YOU'RE A CRAZY PERSON.

When the first day of school arrived, Adeline made sure she looked perfect in a short sundress with blue flowers embroidered into the white fabric. Cici helped braid her hair, and in return, she let her roommate borrow the shimmering pink eyeshadow that she'd complimented twice during the orientation weekend.

It was Monday, which meant she didn't have her biology class with her brother, which was only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the only class the twins shared, sadly. That's what they got for picking different majors though.

While Derek was Pre-Med, Adeline was getting her BFA in Costume Design with a minor in Film, as she wanted to work with costumes for film and TV.

And because Cici was majoring in Film, the girls would have plenty of classes together throughout their time at Windsor, which pleased them. They walked arm in arm toward their Film Studies 101 class, their backpacks slung over their shoulders and full of the textbooks they'd need for the day.

"I know the focus is learning, but I hope we get to watch movies from time to time," Adeline was saying.

"I mean, at the very least, he should let us watch clips just so we have examples. It can't all be boring textbook stuff," Cici told her. "I heard Professor Mac is one of the best on the staff. The older students love him."

"Then I'm sure this class will be great," she said as they entered the room that was slowly filling up with students. The professor hadn't arrived yet, but Adeline was delighted to see someone she knew. "Randy!"

As she waved at the boy, he perked up in his desk and grinned at her. "Hey, Adeline," he greeted. Then he nodded to the two desks next to him. "Come on. Sit down. I didn't know you were studying film."

"Just minoring," she told him while sitting at one of the desks. Then she nodded to her roommate. "This is Cici, my roomie. She's gonna be a big producer one day, though."

"Well, be sure to hire me as a writer when you are," he said with a charming smile. Then he offered her his hand. "Randy Meeks."

"Cici Cooper, like she said," she told him, shaking his hand. "Addy told me she met with you a few times during orientation."

To her pleasure, Adeline got to see Randy and Sidney on two separate occasions during the weekend, which was full of welcoming events for all the freshmen. And not once did she dare bring up all the information that Cici gave them.

Evidently, their childhood friends — one of whom was Sidney's boyfriend — ended up murdering her mother, her best friend, and a few other people in their small town back in California. The story was horrifying, and though Adeline was curious, she'd never bring it up around the two, knowing that if she went through something like that, she'd just want to move on.

Adeline, Sidney, and Randy didn't spend much time with each other during orientation, as it was so busy for all of them, and the students were broken off into different groups that didn't contain each other. But they hung out after getting snow cones together and then again when they had clubs recruiting on the main quad.

It was there that a sorority piqued Adeline's interest — the Delta Lambda Zetas, who were quite happy to try and recruit her. And when other sororities saw that she was interested, they went after her too. So, Randy and Sidney left her to be flocked by different representatives.

Cici was showing interest in Greek life as well, but she had her sights set on Omega Beta Zeta, her mother's sorority. Because she was a legacy, she was basically guaranteed a bid from them, which helped ease some of her nerves.

And Derek was in the same boat, as their father had been part of the Omega Kappa Beta fraternity, so he wouldn't have trouble getting in.

But now, Adeline didn't have to think about rushing and all the mixers and parties she'd have to attend the rest of the week. She just had to focus on Film Studies 101, which she hoped would be one of her favorite classes of the term.

She, Cici, and Randy got to chat a little while longer, mostly just talking about their plans for what they'd do with their degrees. And they made a little pact, agreeing to help each other out if any of them ever made it big. They'd all work on one movie as a producer, writer, and head of costuming together. Adeline just joked that all they needed was a director to add to their little group and they'd be a powerhouse of talent.

But all too soon, the professor entered the classroom and got everyone to quiet down as he introduced himself.

"I am Professor MacDonald, but you can call me Professor Mac," he said after passing his syllabus down the rows of desks. "Welcome to Film Stuides 101, where we will be focusing on different tequniques used in filmmaking throughout history and will continue to do so into next semester. And to get us started, we're gonna do a little icebreaker."

Nearly everyone in the class groaned, making Professor Mac chuckle — they had all just spent a weekend doing countless icebreakers with the orientation leaders, which were always awkward.

But Adeline just smile, thinking they were fun. She loved meeting knew people and learning about them. She was the kind of person that thrived off of having lots of friends.

"No groaning," the teacher told them. "Share your name, and then I want you to try and share a fact about yourself that no one else in the room has in common. And then tell us two of your favorite movies — I'll try my best to work it into the curriculum to make class more interesting for you all as well. Now, any volunteers?"

When no one jumped at the chance to go, Adelina looked around the room before raising her hand high. Once he called on her, she cleared her throat.

"I'm Adeline Feldman," she introduced. "One of my favorite movies ever is 'Willow' as well as 'Say Anything'."

"Wonderful choices, Adeline," Professor Mac complimented. "And a fun fact?"

"Um, I've never seen a scary movie," she said with an uneasy smile, knowing how dangerous saying something like that in a film class was.

The outrage was expected as people began shouting and booing her. Adeline just giggled and looked at an appalled Randy, who came up out of his seat.

"What? What do you mean you've never seen a scary movie?" he asked, his eyes wide. "'Halloween'? 'Friday the 13th'? 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'?"

"No," she said, shaking her head and smiling. "Sorry."

"What the hell are you doing in a film class?" another boy asked from behind her.

Adeline turned around and set her eyes on a boy in a blue t-shirt in the desk behind hers. And god, he was so pretty, she thought. She almost forgot his question as she started into his brown eyes that were fixed solely on her, a disbelieving expression on his handsome features.

"Well, I wanna go into costuming," she explained. "Don't gotta be a horror fan for that."

"But horror's the best genre," he told her, leaning forward. His eyes narrowed at her. "You're a crazy person. And you're missing out on some of the greatest films ever made."

"Yeah, like which ones?" she asked with a smile, not really picking up on the annoyance in his tone.

"Try 'Psycho' and 'Carrie'," he told her. "My favorite two movies." Then he introduced himself to the class while still looking at her. "And I'm Mickey Altieri."

"Well, what's a fact about you, Mr. Altieri?" Professor Mac asked.

Mickey leaned back and thought for a second. "I... I don't know. I guess I have a twin brother."

"Nope!" Adeline said, drawing his attention once more. "I have a twin brother too."

Sighing over the fact that he'd have to figure out another fact, he glanced back at her. "If I weren't gonna be a director, I'd probably be a mechanic. Like working on cars."

When no one else chimed in that they shared his interest, Mickey smiled, glad that his turn was over. And when no one else volunteered to go, Professor Mac began calling on people, starting with Cici.

She liked 'Labyrinth' and 'Interview with the Vampire', and her fun fact was the she was a cheerleader in high school.

Seeing as he was seated near three people that had already gone, Randy was the next to be called on.

"I'm Randy Meeks—"

But he couldn't even get out his favorite movies before some girl on the other side of the room cut him off. "Holy shit! You're the one from the Ghostface murders!"

Adeline frowned as everyone began whispering throughout the class, seeing how Randy clenched his jaw and then rubbed his shoulder where he'd been shot.

"Guess that can be my fun fact," Randy muttered. Next, questions — insensitive ones — were thrown at him from all directions.

"What was it like to be shot?"

"Where's that Sidney girl?"

"Why didn't you realize they were the killers earlier?"

As questions were hurled at him, Adeline huffed and crossed her arms. "Hey!" she whined loudly over every one else. It got all eyes back on her. "I'd like to know Randy's favorite movies, thank you very much. Wait for the movie if you wanna know all that other stuff."

"Well, not like you'd watch 'Stab' anyhow," Mickey snickered before looking at Randy expectantly.

Randy listed off two obscure, cult classic horror movies that Adeline had never even heard of as his favorite movies. It started up some kind of argument, a quarter of the class that was familiar with the titles now arguing about if they were good or not. And as they did so, Randy caught Adeline's eye and smiled thankfully at her for changing the topic off what happened in Woodsboro.

With classes over for the day, Derek and Adeline made their way to the large cafeteria on campus, filling their trays with food before finding an empty table. While they sat together, they got to talk about their days and the people they'd met in class.

And soon, they were joined by Cici, who'd been sitting previously with some of the OBZ girls who were inviting her to a party that night that was being held at their sorority house off campus. And Cici was allowed to bring friends, so Adeline would be going with her — so long as she returned the favor and went to a DLZ party with her the next night. And Derek could come to that once since OKB was considered related to the Delta Lambdas.

Their chatter about Greek life was cut off by Adeline, who'd been curiously scanning the room, studying all the new faces when she saw two familiar ones walking with someone she didn't know, clearly distressed as they couldn't find an empty table. So, she quickly waved her hand, calling out to them.

"Randy! Sidney!"

"Hey, Adeline," Sidney said with a smile, coming closer with her tray. "Mind if we sit with you guys?"

"Of course," Adeline said while pulling out the chair next to her so that Sidney could sit down across from Derek.

"Hey, guys," Randy said, nodding to her and Cici now that he was better acquainted with them after class.

"This is my brother, Derek. Derek, this is the Randy I told you about," Adeline said. Then she smiled at the dark-skinned girl that'd sat sown next to Sidney. "And hi! I'm Adeline."

"Hallie," she said with a pretty smile. "I'm Sidney's roommate."

"Awesome. Then you're our neighbors. This is Cici," Adeline made the introductions.

"So, Randy mentioned you were in his film studies class," Sidney mentioned. "How'd that go?"

"It was so much fun, right, Randy?" she asked him. "But something tells me that you're gonna start lots of arguments in class, aren't you?"

"You know it," he smirked. "Everyone who has a different opinion from me is simply wrong."

Hallie hummed with a smirk on her face. "Something tells me that my Psych 101 professor might like to study your personality."

"I take that as a compliment," Randy said while eating some fries.

"Psych? That's so interesting," Cici said, leaning closer.

"What are you majoring in, Sidney?" Adeline asked her, since she was the only one she didn't know about now.

"Theater," she said softly.

Adeline's eyes went wide. "That's so exciting. I was talking with Professor Mac after class, and he said the theater department always needs help with costuming. So, if you're thinking of auditioning for any of the shows this year, we could work together!"

"I don't know about this semester," Sidney said with a shrug. "I'm not big on musicals — they're doing 'Hair', by the way. And then the play is 'Death of a Salesman', which I don't think I'm a good fit for. Might help on sets though."

"What are the shows next semester?" Derek asked, unaware on if those were even announced yet.

"Um, 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Agamemnon' from The Oresteia," she said with a little smile. "It's one of my favorite works, actually. Cassandra is an amazing role."

"Then it's settled," Adeline said, grabbing Sidney's hand and squeezing it. "You're gonna audition and get the part, and I'm gonna make a totally stellar dress for you."

Sidney just shook her head, knowing that Adeline didn't even know if she was a good actress or not. But she appreciated the support.

"Oh, hey," Randy said, craning his head a bit. "There's that Mickey guy from class."

Adeline turned around and spotted him instantly, eyes scanning his form — he was taller than she expected now that he wasn't sitting in a desk. And clearly, he was searching for somewhere to sit with a little frown on his face. He wasn't lucky enough to come to college knowing anyone. And he hadn't made friends during Orientation.

"We've got another chair," Adeline said, nodding to the one next to her.

"No way," Cici scoffed. "He was so pretentious — calling you crazy just because you don't like one of countless film genres."

"Be nice, Cici," Adeline said with a grin, knowing Mickey was just being dramatic in class. "Randy, call him over."

And Randy did just that, standing up a bit as he called the boy's name. And though he hid it well, Mickey looked a bit relieved to have somewhere to sit.

"Hi, there," Adeline greeted him as he dropped into the seat next to her.

"Adeline, right?" he asked, pretending like he hadn't learned her name as soon as it left her lip gloss-stained lips in class earlier. Then he looked at his other two classmates. "And Randy and Cici?"

"Got it," Randy nodded. He looked at the other three. "This is Mickey from our film class. Mickey, this is my friend, Sideny, and her roommate, Hallie."

"And that twin I mentioned," Adeline said, nodding to her brother. "Derek."

"Nice to meet you, man," Derek nodded before biting into his burger.

"Sounded like Mickey and Randy had a lot in common in class today, Sidney," Adeline told her. "So I bet you two will get along."

"Speaking of class," Mickey said while twisting the top off his soda and looking pointedly at Adeline. "You're an absolute liar, by the way."

Adeline furrowed her perfectly plucked eyebrows together. "What am I lying about?"

"Never watching a scary movie. Everyone has seen a scary movie before," he scoffed.

"Not me. I'm a total 'fraidy cat," she said with a grin. "No one is ever gonna get me to watch a scary movie."

"Trust me," Derek chuckled. "I've tried. She's so lame when it comes to scary stuff."

"Don't let them gang up on you," Sidney said gently. "I never liked scary movies either. I'm more of a Meg Ryan girl."

"So, what I'm hearing is a 'Sleepless in Seattle' movie night?" Adeline asked hopefully.

Sidney grinned and nodded along. "I already know for a fact that Randy has that on tape just for when I come over."
