After a stressful week of tests, I could finally relax and have some time to myself. Opening the door to the house I took off my shoes and placed them on the rack by the door. I believe I did good on the test, but that didn't matter anymore what mattered was the fact that I had just finished my second year of college. How time flies by so quickly it seems just like yesterday that I started college. Making my way to my bedroom, I flung my backpack in the corner of the room where it will probably stay for the rest of the summer.
A headache was starting to form due to the tight ponytail I had hurriedly done in the morning. I took it out on my way to the bathroom, took a shower and changed into some comfortable clothes to finish the day off. Not long after mom called me down for dinner.
With my tummy filled I went to check on my phone which I had carelessly thrown on the bed when I got home. Turning the screen on I was met by some text from the girls and one from Taehyung.
I felt a bit guilty since due to the exams I had neglected him a bit. He said he understood, but I felt bad that I barely spoke to him. I had gotten so used to talking with him I missed it.
'Nari-ah 😫 I'm bored...What are you up to????'
-Taehyung
I glanced at my clock and did some calculations and realized it was 3 am where he was at. Why was he awake? With curiosity and a need to make it up to him I began a video call which is something we had not done before.
I leaned on my headboard as I waited for him to pick up. I got a bit nervous since technically I hadn't seen him since the day at the hotel, but I tried shaking those thoughts away since what we were going to do was the same as a normal call. For a moment I thought he was not going to answer, but at the last second his bare face popped up.
He was laying in the bed the lamp beside his bed being the only thing illuminating his beautiful face. He had a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye, yet there were noticeable bags under his eyes, and he seemed a bit pale. Even though he looked tired he was still a sight to behold.
"Nari, I missed you!" he exclaimed, getting his face close to the camera.
"I missed you too Tae," I laughed at his antics.
No, I had not called him Taehyung Oppa since that day, and I had not brought it up and I didn't care to.
"How were the exams?" he asked, laying back on the bed.
"They were okay... I think I did good," I told him nonchalantly.
"That's great you genius!" Taehyung praised not forgetting to call me a genius.
I didn't know if I liked it or not. All throughout the week every time I mentioned I was studying, he'd answer with messages like 'good luck genius,' 'you got this little genius'. It was encouraging, but I felt like it added pressure for me to do well.
"Tae, I'm no genius," I whined, holding a pillow to my face.
"Yeah, you are!" he insisted with a teasing smile.
"Question is, why are you awake if it's about 3 am in London?" I asked, trying to change the subject because I just know if I kept insisting so would he.
"Aish, I couldn't sleep...jet lag," he pouted.
"That sucks," I said, "Still, you should try to sleep, I imagine you have to wake up early."
"Not really, we have a free day tomorrow," he smiled, relieved he could sleep in, that is if he ever went to bed.
"What are you planning on doing?" I questioned animatedly. They were in London there were so many cool places to visit.
"I think I might stay in. If one of the guys tells me about something I might go," he spoke unsure.
"You should go explore, it's London! I bet it's beautiful," I raved about the city I have longed to go since I was a kid.
"We'll see..." he said, rolling his eyes at my excitement.
"Oh! I almost forgot to mention," I exclaimed, seeing his eyes focused on me, I got shy and started playing with a stray thread on my hoodie.
"What?" he asked, curiosity glinting in his eyes at my outburst.
"Next week I'm traveling to South Korea," I revealed with a small bounce looking back up.
"That's nice, why are you visiting?" Through the phone you could see Taehyung's clogs turning.
"My parent wanted to visit the family, so they told us to pack up and what's even better is that Olivia and Macy are coming!" I ranted to Taehyung as he laughed at my reaction.
"You're so cute," He said or at least I think he said because I was so busy celebrating, I only heard part of it.
"What?" I asked for him to repeat.
"What?" He asked back, staring at me blankly.
Maybe my mind was playing tricks on me now, but I could have sworn.
"How long are you visiting for?" He questioned.
"I think minimum two weeks but could be longer my parent don't know yet," I explained, my parents didn't want to have an exact day because they wanted to see how things went with the family.
It was funny, my parents got so annoyed sometimes they wanted to leave. Other times it was the opposite, they were having a great time and didn't want to leave. Which led them to not pick a return date.
I thought about asking Taehyung if he was going to be around so we could meet up, but I wasn't sure if it was something he would be interested in. Neither of us had ever really talked about meeting up in person. My thoughts were interrupted once Taehyung asked the exact thing that was on my mind.
"Maybe we can meet up!" he suggested.
"You're going to be in Korea soon?" I asked to make sure I was understanding well.
"Yes, this part of the tour is almost done so we are going back for a few weeks for the muster and a little break," he explained.
"This is so exciting we can definitely plan something!" I could not hold my excitement any longer.
Thinking that I was going to see Taehyung in person after a month of texting and calling was thrilling. It really built up the anticipation for the trip. The first time I met him I did not really know him, I barely spoke to him, and I was a nervous wreck with BTS in front of me. Now I knew him a bit better and it was not V in front of me...it was Kim Taehyung.
"I'll send you my schedule soon, I think I have some free days or half days," he told me.
"Great!"
The conversation went on for about 45 more minutes we talked about many random things like we usually do and about what we could do when we met up. Taehyung seemed just as excited as I did which reassured me he also wanted this. It's not like he ever gave an indication of not wanting to, but my mind has the tendency to expect the worst.
"Strawberries all the way Nari what is wrong with you," he scolded once he found out I preferred blueberries.
"I like them, but blueberries are better," I stood by my choice.
Taehyung was about to keep convincing me why strawberries were better when a big yawn escaped his lips.
"Tae go to sleep," I laughed, "I thought you were going to swallow the phone with how big you opened your mouth."
"Hey! It's not that big," Taehyung protested when another yawn escaped his lips.
"Whatever you say," I kept poking at him, "Go to bed, sleep tight, and have nice dreams Tae," I told him before he fell asleep on me. He was lying on his side the phone in one of his hands also tilted. It was comical how his eyes were squinting, trying to stay open.
"I will," he mumbled, closing his eyes.
"Goodnight Taehyung," I finally said and as I was hanging up, he spoke once again.
"Goodnight Jagi," Hearing his words I did a double take and stared at the phone in shock not expecting that, but the line was cut quickly.
From his hotel bed in London Taehyung hung up his phone, smiling at your reaction to the name he'd called you. He saw the blush that crept up your cheeks and how your eyes doubled in size. It was cute. With that image in mind he closed his eyes completely and fell into a deep sleep. Filled with dreams of a certain girl.
Hearing him call me Jagi had my palms sweaty and heart pounding. I noticed a sensation in my stomach, it was new. It was like a little tickle almost like butterflies? What did they mean?
I couldn't have a crush on Taehyung, could I? It wouldn't be the most outrageous thing if I did, right? We talked often, he was clearly very handsome, he was also funny, and he seemed interested in my life.
This was probably nothing. It has been a long time since I have had a crush, or a guy liked me so him calling me a pet name felt nice. That is all, it does not mean I have a crush.
Trying to distract my overthinking mind, I went to my brothers' room. Getting closer to the room, I heard a lot of rustling, knocking on the door, I heard a faint 'come in'. What greeted me was not the usual tidy room, it was the opposite. There were shoes, and clothes spread all around the room. It was as if a tornado had passed through.
Noticing my expression Jin spoke up, "I'm trying to pack, but I can barely find a decent outfit."
"A decent outfit?" I asked baffled. My brother was really into fashion, so his clothes were always nice. He knew how to dress for every occasion, and he was prideful about it. I was confused as to how he says he doesn't have a decent outfit.
"Nari, I have to look awesome," he tried explaining with an annoyed expression, "We are going to one of the most fashionable countries-ugh- you wouldn't understand."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked offended. I liked to think I had good style; I certainly did not dress bad.
"Nari, you are basic!" he blurted out with no remorse for any type of feelings I might have.
"You are so rude here I was trying to spend some time with my brother and I just get attacked," I tried to guilt trip him. His comment hurt, but there was truth to it. Lately my fashion has been basic but good basic... I think.
"Alright, sorry, I'm just stressed," he sighed, sitting in his clothes filled bed.
"It's fine, want to go shopping tomorrow?" I offered, sitting beside him.
"Yes, please," he whispered defeated.
"Am I really basic?" I asked, nudging his side.
"No..." He trailed off.
At his sketchy answer I gave him a warning look.
"Only sometimes, okay?" he exclaimed, "It's not really basic it's just that you have adapted to American fashion, we need to give you a more Korean look," he finished explaining.
"I thought my look was pretty Korean," I thought out loud.
"I've noticed it is only when you're going out," he pointed out with a shrug.
"Whatever I'm going to bed, I'm exhausted," I said standing up.
"Wait, I was going to ask..." he said before I left the room, "Who have you been talking to so much lately?"
Whether it was my tired mind or the fact that he would find out sooner or later I decided to tell him.
"His name is Kim Taehyung I met him in the hotel when I went to the BTS concert," I simply said.
"Kim...Taehyung like the guy from BTS?" Youngjin looked at me disbelief.
"Yep," I answered, standing by the door trying to see if he would question me further.
"Nari, is this you not wanting to tell me?" he tried to accuse me.
I don't blame him if somebody told me they were talking with an Idol I would question them too.
"Jin its really him," I tried to convince him.
"As if! How would that ever happen?" he laughed still not believing me.
"It could if you stay in the same hotel," I pointed out.
Realizing he would not believe me without proof I sat down again and showed him the pictures I took with them and some of my messages with Taehyung.
"Why did you hide this?" he exclaimed hurt that I didn't tell him sooner.
"I wasn't hiding it you never asked," I told him, "Besides, why would you care you don't like BTS."
"I might not, but you are still talking to a famous person!" he shouted, still hurt he did not know and because he does like BTS and he is really excited.
"So?"
"So, it's freaking cool!" he shrieked.
"Hold up..." he said with a faraway look, "Is he the one you called oppa?" He had a puzzled look I his face.
"Ugh, yes," I grumbled knowing where he would take this.
"Does Nari like Taehyung?" he asked aloud as if I wasn't in the room.
"No, why would I? We've only been talking through the phone. I have only seen him in twice," I denied doubtfully.
"That doesn't matter," he said, "We live in the era of online dating and that is how many relationships start."
You know I came here to distract myself, but I clearly made a mistake, since now my mind is on overdrive processing Jin's words.
"I don't know..." I sighed fiddling my thumbs.
Noticing my distress his eyes softened.
"It's okay," he whispered comfortingly, knocking his shoulder against mine playfully.
"Things have changed," I explained, "You know it started with me texting him because I thought it was cool, he was an idol I looked up too. Nowadays I forget he is famous to me he is just Taehyung."
Youngjin just hummed not knowing what to say.
"Of course, I'd remember when he tells me the concert is going to start, but that's besides the point," I laughed.
"I imagine he must be happy he found you," Jin assumed, "A friend who sees him as he truly is not the persona he puts up."
For being the youngest one Youngjin was really wise, he always tried to see things from different perspectives which is why his words made sense.
"He had really good judgement to decide to talk to you because you are an amazing person Nari," he spoke, "I know for a fact that you'll be there for him whenever he needs you making him a very lucky guy."
I gave Jin an appreciative smile as I laid my head on his shoulder. My mind relaxing for a brief moment.
"If he is as amazing as he says I don't blame you for having a crush. Just be careful, okay?"
"Okay, I promise Jin, thanks for the wise words," I spoke softly.
Youngjin looked around the room and was met by the mess he had created before sheepishly saying, "Since I gave you life advice, would you help me pick up all this stuff?"
"Nothing comes free in life does it?" I complained, giving him a glare.
He gave me an innocent look as he shrugged. With a sigh I stood up and helped him get his room back to normal. Giving me a grin he put some music along the way, spending two hours picking up clothes and helping him choose what to take with him to Korea next week.
A/N:
I loved writing the part with Nari and Youngjin, it was so wholesome.
So, Nari and Taehyung are going to see each other soon... I wonder what they'll do...
Taehyung is a cheeky guy calling Nari jagi.
