Chapter 44
Thank You to bandtrashno1 for this idea!
"And raped," Remington murmurs.
Doctor Beckley sits up straighter. Finally, the boy has admitted the root of his problems. He makes a note of this and underlines it multiple times. "Weldone for telling me," he congratulates, "I know how hard it is to think about it."
Remington yawns. "Makes me feel sick," he explains, "fuck." He leans forwards and coughs.
The man hands Emerson a bucket. "We'll talk about it when you're ready, Remington, don't rush yourself."
The boy manages a nod, hand over his mouth. His stomach is churning. He grabs the bin from his brother and vomits, groaning and wiping his mouth.
Remington and Sebastian return home and the singer takes his painkillers and then curls up in the armchair, exhausted and anxious. He thanks his brother for the hot chocolate he hands him and mindlessly watches the television.
The sweet drink soothes him and he feels better towards the evening, once the medication has kicked in and his throat isn't so sore.
Sebastian and Larisa go out for a meal at 7:00, so Remington puts on a film and makes himself some pasta and sauce.
He can't stop thinking about why Holly did all that shit to him.
He needs to know.
The singer isn't paying attention to what's on the television. He finds Sebastian's laptop and searches through his emails until he forms across the contact for the prison.
When Holly was locked up, Remington couldn't bare to ever hear her name or see her name or anything, so his brothers had taken all the information and kept it away from the boy to save him the pain.
He dials the number displayed and rings it, waiting anxiously for a response.
A woman answers and asks how she can help. Remington hesitates. Does he really want to see her again? "I-I'd like to visit Holly Gulls," he says, cringing at the name as it leaves his mouth.
He is told that the inmates have an hour every Thursday for visitors, should they get any. Remington says he'll go the Thursday coming. That's just two days away.
He hangs up and leans back in the chair, sighing. It is probably a mistake to see Holly.
Remington is sleeping when Sebastian and Larisa return home, and the two make sure they're quiet to avoid waking the man. Sebastian knows how hard it is for his poor brother to get a decent night of sleep since the whole 'hotel incident.'
The lovers are woken early in the morning by a scream and straight away the guitarist gets out of bed and walks quickly across the hall and into the room. He's starting to see why Emerson was so exhausted. It's tiring.
Remington is holding the pillow tightly and staring at the wall, and he watches his brother as he sits down on the bed. "Sorry," he mumbles, sniffling. He hates that he keeps waking up Sebastian. He hates that others are suffering too.
"No-stop that," the older says, "don't you ever apologise for this." He shuffles up beside Remington and the boy lets his head fall onto the man's shoulder. "You never have to see her again," he reminds Remington.
The boy sighs. "Yes, I do," he whispers, and yawns.
"What?"
"I-I arranged to visit her on-on Thursday," he explains, "because I need to know why she did it." As much as he would like to hide this from Sebastian, he needs his brother to know.
Sebastian frowns. He doesn't like this idea. "Don't you think you should see her in a few weeks, when you're feeling better?"
"What if I never feel better?" Remington queries, "you'll-you'll come with me, won't you? Please?"
"Yeah-yeah of course I will. Now go to sleep."
The younger lies down and closes his eyes. "Stay?"
Sebastian makes himself comfortable. "Sweet dreams," he says quietly, and lets his brother cuddle up to him for comfort.
Remington braves the shower the next morning. After washing as quickly as he can he gets into a onesie and limps down the stairs, only then realising he didn't take his pills.
He huffs in annoyance and turns around, hauling himself back up the stairs and into the spare room. The boy swallow a down the painkillers and then goes down the stairs for a second time, joining the Sebastian and Larisa.
"Morning," he mumbles, and yawns. It seems he is always tired
"Coffee?" Larisa offers, making a cup for herself
Remington sits in a chair and rubs his eyes. "Oh yes please," he answers.
"Tired?"
The singer nods at his brother's question. "Fucking exhausted, man."
Sebastian frowns. He doesn't like seeing the younger boy like this. "Andy called," he says, and Remington perks up. "He offered to take you out for dinner tonight. I said I'd ask you."
"Dinner?"
"Yeah, dinner, in a restaurant. A date, Remington, he wants to take yoh on a date."
Remington thanks the woman for the cup of coffee. "Really?"
The older man nods. "Yes really. Why are you so surprised?"
"I don't know, I just feel so useless. I'm gonna text him."
Hey. You wanna take me out for dinner?
Yeah. Tonight? I'll organise everything
Okay. Don't expect anything exciting in exhausted.
You're exciting no matter what you do. I'll pick you up. All you've gotta do is remember to take your medication.
It was one time!
Yeah yeah you can't pretend it hasn't happened again.
See you later.
I look forward to it, sweetheart.
