My chocolate brown curls bounced around my head, as I ran frantically around my house. I wanted to scream.... know what?! I did scream! "WHERE'S MY JACKET?!" I yelled growing more and more frustrated. I couldn't find it, and the longer I searched... the more worried I became.

And me being me, I began to suspect the worse.

Did I leave it at the other house?!

Did it burn?!

Was it in the washer? It wasn't time to wash it yet!

The last one wouldn't make sense to others, but it did to me and my family... so that is enough. My shot mind was finally laid to rest, as my mama came from around the corner. Yet her eyes were down cast, like she had bad news.

"M-mama?" I asked timidly. She looked at me, then turned her gaze towards the wooden floor again. "Baby.... I'm so sorry...." She said quietly. My eyes began to water. It was gone... his jaket was go- "I found it."

I blinked.

Once.

Twice..

Three times...

"What?" I finally asked. My mama looked at me with a bright smile. Then to add to my pain, she fell over... laughing! THIS WOMEN! "MAMA!" I cried outraged. Mama looked at me from the ground still laughing, my jacket in her hand.

"I'm sorry Hali... I-It's just you're so serious about this jacket!" She said with a giggle. I, on the other hand, had tears in my eyes. She knows why that jacket is so important to me. "Mama... that's not funny." I said starting to cry a little.

Seeing my tears, mama jumped to her feet, and pulled me into a tight hug. "I am so sorry, Hali." She said calming me down. I cried a little more, but in the end. I gave her a warm smile. "It's okay, mama." I asurred her.

She looked at me with a small guilty nod. I pulled myself completely out if her warm embrace, and took my jacket out of her hands.

"Where did you find it?" I asked hugging my jacket. I never leave the house with out it. Mama gave me a sad smile. "It was in 'his' stuff." She said with that same sad smile. We can't have her sad! She has work today! No, that just won't do.

I Slapped my forehead, and groaned loudly. My mama looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Really?!" I asked over dramatically. Mama began to giggle a my antics. I threw one of my arms around her neck, and the other over my eyes. "How could I be so blind?!" I asked with a fake sob.

She double over laughing. And I smiled as well, but our little moment was compromised. "Good morning, Mama.... Hali." A voice I used to find comfort in, now brought unwished sorrow, said behind me. She was angered by the sight of me.

But I'm not surprised.

I would be mad it I was her too because....

It's my fault... that he's gone.

I turned around to give the new comer a bright smile. "Good morning, Reyna!" I said cheerfully. Reyna... my sister looked at me with deep disgust in her eyes. She walked past me, shoving me on her way towards the kitchen.

I could have sworn she called me something under her breath. But I don't know what it was... yes I do.

Murderer...

I gave a shaky sigh. I forgive her... I always will. I looked at my Mama, who just stood there confused. She never hears what Reyna has said to me.

Reyna has maked sure that mama never would.

I gave my Mama a bright smile. "I'm going to school now Mama." I said cheerfully. Mama looked at me with a concerned frown. "Right now? But you haven't eaten." She said with a worried tone.

I shrugged. "I have to get there early, so I can learn my way around." I said. It wasn't the truth, but it wasn't a complete lie. I should get there early to learn what I can. But honestly, I just wanted to get out.

Mama look down with a sad frown. Dang it! "Hali... you rarely eat anymore." She said softly. I had nothing to say on that... She was right. I would eat an apple, maybe a bottle of water. But the last time I really eat a meal.

Was the last time he was alive.

My thoughts were cut short, by the sound of foot steps from up stairs. I smiled again, and kissed Mama's forehead. "Mama I'll eat when I get there, okay?" I said calmly. She looked at me seriously, but I just shrugged.

"HALI!! ARE YOU UP?!" A young cheerful voice asked. I smiled happily. "Yeah I'm down stairs!" I yelled back. I could only see a ball of blue come tumbling down the stairs before I was pulled into a hug. "Morning D.J." I said patting him in the head.

This is my little brother D.J, he's about 4'5", seven years old, and a smart pain in the butt. "Good morning?" He asked. Darn this kid for being so smart. I stayed quite at first, but then I pulled away. "I have to get going, I'll bring you back a book!" I said punching him in the back of his head, before running out the door.

I looked up at the grey sky. It's going to rain soon. I mused to myself. I looked down a sad sigh left my smiling lips. "I miss you." I said to myself. I was going to always miss him. I pulled my jacket tighter around my waist. It's cold, but I just can't bring myself to put his jacket on properly.

As I walked down the street, I lost myself in my last memory of him.

"Michael! PLEASE WE GOTTA GO!"

"I'M NOT GONNA MAKE IT, AND YOU KNOW IT!"

"PLEASE MICHAEL! I CAN'T LEAVE YOU! you're my twin brother!"

"Michael.... you can't go, please..."

"Hali.... keep that smile on your face... for me, please. Never stop smiling..."

"MICHAEL!"

"HONK!!!"

"OH MY GOD!" I yelled, pretty sure I just jumped ten feet in the air. I looked to my left to see an angry man sitting in his car, a few feet away from me. I have him a shaky smile, and a some what awkward wave.

After running down the street, and ignoring a few eyes watching me. I noticed how nothing really looked familiar... well duh I just moved here, but. I guess I just don't like the feeling of chills going down my spine.

I gave a tired sigh. "I must have went the wrong way." I told myself. I looked up an saw an alley ahead. Then I smiled... like I always do. "I'll just cut through that alley." I said picking up my spirit. Maybe I would be late to first period, but that won't be so bad.

I closed my eyes, and hummed to myself. Once I made my way into the alley, my natural response is to open my eyes. I gasped in horror at the sight. Three men on the ground, and a guy, about my age maybe a year or two older, at the other end.

Obviously the most screen bord thing was there. He was covered in blood. The blood of those men.

....I feel sick.
