April's pov

I lay awake in my bed. Ash is sound asleep.
I just kissed Raph. I just kissed a turtle.
I've got to admit. I do like Raphael, even if he is a turtle. There was no difference except his lips are bigger than the adverage human and they are a little rough. It just feels like a chap though. I dose off thinking of Raph.
Early the next morning
"April. Hey April." someone whispers next to me. I open my eyes. It is really Early. Like about four a.m. The others shouldn't be up for about two hours, but here looking down at me about three inches away is Raph.
"Raph? What is it? Someone can hear you and-oh no... Ash is-"
"Still asleep." Raph says. I look across the room at a sleeping cat.
"I have a surprise."
"Really? What is it?"
"Come on." he says and pulls me out of bed.
"Are you sure that the others are asleep?"
"Yes. Just be really quiet and stuff. Leo's a light sleeper."
We creep down the hall and into the living area. Raph covers my eyes with one of his huge hands.
"Shhhh." he says. He leads me a little farther.
"Okay." Raph says and takes his hand off my eyes.
He had led me into the kitchen where he had prepared a small breakfast.
"Happy birthday." he whispers.
Oh my gosh! I totally forgot about my own sixteenth birthday!
"Thanks Raph." I say and hug him. He hugs back.
I sit down and Raph sits next to me.
He had prepared a fruit salad and scrambled eggs.
"This is sweet. Where did you learn how to cook?"
"Mikey made me cook this breakfast for him every Saturday when we were little. He wouldn't eat it if anybody else made it. Only me."
"Awww. That's really sweet."
"He's my little brother." Raph says shrugging.
We begin to eat. The salad has apples, bananas, blueberries, and strawberries. The eggs are really good. I've just realised that I never had eaten Raph's cooking. We finish in silence.
Raph pulls out his T-phone and presses a few buttons. Soon, my favorite song is playing quietly through the speaker. It is a soft song. It is really slow. Raph stands up.
"Will you dance with me?"
"Yes."
I stand up and put one of my arms on his shoulder as my other is holding his hand. His hand is softly on my waist.
"I don't know how to dance." Raph says.
"Neither do I." I say. I try to immitate what I've seen on movies, but that doesn't work. I stepped on Raphs feet at least three times.
"Sorry."
"Don't be. This is fun. Here let me try." Raph says taking the lead. He ends up backing up into the island.
"Ow!" he says.
"Shhhh!"
"Sorry..." he says.
He walks forward and trips over my foot. He falls dragging me to the floor with him.
"Ow!" we both say. Raph fell on top of me and I can't breathe very well. We both start to laugh.
"You can't dance." Raph says in between laughs.
"You can't either."
We stop laughing and just stare at each other for a little bit. I see something out of the corner of my eye.
"Raph?!?!"
It's Mikey.
Raph scrambles up and turns off the song, which was still playing.
"Mikey!" he whisper shouts.
"What are you doing out of bed?"
"I smelt food. I followed the smell to here and I heard some laughing. I came in here and you and April-"
"Mikey. It's not what it looks like, buddy." I say standing up.
Mikey looks back and forth between us and the food on the table. Raph looks at me and leans over to whisper I my ear.
"I can't lie to him, April."
I look at him. He looks sincere. I nod my head giving him my permission.
"Mikey. Me and April like each other." Raph says.
"What? No. You can't. Donnie's got a thing for her, dude. He's gonna-"
"But Donnie's not gonna find out, is he?" Raph says.
"Dude. I can't lie to him like that. I'm gonna tell him. I have to."
Raph drops to his knees.
"Please Mikey! Don't tell him! Please. I'll do anything you want!"
Wow. Raph really doesn't want Donnie to know about us.
"Anything?" Mikey says with a smile.
"Yes. Anything."
Mikey thinks for a little.
"I want breakfast in bed every Saturday like you used to. And I want it when I want it. And I want what I want."
"Is that it?" I ask. Raph is still on his knees.
"And April has to clean my room. Every. Day. For..... Ever."
"Ew! No! That pig pen hasn't been cleaned for over a year or two and-"
"Deal!" Raph says and Mikey and him handshake.
Mikey leaves.
"I didn't see anything. I was sleepwalking." he says as he makes his way back to his bedroom.
"Raph! I have to clean Mikey's room!"
"It was that or Donnie finds out."
"Well. You should've negotiated a little better than, huh?"
"April, please. It isn't that bad."
"It is that bad, Raph. No clue what I'll find in there!"
"April, please. Come on. I'll help you."
I cross my arms.
"Fine."
"Thanks sweetheart." Raph says as he hugs me from behind and plants a kiss on my cheek.
I think I'm falling for you....
"Go back to bed. Don't want to arouse suspicion." Raph says, still holding my waist gently from behind.
I smile and walk back to my room quietly while Raph cleans up.
When I'm in my room, I look in the mirror. Ratty hair, torn t-shirt, and floral fleece pants.
Wow. I must have looked horrible...
Ash is still asleep, thankfully.
I climb into bed and fall asleep again, thinking of Raph.
"April!!! Where are you?!?!"
Raph
I try to call out, but my lips won't move.
"Mikey? Leo? Donnie? Where are you?"
I see him. There is smoke everywhere.
"Casey?" He stops.
"Master Splinter!!!" he says and runs to a spot where I can't see.
I can only hear sobbing.
I wake up.
Stupid dreams. They mean nothing...
It is around wake- up, so I hope to be the first in the shower this morning. I realize that Ash is already up. I grab a hair brush, my usual clothing, and my towel as I jog towards the bathroom. I hear a loud singing voice coming from inside.
Mikey.
"And will always love you!"
Mikey loves to sing in the mornings. Especially if it is when someone else needs to take a shower.
I bang on the door.
"Mikey! Hurry up! I want to take a shower!"
"AHHH! Okay April..." came the reply along with the shower turning off. Mikey comes out with a towel in one hand and his ninja belt, hand and foot wraps, and bandana in the other.
"Sorry April. All yours."
I walk into the bathroom, which you've probably noticed that we all share it, and there is water over everything.
Great...
I begin to mop up all the extra water with a hand towel. There isn't that much, it's just everywhere.
Like Mikey took a shower with the curtain open.
Probably did.
I put the hand towel in the clothes hamper and strip down for my shower.
Luckily, there is still some hot water left, but I'm quick so there is some left for Leo, who also takes a morning shower.
Raph, Donnie, and Casey take theirs in the evening.
I take the shampoo and lather up my hair. We don't have conditioner, so I usually go without.
I'll probably go to the store soon with Casey to buy some. We need groceries as well...
I rinse and step out of the shower. Donnie had found a hair dryer and fixed it so it would work again. I ring my hair out with the towel and begin to blow dry it. I brush my hair as I dry it and my hair is soon completely dry. I turn off the blow dryer and brush out my hair once more. There is a little container full of hair ties, so I open it and take out a hair tie and put my hair in a pony tail. I get dressed next. I put on the white cami and shorts that I wear under all my other clothes. I then put on a long sleeved black shirt and black tights over that. Last I put on the yellow t-shirt and denim cut-offs of my everyday wear. I then put on a yellow head band and my black boots.
Same old. Same old.
I throw my towel and old clothes into the hamper and walk out.
Leo is leaning on the wall beside the door with a towel over his shoulder.
"Morning April." he says.
"Morning Leo." I say as he walks into the bathroom and closes the behind him.
I go into the kitchen for a quick snack of a small slice of cold pizza in the fridge. I eat it quickly and walk towards the dojo for morning training. We can't really start until Leo is out of the shower, but we can practice spar and stretch.
Donnie and Casey are stretching and Raph is punching the punching bag.
Mikey runs in right after me and begins to do some simple sit ups as Donnie and Casey are doing yoga.
"Morning April." Raph says.
"Happy birthday, April!" Donnie and Casey say at the exact same time. They glare at each other.
"Woah... April it's your birthday and you didn't even tell me." Mikey says.
"Yes. Mikey, it's my birthday."
I walk over to the weapons rack and grab my metal fan.
I rub a scuff off of it and toss it towards the tree in the the center is the dojo. It sticks deep.
I do a few stretches and then Leo comes running in, dragging Ash behind him. He sets her down on a mat in the far corner of the room where we go if we lost a sparring match.
"You'll like watching us, Ash." Leo says.
Master Splinter comes into the dojo just that second.
"Everybody sit." he says and we all line up in front of him on our knees.
He walks back and forth between us.
"Casey. You have come far these past few months, but you must learn not to be over confident. Confidence is the enemy of a ninja."
"Hai Sensei." Casey says.
"Today we will spar with different opponents." Splinter says.
The partners are usually Casey and Donnie, Mikey and me, and Leo and Raph.
"Casey, Leonardo. Michelangelo, Raphael. April, Donnetello."
Wow. Up against Donnie.
Leo and Casey go first. It was an easy match and Leo won. He went to stand on the opposite wall where the winners go as Casey went to sit on the mat with Ash.
Mikey and Raph. All Raph had to do was distract Mikey and he won easily. Raph went to stand with Leo.
Me and Donnie.
It started out fine. Donnie was winning. I am quick and I won when I came behind him and did a leg sweep, knocking him off his feet.
Wow. I won!
I went to stand by Raph as Donnie was mocked by Casey about getting beat by a girl.
"Raphael, Leonardo, April. Free for all." Master Splinter said.
We walk into the center of the dojo and now before each other. We get into sparring position until Sensei gives us the signal. He does and Leo goes for Raph. Raph deflects and I attack from behind. Raph does a backflip to avoid my attack. When he lands, he sweeps over and I kick Leo off his feet.
Me and my secret boyfriend left.
He runs towards me. I stand there and let him charge. At the last second, I duck and use his own momentum to send him flying. He's on the ground and I stand over him.
I've just won my first free for all.
Raph doesn't say anything. He just pants from the work out and looks up at me, a small smile on his lips.
I reach down and help him up.
"Congratulations, my child." Sensei says. We all stand up and bow once more.
"That's enough training for the day." Splinter says. We walk single file out of the dojo. I was going to go and watch some t.v., but Donnie stops me.
"Hey April." he says.
"Yeah?"
"Happy birthday." he says and holds out a small wooden box. I open it. Inside is a picture of me and him eating pizza. It also plays music.
Awkward
"Uh... Wow Donnie. This is really cool. Thanks I say and I give him a friendly hug. He hugs back desperately.
I walk back to the t.v.and sit down with my new gift.
How am I ever going to tell him that I'm not interested?
