I hated the few feet in between us and I hated that I felt the need to be close to him. 

Or do I? Or do I just like the feeling of wanting someone close and them wanting me in return.

"Just one hug." I said as I saw how much it was hurting him. He slowly and carefully wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer. I didn't let myself relax though, I stayed stiff as a board as those tingles covered me. They were softly vibrating my body with warm relaxing sparks. 

I heard Nathan sigh as he let me go. I could tell that hug did wonders for him, he seemed more awake and relaxed, more like his old self. 

Now, I told myself I wasn't going to be Bailey anymore. I broke that promise, but now I am back to being Girl.

Like last time, I lowered my shoulders and made myself smaller. I closed my mouth and let myself curl up into the same ball. 

"Why don't we go do something fun! We could go watch a movie, or play a game, or go for a run, or we can do whatever you want." 

Whatever  I  want? Me? He is asking me? Well that's new...

"A movie sounds nice." I whispered. 

"What movie do you want to watch?" He asked softly. I shrugged my shoulders. 

"I have only ever watched what Aaron watches." 

"Well why don't we go look at what movies I have and you can decide from there. Is that ok?" He whispered to me as he brushed a hair away from my face. I blushed and nodded my head. Nathan stood up and gently helped me stand. 

He led me over to the area with the TV and couch then showed me a large book shelf full of DVDs. 

I looked over the spines of all of them and one of them caught my eye. I reached out and pulled of DVD off the shelf and looked at it. On the cover it had a beautiful golden dog face on it looking back at me with those big brown eyes. It said in big letters at the top, 'A Dog's Purpose'

"You want to watch that one?" I nodded my head. "Do you want pop corn while we watch?" I shook my head no and handed Nathan the movie case. He led me over to the couch and I sat down on one end. I curled my legs to the side of my body and kept my hands in my lap. 

Nathan put the disk into a black box under the TV and then came and sat down on the other side of the couch. 

"Are you cold Bailey? Do you want me to get you a blanket?" I nodded my head and Nathan came back with 2 big fluffy blankets and handed one with me. 

I covered myself and snuggled in as the movie started. 

I cried multiple times during the movie and I even saw Nathan shed a tear. The movie was so good! I didn't want to tell Nathan but after seeing the movie, I really wanted a dog. 

"Bailey, I am so sorry but I need to go somewhere. I have a few Alpha things to finish before the day's over. Do you want to come along or do you want to stay here and watch another movie? Or..." 

"Another movie sounds good." I whispered. 

"What one do you want to watch?" 

"Is there another dog movie?" Nathan quietly laughed and went to the movie shelf thing. A few seconds later he came back and showed me another movie. This one had a cute brown and black puppy on the front in a red bag. Below the puppy it said, 'A Dog's Way Home." 

"Yes please." I said with a little smile. 

That puppy is so cute!!!!!!!

"I will be back before the movie is over. I am sorry I have to leave Bailey." 

"It's ok." I whispered. "I understand." 

Nathan left and the new movie started. 

This one I cried, but they were tears of joy at the end. 

Why and how do they get you so attached to the dogs in the movies? 

I silently asked myself

 I smiled as Bella stood in the door way with all those veterans seeing her. And then when Bella ran into Lukas's arms I started to cry, seeing how happy Lukas was to have Bella back into his arms. And the music in the background didn't help one bit. 

And then when the officer came to take her away, just like that I was mad again. I was ready to attack the character on the TV even though I knew there was no way. But when all the veterans stood (or rolled) up to stand in front of Bella, my heart soared with happiness. That is what I mean.

Nathan walked in just as the credits started to play. 

"Hey Bailey." I quickly whipped away the tears of joy that was rolling down my face and looked over at Nathan and smiled. 

"How was the movie?" I gave him a thumbs up. "That's good. Are you hungry? I saved some food for you." I didn't want to tell him no so I just took the food from his hands and looked at it. 

There on the small tray was just what I asked for. An apple, a slice of bread, and a glass of water.

He remembered!

On the side of the tray was something I haven't seen before. It was a small silver piece of candy that had a wide circular base and twisted up into a point with a white piece of paper sticking up out of it. 

I picked it up and looked at it. 

"That is a Hershey Kiss. It is something small I wanted you to try. It is really sweet, small, and perfect. Just like you." I blushed at his words and looked at the... Hershey  Kiss. I picked it up and started to unwrap it. Inside was a small brown thing. I slowly put it in my mouth and instantly noticed how incredibly sweet it was!

I didn't even have to chew it! It was just melting in my mouth. A smile made its way onto my face as I tasted this heaven in a wrapper. 

I saw Nathan smile at me and sit down on the coach across from me. 

"It's good isn't it?" He asked softly. I nodded my head and smiled. "It's called chocolate."

How have I never had these?? They are sooo good!

I then realized I was opening up and letting myself relax around him. 

Bad girl! Think of him as Aaron. Not the sweet, caring, handsome, perfect... GIRL! Stop it!

I was arguing with myself as I forced the smile away and focused back on the food. I finished this chocolate goodness then bit into the apple, filling my mouth with the bitter sweet apple tang I was so used to. 

I ate in silence as Nathan was watching me and eating something himself. 

"Would you like to try something else Angel?" I blushed when he called me Angel but quickly covered it up and slowly looked at Nathan. He was holding in his hand a small piece of something lighter brown than the chocolate. 

I saw lots of other people in the big room eating this too. I looked at him then at the food. 

"It's ok, it's just steak." 

Steak...

I slowly reached my hand out and took the small piece of steak from his hands and looked at it. It was cut into a cube and had a weird feeling to it. I looked at Nathan and he smiled at me and nodded his head. 

I brought the steak up to my mouth and popped it in. It was way tougher than an apple or bread but it tasted really good! I hummed in approval and finished chewing it. 

"It's good isn't it?" I nodded my head shyly. But then went back to looking down again. 

Don't let him in... be girl. Not Bailey. 

I finished eating then drank my water. I felt Nathan's stare on me so I stayed very still. 

"Are you still hungry?" He asked me slowly. I shook my head no. "Ok. Do you want to play a game?" I shrugged my shoulders knowing that I should answer him. "We could watch another movie, or I could show you around and introduce you to my friends if you want." He said so softly. 

What would make him the most happy? Maybe to get back on his good side.

I shrugged my shoulders again, not knowing what to do. 

"How is your leg doing?" He asked me. I moved it out from under the blankets and towards him, putting the stitches up.  He leaned forwards and looked at it while slowly grazing his fingers over it. 

I flinched as the tingles coated the wound. He pulled back. 

"Sorry..." I whispered. 

"Don't be Bailey. You did nothing wrong! Your wound is healing well. It should be fully healed by tomorrow I think." I nodded my head. 

"Thank-you." I whispered while pulled my leg back to under neath the blanket. Nathan was about to say something to me, but I heard footsteps approaching the door. He must have heard it too because he stood up and signaled me to stay there. 

He raised himself up to his full towering height then walked over to the door. Just as he neared it, I heard a soft knock. Nathan opened the door and welcomed the person in. 

I peeked over the back of the couch and watched as a young woman around my age walk in, she looked familiar from somewhere but I couldn't place it. The only thoughts running through my mind were those of betrayal. 

He found himself a new mate... someone to replace me.

Sadness and a little bit of.... I guess, relief? in a way? flooded over me. I was sad that what he was saying was a lie, but I was also relieved that I didn't need feel like I wasn't good enough anymore. I was relieved that Aaron wasn't the only one who was like that. 

Maybe all people are that way. You are either master, or girl. 

I looked at the woman closer, she was tall and lean but with muscle. Her long wavy hair was black and I knew her eyes looked familiar from some where. She was beautiful! 

"What brings you here Wendy?" Nathan asked the new girl as she stepped in the rest of the way. She showed the side of her neck to Nathan and said,

"Well I came to ask you something in person." Nathan nodded his head for her to continue. 

Here it goes... 

"The thing is, I found my mate." Nathan's eyes widened and a smile spread out across his face. 

"Really? That's great Wendy! Who is this special guy?" I saw Wendy blush slightly. 

"His name is Henry and he is the beta of the Night Howlers Pack." 

"Really?" Wendy nodded her head. 

"So I came to ask you for permission and your blessing if I could go to his pack with him." 

Wait... so he didn't replace me?

"I, Nathan, Alpha of the Sunrise Warriors Pack, grant Wendy Trendsara my blessing to leave my pack and go live with her mate in the Night Howlers Pack." Nathan said formally with a smile on his face. Wendy smiled largely. 

"Thank-you so much Alpha." Nathan nodded his head again and places his hands on her shoulders. 

"No, thank-you Wendy. You were such an amazing warrior for this pack and I enjoyed watching you grow and learn. I will always be here for you if you ever need anything. Please stay safe and take advantage to every day you have." Wendy nodded her head and thanked Nathan again before walking out. 

Nathan walked over to me and sat down in his usual spot. I turned and faced him. 

"Are you ok? You are looking kind of shaky." Nathan asked me. I nodded my head. 

"Just a little surprised is all." 

"What of?" I shrugged my shoulders and looked away, not wanting to tell him that I didn't trust his word. He was silent for a little while again. 

"You can tell me Angel, nothing you say would ever make me stop loving or caring for you." 

Darn his voice makes me want to answer all his questions fully!

"I-I thought you replaces me..." I whispered, preparing myself for the blow of pain. 

"I am so sorry you thought that Bailey! I would never replace you even if I could! You are perfect and all mine." Nathan smiled at me lovingly. His smile melted my heart and it made a smile spread its way onto my face too. 

Maybe I can give Nathan a try...
