"I'm Jimin, what's your name?" he asked in English with a knowing smile. I'm pretty sure he recognizes I'm a fan and he's trying to be polite. Oh god, I look like a lunatic.
"Um- Seong Nari, nice to meet you," I responded nervously in Korean with a small bow. You know of all the times I imagined myself meeting BTS, or a member, I didn't think I would be in a pair of sweatpants and an oversized hoodie that is way too old to be worn. Luckily, my hair wasn't that bad.
"Oh, you speak Korean," he said excitedly. His eyes closing as he smiled at me. Why does he have to be so cute my heart can't take it.
"Yes, both my parents came from South Korea and we visit often to see family," I responded timidly.
I don't know how to act right now. Do I keep making conversation, do I leave, do I ask for a picture? I thought he was going to leave after my introduction, but he surprised me when he asked another question.
"What part?" He curiously asked, tilting his head in the process.
"Seoul, most of my family is from Seoul," Was I, Seong Nari, having a conversation with Park Jimin? Yes. Is this a dream? Slyly, I pinched myself in the hand and to my delight, it wasn't a dream.
"By your reaction, I assume you're a fan?" he asked cheekily. I think he was enjoying my nervous and flustered state way too much. Here I was thinking I was slick.
"Um, yeah, actually my friends and I went to yesterday's concert," I admitted bashfully. For some reason, admitting to one of your idols you went to their concert is slightly embarrassing. I'm glad Olivia is not here with me because I'm pretty sure she would have kidnapped Jimin by now.
"Did you enjoy it?" He genuinely looked curious and not like he was just asking out of politeness. I am shocked he didn't take the first chance he had to leave. I thought he would be slightly uncomfortable knowing a fan was in his hotel or something.
"Of course, it was an incredible show," I said honestly, "BTS never disappoints." It was the best show I've ever been to in my life. You could tell they gave it all on that stage, they danced, sung, and interacted with the fans. As a fan you couldn't ask for more.
"It makes me happy to know that you and your friends enjoyed it." He said with a smile "It shows that our hard work paid off."
We kept talking for a few minutes about the show. The ice is long forgotten in the dispenser. It's not every day your dream comes true. I'm just glad I was able to control my fangirling. Just as I was beginning to feel more comfortable and relaxed another person entered the room.
"Yah, Jimin-ah what is taking you so long?" Realizing Jimin wasn't alone, he stopped in his tracks assessing the situation with a serious face. Maybe he thought I was a crazy fan. "Taehyungie, this is Nari, she's a fan and went to the concert yesterday," Jimin said excitedly pointing at me while I just stood there and waved shyly.
"Nice to meet you, Nari," he greeted with his low voice.
"You too," I simply said. This was too much for my little heart. There was a small uncomfortable silence and I took it as my queue to leave. After all, people were probably waiting for them it was not because I was about to faint. Also, my friends don't seem to care about me because I've been gone for a solid 20 minutes and they are nowhere to be seen.
"I have to go my friends are probably waiting for me," I continued as I started walking out of the small room. For some reason, Taehyung kept staring at me intently in a calculating way. It was an odd feeling, I don't know what to think about it.
"Ah, of course, see you-" Jimin started, but was promptly interrupted.
"Wait, Nari, aren't you that girl from the video?" Taehyung suddenly asked while pointing at me.
Being close to 2/7 out of BTS messed up my brain because instead of thinking of the viral video I started thinking of all the videos, Olivia, Macy, and I took while crazily signing to BTS.
"Wh-what video?" I asked nervously. A part of my brain tried to reason why they would have seen those videos if they weren't posted but the unreasonable part won this battle.
"After the concert where you helped a girl," He states looking weirdly at my nervous reaction.
With those words, my mind came back to reality as I remembered the video.
"Yes, that was me," I answered with a nod.
I know that BTS uses twitter and stuff, but I didn't think that they paid a lot of attention to it.
"What you did was very brave," Taehyung mentions with a small smile.
Oh lord, I was going to die from it. It was the first smile he gave me, and it was beautiful, it wasn't even a complete boxy smile.
"I was just happy to help somebody," It was true, at the moment I hadn't thought about anything but helping the girl since nobody else was helping her. I had to step in.
"All the boys were really surprised with the video I'm sure they'd like to meet you," Jimin chimed in.
Did he just suggest going and seeing the rest of BTS? I've always wanted to meet BTS, but this is too much. So far it has been overwhelming and I'm only with two of them.
"Oh no, it's okay, I don't want to bother anybody," I said nervously. I am on the verge of collapsing because of all the different emotions I am feeling.
"It's no bother I was the one to suggest it," Jimin insisted and that was enough for me.
"Ok-" I was going to accept but then I remembered my two best friends waiting for me in the room. It didn't seem fair that I got to meet BTS without them.
"Yeah, Nari, come on they had mentioned they'd like to meet the girl who did it," Taehyung also insisted as I looked at him, he gave me an encouraging smile and as I looked at a pouting Jimin a decision was made.
"Alright then," I said with a sigh, honestly, it wasn't that hard to convince me.
Don't get me wrong meeting BTS is a dream, but I always thought I'd be with my friends. it felt wrong to do this when they were literally on the floor below none the wiser. Maybe I can get them an autograph or something.
"Let's go," Jimin said while waving his hand in my direction.
The walk to the room was nerve-wracking. My heartbeat was going super fast, my hands were sweaty, and my feet felt cold. At some point, I think I was trembling. Finally, we stopped in front of a room and Jimin swiped his card to open it. He gestured for me to come into the room while holding the door open for me. Walking in the room, I didn't know what I was expecting, but I saw it was exactly like mine. Well, it was much neater, but I blame that on Macy since she can be very messy.
Startled by Taehyung's low voice I turned around to look at him.
"I texted the other members they said they'd be here in a few minutes," he announced as he took a seat on the sofa.
"Make yourself comfortable," he continued as he patted the sofa motioning me to sit.
I went and sat down on the other edge of the sofa with a cushion or two between us. I was probably overreacting but I didn't know how to act. I don't want to freak them out by acting too much like a fangirl, yet I didn't want to act too indifferent making them believe I didn't care.
Soon enough, there was a knock on the door and Jungkook and Jin came into the room. Holy shit I can't believe it. It's not that I was comfortable with Jimin and Taehyung, but now there were four of them in front of me and that made it even more real. They both greeted me, Jungkook more shyly than Jin, and they sat down near the table. Not one minute later there was another knock and the remaining members came in.
Having my bias, Kim Namjoon, in front of me was out of this world. He introduced himself with a handshake and I was acutely aware as to how sweaty my palms were. Hoping he wouldn't notice I shook his hand and he gave me his dimpled smile. I was in heaven, my eyes even watered a bit. But then I remembered where I was and fell back to earth.
"So, you are the famous girl that's been trending on Twitter," Namjoon says as he went to sit on a chair they had dragged from the room.
"Yup, that's me," I swear this video has been the best thing that has happened to me.
"I honestly didn't think it would get to you guys," I confessed looking at them.
"We do like to see what the fans are up to but it was JK who saw it first," Jin said pointing at the maknae.
"I was on twitter when I saw the hashtag," he began telling the story, "I was surprised at what it was. I didn't expect it to be about something so serious," he finished with a worried look on his face.
"He then showed it to us," Hoseok spoke up, "it's incredible how you kept your cool during it all you didn't seem panicked."
"Oh, I was panicking inside," 'Just like right now' I thought to myself.
I chuckled a bit and kept explaining, "but they always show you in the classes that you should try to be calm."
"I am very grateful that you were there. It's scary to think what would have happened to her if you weren't," Yoongi said from his place on the floor pensively.
"After I helped her the paramedics checked her over and told us she was going to be fine which is a big relief," I informed them about the girl's state.
With the subject done small talk made its way in. The boys were very interested in my life, but through it all, I couldn't help but notice how stoic Taehyung looked. It was odd, I thought he was one of the most outgoing members. Maybe he was tired; it was late.
"Are you from here Nari or are you visiting?" Jungkook asked me.
"I'm from California but live like two hours away from here" I started saying. I debated telling them I came because of the concert, but then remembered Jimin already knew "We stayed here for the concert."
Jungkook gave a small, "Ohhh".
"Thank you for coming," he then said with his bunny smile.
"What's one of your favorite songs?" Hoseok asked playfully.
The boys then looked in my direction curiously. After thinking for a few seconds, I answered.
"From this album probably 'Seesaw' but overall I think 'Spring Day' is one of my favorites," I could have sworn I saw Yoongi smile to himself at my statement.
"Serious question though," Jimin said unsmilingly.
"Yes?" What could be so serious for him to look like that? It was scary.
"Who is your bias?" he then burst out laughing, "I'm sorry you looked so scared."
"Yah, do you want to give me a heart attack," I exclaimed, clutching my chest dramatically.
The whole room laughed along with me until Taehyung asked again. He hadn't said much since he had told me to get comfortable.
"Who is it?" He seemed to want to know, but I couldn't bring myself to say who it was in front of them. I found it a little embarrassing.
"It's a secret," It was the best answer I could give.
"Come on, we are all friends here," Hoseok joined in on the teasing.
"Nope, my lips are sealed," I was enjoying not telling them.
"She doesn't have to say," Jin said and just as I was going to thank him for defending me, he says, "Obviously it's me nobody can resist my handsome face."
Around the room, you could hear the complaints of the other members and the bickering as to who they think it is.
Out of the blue a yawn made its way to my lips.
"What time is it?" I asked, I have been here for a while and it was 1 am when I left the room.
"It's almost 3 am," Taehyung mentioned as he looked at his phone.
"I should probably go, it's late," I couldn't believe so much time has passed.
"Got tired of us already?" Yoongi asked jokingly, but to me, it sounded serious.
"What? No, of course not, it's just that my friends are probably worried as to where I am," I explained quickly.
"He's kidding Nari," Hoseok reassured me as he nudged Yoongi on the shoulder.
"I hate asking this, but do you think maybe you could sign something for my friends?" I asked with a pout, "I'm afraid they will kill me if I return empty-handed," I then explained the reasoning behind my question.
"Let's see what we can do," Namjoon mysteriously answered me.
After brainstorming what they could do Jungkook remembered they had some spare albums in the other room and went to look for them. Meanwhile, Namjoon sat beside me and in a low tone asked me for a favor.
"From what we have seen of you I can tell you are not like that, but," he began talking I tilted my head as I listened intently to what he was saying. "I'm going to ask you this just in case. Can you please not reveal where we are staying?"
It made sense. Nobody knew where they were staying and me revealing that can make their stay much harder. I reassured him I wasn't planning on telling anyone. As he nodded and gave me a smile Jungkook came in with the albums.
I hadn't noticed that while Namjoon and I had out little talk another member was watching the interaction with a small furrow of his eyebrows. He thought Namjoon was making a move on me.
After the albums were signed it was time for goodbye.
"It was great meeting all of you. I never thought I'd meet you guys, especially like this," I said with a small laugh.
"It's good to spend time with fans. It gets harder as time passes, so this was good," Jimin told you as he sat on the sofa.
"And you speak Korean which is even better for some of us which don't understand Enlgish much," Jin acknowledged.
As I said goodbye a series of goodbyes and farewells called after me. As I walked out of the room a deep voice stopped me in my tracks.
